The Colonel and Neos somehow got hold of a bunch of weapons.
Although these weapons looked unreliable, their use was simple and clear. At least even the residents of the Bottom Nest who had only undergone preliminary training could figure out how to use these weapons. After all the residents of the Bottom Nest received their weapons, Leon made a simple mobilization for this war.
"Now that the Upper Nest has been engulfed in chaos, we are the only flickering sparks!"
He glanced at every resident of the Bottom Nest: "I won't preach any great principles for humanity, but if you want to change your destiny, then start here!"
For the inhabitants of the Underhive who had never felt the Emperor's blessing, these words were too far away. Neos was the first to raise his hand and shouted: "For humanity!"
This was a good guidance. After eating and drinking enough at Leon's place, the residents of the Plant Nest showed a proud look. For the first time, they felt proud of their own race: "For humanity!"
The program to lock the elevator was just a decoration in front of Leon. He expelled the electronic demon lurking in it with a snap of his fingers and restarted the bridge between the lower nest and the bottom nest.
The residents of the Bottom Nest boarded the elevator with nervousness and anticipation. Before them, an Astartes had already boarded the Thunderhawk gunship and headed for the landing point of the elevator.
The circling Thunderhawk gunships initially swept the landing site of the demons, and the Astartes later landed here to complete a more detailed cleanup. But no matter how they cleaned, the air here was filled with a sweet stench of decay.
The energy of the subspace has already caused significant erosion of the real universe.
Fighting here for a long time will inevitably cause irreversible effects on mortals.
Ayesh watched all this with satisfaction.
On the upper levels, Governor Egrim had returned to his pleasures, leaving the overall situation to him. On the lower levels, where the ritual had already begun, the warp ritual itself was a barrier separating the mundane from the world.
Of course he discovered what the sage of the Adeptus Mechanicus was doing, but he didn't think these armed Deepbringers could last long under the erosion of the warp energy.
You pulled out a bunch of weapons from somewhere, and then instigated a bunch of low-class people from the bottom nest to come and die. Do you think you can beat him?
Although the idea of offering followers of Nurgle, the Lord of Change's mortal enemy, to please the God of Trickery had failed, he would still be highly rewarded if he could offer half of the hive.
Cannon fodder from the bottom nest? Just extra sacrifices!
He spread his hands, as if welcoming his victory: "Let's make this ceremony even more grand!"
Behind him, Makkachen, hiding his face, chuckled softly: "You can't stop them."
"?"
Ayesh turned around, not understanding what he meant, "Why?"
Makachen, who had experienced that terrifying power firsthand, didn't explain. He didn't intend to reveal everything to the mortal who wanted to become a demon prince.
Why not let this mortal who wants to control everything witness it with his own eyes and become a part of the chessboard as well?
He could not see that person in the strange changes of the future. However, through the movements of those around him, as a great demon, he could infer the future.
"Facing a being that can disrupt your previous rituals, it wouldn't hurt to be a little more prepared, right?"
He just said that.
The mirror before him began to ripple like water after a stone was dropped into it, and finally, under the psychic power of the Great Demon, it revealed the projections of two Space Marines. "You will need new weapons."
One of the figures was familiar to Ayesh. It was the Night Lord, who had been presented to Inquisitor Pavonis two days earlier as additional evidence, despite not having been part of his plan.
"Traitor Space Marines?"
Ayesh frowned, not knowing what Makachen was up to.
"Normally, you should call them warriors who have dedicated themselves to the highest heaven, but they... hmph, never mind, calling them traitors is fine."
"What do you mean?"
Ayesh felt that something was amiss, but Makachen brushed the subject off lightly.
"Allowing those low-level demons to incite the common people will not please the great Lord of Change. You must make this ceremony even more grand. Use the souls of those mortals to summon my true form to the mortal world. I will naturally kill those Space Marines who get in the way and make them sacrifices for your ascension to the Demon Prince. At the same time, this will also bring this planet back into the embrace of the Lord of Change."
"But before that, if you don't want the ritual of summoning me to be disrupted again by those lackeys of the false emperor, you must bring these traitorous Astartes under your command."
Ayesh understood what he meant. "You mean to use them as our weapons, to buy time for your summoning ritual?"
