Hell Game: Starting from Metropolis

The reward, of course, was a full cup of "Uncle Pepper" and a large bowl of stewed meat soup.
Anko reached out a hand, as if to close Marza's eyes.
But in the end, he took it back.
"Ugh."
Section Chief An sighed.
"Sorry, did I scare you?"
The man outside the door offered a completely insincere apology.
"Isn't what you're doing rather impolite?"
Anke said with a gloomy face.
Even if the person who was barged in wasn't someone he knew, their behavior was still highly provocative.
"I just wanted to save some time on communication between us, since the restaurant didn't give me much time."
The man outside the door spoke frankly.
"So, if I don't let you in, you're going to force your way in?"
Anke asked.
"No need. As long as the boss is willing to sell me enough 'Uncle Pepper', I'll leave immediately. Of course, if you'd like me to come in and rest for a bit and have something to eat, I'll also offer my thanks."
"That's what the man outside the door said."
How many 'Pepper Uncles' do you need?
Anke asked.
"Let me think about it."
The man outside the door paused for a moment before speaking.
"Ten barrels will be enough."
Ten barrels.
Anke calculated that the wine cellar had enough stock.
Besides "Uncle Pepper," there are other wines in the cellar.
Although the inventory wasn't that much, it was just enough to serve as their family's water source.
The main point is that, given the strength of the other party, who could easily smash through the gate, there's not much they can do if they really want to force a sale.
Thinking of this, Anke gritted his teeth and decided to take a gamble.
Are there any other pale beasts outside?
he asked.
"You mean something like this? Apart from the few I killed, the rest all escaped."
"That's what the man outside said."
They escaped.
Anke was speechless.
How could such a ferocious monster be treated like a rat in the street by this outsider?
However, based on his years of experience as a tavern owner listening to others boast, the man outside didn't seem to be bragging.
"Marianne, take the children and hide upstairs."
Anke whispered to his wife.
Even if the other person doesn't seem like a bad person, it's best not to flaunt your treasures in front of others.
Marian naturally understood her husband's meaning, and she led her two daughters up the stairs in small steps.
The man outside the door waited patiently until they stopped running before speaking.
"Have you made up your mind, boss?"
The other person's voice wasn't harsh; it was even quite gentle, but Anko still felt immense pressure.
"Please come in, stranger. Anco's tavern welcomes all guests from afar."
Anke clenched his fist, moved the wine barrel blocking the door, and lifted the bolt.
He opened the door, and what came into view was a corpse that had been cut into pieces.
Behind the corpse stood an unusually tall man.
He was wearing a strange-looking uniform with a vest over it.
The man was barefoot, and his large feet were almost twice the size of Anke's.
His arms were also incredibly thick; Anko had no doubt that he could easily break himself in two.
But the man's face was not as rugged as his limbs; on the contrary, it was quite handsome, with features so soft they were almost feminine.
"Meow~"
Just as Anko was sizing up the man, a loud meow suddenly came from behind him.
"Salmon, be good, we can go inside soon."
The man pulled out a neatly dressed cat from behind and placed it on his shoulder.
“This is my partner; it doesn’t like open outdoor spaces. May we go in now, boss?”
the man said.
"Oh, of course, of course."
Anke quickly looked away and made way for him.
"Thank you."
The man bowed slightly politely and then walked into the tavern.
Anke was about to close the door when the man stopped him.
"Let me do it."
The man said, then easily closed the door.
He glanced at the head on the door again, then reached out his hand.
"Wait a moment."
Anke quickly called out to him.
"What's wrong, boss?"
The man turned his head and asked.
"This is someone I know; let's save him some face."
Anke mustered his courage and said.
"Oh well."
The man's movement of twisting off the head turned into pushing, and the head, which was tightly stuck, was easily pushed out, leaving a large hole.
The man grabbed another wine barrel, blocked the hole, and nodded in satisfaction.
"Is this alright, boss?"
he asked.
"Okay, okay. Please come and sit here."
Anko led him to sit down at the cleanest table.
"I am Anco, the owner of the tavern. May I ask your name, distinguished guest from afar?"
he asked cautiously.
"Just call me Liu Zheng, and this is my partner, Salmon. We are both employees of the Bloody Restaurant."
The man explained.
"staff?"
Anke glanced at the cat lying on the chair and imagined it was doing something like catching mice.
"Yes."
Liu Zheng nodded.
"Alright, please have a seat, I'll get you two beers to quench your thirst."
Although he didn't understand this behavior of treating cats as companions, Anco didn't mind showing respect for them.
"Thank you."
He nodded, then watched the tavern owner walk toward the bar.
"I really didn't notice."
Liu Zheng looked at his four tentacles and muttered to himself.
He had his suspicions the moment the door opened.
The other party was so frightened by the sight of a pale head, so seeing his even more inhuman appearance would not only drive them crazy on the spot, but it's also impossible for them to remain so calm.
However, just like his inexplicable mastery of the local language, Liu Zheng didn't know whether it was due to the memory chip or an effect he brought with him after passing through the "door".
Because Liu Zheng did not follow the normal procedures.
The memory chip neither blocked his memories nor told him any information.
The chip that Niu Ma gave him didn't work either.
It was as if there was an invisible barrier preventing the memory chip from manipulating his mind.
Although there was no notification, Liu Zheng knew that the system must have intervened.
However, the calico cat's memory chip did work.
Now it only remembers that it was its colleague, that it was sent on a business trip, and some other scattered memories.
But that was enough. After offering him a few dried fish that the fish had made by itself, Liu Zheng gained its trust effortlessly.
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but angrily rub the cat's head.
"Meow~"
The calico cat let out a contented meow.
Liu Zheng smiled, then suddenly looked up and met a pair of longing eyes.
Chapter 247 The real hell is outside.
"Want to come down and touch it?"
Liu Zheng smiled kindly.
Although the second floor was dark, he could still make out the other person's appearance with his senses.
A cute blonde little girl.
"Nina, come back quickly."
Liu Zheng heard a very soft rebuke, and then the little girl was pulled into deeper darkness.
He shrugged; such a level of wariness was reasonable in the face of a strong outsider.
"Salmon don't like being touched by strangers."
The calico cat lying to the side protested.
"There's no other way, it's all about building relationships, it's all for work. And salmon is just so cute."
Liu Zheng took the opportunity to rub the cat's head again.
The face on his back appeared, glared at him angrily, and then immediately disappeared.
