Author's voice:

Teshima's Story is truly my favorite Inazuma story. When I watched Frilian, the dwarf reminded me of this story.

That's why I like Yingbao, I love Yingbao, but I still want to draw her.

Chapter 168 The Knife Engraved with 'Benevolence and Righteousness'

The second story is about a samurai who lost his divine eye.

It wasn't just ordinary people; even soldiers of the Shogunate army were stripped of their God's Eyes.

When the traveler arrived, the samurai was surrounded by the crowd and seemed to be arguing about something.

Upon closer listening, it turned out to be about the relief rations. It sounded like the samurai had embezzled this month's relief rations.

The people condemned the samurai named Kurosawa for embezzling relief rations, but Kurosawa claimed that he had never heard of any relief rations.

The people say that he, a samurai, had his God's Eye confiscated because of his act of embezzling relief grain. The general does not need the assistance of such a person.

Kurosawa, however, said that he was only stripped of his God Eyes because he was dissatisfied with the Eye Hunting Order.

Moreover, he was so poor that he couldn't even afford to eat. If he really had relief food to pocket, he wouldn't be living in this small house.

He also said that his home had just been looted by a group of thieves, and he would find out whether there was any relief food by chasing after the group.

But the people didn't believe Kurosawa at all.

[Omori: "Stop lying, hand over the food now."]

[Yuya: "Waaah, how am I going to survive without relief food..."]

The traveler didn't know who to believe, so he had to investigate himself and eventually caught up with the fleeing treasure hunters.

The traveler was clearly a female lecturer who understood human nature well; she first gave him a good beating before trying to communicate with him.

As expected, the treasure-hunting gang became much more obedient and dutifully confessed everything.

Paimon asked, "How's Kurosawa's house? Do they have plenty of food?"

[Tadao: "Food? No, no, and the house is a mess. But... there's a rather unique box. I bet there's something precious inside."]

Upon opening the 'treasure' stolen from Kurosawa's house, they discovered that it contained IOUs.

There were many of them, all IOUs written to Ms. Aoi, the general store owner.

The traveler took these IOUs to Aoi, the owner of 'Ninety-Nine Items,' to find out what was going on.

[Aoi: "Are you here to help Mr. Kurosawa pay off his debts?"]

Upon hearing that money was involved, Paimon immediately denied it, his brain never working so fast.

Paimon: "No, no, no, we just want to find out where the IOU came from."

Miss Aoi told the traveler the contents of the IOU, explaining that Kurosawa used to use his monthly salary to buy food.

Recently, grain prices have risen, and his salary is not enough, so he bought the same amount of grain on credit as before.

This is what the Inazuma people call "relief food," something that never actually existed.

This is why Kurosawa, as a samurai, was so poor; he shared his 'wealth' with others.

Kurosawa insisted on buying the same amount of food even if it meant writing an IOU because he knew that the people receiving "relief food" were also living frugally.

If the amount of "relief food" were reduced, they would definitely find it hard to accept. In order to take care of them, Kurosawa chose to take on the responsibility himself.

In order to obtain grain on credit, Kurosawa even chose to use his own "treasure" as collateral.

That was a knife his father had given him, a knife he always carried with him, a samurai's knife.

Perhaps that's why Kurosawa puts these IOUs in a unique box and keeps them like some kind of treasure.

Because these IOUs were indeed obtained by exchanging his 'treasures'.

The traveler returned to find Kurosawa and told him the information he had gathered.

Kurosawa: "How could this be... Was I really like this before...?"

He couldn't remember, didn't know why he did it, or why he sacrificed himself.

All he remembered was that when he was a child, he stole his father's knife and showed it off to his friends, which resulted in his father giving him a severe beating.

His father told him that at the time.

[Kurosawa: "...What did I say?...Strange, I can't remember."]

"I only remember my father saying something like this: his life's motto was written on this knife, and before he left this world, he personally handed it to me."

