The old man behind him snorted, but his expression seemed rather satisfied.

Having managed to force the young monk Ashiya Dōman to retreat, what could he possibly be dissatisfied with?

The latter, with his tall, slender figure, wearing a wide robe and flowing sleeves, exuded an air of otherworldly elegance. He was undoubtedly Lu Kang's teacher, Kamo no Yasunori.

In contrast to the latter, the former appears much more 'down-to-earth'.

He was also tall and thin, and dressed in white robes and a black hat, but beneath his wide robes and sleeves was a white-haired, youthful-looking face with a perpetually smiling and kind expression—if one ignored the ever-present, cunning smile that resembled that of a fox.

He was upright and walked with a leisurely and elegant gait, but judging from his appearance alone, no one would guess that he was the world-renowned Onmyoji Abe no Seimei. They would only think that he was probably an old man with worldly wisdom.

They have transcended the mundane world, yet they have not left behind the secular world.

He heard Kamo no Yasunori snort coldly, and feigned surprise: "Isn't your senior brother satisfied with such a disciple?"

"Then why not give it to me—I happen to be lacking an heir..."

"Don't even think about it!"

He Maobao immediately moved to Bengbu and glared angrily at him.

Abe no Seimei laughed heartily and said, "After all these years, you still can't resist being teased, senior brother!"

He's like a little old child.

Kamo no Yasunori was really hard to deal with, so he simply turned his head away and ignored the old man.

The two elderly people stepped across the threshold one after the other as they were talking, and finally came to stand in front of Lu Kang.

Lu Kang, who had just turned six, tilted his head slightly.

He actually returned with the two elderly people.

Although he was a little late because he got lost in Heian-gu Shrine, he still managed to catch up with the exorcism ceremony in the palace and met Abe no Seimei, who was in charge, and Kamo no Yasunori, who was assisting him.

After it was over, we naturally returned together.

He just walked a couple of steps faster.

As Lu Kang looked up, Abe no Seimei, walking ahead, leaned down slightly, standing a few steps away at eye level with him. The old man, whose long beard swayed gently, revealing the handsome elegance of his youth, had bright eyes and offered no words of praise:

"Heroes emerge from youth."

"Your Phantom Spirit system is truly ingenious and has the potential to open up new horizons!"

...

After the exorcism in the palace was completed, the era name was changed to Yamato.

In the first year of the Zhenyuan era, he, at a young age, forced Master Daomo to retreat and preserved the Yin-Yang Bureau, earning the praise of Lord Qingming, and was lauded by all at the time.

Both the Emperor and the Regent were pleased.

He was promoted to the fifth rank and was allowed to perform divination before the emperor, and could speak directly in the palace.

...

Because of this incident, you have gained more recognition and rewards.

You will have the opportunity to meet the ruler and regent of the Yamato Kingdom.

Of course, these things don't really mean much to you. You don't believe in any hierarchical system of rulers and subjects, and you certainly won't bow down to them. The biggest gain for you today is actually the opportunity to exchange ideas and receive instruction from Abe no Seimei—the greatest Onmyoji of his time, the master of Onmyodo, the founder of the later Onmyodo master Tsuchimikado, and most likely the biggest driving force behind Onmyodo's independence from Shugendo.

Chapter 115 The Magic of Thought: Intuitive Insights and Awareness, Drawing on the Talents of Heaven and Earth

"How was it like meeting the Emperor and Taisho?"

In the deepest part of the Yin-Yang Bureau, in a room that even Lu Kang had never set foot in before—a forbidden zone that theoretically only the 'Yin-Yang Head' could tread—filled with countless strange instruments and bottles and jars, a hall that gave off the feeling of a shaman communicating with gods in an ancient mythological era, the tall and handsome Abe no Seimei opened one of the jars with a flick of his sleeve, looking down at something while asking a question without looking up.

Following behind him, Lu Kang recalled the two figures he had seen when he and Abe no Seimei stepped into Heian-gu Shrine again.

The polite reply was: "Your Majesty is exceptionally intelligent, and the Grand Ministers are virtuous and dedicated."

"Tell the truth."

Abe no Seimei paused slightly, glancing at Lu Kang out of the corner of his eye. The old man's tone was rather strange.

"Ok."

Lu Kang no longer minced words: "Just a child and an old man guarding the house."

The so-called emperor, who is high and mighty, is really just a thirteen or fourteen-year-old kid, if we disregard his false divinity that was long lost after the mythological era disappeared.

The so-called regency, wielding great power, is in essence nothing more than a 'guardian of the house' who simply tries to protect what he owns from being taken away by others.

In this era, perhaps only Lu Kang could utter such treasonous words.

