Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 37 Duel Invitation
Chapter 37 Duel Invitation
As Harry recounted his story with great enthusiasm, Draco Malfoy quietly approached Tyella.
Behind him followed Crabbe, a fat man, and Gore, a short man.
All three glared at Tiera.
Because during this afternoon's flight lesson, Tyella not only gave Malfoy a hard time, but also humiliated the entire Slytherin.
This infuriated the Slytherins, who always valued their reputation.
Tyella was completely unconcerned about Malfoy and his two henchmen getting close to her.
They definitely weren't there to fight, since the teachers were sitting right in front of them.
Although Malfoy was terrified, he wouldn't be Malfoy if he could swallow his anger.
So he came up with a dirty trick.
"Tiera, tonight at midnight, in the prize room, we'll duel one-on-one. Do you dare?" Malfoy said menacingly, then added, "Wands only!"
Clearly, because Tyella's final levitation spell embarrassed Malfoy, Malfoy hated the Muggle-born Tyella more than Harry.
Tyrell gave Malfoy a strange look, and the smile on her lips widened. Harry, who was sitting next to her, recognized that expression as sarcasm.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Tierra suddenly shouted, "Quiet down, everyone! Look over here!"
"Mr. Malfoy has challenged me to a wizarding duel!" Tierra shouted from the bench. "Tonight, at midnight! In the trophy room! Malfoy says he'll defeat me one-on-one!"
Tierra's shout drew almost everyone's attention.
Professor McGonagall and Snape had the sharpest eyes.
“Nonsense!” Professor McGonagall roared.
Snape gave Tierra a meaningful look.
Professor McGonagall is an old-fashioned and strict traditional lady. Although she did many outrageous things when she was young, she became more and more law-abiding as she got older.
"You haven't even learned a proper spell. What if you hurt someone? Do you even know that..." Professor McGonagall began her incessant lecture.
“Wait, Professor McGonagall,” Snape interrupted McGonagall.
“Maybe it’s not that serious,” Snape said.
"What do you mean, Dean Snape?" Professor McGonagall used honorifics.
“Perhaps we should have Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Wizard duel now, instead of waiting until midnight,” Snape said. “After all, wizard duels are something they will encounter sooner or later. Rather than having them encounter them in books or when they are unprepared, it’s better to let them experience it from a young age.”
“But what if they get hurt? What if their magic goes out of control? What if…” Professor McGonagall said worriedly.
“We’re here,” Snape said. “And Professor Flitwick, the dueling champion, is here with us. I think we should be able to keep them safe.”
“But Tyra is a Muggle-born child,” Professor McGonagall said worriedly, looking at Tyra. “He hasn’t learned much magic, and Malfoy…”
“Professor McGonagall, you said it before,” Snape said nonchalantly. “Tiera is a very talented young wizard, and I think… that talent should be enough to make up for her lack of magic.”
After saying that, Snape waved his wand.
The tables in the hall were moved to both sides.
A large open space was revealed in the middle. Since not many people had finished eating at this time, even though the dining table had been moved to the corner, it did not affect the young wizards present from having their dinner.
But who's in the mood for dinner these days?
A wizard duel!
This is a very important event.
They had only seen it in books before, or had never heard of it at all.
Thanks to Tyrell's antics during flying class, his name gradually spread among young wizards, though certainly not as much as the famous Harry Potter.
But he is considered one of the more well-known figures among this year's freshmen.
Tierra thought that was enough. He wanted to hide himself, but he couldn't let himself become too unknown, otherwise people would see him as an appendage of Harry Potter rather than a complete and independent person.
Therefore, he needs to step forward from time to time to make his presence felt, at least to occupy a certain position in the hearts of the young wizards of Gryffindor. This way, when Voldemort comes along, it will be much easier for him to organize the young wizards to resist or to escape on his own.
But that's not the kind of presence he wants, not the kind of presence that's the center of attention.
Tiera is now in a difficult position.
Malfoy was in a slightly better position than Thiera; he was already standing in the center of the field, looking at Thiera with a sneer.
Malfoy originally planned to lure Tierra to the prize display room in the middle of the night, and then tell Fitch so that Fitch would fire Tierra.
But unexpectedly, Tierra did not play by the rules and said it directly in public.
I originally thought the teachers would stop it.
Professor McGonagall did try to stop it at first, but she was interrupted by her own headmaster, Professor Snape.
It's alright, though it means Tiera won't be fired.
However, I can defeat him in a one-on-one fight and also make him look foolish.
Malfoy thought viciously.
Born into a wizarding family, he practiced magic with house-elves from a young age and never considered the possibility of losing.
"What's wrong, Tierra? Aren't you going up on stage?" Malfoy sneered. "Or are you scared?"
"Sigh..." Tiera sighed and walked to the middle with a sense of helplessness.
He had no choice but to accept this wizard duel. Unlike children in China, children abroad admired the strong as much as they despised the weak and cowards.
Especially within radical wizarding groups like Gryffindor.
He was almost certain that if he refused the duel invitation today, the young wizards of Gryffindor would use it to mock and ostracize him tomorrow.
After all, in the fourth book, Harry became the target of everyone's anger over the Goblet of Fire, let alone this coward who dared not accept a duel.
Over time, Harry, who has always been very conformist, will probably drift further and further away from him, and all his previous efforts and research funding will be lost.
"Don't go to Tyella!" Hermione, the only one who was still relatively rational, grabbed his sleeve as Tyella was about to step forward. "You don't know any spells at all. Malfoy is from a wizarding family, he knows more spells than you. You'll get hurt."
“You haven’t accepted Malfoy’s invitation yet, have you?” Hermione said amidst the cheers of a group of Gryffindor wizards. “You haven’t said yes, you can simply refuse.”
"What's wrong, Tyella? Want to say a final goodbye to your little girlfriend?" Malfoy mocked from the center of the arena, eliciting a burst of laughter from the Slytherin table.
