"Wow, such a quick reply?" Chen Moxin couldn't help but complain.

If the news had come a few seconds later, he wouldn't have seen it for four months.

Just then, Chen Moxin noticed that the square-faced man gave him a mysterious smile and was glancing at the communicator on his shoulder.

The red dot on the communicator remains lit, indicating that it is always connected.

The commotion here could be heard by the person on the other end of the communicator.

Chen Moxin realized what was happening. He put his phone into the storage bag, then leaned close to the communicator, speaking softly and gently.

"It's late winter now, see you in early summer."

Chapter 53 Chen Moxin's Teammates

After the bus to the hunter training camp departed, everyone was given a cloth strip and required to be blindfolded for the entire journey.

Apart from Chen Moxin, everyone else on the vehicle was a "specially trained" individual who had received various military training from a young age.

During the journey, these trainees habitually try to memorize the route by feeling and then determine their location.

But they soon found it useless, because once the car left the city and went to the suburbs, it drove at a constant speed most of the time and was driven very steadily, making it impossible to judge the current speed, and therefore impossible to remember the route.

The square-faced man stood at the front of the car, explaining things to everyone during the journey.

"First of all, congratulations on qualifying to participate in the witch hunter selection and becoming the 53rd trainees of the Hunter Training Camp. This means that you are good enough in the eyes of the organization."

"But this is just the beginning. From participating in the selection to finally becoming a witch hunter, you will undergo very rigorous training and testing."

"Based on past experience, I can tell you with certainty that the vast majority of you will be eliminated, and there is even a possibility that all of you will be eliminated."

Whether you can stand until the end and receive a promotion full of responsibility and honor depends on yourselves.

"Now, I'm going to distribute something to everyone."

A rustling sound kept coming from in front of the car, getting closer and closer.

Chen Moxin felt someone come to his side and put a small, rectangular hard object into his hand.

He is now blindfolded and cannot see, so he can only feel his way with his hands.

It has a regular shape, a smooth surface, and a pin at the back, so it should be something like a nameplate.

"What you just received are identification tags with your respective training numbers on them."

"This special training will be conducted in small teams, and each person will be assigned two teammates."

"A total of 75 trainees will participate in this special training and will be divided into 25 teams."

"Over the next four months, you will eat and live together. You will participate in all aspects of life, training, and assessments together. The points you earn during this process will be ranked by team."

Chen Moxin frowned.

The special training was actually conducted in teams.

This means that it's not enough for one person to perform well; all teammates must be able to keep up.

Chen Mo thought to himself: I don't need any god-like players to carry me, just match me with two normal people, please don't give me any overpowered or terrible teammates.

The square-faced man then introduced some rules that needed to be known in advance, which everyone carefully memorized.

Three hours later, as the bus slowly came to a stop, we arrived at our destination.

"Everyone, remove your blindfolds."

Chen Moxin took off the blindfold.

Because he had been blindfolded for a long time, the outside light seemed particularly glaring. Only after his eyes adjusted did he turn his head to look out the window.

This is a deep mountain, where the lingering mist hangs among the ancient trees and forests. Not far away, a gray-white concrete wall blends almost into the mountainside. A high-voltage power grid is erected above the wall, and there is a lookout post every fifty meters, creating a chilling atmosphere.

"This is the Hunter Training Camp. After entering, follow the instructions to report, then go to your dormitory to meet your teammates. At 12 noon sharp, you will participate in the first training session."

"Now, everyone get off the bus. Good luck."

Chen Moxin followed the others into the special training camp, which was as big as several football fields. The low-rise barracks on the west side were painted with a special camouflage pattern, making them look like part of a forest from a distance.

To the east is a wide training ground, with the ground covered with fine gravel and surrounded by wire mesh. Training facilities such as rock walls, obstacle courses, combat arenas, and shooting ranges are scattered around.

In the northern part of the camp stands a silver-gray spire-like structure, its surface covered with a honeycomb pattern, with eight thick supporting pillars extending radially into the ground, and its sword-like top piercing the sky.