Upon hearing his words, Abe no Seimei finally put down the jar in his hand, clapped his hands, and laughed: "Child and old man, a profound assessment that sees through the essence, how wonderful!"

"It's no wonder you have made your own achievements and insights in the art of Yin and Yang!"

He turned around to face Lu Kang, his aged but not withered face full of praise.

In fact, before Lu Kang arrived in Heian-kyo with Kamo no Yasunori, Abe no Seimei often received letters from his senior brother, sometimes every half month, sometimes every month. And the one he mentioned most often in each letter was this little boy in front of him, his senior brother's newest student.

Yes.

Although this was their first real meeting since Lu Kang arrived in Heian-kyo, the elderly 'White Fox Prince' and the young 'Peacock Prince' had actually been communicating in spirit for a long time.

If it weren't for this exchange without ever meeting, Abe no Seimei wouldn't have so strongly recommended his existence to Emperor En'yu and Regent Taisho.

However, he heard Abe no Seimei's words.

Lu Kang did not dodge or avoid the topic, but went straight to the point. He looked at the great Onmyoji in front of him, who would become famous in later generations and was one of the few in the history of the entire Yamato Kingdom to leave his name in the history of humankind. After this brief interaction, he had basically figured out the other party's emotions.

Unconventional yet worldly, insightful yet not averse to rules.

Instead of beating around the bush, you can speak directly:

"Is having one's own thoughts really the key to 'Yin-Yang Arts'?"

This was a sense he had long possessed.

Whether it was the principle of sudden enlightenment of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist Zen sect that En no Ozunu initially borrowed, or the Yin-Yang art that the Kamo family later developed by combining the Taoist Five Elements and the Yin-Yang principles of the Yin-Yang school, both were filled with various factors related to 'thought'.

This is based on his own personal experience.

After he decided to use the 'Curse Spirit System' as a reference and ingeniously forged a path for the Illusion Spirit System that was based on it but different from it, after he developed his own thoughts, he could also sense a new world slowly unfolding before him.

"Not bad!"

Seeing that Lu Kang's words contained his own insights, Abe no Seimei was not worried that revealing too much would cause the other party to have difficulty digesting or to force him to grow too fast. Just as Lu Kang could figure out his personality in a short time, this old man could also see that Lu Kang's talent was real and genuine in a very short time.

When it comes to discussing this, he really doesn't hold back at all: "I heard my senior brother Kamo no Yasunori mention that you have read many books from the Tang Dynasty, whether Confucianism, Buddhism, or Taoism. You should understand that the mainstream Shintoism in Yamato Province today, as well as the Yin-Yang arts, are actually derived from the arts of the Tang Dynasty."

"The foundation of the magic of the Great Tang Dynasty lies in the integration of the essence of many thoughts from the thousands of years of history of that vast Celestial Empire, forming a vast hall that is independent of the world and unaffected by the depletion of spiritual energy."

Its name is 'Thought Plate'.

"The disk of thought is preserved through thinking and obtained through contemplation. With each thought and reflection, all living beings in the Celestial Empire with the capacity for enlightenment can gain something."

"Of course, ordinary people who can access the thought disk through their comprehension can basically be considered geniuses. Such geniuses can only use some techniques from the lower levels of the thought disk. As for the higher-level 'great supernatural powers,' they need to be tested and their character needs to be verified in addition to their talent. They also need someone to 'teach' and 'pass on' them."

"Not to mention my Yamato, an overseas land that is not under the jurisdiction of the Celestial Empire, even within the Celestial Empire itself, there are no more than ten people in an era who can receive the teachings and inheritances. Throughout the history of my Yamato Kingdom, from the time Kamo-kun tamed Ozunu to the present day, there have only been a handful of people."

One of the minor characters himself.

The other, which goes without saying, is Abe no Seimei himself.

In the entire Yamato Kingdom, there are only two people who can receive "guidance" from the celestial immortals.

Only the two of them can obtain higher-level access to the 'Thought Disc', the mysterious inscription known as the 'Thought Key Pattern'.

Lu Kang showed no surprise upon hearing these words. He already knew that the Eastern mystical system was completely different from the Western one, and had mentioned it countless times. The Yamato mystical system could not be compared with the true Eastern mystical system at all—it could only be considered a derivative of it.

If he hadn't known beforehand that the true Eastern mystical system focuses more on thought, he wouldn't have set his sights on this from the beginning in order to make up for his own intellectual deficiencies.

As a 'time traveler', it's impossible for him to be completely unaware of this.

Although he knew this, he did not interrupt, but continued to listen to the old man's story.