Makkachen nodded.
"That didn't fit in with our original plan."
"To anticipate such unexpected uncertainties is also part of the plan. Isn't that the essence of the Way of Change, my dear Ayesh?"
That was true. But looking at Makachen, who hadn't shown his face since the failed summoning ritual at the Underhive, Ayesh felt something was amiss. Adding an unexpected element to the plan made him feel vaguely uneasy.
There was no shortage of intrigue and deception within Tzeentch's camp, and Ayesh had never fully trusted the great demon. But after careful consideration, he felt that this was the only way forward.
"Then how can I reach a cooperation with this group of Astartes?"
"Of course I will assist you."
-
Looking at the bottom nest residents advancing triumphantly, Malik and Efron looked at each other in bewilderment for a moment.
"Did we do something wrong?"
Malik asked.
"should not."
Efron denied it, but his tone was equally hesitant. "Direct the Imperial Fists to disrupt the sacrificial ritual, uncover the Inquisitor's purpose, and then allow them to engage in a low-to-medium intensity conflict with the Tzeentch believers..."
"You don't think this suppression is of low to medium intensity, do you? The raid commander's orders to us are to create 'appropriate' chaos and conflict, but if one side's strength exceeds by a large margin, the chaos will be quickly stopped."
The plan to guide the Imperial Fists to discover the additional key points of the formation was previously formulated by Efron. Malik's words were a bit sharp, and Efron was naturally unhappy.
"How could I have known this would happen!"
He growled, "Tell me how those Imperial Fists managed to escape unscathed after engaging Nurgle cultists and Tzeentch daemons? And where did they find half a million weapons for the Underhive?"
Malik certainly had no answer, but sarcasm was ingrained in him: "At least I won't let a carefully woven net strangle me."
Feeling that his honor was tarnished, the fallen angel wanted to raise the hilt of his sword to strike the opponent hard, but he finally suppressed the impulse and sighed deeply.
"Let's think about what to do next."
He said tiredly.
It's not surprising that the other party's current strength is soaring. But the question before that is, how could they remain unscathed in front of a great demon and even drive that demon back?
They had witnessed with their own eyes how the ritual was completed with the previous preparations for the change from seven to nine, and naturally knew that this formation was intended to summon a being of the level of the Ever-Changing Demon Lord.
Honestly, neither of them could guarantee they would escape unscathed from the Great Demon. To make it all happen, they deliberately manipulated the timing so that the Imperial Fists could confront the Great Demon before it fully entered the real universe, allowing them to exile it by disrupting the ritual.
The plan had been flawlessly executed, but something went awry. They had originally expected the Great Demon to inflict around a hundred casualties on the Imperial Fists. Instead, they hadn't expected a full force of 300 men to lead a charge of 500,000 armed civilians.
There was no point in arguing about who was to blame; what mattered was how to get the plan back on track. Since manipulation had failed, the only plan they could think of was decapitation.
Destroying the enemy's command level can cause them to fall into deep chaos. This tactic is exactly what these elite warriors are best at.
But the other party is also a ruthless person who can drive the big demon back. It would be too risky for two people to go and behead him. They must take advantage of the situation.
Chapter 144: The embarrassed judge lady.
But whose power could he borrow? The demons?
They don't mind doing this, but demons are often not people with whom they can communicate.
"Perhaps we can only contact the commander of the raid. I heard that he has already revised his plans."
Malik said.
"His change of plan has nothing to do with our desire to create chaos. Contacting him directly would be an admission of failure!"
Efron, proud of being a Caliban knight, could not accept this approach: "Are you just going to give up like this?"
Malik just shrugged nonchalantly: "Whatever, I don't win much anyway."
Efron stared at Malik's small eyes, and they once again felt the ideological differences between the different legions.
But just then, some faint noises picked up by the helmets caught their attention.
The sound was like a whisper, or the hiss of wind passing through a narrow gap. They looked up sharply, and Malik was the first to sneak into the shadows. A moment later, he brought back bad information.
"A Tzeentchian apostle is approaching us with a group of horrors."
"How did they find us?"
"I don't know, but they definitely can't catch us."
