"Has Tomatsu finally conquered Matsueda-san?"

The whispers of the girls in the wind band sounded like the wind blowing across the lawn.

"Ah! Chun-ge! Chun-ge is back!"

In the audience seats below the stage, sharp-eyed children spotted two people approaching from the side and shouted in surprise.

Jun Matsueda jumped onto the stage, "Children, the king of Mitaka City Welfare Home is back!"

"Ohhh!!!"

He was immediately surrounded by the chattering of excited children.

Yamami Maki ignored Matsueda Jun's sudden change of style and asked Tomatsu Tomoka who had returned to the group of girls, "Tomoka, have you found the director? According to the procedure, you need to contact the director after the performance."

Tomatsu Tomoka shook her head. She met Matsueda Jun at the gate just now because she went to see the dean.

"If you want to find the director, I'll take you there." Jun Matsueda walked past the children and came to the wind band.

"I didn't expect to see Matsueda-san here." Yamami Maki bowed her head and a girl in the back row couldn't help but ask, "Does Matsueda-san come here often?"

Yamami Maki and Tomatsu Touka looked at the girl who spoke, and scared her so much that she shrank back into the crowd.

"I'm sorry, Matsueda-kun, my club member was too reckless." Yamami Maki bowed to Matsueda Jun again to apologize.

"Ah, it's okay. It's nothing to be ashamed of." Matsueda Jun lowered his head and reached out, picked up the two naughty kids around his waist, and carried them on his shoulders. "Because this is where I grew up."

Jun Matsueda smiled a smile as bright as a sunflower, and the screams of the child on his shoulder echoed across the lawn.

The girls in the wind band were grouped in twos and threes, led by Tomatsu Tomoka and Yamami Maki, following behind Matsueda Jun. From a distance, they looked like a mother goose with a group of golden ducklings.

Yamami Maki came to the end of the line and found the girl who had just spoken. "Gujima Naoko, please think carefully before speaking in the future. When we are out there with our instruments, we represent the Hanaoka High School Wind Band. Don't leave a bad impression on others."

Her tone was unusually serious, and the girl nodded quickly, "Yes! I will be careful next time."

"Don't talk about Matsueda-san's affairs in school, okay?" Yamami Maki warned the other members around her before walking back to the front of the team. "Excuse me, Matsueda-san, I just had something to tell you."

"Don't worry, Yamami-senpai. You don't need to come with us. The members can go somewhere else to rest."

"It's okay. This is our first time here and we want to walk around and satisfy our curiosity." Yamami Moki smiled slightly.

Tomatsu Tomoka sighed and thought that it would be better if the manager had not come along. That way, she would be the one giving instructions to the members and chatting with Jun-kun, which would perfectly demonstrate her gentleness and thoughtfulness.

"The director's wife should be in the vegetable garden at this time." Matsueda Jun pointed to the green not far away, where a hint of silver could be seen swaying.

"Grandma, I told you a long time ago, just leave this kind of thing to someone else. It's such a hot day!"

The girls stood at the edge of the field and watched Jun Matsueda walk into the vegetable patch and snatch the kettle from the old man's hand.

"Oh, Xiaochun is back." The silver-haired old man smiled, his tone was surprised, but he didn't look surprised at all.

The elderly woman, Hirotani Tomomi, has been managing the Mitaka City Welfare Home since she was 42. She has been doing so for 31 years now, and she always maintains a calm and composed smile. The children all call her Grandma Miko.

She walked out of the vegetable garden and waved to the girls one by one: "Sorry, just listening to your performance, I felt like my heart was rejuvenated, and I couldn't help but run to the vegetable garden to work."

"It's our honor." The girls in the wind band responded one after another. This is an old man worthy of respect.

"After Xiaochun finishes watering, we'll go have lunch."

The old man, once a young girl, stood with the girls, watching Jun Matsueda working. He watered the plants with a kettle, occasionally bending down to pull weeds or straighten plants blown by the wind. When he finally stood up, Jun Matsueda was holding cucumbers, lettuce, and potatoes and smiling at everyone.

"Today's lunch will be very fresh."

Jun Matsueda in school is too perfect. Even the girls in the wind band would be intimidated when they see him. However, the boy in front of him looks like a boy next door in the countryside. He has clear eyebrows and eyes under his straw hat, and his teeth are shiny when he smiles. Beads of sweat flow along his jawline.

The water surface in the field reflected the girls' dazed faces, and the old man was very satisfied.

This is the most shining child in Mitaka City Orphanage whom she watched grow up.

The dining table in the cafeteria was several long tables. Dean Junhe Matsueda, as the host, sat with the wind orchestra.

"These potatoes and lettuce were just picked by Xiaochun from the fields. You can't find such natural ones in the city," Grandma Meiko greeted the girls with a smile.