He knew that what the old man was about to say was probably something he didn't know either.

"Aside from these two individuals, there is only one person in Yamato who has been able to independently connect to the thought process based on outstanding talent."

"Take, for example, the monk Domo, Ashiya Doman, whom you just defeated—he was not self-taught, nor was he taught by anyone. Most of his techniques came from the basics of the thought system—as a non-citizen of the Celestial Empire, he must have succeeded through some extraordinary method of cultivation. It's just a pity that he ultimately failed to gain recognition and be granted a lineage."

"In the end, the so-called temple of thought is ultimately the mysterious foundation for the continuation of the Celestial Empire. According to the Daoist master who gave me the inheritance, it was established by many powerful beings from different eras, just to ensure the continuation of the Celestial Empire's divine lineage."

"Outside of China, how difficult would it be for ordinary people to make contact with them, exceeding hundreds of millions?"

"Therefore, the fundamental purpose of Shugendo's founder, En no Ozunu, who created Shugendo hundreds of years ago, was not for anything else but to give my Yamato Province a temple of supernatural powers that existed outside the world, similar to the 'Thought Plate'—I dare not hope to be exactly the same, but only to reach one-tenth of its scale, which would be enough."

"In the manuscripts I read that Kamo-kun's role as Ozunu kept within the Kamo family, it was clearly mentioned that his initial establishment of the Spell Spirit system was not for everyone to communicate with the gods or obtain the divided spirits of the gods, but rather to unify all the gods in the form of divided spirits through the binding of the Spell Spirits, weaving them into a massive 'spell' that covers all the gods—allowing everyone to connect to, store, and obtain them."

Unfortunately, he failed.

If it had truly succeeded, the Yamato Kingdom at this moment would not be in such a state where gods, humans, and demons are everywhere.

If it really succeeds.

In that battle, Ozuno will become the first person in the history of Yamato.

It's a pity that there is no if in the world.

"Although Yi Xiaojiao has gained the recognition of the Celestial Immortals and been granted the 'Thought Key Pattern'—which is the mark I mentioned earlier that links to the higher-level thought disk—no matter how high one's talent is, it is impossible to surpass the entire era, let alone achieve complete coverage of all the gods on one's own."

"He chose to share his system of spirit summons."

"He calculated all the possibilities, but he could not calculate the evil and greed in people's hearts."

"Not everyone is willing to weave a portion of the divine spirit into the group's spells and make it available for everyone to share."

Not everyone is so selfless.

"Compared to the group, they also hope to be unique and stand out from the crowd."

"Therefore, Ozuno ultimately died with regret in his later years. Although he had already achieved immortality, he still chose to close his eyes and leave. In order to make up for the mistakes made by his ancestors, the Kamo family also created the Onmyōdō (the Way of Yin and Yang) to restore the Yin-Yang disorder caused by their ancestors."

After hearing these descriptions, even Lu Kang couldn't help but feel shocked and regretful for the founder of Shugendo—but he was also relieved.

Fortunately, it ultimately failed.

Ultimately, Lu Kang is still a time traveler at heart; his origin is the Celestial Empire—his physical body in reality is also partly derived from the bloodline of the Celestial Empire.

From a later perspective, the Celestial Empire and Japan were sworn enemies.

He naturally did not want Yamato to rise to power.

But regardless of whether Ozunokabe succeeded or failed, what he left behind for this long, narrow country surrounded by the sea was real, and the impact was enormous.

Many deities reappeared after the Age of Gods vanished.

It is filled with the bloodlines of countless gods and humans, as well as demons.

It also brought about a sufficiently chaotic era.

...

Shugendo, Onmyōdō (the art of Yin and Yang)

After listening to Abe no Seimei's entire description, you once again gained your own insights.

You don't expect to be able to connect with Abe no Seimei or Kamo no Ozunoka, in a country isolated overseas, through the shared thoughts of the other side of the sea.

Although you pride yourself on your talent being no less than theirs, and you could certainly do it if you wanted to, simply connecting to the thought disk won't be of much help to you—you don't lack basic techniques, nor do you lack ways to learn those 'great supernatural powers,' that is, to master the magic of the divine era and mobilize the power flowing out from the power source.

All you need is this method and approach of pooling everyone's strength.

[It suddenly occurred to you that since they were able to gather the power of many to construct a mysterious grand hall, could you also do the same—collect the 'thoughts' of people around the world to refine your own thoughts?]

Your phantom spirit can now 'create spirits from spirits'.

[That which gathers the thoughts of heaven and earth, and transforms them into its own thoughts]

It's not necessarily impossible.

To draw upon the talents and energy of heaven and earth and use them for one's own benefit.
