"Island?" Gu Jiu looked a little stern and asked doubtfully.

The True Buddha's clone nodded and said, "Yes, an island. Outside of the Tang Kingdom are the Nanzhao, Lingyue, Xuanmeng, and other countries. And then what? What's beyond them?"

Gu Jiu was puzzled and asked, "Could it be the sea?"

The True Buddha's clone shook his head and said, "It's not the sea, but it's better than the sea. What surrounds us is chaos, not a place for humans to survive. If I had to describe it, Taoists would call it 'Yin'."

In the world of 'Yin', everything is chaotic and disordered, there is no distinction between day and night, and there is not even the concept of time.

There may be absolute darkness there for hundreds of years, without a trace of light, and the sun may not set for hundreds of years, just like a furnace. Anything that can survive there is absolutely beyond human imagination.

What lies within the Yin world is only glimpsed in the oldest Buddhist and Taoist texts, which contain only a few cryptic accounts, such as mountains of bones and "people" who often appear in human skin. One particularly intriguing theory is that the Yin is a vast entity, and everything within it reflects its emotions.

Hearing this, Gu Jiu felt a little shocked. If "Yin" is a living creature, how big must it be? After all, the land where humans live can only be called an "island" wrapped by it.

The True Buddha's clone smiled and continued, "Of course, this is all just nonsense. There's not much real evidence about what the underworld is like, because no one has ever returned from there alive, not even the Buddha."

Hearing this, Gu Jiu stood up and said, "What does it mean that Buddha doesn't have it either?"

The True Buddha's clone couldn't help but say, "Don't worry, my friend. Let me explain it slowly."

In the darkness of the night, not knowing whether it was an illusion or for some other reason, Gu Jiu actually felt that the expression of the True Buddha's clone was a little strange.

At this time, the True Buddha's clone continued, "If the outside world is 'yin,' then the world we exist in is 'yang.' Legend has it that this world was originally a world of yin, until a spring of pure yang gushed out from the ground, and then this land came into being, and then people came into being.

The world of Yang is orderly, from which humans were born, and then Buddhas and immortals appeared. However, the spring of pure Yang will eventually dry up. As the spring of pure Yang dwindles, the external Yin continues to press upon the land where we live, until many strange things appear. This great tree, called the Wild Toad, comes from the world of Yin.

When Lü Zu's sword slashed through the Ghost Gate, he was actually slicing the huge rift between the Yin and the Yang. In fact, any rift in this land that connects to the Yin world can be called a Ghost Gate.

After hearing this, Gu Jiucai realized for the first time what the world was like.

He couldn't help but look at the True Buddha's clone and said, "What about the Buddha I mentioned earlier?"

The True Buddha's clone looked at Gu Jiu and sighed, "As you can see, the land we live in is now in a state of chaotic faith. This is a sign of disorder. This is because there are no more immortals or Buddhas in this land."

Hearing this, Gu Jiu couldn't help but frown.

"Four thousand years ago, Buddhism and Taoism merged into one. The Buddha and the Taoist patriarch took a group of immortals and Buddhas and went out into the world, never to return. We Buddhists and Taoists call this 'the immortals and Buddhas entering the calamity'."

In the darkness of the night, a cool breeze blew, and Gu Jiu felt a little cold.

He looked at the True Buddha clone and asked, "Why are they going outside?"

The True Buddha's clone shook his head and said, "No one knows the reason. We only know they never returned. I even suspect that the decline of my Dharma over the past thousand years is probably due to something happening to the Buddha outside."

At this time, the True Buddha's clone stood up, turned around, pointed at the burnt tree, and said, "The wild toad comes from the 'yin'. In fact, its original appearance is not a tree."

As he spoke, the True Buddha's clone walked over.

He was seen pressing his broad Buddha's hand on the tree, which was burned like a piece of scrap copper and iron.

Immediately afterwards, a strange sound was heard in Taohua Temple, as if countless drums that were about to be broken were being struck by heavy hammers, and the sound was extremely dull.

The strange, burnt tree shed a layer of skin at a speed visible to the naked eye, and then what appeared in Gu Jiu's eyes was a toad.

A huge toad, as big as a hill.

The back of this toad is covered with textures, and dark red blood lines are interspersed in the textures. It looks like thick blood vessels, which is very disgusting.

Just by taking a look, Gu Jiu felt a sense of ancient aura.

This toad has lived from tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of years ago to the present day, and time seems to have become rotten and old on it.

Gu Jiu was born not to like toads, let alone a toad like this one.

Even though it closed its eyes, Gu Jiu felt a little nauseous and even scared.

