Chapter 49 Chaos
"Alright, and don't forget that subtle wrist movement we've been practicing!" Professor Flitwick said in a shrill voice, standing on his pile of books as usual. "A flick and a shake, remember, a flick and a shake. It's also very important to pronounce the spell correctly. Don't forget the wizard Balfio, who pronounced 'f' as 's' and found himself lying on the floor with a bison standing on his chest."
This was likely an incorrect magical configuration that, by sheer chance, was influenced by the wizard's spiritual dimension, resulting in a significant deviation—
Tierra concluded that it was definitely not as simple as just mispronouncing a word.
Each person's spiritual dimension is unique, so different wizards will produce vastly different results when casting the same spell, even if the pronunciation is exactly the same.
Just like the explosive genius Simon Finigan, he can use any spell or potion to create the effect of an explosive spell.
After explaining the key points, Flitwick waved his wand, indicating that the young wizards present could practice on their own.
However, it was clear that while the spell was quite easy for Flitwick to demonstrate, very few young wizards could actually execute it.
Of course, Hermione was the first to complete it; she learned the spell on her own a few weeks after her first flight lesson.
“Excellent, Miss Granger,” Flitwick exclaimed. “Five points for Gryffindor!”
This eased Hermione's tense expression a little.
Then it was Tyella and Harry's turn; with a flick of their wrists, the feathers on their tables floated gently up.
But the other young wizards weren't so lucky.
Simofnigan set his props on fire again and again.
With a whoosh, the feather in front of Ximo exploded into a cloud of black smoke.
His deskmate Neville, quick as a flash, slammed the thick spellbook onto Seamus's desk.
So skilled that it makes people feel distressed.
Ron, at another table, didn't seem to be having much better luck.
"Yugadimur Leviosa!" he shouted with all his might, waving his long arms like a windmill.
But the feathers on his table remained unmoved.
“You mispronounced it,” Hermione said bluntly. Hermione seemed to be in a much better mood after being praised by Professor Flitwick. “It’s Yu Jia Yi Dimlevi-O-Sa. The ‘Jia’ should be pronounced long and clearly.”
"Hmm... Hmph... I know," Ron mumbled softly.
As get out of class was about to end, Ron's mood reached its lowest point.
“No wonder everyone can’t stand her,” Tierra overheard Ron say to Harry as they struggled through a crowded corridor. “Honestly, she’s a nightmare.”
Someone bumped into Tiera hard and then hurried past them.
It was Hermione. Tyella noticed that she was crying when Hermione walked past him.
“I think she heard you,” Tierra said calmly.
“So what?” Ron said, but a hint of unease crept in. “She must have noticed already. She doesn’t have any friends. Look, even you haven’t been hanging out with her lately!”
Tierra sighed softly, unsure of what to say to express her helplessness at being caught up in this conflict between elementary school students.
Hermione didn't show up for the next class, and was nowhere to be seen all afternoon. At dinner time, Tyrell, Harry, and Ron went downstairs to the dining room. On their way to the Halloween party, they overheard Petit telling her friend Lavender that Hermione was crying sadly in the girls' restroom and wouldn't let anyone comfort her.
Ron became even more uncomfortable after hearing this, and he even started to consider whether he should go and apologize to Hermione.
However, a moment later, when they entered the restaurant and saw the colorful Halloween decorations, Ron and Harry immediately forgot about Hermione.
A thousand bats fluttered across the walls and ceiling, while another thousand, like low, dark clouds, hovered and danced above the dining table, causing the candle flames inside the pumpkin to flicker. Delicious food suddenly appeared on golden plates, just like at the opening banquet.
After the banquet began, Ron held a chicken leg in one hand and a piece of beef on a fork in the other.
Harry, meanwhile, was eating a piece of potato that had been steamed until it was incredibly soft with a spoon.
Tierra quickly finished his meal—pan-fried cod, roasted lamb chops, and some bacon.
Tierra is now scooping up the caramel fruit pudding placed in front of him, spoonful by spoonful.
Tierra, however, seemed somewhat restless, glancing towards the restaurant's entrance every now and then.
“Stop looking, Tyella,” Ron said, his mouth full of meat. “I’m sure Hermione will come over if she’s crying because she’s hungry.”
“Um…no, oh well, I am a little worried about Hermione,” Tyella said.
Then Tiera's eyes lit up as he saw Professor Quirrell, wearing a loose robe and with a tattered cloth wrapped around his head, stumble in.
"Troll!" he screamed hoarsely as he entered the hall.
"A troll! It's in the basement..." Professor Quirrell collapsed in front of Dumbledore's lectern, his face filled with terror, and fainted.
Her figure was elegant, like an actress who had died on the stage, and she even made sure that her face was on the ground.
"Ah—ah—ah—" Someone started screaming first, and the restaurant instantly descended into chaos, with some young wizards dropping their food...
That's right, Ron threw away the steak and chicken leg he was holding, smashed Tierra's crème brûlée, and then screamed like the other little wizards.
Professor Dumbledore had to make his wand explode with several ear-piercing firework sounds before everyone quieted down.
"Prefects," Dumbledore said in a low voice, "take your students to their dormitories immediately! All teachers, follow me!"
Percy, of course, was very familiar with the task.
"Follow me! Don't get separated, first-years! As long as you listen to me, you don't need to be afraid of any giants! Okay, stay close behind me. Make way, first-years are coming through! Excuse me! I'm the prefect! Don't push me!"
“How could a troll get in here?” Harry asked Tyella as they went up the stairs, only to find himself with Ron and the other first-year wizards.
"Where's Tyella?" Harry almost popped out of the corner. He looked up, stood on tiptoe, and looked around.
Tiera was not among the chaotic crowd.
"Where's Tierra? Have you seen Tierra?" Harry suddenly grabbed Ron's arm. "Tierra is gone!"
