Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 65 Busy
Chapter 65 Busy
After the Christmas holidays, everyone's studies and lives seemed to return to normal.
Now that they knew who Nicolas Flamel was, the trio who lost points stopped causing trouble and instead threw themselves into the intense and exciting studies of the new semester.
Tyrell convinced them of Dumbledore's power, and in doing so, she also convinced herself...
With the start of the new school term, Tyrell, Harry, and Hermione all got busy.
Needless to say, Harry was no exception. As Quidditch entered a new season, Gryffindor's fanatical Quidditch captain, Wood, intensified the training of the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team, including Harry, a first-year wizard.
Several team members, including Harry, often trained until they were covered in injuries, which increased Tierra's workload, as in addition to calming potions, Tierra also had to brew typhoid potions for all the Quidditch players.
Hermione, the top student, has already previewed most of the courses for this semester and is now borrowing textbooks for next semester from the library.
The busiest one was Tierra. In addition to brewing typhoid medicine for the Quidditch team, Snape significantly increased the difficulty of his first private lesson after the Christmas break. If Tierra hadn't been a seasoned veteran who had spent many years in the laboratory, he might not have been able to keep up with the knowledge.
Just like the Hybolt pills that Tierra once fed to Peter Pettigrew, the more advanced the potion, the more incantations or even curses need to be added during the brewing process, in addition to the medicinal ingredients.
Therefore, Tiera had to borrow a book called "Advanced Analysis of Potions and Spells" from the library.
In addition to finishing her own studies, Quidditch tasks, and Snape's extra assignments, Tyella also has to deal with Tom Riddle, a very dedicated private tutor.
Tom Riddle was amazed by Tierra's talent in potions, alchemy, and transmutation, so he generously shared all his magical knowledge—which didn't involve principles but only techniques—within his grasp.
Little did he know that what Tiera lacked was precisely this kind of technical magical knowledge. He already had Merlin's research notes and the Necronomicon, and he had almost thoroughly grasped the principles of magic. What he lacked was precisely that kind of technical magical knowledge.
The principles of magic are like mathematical formulas; they can be applied to physical, chemical, and biological reactions. However, actual physical, chemical, and biological experiments differ somewhat from theoretical formulas.
He needs to translate the principles of magic into magic, which requires spellcasting skills and a lot of experimentation.
That's the kind of thing Hogwarts teaches.
However, most of the spellcasting techniques taught at Hogwarts were the ones best suited to them... or rather, the spellcasting techniques most appropriate to them, rather than the more common spellcasting techniques that had been summarized and refined.
Of course, Tom Riddle teaches this kind of thing... and even some concealment in certain non-critical spellcasting techniques.
But Tyella was blessed with "knowledge"... She could know everything Tom Riddle was thinking just by pressing her finger on the notebook.
This includes a set of spellcasting techniques that he developed during his student years through continuous experimentation and observation, which became almost universally applicable.
Tierra is now like a sponge dehydrated; he absorbs as much knowledge as Tom Riddle pours in.
Tiera was busy, but happy.
So, of the three who lost points, Ron seems to be the only one who's not doing anything. He's either following Harry to the Quidditch pitch to watch them train or following Tyrell around watching him brew potions, but he falls asleep in his chair after less than five minutes.
Days passed by at a leisurely pace, because Tierra was too busy. Furthermore, he couldn't possibly read Tom Riddle's notebook or the books he'd brought from the Room of Requirement in public, let alone show them to the three demerit points. Tierra simply didn't trust their ability to keep secrets.
So Tiera either secretly read books under her blankets at night when she was resting, or she hid herself among a bunch of upperclassmen when she was studying in the library.
Even so, Hermione still frequently found him, forcing Tyella to try and find other places to read: the observatory, the lawn, the empty corridor seats. Tyella even almost ran to the bathroom where Myrtle was.
Time flew by, and it wasn't until Hagrid mysteriously came to them and asked them to sneak to his hut that night that Tyrell realized almost two months had passed, and there were less than ten weeks left before he would spend his first year of magical studies at Hogwarts.
"What is he hiding behind his back?" Hermione asked thoughtfully after Hagrid left. "Do you think it has anything to do with the Philosopher's Stone?"
Today was another day when Hermione found Tierra studying in the library. Tierra had no choice but to helplessly scribble the magical configuration of the mana-enhancing potion on a piece of paper.
He completed the magical configuration of the mana-enhancing potion more than two weeks ago, but he is still missing a few ingredients, which is why he has been unable to brew it for so long.
"I'll go see what book he was looking for." Ron had long been impatient with reading, so he took the opportunity to run away.
A minute later, he returned, carrying a large stack of books, which he slammed onto the table.
“Dragons!” he whispered. “Hagrid is looking up information about dragons! Look at these: ‘The Types of Dragons in Great Britain and Ireland,’ ‘From Egg to Nirvana,’ ‘The Dragon Raising Guide.’”
“Hagrid always wanted a dragon. He told me that the first time I met him,” Harry said.
“But it’s illegal,” Ron said. “Everyone knows that the law against keeping dragons was officially passed at the Wizarding Council of 1709. If we keep dragons in our backyard, it’s hard to keep them from being noticed by Muggles, and they’re very difficult to tame. It’s dangerous. You should see the burns on Charlie’s body; they were left by wild dragons from Romania.”
“But aren’t there wild dragons in Britain?” Harry said.
“Of course,” Ron said. “There are common Welsh green dragons and Hebridine black dragons. I can tell you that one of the Ministry’s jobs is to keep these wild dragons a secret. Our wizards have to frequently cast spells on Muggles who see them to make them forget about it.”
“So what exactly does Hagrid want to do?” Hermione asked.
An hour later, they knocked on the door of the hunting ground's guardhouse.
The four of them—including Tiera—came because Tiera's magic-enhancing potion required dragon eggshell powder.
They found that all the curtains were drawn tightly shut.
Hagrid first called out, "Who is it?" before letting them in, then quickly turned around and closed the door.
The cabin was stiflingly hot. A roaring fire burned in the fireplace.
Hagrid made them tea and brought them ferret sandwiches.
