Chapter Sixteen: Professor Worthy

Time came to the second day.

Ye Xiao eventually let Greta into the room.

Miss Su was still a little shy. Although she was called "wife," she was still a young girl in her prime. Even with Greta's warm invitation, she only blushed and hugged Ye Xiao. After saying goodnight, she hid in the next room and did not join the Demon God's unrestrained plan to sleep together.

Even with the lights off, Greta wasn't still, rubbing against Ye Xiao, who couldn't sleep at all. Ye Xiao had to "discipline" Greta properly before the little one finally calmed down and snuggled into Ye Xiao's arms like a mealworm to fall asleep.

As sunlight streamed through the curtains, Ye Xiao woke up, holding the pink-haired girl who was lying on his chest. His arm around the girl's back was almost numb.

Movies are all lies. No matter how cute the girl in your arms is, sleeping with her in your arms will only torture your arms.

Unless the other person is completely on top of you, that would be torture for your heart.

Moreover, this guy's plush baby pajamas were incredibly hot. In the middle of the night, he clung to Ye Xiao like a sloth, the large plush robe and bat wings wrapping around Ye Xiao, almost giving him heat rash.

Although the girl was only wearing this bathrobe, the experience was actually quite good if you disregard the temperature... but Ye Xiao was still forced to manually cast an ice spell to lower the room temperature.

Even so, seeing that sleepy-eyed, adorable face when you open your eyes in the morning is still somewhat pleasant.

This girl is indeed mischievous, but what can we do? Of course, we choose to forgive her.

After moving her hands around a bit and waiting for the soreness and numbness to subside, Ye Xiao cupped her soft cheeks in her palms and rubbed them like dough.

"It's morning, time to wake up, Lady Greta."

"Well……"

Greta opened her eyes groggily, her lips pouting as she arched upwards like a caterpillar.

"?"

Ye Xiao's eyes revealed confusion.

When Greta saw that Ye Xiao did not respond, she swayed her body twice in a coquettish manner.

"Ugh! In your comics, the male and female leads always kiss in the morning after spending the night together, I want that too!!"

"Have your staff started drawing this kind of comic yet?"

Ye Xiao was speechless.

Unable to resist Greta's persistent pleading, Ye Xiao gave her a quick kiss before the little one reluctantly got out of bed.

After dressing the Demon Lord, Ye Xiao opened the door, and a mouthful of delicious food aroma immediately filled her nostrils.

"Get up."

The girl with her black hair tied back brought a pot of steaming mushroom soup to the table and smiled as she nodded slightly to the two of them.

Sunlight streamed through the rising steam from the pot, illuminating Miss Su's serene face, making her look warm and beautiful.

Ye Xiao suddenly felt like she had struck gold.

While yawning and holding Ye Xiao's clothes, Gladys's golden eyes lit up as she smelled the fragrance in the living room.

When Susie Yun is not having an episode, she is indeed not as lively as the other girls. She is even very quiet at times, which often makes people think that she is a bit cold.

But in reality, this girl's way of expressing love is often more subtle and gradual, like a gentle spring breeze embracing someone.

This made Ye Xiao feel even more guilty about his previous faked death at the Samuel Hermitage, which had caused the other party to experience that period of despair.

Those hands, which were meant to hold knives, picked up kitchen utensils for him.

Compared to the epic battles he had fought and the life-and-death separations he had experienced, this scene before him was not particularly shocking, but Ye Xiao still couldn't help but feel a little moved.

Good morning, Miss Su.

Ye Xiao affectionately patted Su Xiyun's head, and then tapped Greta's little head, who couldn't resist reaching for the soup. "What about manners, little sister?"

"Thank you so much for the mushroom soup, sister-in-law, hehe."

Greta Adam looked very well-behaved, and even made a sun symbol on her chest with her hand.

"Is it alright for you to perform the prayer gestures in the church?"

Ye Xiao asked curiously.

"So what? I've even been a bishop in a church."

Greta covered her mouth and gave a mischievous smile.

Ye Xiao suddenly remembered some of the demons that had infiltrated the church in certain movies that Lan Xing had watched.

The warm and pleasant breakfast time passed quickly, and Ye Xiao, along with Greta, left the house under Miss Su's watchful gaze.

……

There were significantly more students on the road this morning than last night.

Ye Xiao, the newly arrived professor from out of town, and the cute pink-haired girl he was holding hands with, dismounted from their horse and immediately attracted a lot of attention.

After all, even in Aslan, where everyone is handsome or beautiful, Greta's beauty is undoubtedly among the best.

"I've delivered it to your college office door this time, so don't forget again."

Ye Xiao straightened the girl's collar and patiently gave her instructions.

Don't worry, brother!

Greta playfully stuck out her tongue, and the two "brother"s she uttered in her childish voice were especially endearing, as if she was afraid of failing to express the deeper meaning behind her "sibling" relationship with Ye Xiao.

"Go quickly, go quickly."

Ye Xiao pulled down the brim of his hat and shooed the little guy inside with a huff before getting back into the carriage and heading to the location where his first lesson was scheduled.

Similar to universities on Earth, the courses at Haiya Academy are also taught in large, mobile classrooms, with each professor's class often consisting of several different groups of students.

This is the first time Ye Xiao has ever been a proper teacher in all these years. Although his identity is fake and the lesson plan was collected (borrowed) by Skadi from the old teachers of the Royal National Academy of Loren, this class is the real deal.

I wonder what kind of students that old dean assigned to him.

Standing at the classroom door, Ye Xiao adjusted her expression before slowly walking into the classroom.