Even though he had just defeated it, Gu Jiu was still a little afraid. This fear seemed natural and rooted deep in his soul.

Field mice fear snakes, and snakes fear eagles, that's how it is.

Its existence seems to be born to be a level higher than humans.

Gu Jiu didn't have this feeling even when he faced the ghost dragon.

At this moment, Gu Jiu's pupils suddenly contracted and turned into two dark dots.

As he was looking at it, the True Buddha's clone opened his mouth and bit the sleeping toad's head.

Although he was extremely tall, he looked ordinary compared to the wild toad that was as big as a hill. However, at this moment he pretended to swallow the other one.

After finding it difficult to swallow the other party, the True Buddha clone began to bite it apart.

The wild toad lay there motionless, while the True Buddha's clone had already torn open its flesh and blood and swallowed it into its stomach.

Under the cold moonlight, the appearance of the True Buddha's clone tearing and chewing things apart did not resemble that of a Buddha at all. It was simply like a wild beast that had been hungry and thirsty for who knows how many years.

No, it's more terrifying than a beast.

The True Buddha's incarnation had his eyes wide open as he devoured the mountain of wild toad's flesh and blood like a madman.

In less than half an hour, he had eaten up the mountain of meat, and then he looked at Gu Jiu.

Gu Jiu had already stood up and looked at the other person coldly, feeling a chill down his spine.

The True Buddha's clone, with flesh still hanging between its teeth, smiled and said, "Don't worry, my friend. If I don't swallow it, it will start causing trouble again in no time."

Looking at the pot-bellied True Buddha clone, Gu Jiu frowned and said, "I never thought you had this side to you."

The True Buddha's clone chuckled and said, "I've told you, my friend, that among our twelve clones, we all have very different personalities. Some like to be active, some prefer to be quiet, and I'm the one who naturally loves to eat."

Looking at the other person's smile with blood on the corner of his mouth, Gu Jiu was speechless for a moment.

After noticing that Gu Jiu was looking at him with a strange look, the True Buddha clone suddenly said, "Young friend, you don't think I'm a cannibal, do you?"

Under the cold moonlight, he opened his big eyes, with blood at the corners of his mouth, and looked actually evil.

Gu Jiu didn't say anything. Under his telepathy, the sword bracelet on his wrist was already stirring.

At this time, the True Buddha's clone sat down on the ground, and the earth shook violently.

He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said, "I am the incarnation chosen by the Buddha, so I naturally wouldn't do such evil things. It's just that as Buddhism declines, my appetite has indeed grown larger, but this wild toad is more than enough to fill my stomach. It won't die, and I can't digest it. This is the only way I can better calm it."

Gu Jiu narrowed his eyes, was silent for a while, and said: "I hope you are telling the truth, otherwise I don't mind killing you."

At this time, the True Buddha's incarnation's expression became solemn and returned to the Buddha's original appearance.

He looked at Gu Jiu and said seriously, "If I ever do something evil, I will surely die at the hands of Gu Xiaoyou's sword."

As the incarnation of the true Buddha, he made a great wish in front of Gu Jiu.

Immediately afterwards, the True Buddha's clone stood up and said, "I'm frightening mortals like this, so I'm going to leave for a deserted place under the cover of night. I'm leaving now. My friend has extraordinary talent, no less than that of gods and Buddhas. I hope that one day you can save the world from disaster."

Gu Jiudao: "What should I do?"

"In the realm of Yang, all things are orderly, operating according to their order, each occupying their proper place. This is good, while breaking the rules and disrupting order is evil. Like the wild toad in my belly, it devours living beings, causing disorder and chaos here. This is evil. The power of Yin is constantly encroaching. I hope you can join the other cultivators in slaying the evil Yin with your swords and restore a pure Yang land to humanity.

My friends, please know that there are no more immortals or Buddhas in this world, and you are the future immortals and Buddhas."

Having said that, the True Buddha's clone bowed to Gu Jiu and said goodbye.

In the dim night, half of his face was in shadow. No one could see the expression on his face, and no one could tell whether he was good or evil, not even Gu Jiu.

Watching the huge figure step away and gradually disappear into the night, Gu Jiu did not take action in the end.

But he knew, as the other party had said, if the other party did evil one day, he would kill him with his sword even if he was thousands of miles away.

In the darkness of the night, Gu Jiu lay on the rattan chair and sighed softly.

So this is how the world is.

Chapter 1: Frightening the Heavenly Being

In the darkness of the night, the true Buddha's clone was running.

His running posture was not strange, it was no different from that of an ordinary person, but it did look a bit strange that a Buddha did not ride on the clouds but chose to run instead.