He picked up the knife and saw two characters engraved on the handle: "benevolence and righteousness." This was the creed his father upheld throughout his life.

He inherited his father's will and continued to act in this way, even at the cost of his own 'wishes' (the Eye of God) and his own 'treasure' (the sword).

In reality, Kurosawa looked at the sword in his hand. He seemed to have lived up to the words "benevolence and righteousness" written on the sword, but he could not feel any emotion. There was no sadness, no relief.

Araki Ichito was so angry after reading this story that he couldn't help but feel a little frustrated.

He was already indignant about the previous story about Teshima, but he held back because he was curious about what happened next.

But now that he's read Kurosawa's story, he finally couldn't hold back anymore.

"A man's principles and perseverance should not be betrayed like this!" Arataki Ichito wished he could go to the Tenryo Magistrate's house right now and have a good 'reasoning' with the nine turtles.

Fortunately, Kuki Shinobu was prepared and had Gan Wen Cui and the other two grab one of Araki Ichito's arms and waist, stopping Araki Ichito's actions.

"Boss, finish reading the story first." Hisaki Shinobu silently turned the pages of the book.

Unbeknownst to them, Kujo Sara had just stepped out of the head of the family's room, head bowed, his face grim.

What happened? How could my respected patriarch have become like this?

Kujo Sara lowered her head and pondered for a long time before slowly raising her head and looking at the castle tower.

The dark clouds there piled up, with lightning flashing within them, as if they were a manifestation of the will of the Thunder God.

General, what are your considerations? Are you aware of the Kujo family and the matter of the Commissioner for the Pacification of the State?

She did not rush to pay her respects, because the current Thunder General did not even want to see the Eightfold Divine Child, let alone her. The hatamoto samurai guarding the castle tower would not allow her to see the general.

Kujo Sara took a step forward. She still chose to believe the shogun. "Let me investigate the matter of the head of the family myself."

If the patriarch truly harbors selfish motives behind the General's back, then... even facing you directly, I will draw my sword.

"Hmph, foolish." The stragglers made a sharp comment, it was unclear whether they were referring to Kurosawa and his group or to Thor.

Kurosawa's story is quite popular in Liyue because the people of Liyue also value 'chivalry', and Kurosawa's 'benevolence' resonates with them.

However, the people of Liyue also believe in 'good deeds being rewarded,' and they are very dissatisfied with Kurosawa's fate, already looking forward to the Traveler's battle against Thor.

To paraphrase Xin Yan, it's very fitting: Sing a song of resistance!

As someone who is somewhat of a 'wuxia fan,' Xingqiu greatly admires Kurosawa. If the magistrate doesn't want to pay this debt, then let our Feiyun Trading Company do it; it's just a small amount.

This way, one can not only fulfill one's own appreciation for the other party, but also gain a good reputation for the Feiyun Chamber of Commerce through Inazuma. Why not do it?

However, he obviously didn't need to worry about that; the Kamisato family was already handling these matters.

However, the key to these problems is not money, but 'desire'.

If paying off Kurosawa's debt would solve the problem, the magistrate would have paid it off for him long ago.

There's one last story, in which a certain adorable pink fox will finally make its appearance.

Character Voice Lines - Arataki Ichito: About Kurosawa

"I don't understand any grand principles, I only know that he doesn't deserve this treatment for what he did, and the Ara-taki Faction must stand up for him!"

Chapter 169 Pursuing the Number One in the World

The last story is about a swordsman who seems to have gone mad.

How could a swordsman who had never wavered, who was determined to become the greatest swordsman in the world, suddenly break down? He had never shown the slightest hesitation before.

In the story, Paimon and the traveler use the pretext of becoming apprentices to strike up a conversation with the disciples of "Meijō-Shisui-ryū" and learn some inside information.

Originally aiming to be the best in the world and undefeated, Tsuchimon seemed to become a different person after the Eye of God was taken away. He started muttering strange things and forbade his disciples from practicing swordsmanship.

