The plane tree sneered.
"Uh"
Although its metaphor was somewhat unconventional, Liu Zheng did understand it.
Clearly, it was the fire mage's last move that punctured the sewer hemorrhoids.
"Hurry up."
Before the plane tree could finish its sentence, the ceiling suddenly closed, snapping its roots in two.
The broken tree root fell to Liu Zheng's feet, looking like a dead worm.
"You can't leave."
A voice said softly.
"Who?"
Liu Zheng looked warily in the direction of the sound.
"A ghost."
A red shadow drifted out from the wall.
It has no face and its shape is extremely vague.
It could only be vaguely seen that it was wearing a peaked hat and an overcoat.
"All the routes up are blocked; you'll have to stay here."
Red Ghost said.
Why did you specifically tell me this?
Liu Zheng asked.
"Only when people truly understand their own situation can they make the right choices."
Red Ghost slowly approached.
It could have floated, but instead it felt extremely heavy, as if countless mountains were pressing down on it.
"What choice?"
Instead of backing down, he took the initiative to meet him.
"To live, or to die."
Red Ghost stopped a few steps away from him and then spoke.
Liu Zheng frowned.
He smelled a strong odor of rust and gunpowder.
"you can help me?"
he asked.
"Yes."
Red Ghost nodded.
What do I have to give in return?
"Knowing that you have to give before you receive is a very good quality."
Red Ghost's tone seemed to hold a hint of appreciation.
"This is the truth of the world."
Don't even mention that Liu Zheng was a seasoned veteran who had been through thick and thin in society. Even a naive young person, as long as they can survive in this strange world, will surely understand this point deeply.
Unfortunately, truth is always in the hands of a minority.
"And even if someone wants to spread the truth, they will be stopped by the majority of the minority."
Red Ghost seemed to have a hidden meaning in his words.
"Let's get back to the main point. What do you need to do to get me out of the sewers?"
He interrupted Red Ghost.
"It's very simple, just help us generate electricity."
Red Ghost wasn't angry and said directly.
"what?"
“Our electricity usually comes from hydropower, and now that the water supply is cut off, the electricity is also cut off.”
"Therefore, we need you to generate electricity for us."
Red Ghost explained.
“I have no problem with using a generator, but isn’t it a bit inefficient? I still have to deliver food later.”
"Wait, you just said human power generation, right?"
Liu Zheng suddenly realized the problem.
"Of course, you can only generate a few kilowatt-hours of electricity by stepping on it."
Red Ghost nodded.
"Okay, how much do you want?"
He said helplessly.
"Not necessarily, it depends on your situation. Come with me, the sewer needs to be detoxified."
Red Ghost pointed to the ceiling.
Liu Zheng looked up and saw that white, tumor-like growths were growing rapidly.
In the blink of an eye, they grew to the size of a fist, densely covering the entire ceiling.
Then, all the white tumors opened their eyes and turned their gaze to Liu Zheng.
"Close your eyes."
Red Ghost said.
He closed his eyes as instructed.
The instant he closed his eyes, Liu Zheng saw the red ghost lunge at him.
"Walk forward, stop when I say stop, and then open your eyes."
The voice of the Red Ghost rang out above his head.
Faced with this situation, Liu Zheng had no choice but to follow its guidance.
He walked while counting in his mind.
When he counted to 653, Red Ghost finally spoke.
"Stop."
Liu Zheng stopped and then opened his eyes.
Before him was a security door resembling a bank vault.
"Turn the valve in."
Red Ghost said.
Liu Zheng did as instructed, turned the valve, pushed it open, and entered the room.
"Click."
With a click of the mechanism engaging, the safety door closed automatically.
The inside of the door was immediately plunged into darkness.
"Paul, turn on the emergency lights."
Red Ghost shouted.
"Okay, teacher."
A little boy's voice responded.
As soon as he finished speaking, several green lights came on.
Although the brightness was not high, Liu Zheng was still able to make out the situation here with his strong physique.
The space is about the size of a classroom, with metal walls on all sides.
In the middle of the classroom were a dozen desks and chairs, with a child in school uniform sitting on each chair.
The boy was wearing a gray suit and trousers, a military cap, and leather shoes.
The girls wore white lace dresses and different colored veils in their hair.
Their clothes looked old, but they still maintained a cohesive overall look.
Judging from their appearance, these children should all be human.
But Liu Zheng felt that something was not right.
When he got closer, he finally understood why.
These children are all broken.
Chapter 72 Hands and feet should be used alternately
Their exposed parts were all made up of many pieces stitched together.
Not only are their skin colors different, but their ages are also different.
Some have the skin of infants, while others are already adults.
But what they have in common is that their underlying tone is a deathly pale.
The children stared at Liu Zheng with curiosity, their eyes filled with a clarity and purity that seemed completely at odds with their terrifying appearance.
"Teacher, are these our new classmates?"
A girl asked innocently.
Her hair ornament was larger than everyone else's, and it was golden brown, like a Queen Alexander swallowtail butterfly.
“No, Tonya. This is the electrician I hired.”
Red Ghost said gently.
He must be a power generator.
Liu Zheng rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything.
"Great, now the classroom can be lit up."
"We can read books again."
"Electrician, could you please fix my music box? It's stopped playing."
The children chattered away like little sparrows.
"Even if I were an electrician, I wouldn't repair music boxes."
He wanted to say that.
But looking at the expectant little girl, he just couldn't bring himself to say it.
"I'll give it a try, but I can't guarantee it will be fixed."
Liu Zheng said.
"Yes! Thank you, electrician."
The little girl said politely, then excitedly jumped off the chair and hopped into the inner space.
He then realized that she only had one foot.
“I searched for a long time but couldn’t find the other foot, so they have to take turns using it. Today it’s Galia’s turn.”