Fortunately, there were not so many brave people who dared to walk at night in the north, so his figure was only seen by some birds and beasts.

After running hundreds of miles, this true Buddha's clone finally stopped in a valley.

He looked back at the road he had run, half of his face was illuminated by the moonlight, and the other half was shrouded in shadow, his expression flickering in the night.

……

The true Buddha's clone left, and Gu Jiu also turned around and was about to leave.

But at this moment, the Haoyu sword in his hand flew out with a buzzing sound and drilled into the ground.

Gu Jiu looked at this scene and was a little surprised.

After about half a cup of tea, the Haoyu Sword flew back from underground, but there was a fragment of a scripture on the tip of the sword.

Gu Jiu took the fragment of the scripture and raised his brows slightly.

Before, he was immersed in digesting the knowledge of the world view, and later he was shocked by the good and evil nature of the True Buddha's incarnation, so he completely forgot to ask about the scriptures.

Now that I think about it carefully, the reason I came here to destroy Taohua Temple and rescue the incarnation of the True Buddha was largely because of this sutra.

The scriptures left by the Buddha could improve his physical condition, but they were incomplete, so what he wanted to do was to put these fragments together.

He didn't expect that it would be the Haoyu Sword, not the True Buddha's clone, that would help him find the scripture.

The scripture in my hand felt warm to the touch, like jade.

Gu Jiu frowned slightly and began to think.

When the True Buddha's clone left, he did not take the scripture with him, nor did he give it to him. Instead, he left it in the underground ruins. Why was that?

Logically speaking, this thing is a treasure to the True Buddha's clone, and there is no reason for him to just abandon it there. Or maybe the other party knows that the Haoyu Sword can help him find the remaining scroll of the scripture?

Could there be another possibility, that the True Buddha's clone had no intention of taking the scripture away, nor did he intend to give it to him?

Thinking of the appearance of the True Buddha's clone when it swallowed the wild toad, Gu Jiu couldn't help but start to doubt - is it possible that the True Buddha's clone can no longer take away the remaining scriptures?

Gu Jiu looked at the scroll in his hand that was as smooth as jade and couldn't help but close his eyes.

Soon, a ray of golden light entered his body, as if surrounded by sunlight.

Gu Jiu suddenly felt enlightened again, but then the pleasure died down halfway through.

Immediately afterwards, the fragments of the scriptures disappeared like melting snow.

Although the "Mahavairocana Sutra" is still incomplete, the combination of the two fragments has formed a small prototype in Gu Jiu's sea of consciousness, allowing him to complete a cycle.

After the energy of the "Mahavairocana Sutra" completed a cycle throughout his body, Gu Jiu felt warm all over.

Then he suddenly felt itchy on his chin, as if countless ants were crawling on the wound.

Even Gu Jiu wanted to scratch it with his hands at this moment, but he held back.

After half a cup of tea, a faint Buddha light appeared on Gu Jiu's body, and then the scar on his chin began to bleed again.

Black blood.

The blood fell to the ground, making a squeaking sound and sending out bursts of black smoke, with even some tiny strange insects in it.

Gu Jiu knew that this was a sign of poisoning.

You should know that he was born with a sword body and is immune to all poisons. Unexpectedly, he was poisoned by Guanyin. This shows how dangerous Guanyin is.

He had not felt any discomfort from the poison left by Guanyin's claws before. If it were not for the energy of the "Mahavairocana Sutra" that forced it out, he would probably have found it difficult to detect.

Speaking of Guanyin, Gu Jiu suddenly realized that he seemed to have forgotten to ask what this Guanyin was all about.

Damn, why do I keep forgetting things lately?

About half an incense stick later, the black blood on Gu Jiu's chin had all flowed out, and the poison was considered to have been cured.

He recited the "Mahavairocana Sutra" once more, and felt warm all over and very comfortable.

Feeling almost comfortable, Gu Jiu knew it was time for him to leave.

He stood outside the Peach Blossom Temple, which had been razed to the ground, and blew a loud whistle.

About two cups of tea later, Xiao Hui appeared in his sight.

Seeing this, Gu Jiu couldn't help but ask, "How far away did you have to hide to come here now?"

Little Gray made a series of "bleating" sounds and seemed a little embarrassed.

But then it remembered something and continued to bleat for a while with a righteous look, indicating that if it didn't stay away, it would probably fall into the pit.

So, Gu Jiu lay on Xiao Hui's back and rode away on the donkey.

As he left, he waved his sleeves and took away not a cloud, leaving behind only this terrible mess.
