Buddhism speaks of the Six Realms: heaven, asura, human, animal, hungry ghost, and hell.

The so-called karma and retribution, and the cycle of reincarnation in the six realms.

The Six Paths are both a spatial concept and a state.

For example, in the realm of hungry ghosts, there are many hungry ghosts with bellies as big as mountains and mouths as thin as needles. Because of their long lifespans, they suffer from hunger almost forever.

However, there are also Yakshas in the Hungry Ghost Realm who are born with great supernatural powers, not to mention some of the Ghost Kings who have profound magical abilities.

There is also a saying in the Heavenly Way that some celestial beings live directly with mortals.

Suppose a young man is very lucky and marries a fair-skinned and beautiful wife. He usually keeps a few pigs at home. Next door lives an uncle who is rarely seen. The man usually comes back while the uncle goes out, and the man goes out while the uncle comes back.

It seems like a bit of an ethical dilemma, but in reality, it's possible that the young man himself is an ordinary person, but his fair-skinned and beautiful wife is a celestial being, and the pig in the house is still an honest and simple pig. It's just that the uncle who is often nowhere to be seen is a demon, and he goes out to find a few living people to eat.

This small house thus encompasses four of the six realms of reincarnation.

The current state of Qu Tan is clearly a sign of falling into the hell realm.

In Buddhism, hell is a very broad concept. It includes the so-called fundamental hells, such as the Great Iron Mountain, the Avici Hell, the Scorching Hell, the Crying Hell, and the Freezing Hell, which have specific locations. However, it also includes special states such as the Hell of Excrement and Urine and the Hell of Solitude.

Among them, the solitary hell is where beings are unable to speak or move, trapped in places rarely visited by people, and suffering all kinds of torment.

Take Qu Tan, for example. According to the Buddhist classification, he was originally a kind of hungry ghost. However, he has now been transformed into a stone and cannot move under this archway. He will be trapped for eternity, which is even more miserable than Sun Wukong who was trapped under the Five Fingers Mountain.