The disciples believed that their master was possessed by an evil spirit and had invited a shrine maiden from Narukami Shrine to exorcise it.

Paimon asked curiously, "Narukami Taisha, what's that?"

Junya: "Don't you guys know Narukami Taisha? It's the largest shrine on Narukami Island, and the high priestess in charge of it is said to have a close relationship with Lord Raiden."

To be honest, their relationship is more than just close; it's incredibly close.

The traveler and Paimon arrived at the dojo at night when the ceremony was in progress.

Tsuchimon was still acting like a madman, muttering names under his breath, looking extremely pained.

Fortunately, the shrine maiden used some 'physical exorcism' methods and knocked Tsuchimon unconscious. Now he is sleeping soundly and is no longer insane.

The traveler and Paimon, who were waiting outside, spotted a suspicious figure and gave chase.

After being caught up, the man gasped, "...How can you run so fast...Are you really disciples of the Earth Clan? You seem even faster than the Earth Clan..."

Paimon: "Hmph, sneaking around like that, doesn't look like a good person."

【? ? ?: "Doesn't seem like a good person? To be honest, Tu Men should call me senior brother."】

The traveler then realized that this man was actually Tumen's senior brother, Anxi.

Anzai recounted his story with Tsuchimon, explaining that although he had entered the sect earlier than Tsuchimon, his strength was no match for Tsuchimon's.

His senior brother lost the competition and fled the sect as if he were running away.

The phrase "a clear mirror and still water" emphasizes "a mind free of distractions." In the beginning, Anzai always felt that Tumen was inferior to him.

Because Tumen always wanted to become the best in the world, Anzai saw this as his 'obsessive thought'.

But Tumen proved with facts that his desire to become the best in the world was completely unwavering.

Even their master was no match for him. Without a doubt, Tumen was the one who had taken "clear mirror and still water" to its extreme.

But now, this person has gone mad. As the senior brother and also as the 'loser,' he cannot accept that the guy who defeated him has been defeated just like that.

That's why Anzai came to see for himself and wanted to find out what was going on.

Knowing that Anzai meant no harm, the traveler did not make things difficult for him and returned to the dojo. By then, the exorcism ritual had already ended.

[Inashiro Hotaru: "I'm sorry, but with my abilities, I really can't tell that Mr. Tsuchimon is possessed."]

Inashiro Hotaru said she was not up to the task, but the good news was that Yae no Miko was willing to meet with Tsuchimon.

This is the high priestess of Narukami Shrine, and the Thunder General's personal hand warmer!

To borrow a phrase from a traveler, 'Isn't something fluffy cute?'

When the characters in the story arrived at Narukami Shrine to meet Yae no Miko, Lin Qiu even drew an illustration for the wise and beautiful Yae no Miko.

"Not bad at all~, when the young artist arrives, should I give you some reward~?" Yae no Miko was very satisfied.

Araki Kazuto scratched his head. This pink-haired woman looks so familiar...?

Ah! I remember now, it's the woman who tricked me into taking advantage of her before!

He was unaware that the reason the Tenryo Magistrate was so lenient with him was not only because of Hisaki Shinobu and Kujo Sara, but also because of Yae no Miko's help.

As one of the few remaining powerful demons, Yae no Miko still has a fondness for demon brats like Arataki Ichito, and naturally protects him.

Oh right, Ayato and he have a good relationship, and he might have helped with that too.

From this perspective, Araki Ichito can be considered Inatsume's most well-connected person; only Kagebo, a private monk, doesn't know him.

It goes without saying who is at fault, right? It's obvious who is 'committing a crime' and who is 'trying their best'.

Returning to the story, Yae no Miko immediately saw the problem: Tsuchimon was not possessed by evil spirits; he simply couldn't withstand the immense pressure within him and collapsed to this point.

Most people wouldn't lose their desires to this extent, but unfortunately, Tsuchimon is a person with a pure and untainted mind.

His only aspiration was to become the best in the world, and this desire was like a supporting pillar that sustained him.
