The pilot tried his best to steer the plane, avoiding several lasers that grazed the wings.
But the attack from the unknown enemy did not stop there. In the unavoidable moment after the maneuver was completed, another round of lasers was fired, hitting the landing craft's engine.
Amidst the humming sound of the force field shield overload, the boat began to tilt violently.
"Forced landing procedure initiated!"
The driver yelled.
The mechanical priests on the ship have collected some parameters of the enemy's weapons during these attacks. The results show that these lasers are far beyond the Empire's current efficiency in terms of wavelength and energy attenuation.
Li Ang is very familiar with these indexes.
"What on earth are we being attacked by?"
Amidel asked Leon during the bumpy ride.
"You'll know when you get to the ground."
The boat scraped past the treetops and crashed into the forest, startling countless birds. In his last sight, Leon caught a glimpse of several slender, elegant, pale figures flashing across the distant mountain ridge.
No wonder this world is so incredibly perfect.
It all started when he met Larry on the Battle Moon. He's been having a bad time with these idiots lately.
-
The plasma rifle in Renault's hand began to sound the alarm.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, leaned his back against a broken metal fence, pressed the overheated barrel and continued to shoot.
Miraculously, the rifle didn't explode, but the plasma beam he fired was no match for the slender, agile figures.
He was heartbroken by the sight of his companions falling around him. The Eldar warriors even nailed their corpses to trees with spears as if to show off. The corpses hanging on the spears swayed before their eyes like rags.
The fear dampened their fighting spirit, and Renault could only loudly encourage them:
"Keep fighting! Never give up hope!"
He led the survivors in a final, desperate struggle. As he was considering his response, Tychus elbowed him:
"Jimmy! Look up at the sky!"
"Damn it, I don't have time now—"
Renault's cursing stopped abruptly.
Above the torn clouds, a flying vehicle emitting black smoke was spinning and falling.
Renault could tell from its distinct outline and the plasma engine of the same model as theirs that it was a human creation.
This was the first time that these colonists had seen their compatriots' aircraft in hundreds of years of struggling on this planet, but they could only watch it fall to the ground.
Renault's throat tightened, and a sense of absurd despair gripped his heart.
It was only a matter of time before he would be annihilated by the Eldar if he stayed here. He could only pin his hopes on the landing craft and hope for a miracle to happen.
"Move toward the crash site!"
He gave orders to everyone.
The Eldar were faster than them.
Those pointed ears suddenly gave up the siege and pounced in the direction of the fall with incredible agility.
Renault saw at least three teams of Eldar warriors leaping out of the woods. They were like a pack of hunting wolves, and in a blink of an eye they surrounded the crash site.
Tychus loaded the last of the slug into his empty shotgun. "Looks like we're not the only ones suffering today."
Renault didn't like his sense of humor: "Shut up!"
He and his men hid in the bushes, his eyes fixed on the crash site in the distance that was surrounded by the Eldar. His brain was working rapidly, but he could not think of any way to break through the encirclement of those pointy-eared bastards.
These defeated soldiers couldn't even protect themselves, let alone save others.
At this moment, the crashed landing craft suddenly let out a twisted metallic groan.
The hatch was kicked open from the inside by a huge force, hitting the ground and raising a cloud of dust.
Renault struggled to discern figures amidst the flying dust. He could vaguely see that they were humanoid like him, but they looked more...
One, two, five... a whole company of giants in power armor stepped out of the thick smoke.
Renault's pupils suddenly contracted.
Although the weapons held by those people were far from the common chainswords, their iconic power armor still allowed Raynor to recognize the identity of these angels of death.
"Astartes?!"
The Eldar warriors had apparently recognized these uninvited guests, and with shrill screams, they launched a siege on the Astartes from all sides, brandishing their chainswords.
But the hunters reacted much faster than Bean Sprout.
Armidel took the lead against one of the Bean Sprouts. The insight granted by the katana and the strength granted by the tendon cables allowed him to strike back first, easily overwhelming these Eldar, who were made entirely of muscle.
The Assault Scorpion warriors he was fighting seemed incredulous at their perceived lack of reaction speed and strength. He pressed his chain sword with all his might, ready to make a last-ditch effort.
Armidale simply swung his sword, and a flash of air blade split him into two parts, with his waist as the dividing line.
The remaining warriors dealt with the Eldar with equal ease. Sergeant Arlo was using his one-handed sword to toy with them at a speed even faster than the Eldar themselves, and Qingcang's shield axe, after blocking, directly infused power into the attacking Eldar, shattering them into pieces, sword and body.