This is the Empire's most advanced military-grade anti-reconnaissance jammer, capable of blocking reconnaissance from drones and even satellites.

Chen Moxin followed the directions to the reporting area. The staff took his nameplate, glanced at it, and confirmed his identity through biometric identification such as fingerprints and iris scans. They then made a record of it in the document.

"Trainee No. 9, you have been assigned to the 7th Special Training Squad. Your dormitory is 106. Your teammates No. 8 and No. 5 have already arrived. Go and meet them."

Chen Moxin carried the training clothes and bedding that had been distributed to her to the west barracks and arrived at her dormitory, number 106.

This is a standard triple room, about 20 square meters, with three sets of beds with a desk underneath. The floor is spotless.

The two teammates were already there, each making their own beds.

One of them was an extremely burly man, nearly two meters tall, with bronze skin and muscles that bulged like small mountains, but without very obvious lines. He had the kind of muscular physique that looked a little fat but was actually extremely powerful.

The burly man's personality didn't quite match his rugged appearance; he seemed somewhat introverted. When he saw Chen Moxin, he grinned sheepishly and nodded shyly as a greeting.

The other person was about the same height as Chen Moxin and had a similarly distinctive appearance.

He had flowing, dazzling blond hair, emerald green eyes, and deep, sculpted features with a sharply defined face.

Four words: incredibly handsome.

He looks just like a young Leonardo DiCaprio.

"Hey bro, looks like everyone's here." This guy was also very different from his appearance; he had a foreign face but spoke fluent Imperial English.

Chen Moxin was taken aback after hearing this: "Huh? There are foreigners in this special training?"

"Little Li" was all smiles, but upon hearing Chen Moxin's words, his face immediately changed, and his entire body turned visibly red: "Hey, don't talk nonsense! I'm not a foreigner!"

Chen Moxin glanced at his bed, pointed to the sign and said, "Isn't your name written here? Number 8, Alexander."

Alexander quickly covered the sign with his hand: "They've written it wrong! That's not my name!"

"Written wrong?" Chen Moxin felt puzzled.

There were only 75 trainees participating in the special training. And for such an important training, the trainees' information must have been reviewed and approved by everyone. How could such a basic mistake as misspelling a name have occurred?

“Man, if you were trying to liven things up, I admit you succeeded.”

“Man my ass! I already told you I’m not a foreigner, and Alexander isn’t my name.”

Seeing that Alexander's attitude was very firm and he didn't seem to be joking, Chen Moxin could only ask him, "So what's your name?"

Alexander's emerald green eyes became bright and piercing, and he was filled with righteousness, as if a firm faith was burning within him.

"My name is Ai Zhongguo!"

Chapter 54 Everyone is a Talent

In the narration following "Ai Zhongguo", Chen Moxin learned about his past.

His background story begins with his father.

His father's name is "Ai Hongjian", and he is currently a senior member of the Upper Court Council of the Rose Empire and the Deputy Minister of the Empire's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Twenty years ago, during a diplomatic visit to the Azure Federation, Ai Hongjian found a newborn baby in an alley.

There was a note next to the baby, which, judging from its contents, was left by the biological parents. It said that the family had gone bankrupt and could no longer afford to raise the child, and they hoped that a kind person would adopt him.

Ai Hongjian was heartbroken because his only son had recently passed away.

He suddenly found this tiny baby and felt it was God's arrangement, so he immediately felt compassion.

After negotiations, Ai Hongjian did not send the baby to the Federal Welfare Institute, but instead took him back to the Rose Empire and raised him as his own child.

This baby is Alexander.

If there is a God in this world, then Alexander was clearly favored by God.

Abandoned by his biological parents, he traveled across the ocean to a foreign land and transformed himself into the son of the later Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.

When Alexander was young, Ai Hongjian was afraid of affecting the child's mental health, so he did not tell him his true parentage. He always said that he was his own son and that his blond hair and blue eyes were just a genetic mutation.

