Chapter 150, Chapter 143: Fatal Assault
"Giddy up!" Iovia drew her twin swords and swung them wildly. The terrifying battle aura of a sixth-tier hunter shone on the sharp scimitars. The already high-spirited elven army, led by their king, fought with increasing ferocity and successfully suppressed the enemy into the city.
Urban warfare has begun...
"Bang! Roar!" A hidden ogre burst out of a stone wall, its thick wooden club smashing two overconfident swordsmen to pieces.
"Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!" In an instant, dozens of sharp arrows rained down on it, turning the ferocious ogre into a bloody mess, its black blood gushing out like a showerhead.
"Kill!" The spinning moon blade sliced off a row of heads, and the ferocious heads of the orcs rolled to the ground instantly.
"Watch your surroundings! The enemy is everywhere!" Iovia shouted. The well-connected elven city provided the orcs with excellent hiding places, and they frantically leaped out from the shadows to attack the star elves.
"The orcs are putting up a fierce resistance! But this is our city! They are being pushed back one by one, and my people, use your weapons to drive out the enemy! Reclaim our city!" Iovia exclaimed passionately.
"Kill!" The Star Elves, their bloodlust ignited, surged madly into the fallen ancient city.
"Awooo!" The orcs were forced into retreat, their rudimentary equipment proving utterly ineffective against the Star Elves' meticulously crafted weapons.
"Press it down!" Iovia was incredibly excited. Today, this ancient city would return to the hands of the elves, and the thorn in the side of the dark forces in the north would be removed by her own hands!
That night, Dolgok was incredibly noisy, filled with screams, cries of pain, and shouts of killing, while black and red blood mingled and slowly flowed along the city's dried-up canals...
"Your Highness, our casualties are quite high!" Peter Gross frowned, even though the loss of just over a hundred people was already heartbreaking.
"Huh?" The extremely excited Iovia immediately sobered up. He looked around at the elven soldiers who were already fighting with the orcs and his mind went blank.
"Don't engage them in close combat! Use your bows and arrows to shoot them at close range!" Iovia hurriedly said. No matter what, engaging these tough-skinned orcs in close combat would be a huge disadvantage for elves. Elven longbows are not only effective for long-range attacks, but they are also very formidable in close combat.
Upon receiving the order, the Star Elves quickly distanced themselves from the orcs. Except for the rangers leading the way, the others drew their bows, firing almost face-to-face with the orcs. While not fully drawn, the close range made up for this. One by one, the orcs, weapons raised, howled and charged at the elven soldiers, while the elves pinned them to the ground from over ten meters away. It proved that well-organized elven archers could easily advance against the enemy; anyone daring to approach was riddled with arrows! Orcs who managed to deflect the arrows with their shields faced rangers wielding elven scimitars. Blades flashed, and pieces of corpses mixed with entrails scattered everywhere.
"Don't scatter! We'll clear this place out one by one!" Iovia jumped off the unicorn, which was now standing in the plaza at the entrance to Dolgodo, freely unleashing its various buff skills.
"Find the way to the Royal Palace!" Iovia commanded loudly, looking at the chaotic battlefield. The Royal Palaces of elven cities are almost always located in the city center. Occupying that place would effectively cut off the connection between different areas, allowing them to gradually erode the entire city.
Before long, someone found the path to the Royal Palace on the weathered stone pillars. Iovia quickly led her team there, leaving squads of elven soldiers along the way to separate the battlefield.
"We've arrived!" an elven soldier exclaimed with delight. Ahead lay the former royal hall of Ammonlans. Although it had been occupied by orcs for a long time, the magnificent building still retained a strong elven style.
"We're back!" Iovia's murderous gaze locked onto the orc army gathered in front of the steps of the Royal Hall.
"Kill!" The silver battle aura flames erupted violently, and a blade of light tens of meters long silently advanced towards the orc.
"Spatial Blade!" A high-ranking orc roared in terror. Spatial element... the most destructive attribute!
"Swoosh!" The silver spatial blade sliced through the orc's body, the spot that was hit appearing as if swallowed by a black hole, the cut smooth...
Iovia flicked his sword and lightly touched the ground with his toes, leaping into the air. The next second, his father's heirloom—the longbow Lodnan—appeared in his hand.
"Ah!" Life force surged forth like a spring, immense yet still a drop in the ocean compared to the Elf King's long lifespan. With a long howl, Iovia released the bowstring... "Buzz~" In the dazzling light, the orcs collapsed to the ground. Although they had no fatal external wounds, their life force and souls had already dissipated under that arrow.
"Stars twinkle!" Iovia's ears twitched, and his body curled up in the air. In the starlight, Iovia appeared a hundred meters away. The next second, a thick crossbow bolt flew past the spot where he had just been standing.
"Damn it! Spatial Rangers!" one of the orc leaders gritted his teeth. Rangers were tough to deal with, skilled in both ranged attacks and close-quarters combat, and incredibly mobile. Spatial Rangers were even tougher, elusive and unpredictable, appearing and disappearing at will, and dealing astonishing damage. Spatial Rangers… the orcs were exhausted. Let's restart; it's unplayable!
Yes, Iovia, the Lord of the Stars, is a space-elemental ranger, for the essence of the stars is space! Where starlight shines, rangers appear and disappear!
"Was it useful?" Iovia grinned as she looked at the fourth-tier orc in front of her who was resisting with his sword. Just as her sword was about to collide with the orc's, Iovia's whole body became illusory, and the scimitar in her hand passed directly through the orc's weapon and into his neck.
"Pathetic!" Iovia twisted her body and disappeared from the spot, leaving only a rolling head and a headless body.
"Advance! Destroy them!" Iovia shouted as she appeared in front of her own army.
"Boom!" The massive stone gate let out a mournful cry and collapsed amidst a violent tremor. Countless elves crossed the fallen gate and successfully stormed into the royal hall.
"Kill!" Iovia charged in first, easily killing the orcs who had been putting up a stubborn resistance at the entrance. The elves were about to win!
"Peter! Take some men and clear out the scum who are still resisting!" Iovia walked into the hall without looking back.
“Yes, Your Highness!” Peter Gro bowed and stepped over the corpses, leading a group of elven rangers away.
“I’m back…but this isn’t our home…” Iovia walked toward the throne in the hall.
"What a perfect work of art, what a pity..." Iovia stroked the broken throne, her heart filled with endless sorrow. The once prosperous Elven race could now only retreat to a few secret realms to recuperate and rebuild their lives.
"Sigh!" Iovia looked up, ready to leave.
"Huh?" Iovia's eyes suddenly widened.
"Pfft!" A mouthful of blood spurted from Iovia's mouth! A silver-black greatsword plunged into Iovia's abdomen from behind!
Khammur's figure slowly appeared behind Iovia.
"Get out!" Iovia forcefully broke free from the longsword embedded in her body, then swung her scimitar backhand to slash. As Khamur raised his sword to block, Iovia's figure flashed and disappeared from the spot, leaving only a spray of blood on the ground!
"A sixth-tier black knight!"
"Black Knight!"
"His Highness has been attacked!"
The elven soldiers retreated from the royal hall. Khammur gripped his sword, dragging his flail, drops of blood dripping from the tip of the blade—the king's blood…