Tomatsu Tomoka and Yamami Maki each picked up a piece of lettuce with their chopsticks and put it into their mouths, holding it with their left hands. It was a very ladylike way of eating, and the two of them moved in unison, like sisters.

"Well, it's really delicious!" Tomatsu Tomoka covered her mouth and praised the dean, and the old man laughed.

From the first moment she saw the old woman, Tomatsu Tomoka was ready to please her.

"Brother Chun!" The child sitting nearby pulled Matsueda Jun, wanting to take him to the children's area. Matsueda Jun had no choice but to leave with the bowl.

Naoko Gujima chewed some vegetables and looked at Jun Matsueda, who was posing among the children. He still had chopsticks in his mouth and said to his companions, "It feels so novel to see Matsueda like this."

The girl next to him nodded in agreement, "Just seeing Matsueda-kun like this makes this trip worthwhile."

"Why did you call Matsueda-kun already?"

"Hehe..." The girl giggled, but when Tomatsu Tomoka looked at her, she didn't dare to laugh anymore.

After lunch, the director returned to his office to sort out some paperwork, and the band also left. Only Tomatsu Tomoka remained in the orphanage. She said she had lost her keychain and needed to look for it, but the girls were too lazy to expose her.

Everyone brought out chairs and sat under the eaves, looking at the dazzling green trees in the sun, listening to the never-tiring chirping of cicadas, and hiding in the shade to cool off.

"The long summer..." Someone was mumbling.

"Why do you say you don't want to take the exam?" The low voice of Jun Matsueda suddenly came from the hall behind them, with unconcealable anger, shaking away their sleepiness.

"Why do you say you don't want to take the high school entrance exam? Do you want to leave the orphanage?" Everyone walked into the hall and saw Matsueda Jun questioning the boy standing in front of him.

"Do you know what it means to live alone?!" Jun Matsueda's anger echoed in the hall, silencing everyone.

The boy's skin was a little dark, and he didn't dare to meet Matsueda Jun's gaze. Even with his head lowered, he couldn't hide his stubborn eyes.

In Neon, there are about 30,000 minors living in welfare homes. If they fail to get into high school, they have to leave the welfare homes early and face the cruel society alone.

Chapter 24 Orphanage Story

"What happened?" Tomatsu Tomoka asked the girl next to her. The girl looked to be in the second or third year of junior high school and she had appeared at some point in her life.

"Yuji doesn't want to take the high school entrance exam anymore." The girl didn't look surprised. "By the way, who are you, sister?"

"My name is Tomatsu Tomoka, and I'm Jun-kun's classmate." Her tone was natural and intimate, as if she was saying that she was Matsueda Jun's lover.

The girl looked Tomatsu Tomoka up and down, then moved closer to her and sniffed her.

"Um, what is this for?" Tomatsu Tomoka shrank back.

"Nothing, just my personal habit." The girl smiled and muttered to herself, "It's not the smell of a good woman..."

The others noticed the girl hiding behind the crowd and pulled her to the front, "Aya-chan, go and talk him down. Jun-niang looks so angry! Yuji's going to get beaten!"

Aya Miyamura walked to the front of the crowd and saw the two people confronting each other. Matsueda Jun was about to attack, so she rushed forward.

"Brother Jun, calm down and don't do anything!" The girl held both of Matsueda Jun's hands in her arms. Tomatsu Touka behind the crowd was dumbfounded.

Why can she hug Chunjun so casually?

"When did I ever attack my own people?" He let go of the girl who was holding him and rubbed Akagi Yuji's head fiercely, "Tell me the truth, kid!"

Yuji Akagi's father was a gambler, and his mother disappeared after he was born. When he was 8 years old, his father went out to play marbles, leaving him alone in the rented house and never came back. After that, he came to the welfare home.

"Although your grades aren't very good, weren't you studying hard before? Why did you suddenly give up?"

Jun Matsueda picked up the game cards on the table. The two were in Yuji's room, while Tomatsu Touka and Miyamura Aya were outside the door.

Akagi Yuji stammered, "I want to be like Jun-ge, become independent sooner rather than later, and save some money for the welfare home."

"What kind of money are you saving?" Matsueda Jun slapped the boy's egg-white hair without any hesitation. "Is this something you need to consider? Huh?"

"With your appetite, how much money can you spend on public school? You might as well find a way to get more education and get a scholarship like your brother and I."

"I'm not going to high school anyway!" the boy shouted as if he was angry.

Jun Matsueda looked at him and walked out of the room under the boy's frightened eyes.

"Aya-chan, what's going on?" Matsueda Jun closed the door and asked the girl next to him.