Alexander also received a traditional imperial education under Ai Hongjian's arrangement and became a good student who loved his country. Whenever he saw the Rose Banner being raised, he would stop and salute, moved to tears.

Later, when Alexander went to high school, Ai Hongjian felt that his son had grown up and matured, and that it was not good to keep his background a secret, so he told him the truth.

Alexander was immediately overwhelmed.

What broke his defenses wasn't that he wasn't his biological son.

My father raised me from childhood, and we've been together for over a decade. That bond of kinship is unbreakable; whether we're biologically related or not is no longer important.

What Alexander could not accept was...

I'm actually a stinky foreigner!

Alexander possessed many of the qualities common to the youth of the contemporary empire: passion and patriotism.

Whenever he reads the history of the Rose Empire, filled with blood and tears, in history books, or those years when it struggled alone under the oppression of foreign powers, he always feels a surge of excitement and wishes he could kill all those damned foreigners.

But when his true identity was revealed, things got complicated. He was also a foreigner, and a purebred one at that...

That night, Alexander hugged the flagpole in the courtyard and cried all night long; Ai Hongjian couldn't pull him away.

Later, Alexander did a series of things in an attempt to erase the fact that he was a "foreigner".

These include, but are not limited to, sunbathing, dyeing hair black, and wearing black contact lenses for extended periods.

But it was no use.

If your skin turns yellow from sun exposure, it will automatically return to its original white color after a while.

This tuft of hair has been dyed black, but the new hair that grows out is still blonde.

Needless to say, colored contact lenses are a different story. I wear them all day long and I don't even know how many times I've gotten conjunctivitis.

Even a person's outward appearance and name cannot be changed, such as Alexander.

When Ai Hongjian helped his son obtain an identity, he named him "Alexander".

The original intention may have been good; they wanted their son to remember where he was born, and giving him a foreign name was a way of commemorating him.

However, there was one problem that Ai Hongjian hadn't considered at the time.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of the Rose Empire has a rather inhumane rule: unless the name violates public order and good morals or has obvious ambiguity, it generally does not support citizens changing their names.

This resulted in Alexander's name being "Alexander" on all his documents, and he couldn't change it at all.

As for the name "Ai Zhongguo," he chose it himself in a fit of anger.

Anyway, he only recognizes this name.

He'll get angry at anyone who calls him Alexander.

On the day he came of age, Alexander... oh no, Comrade Ai Zhongguo responded to the country's policy and passed the selection process with excellent grades, becoming an agent in the Twin Cities Witch Administration Bureau.

Two years later, at the age of 20, he was recommended by the court for his outstanding work experience over the past two years and his loyalty to his country, and became a member of the 53rd Hunter Training Camp.

...

Looking at Alexander, who was speaking eloquently, Chen Moxin was at a loss for words.

For example, right now, this blond-haired, blue-eyed "foreigner" is repeatedly emphasizing that the Rose Empire is his homeland, while simultaneously using his national culture to rant that foreigners are all idiots.

This is quite abstract.

Alexander jumped off the bed and nudged Chen Moxin in the waist with his elbow: "Remember this, my name is Ai Zhongguo, don't call me by the wrong name in the future."

After all, they were teammates who would share a common destiny from now on, so Chen Moxin didn't argue with him and replied perfunctorily, "Okay, Comrade Zhongguo."

Alexander was overjoyed to hear this, and took the bedding that Chen Moxin had brought to help him make the bed.

Chen Moxin didn't stand on ceremony with Alexander, and instead looked at the honest and burly man on the other side, asking him about his affairs.

This one is more heavyweight.

The burly man's name was Lei Lie, trainee number 5, and he was also 20 years old this year. His father was a serving lieutenant general in the Rose Empire's National Defense Force.

Lei Lie is a typical son of a military family. He joined the army after graduating from high school and served in a field company in the war zone of Twin Cities, where he was trained as a reconnaissance soldier.

At the end of last year, Lei Lie's company participated in a large-scale military exercise that lasted for two months.