Although it's just for show, he certainly can't teach too badly, otherwise his teaching level will be questioned, which might affect the authenticity of his identity.

Therefore, Ye Xiao was surprisingly a little reserved.

The classroom was initially filled with a noisy chatter, but it quieted down slightly after Ye Xiao entered.

Some students were still whispering to each other, but they kept their voices down.

"This is the new professor of elemental magic?"

"He looks so young, is this guy any good?"

"Black hair, could he be from Dongyang? He seems a bit gloomy..."

Even so, with Ye Xiao's perception, he could hear the conversations throughout the entire classroom clearly.

"First of all, I am from Tedeh, my friend."

Ye Xiao spread the teaching materials on the podium, his gaze, behind his monocle, pierced through several rows and locked onto the student who had called him "gloomy." "As for being gloomy, I can only say that it's just because you don't know me very well yet."

"Holy crap!? He can hear me??? How did he do that???"

The student's gaze met Ye Xiao's. Startled but unsure, he exclaimed in a very low voice to his deskmate.

"Of course, also, according to the college rules, impolite language in class should be deducted one point, but since this is the first time we've met, I won't remember it this time. But there can't be a next time, okay?"

His exclamation was quickly met with a response from Ye Xiao.

"Turtle...!!??"

The student stared wide-eyed, covered his mouth, and dared not utter another sound.

However, it wasn't just him. After Ye Xiao casually uttered those two sentences, his gaze swept across the entire classroom, and it fell completely silent.

He then smiled, casually flicked his wrist, and the chalk in the distance flew into his palm as if it had grown wings.

"Nice to meet you all."

As she spoke, Ye Xiao wrote her name on the blackboard with chalk.

"My name is Vossab Brand, and I welcome all students to my Elemental Magic class."

Chapter Seventeen, Lesson One

For students, there is probably nothing more terrifying in the world than a teacher with super hearing and super vision.

This new professor seems to have X-ray vision; he can spot anyone snacking, sleeping, or secretly kissing... he catches them all.

However, Ye Xiao was not there to reform the academic atmosphere. He only treated it as a simple show of force to establish his professorial image, and then he did not maintain such a strict style.

Even so, the students in class didn't dare to be distracted even for a moment.

“The incantation structure of elemental spells is actually somewhat similar to that of divine spells, which is the conventional three-part structure: who you are, what element you need, and what you want this element to do for you.”

"Although as our understanding of elemental spells deepens, the first step of shortening the incantation often involves omitting the first part, the subject."

"This is easy to understand. After all, the caster's identity is often the clearest part of the spellcasting process, and it's the simplest way to incorporate it into the spell's structure using one's thoughts..."

After reading a few paragraphs from the lesson plan, Ye Xiao frowned slightly.

It's not surprising that the students in the audience always wanted to sleep; the world's educational methods do seem to be somewhat outdated.

The textbook neatly lists the known magical theories, but does not delve into any further extensions.

This is indeed efficient, after all, it's a path already explored by countless predecessors. The simplified three-stage process must prioritize omitting the caster, because omitting the spell incantation of other structures first has been considered a wrong approach in many previous attempts.

However, these so-called "errors" often stem from experiential conclusions drawn from accumulated observations. But are such experiences always the most accurate in all situations?

For beginners who lack precise control over their mana, omitting "caster" during incantation is the best way to speed up spellcasting.

Does this also apply to mages who have already reached the master level?

Perhaps Ye Xiao himself was tired of reading from the textbook, or perhaps he had become somewhat interested in the question, he casually called on a student in the audience to stand up and asked in a gentle voice:

"Please welcome this student. Now, let me ask you, what happens if the 'element' structure is omitted first during the three-stage spellcasting process?"

"Ah...uh..."

The student who was called upon was completely bewildered. "If I don't specify any elements and just use magic to gather them... won't I blow myself up due to the elemental chaos?"

"Well, not entirely wrong. Without precise control and without structural constraints, the different elements that come together can easily react with each other. At best, the spell will fail; at worst, it will cause an explosion, killing yourself and your teammates."

There was some laughter in the classroom, and Ye Xiao smiled slightly.

"Fortunately, we're not exploring an underground city right now, so let's do a simple experiment."

As he spoke, he snapped his fingers and whispered, "I am the mage Worshalbrand, summon any elemental force that responds to my call."

The students had seen high-level mages teach many instant-cast spells, but this was the first time they had ever seen such a chaotic incantation.

Such a spell, if seen by some old-fashioned professors, would probably start with a stern rebuke: "Are you treating magic like a joke?!"

But just when everyone thought there would be elemental chaos and colorful fireworks would be set off on stage, a blue water ball suddenly floated in mid-air.

"Oh, it seems that this area is rich in water element. If not specified, the concentration of water element would be even greater."

Ye Xiao then looked at the male student he had singled out, "What's your name?"

“Tucker… Tuckerdomz, Professor.”

"Tucker, what methods do you usually use to deal with water elemental attacks?"

"In terms of elemental counters, the usual method is to use earth or wood-based spells to counter them."

Tucker scratched his head.

"Good. Now, go to the corridor and defend against this... um, water ball spell, according to your understanding."

"No problem, Professor."

Tucker walked into the corridor, stared at the small water sphere floating in the air, and waved his staff while uttering syllables.

A deep green magic circle appeared, and a shield made of vines blocked his chest.

"A very standard chant."

Ye Xiao offered a fair assessment: "Do you think your vine shield can block this water ball?"

"There shouldn't be any problems, right?"