The two were about to evacuate the safe house directly, but a voice suddenly appeared in their heads and stopped them.
"Stop your actions."
"This is a chance to connect," said Koda, the latest wizard to join the warband.
"Cooperating with Tzeentch demons?"
Malik retorted sarcastically, "Koda, if you want to be a dog for that blue bird-headed man, just go back. Don't use us as your sacrifice!"
"This is an order from the raid commander."
After hearing what Koda said, the two of them stopped what they were doing.
They feigned ignorance of the Tzeentchian demons' approach, then, upon making contact, displayed their immense strength, slashing down several of them in a matter of seconds. The Tzeentchian apostle retreated in terror, weaving defensive spells while loudly emphasizing, "Don't fight, my lords! Don't fight! I'm here to negotiate!"
Efron's sword stopped at the apostle's neck: "Conditions? Just you?"
The apostle of Tzeentch stammered and didn't dare to speak. He just cast a projection magic so that the butler could meet them in person.
Ayesh appeared polite: "Respected Lord Astarte, sending them to contact me is part of my sincerity."
"I know you. You are the steward of the planetary governor. But these demons..."
Malik acted as if he had just realized something and said, "I think the fact that we are living in peace is the most sincere way to get along with each other."
"A peaceful coexistence doesn't guarantee a win-win situation. Your performance has already given me the potential for a win-win situation. I just don't know why you all came to this planet?"
Efron and Malik exchanged a glance. Malik stepped forward, deliberately displaying his human skin, a creepy smile on his pale face: "For a hunt, of course."
Disgust flashed across the butler's face, but he concealed it well: "I wonder how the hunting went, sir?"
"It's not good. First there were a bunch of boring opponents like stone, and then there were demons that disrupted my hunting grounds. I've already planned to leave this planet. There's no point in staying here any longer."
"I'm sorry I couldn't satisfy your interest. But I think this is the basis of our cooperation."
Ayesh clapped his hands and displayed Leon's projection in his psychic energy.
"I wonder what you two know about this person? He is a Mechanicus sage who arrived with the Imperial Fists and is the key to this unrest."
Malik remained noncommittal: "Then?"
"I want him dead."
Ayesh's tone grew grim. "He destroyed the ritual we offered to the Lord of Change. I must make them pay for it. My Lords, if you can assist me in my plan, I will prepare a suitable reward for your departure."
"We could just leave. You don't think you can stop us from seizing a ship to escape, do you?"
"Believe me, it's definitely not as good as what I offer."
"I'm not the type to be easily persuaded..."
Ayesh said nothing, merely projecting a Cobra-class destroyer anchored in the harbor. This small, 1.5-kilometer-long destroyer was the Empire's most versatile vessel below the Moon-class cruiser, but not just anyone could acquire one.
Malik's expression suddenly became eager: "I have always been willing to help others."
"It's docked in the spaceport. Believe me, as long as you cooperate with me, there will be nothing stopping you from taking this destroyer away."
Trading a destroyer for two Astartes was a generous move for anyone. Malik and Efron naturally reached a cooperation with Ayesh. Even after Ayesh left, they couldn't believe how smoothly it had gone.
"We were about to take action anyway, and we ended up getting a destroyer along the way?"
Efron was a little bit incredulous.
"Perhaps he didn't expect me to get this destroyer. But it doesn't matter. At least there are no obstacles to our next move."
"Do you think this is also part of the raid commander's plan?"
"Maybe. He is an Alpha after all."
-
Even though the environment was dangerous, the bottom nest residents still built a battle line in the lower nest with great courage.
Although demons have invaded the hive, the main force here is not demons.
Tzeentch's demons are less inclined to plunge a hive into destruction and war than to use the masses as pawns. Under their manipulation, the more significant threat lies in those mortals who, under their bewitchment or coercion, submit to the demons.
The factory managers who had hoarded weapons in order to enrich themselves were ruthlessly killed by the demons. They pushed these weapons to the civilians with a sly grin, sowing confusion and suspicion among the people, and then allowed these civilians to kill their compatriots with the weapons they had made in panic.
After Leon's army advanced into the lower nest, they manipulated these civilians to gather together, and used lies possessed by humans to lure them into joining forces to attack Leon.