Tomatsu Tomoka watched the two of them talking as if no one was around, and a sour feeling began to rise and fall in her heart.

"Yongsi saw his dead father some time ago." The girl leaned against the door and curled her lips.

"Isn't that good?" Jun Matsueda wondered.

The expectations of children in welfare homes for their parents are unimaginable to ordinary people. Even if they are abandoned, they will still want to see their parents for no reason.

In the orphanage, children's love is more selfless than that of their parents.

"His father told him that he has a new lover and can no longer support him." Miyamura Aya sighed.

The family I once had can never be returned to.

Both Aya Miyamura and Jun Matsueda have never seen their parents since they were born, but they can understand this feeling.

"I don't care about him anymore!" The door of the room opened unknowingly, and Akagi Yuji said standing at the door.

"I'm just a little surprised and a little annoyed, that's all, just a little bit." The boy lowered his head.

Jun Matsueda walked up to him and said, "I remember you had a photo of your father on your desk before, right?"

"I don't know where it went. I lost it."

"Did you lose it?"

"Ahh, I lost it. Anyway, it's gone!"

"Don't you want to see your father anymore?" Miyamura Aya asked tentatively.

"No, I hate that man! I don't want to see him! He didn't abandon me, I gave up on him!" Akagi Yuji said with clenched fists.

"You can't give up on yourself, though." Matsueda Jun's voice was softer than ever before. "Look, if you leave the orphanage, who can you turn to when you want to act like a spoiled brat?"

"No need to act like a spoiled brat! I'm already in junior high school!"

Don’t say things like it’s a matter of course… Tomatsu Yuka thought to herself.

Matsueda Jun sighed and pressed Akagi Yuji's head into his arms. The boy struggled for a few times, but soon stopped moving, and his shoulders began to tremble.

"Cry, cry, it'll be better if you cry. We all go through this." Matsueda Jun patted him on the back. "Study hard and get into a good high school, okay?"

The boy whimpered and nodded.

Jun Matsueda sent the crying Yuji Akagi into the room. When he came out, there were two more people outside the door, the director's grandmother and Haruka Mochizuki.

"Why is Mochizuki-san here?" Tomatsu Tomoka smiled unfriendlyly, but Mochizuki Haruka didn't bother to pay attention to her.

"Miss Mochizuki brought a construction team to conduct an inspection. If there are any buildings and installations that are too old, they must be renovated and repaired in a timely manner." The director's grandmother smiled as she explained.

"Compared to someone who stayed in the welfare home for no apparent reason, I think I am still very welcome here." Mochizuki Haruka spoke lightly.

Miyamura Aya watched from the corner. Fight! A fight would be best, since neither of them seemed like a good woman anyway.

"This is my home, at least give me some face. If you want to quarrel, go outside, okay?" Jun Matsueda had just finished comforting one child and now had to deal with two more. He felt a little tired.

The two stopped talking and everyone around them stayed away from them.

"I've said it before, Chun will definitely have affairs after he gets out. Look, in less than half a year, two girls are already chasing him."

"Natsumi-chan, do you have no chance?"

"Wow, my Chun-ge, we clearly agreed that Xia Mei would be Chun-ge's bride!"

"I saw in the anime that guys like Jun-ge never had a good ending. Some even lost their heads..."

"Okay, go do what you need to do--" Matsueda Jun's voice was soft and helpless, like a brown bear showing its belly covered with honey.

Fortunately, the other members of the wind band had already left. Tomatsu Tomoka secretly felt relieved. If they had heard Junjun's voice, who knows how many more would have fallen.

The orphanage returned to peace, and a few idle people began to stroll around. Matsueda Jun was in the middle, with the director on his left, Ayaka on his right, Mochizuki Haruka on the far left, and Tomatsu Yuka on the far right.

Cai-chan introduced herself on the way: "I am Miyamura Cai, and I am as close as brother and sister to Jun-nii. We grew up together."

It turned out to be a younger sister-type character. Tomatsu Tomoka breathed a sigh of relief, as there was one more person she needed to please.

After dinner, Tomatsu Tomoka said that her home was too far away and she hoped to stay for one night. After the director's grandmother agreed, Mochizuki Haruka stayed quietly.

The experienced dean is well versed in checks and balances.

The two of them slept in the same room. Because they didn't talk, the room was quiet, with only the chirping of insects outside the window.

The walls are thin and I can hear the conversation between the grandma and Caichan next door.

"Ai-chan, which sister do you think Chun-chan would be happiest with?"

Chapter 25: Jun Matsueda's dream begins here

Tomatsu Tomoka and Mochizuki Haruka were both huddled in their beds, holding their breath and listening intently to Miyamura Aya talking next door.

"I don't think those two are suitable for Chun-ge." The girl said firmly, "They both taste weird."