In less than thirty seconds, the first wave of attackers was reduced to a pile of limbs.
The surviving Eldar stopped attacking. They made angry and sad noises, but their bodies retreated quickly and honestly, retreating into the forest like a tide.
Amidel wanted to continue chasing, but Leon stopped him.
"Don't rush to chase, this is the home ground of the Eldar."
A planet that's too perfect?
Perhaps it is a virgin world with the soul of the world.
Armidale stopped as instructed and did not pursue. Instead, the Eldar persisted. While retreating, they didn't personally attack, but instead urged the monsters to launch a new round of attacks.
It is not surprising that there are some local specialties in the virgin world, but these local specialties are not very local, so Amidel was surprised when he saw them.
Those reddish scales, those fan-shaped earlobes...
"A big strange bird?"
These normally gentle and cautious creatures were now unusually ferocious, lunging at the hunters with bared fangs and claws. But with neither their blazing sacs nor the hardness of their scales, they were no match for the Astartes. With a few deft movements, the massive birds fell in droves.
It took some time to deal with the giant bird, and the elves took advantage of this time to move away from here and could no longer find any trace of them.
The Astartes began to clean up the battlefield. Although they didn't know why there were creatures from the Blue Planet here, it didn't stop them from stripping the materials almost instinctively.
Leon looked at Mirabelles.
"How interesting! I didn't expect there's a world with a world soul right next to you? You really don't know anything about it?"
"If this world soul hadn't entered the warp, I really wouldn't have had the chance to know."
"There are obviously bird dragon species on it?"
"Are you surprised? That's no longer my bird dragon species. During the War in Heaven, species from Azure Star spread throughout the universe along with the Old Saints' expeditions. Aside from the Ancient Dragons, which require the support of the World Soul, all other creatures have the potential to survive outside of Azure Star."
"So now there are no ancient dragons on Blue Star itself?"
Mirabelles disappeared without a word.
Li Ang smacked his lips and turned to look at a bush.
Renault, hiding in the bushes, was sure that the other party had discovered them long ago.
"Come out,"
Leon shouted towards the woodland: "Unless you prefer the company of the Eldar."
What happened in the past few minutes seemed like a dream to Renault. Facing his savior, he and his companions could only walk out of their hiding place in a daze.
Leon could see that they were covered in blood.
Very good, it seems that they are not humans living together with the elves.
"Are you the colonists who once came to this planet?"
Leon asked, his tone affirmative. His eyes lingered on the non-Imperial weapons in Renault's hands, curious about their origins.
He could see that these weapons were not homemade weapons, but standard assembly line products.
“We are descendants of the colonizers.”
Renault nodded dazedly: "Excuse me, who are you...?"
"The new Imperial Governor of this planet."
Leon waved his hand, and the priests following him carried out simple medical equipment from the landing craft, as well as enough food and water.
They placed these things in front of Reno and the survivors. Although the colonists did not dare to move, their eyes began to glow green.
Li Ang ordered: "Arrange your people to maintain order and collect these things. Don't worry, you are safe now, and we will have a long time to deal with the next matter. By the way, what is your name?"
Raynor, with a look of joy on his face, quickly lowered his head and said, "Jim Raynor. My lord, my name is Jim Raynor."
Li Ang glanced at him.
This name sounds like a good candidate for a rebel leader.
-
Raynor took Leon back to their settlement. Along the way, Leon learned a lot about the planet from him.
The hostile environment and the presence of smaller dragon species confirmed the existence of a World Soul on this planet. Their sightings of a pair of Eldar wielding spears, darting through the jungle, also convinced Leon that the World Souls on this planet were different from black dragons and were rather traditional.
It is in symbiosis with the Savage Eldar.
The Savage Spirits, also known as Wild Bean Sprouts, pursue a simple and primitive life to purify their body and mind, enriching their souls through hard work, and thus giving up pleasure and indulgence.
However, Leon thought this was nonsense, because the World Soul really took good care of these spirits.
World souls like Catachan with erratic temperaments are a minority; most world souls will tailor their world's environment to the needs of the Eldar. Some world souls will even personally assist the Savage Eldar in dealing with outsiders arriving on this planet, just as they did with these human colonists.
The food has been fed to the mouths of the Soul of the World. Can it be considered hard work for the bean sprouts to walk a few steps to get the food?
It's like the financial crisis during the Terran era, only to find out they simply switched from red wine and steak to potatoes and sardines. Compared to humans, aren't these bean sprouts living in paradise?
Moreover, although these Eldar seem to be living in the pre-industrial age, they are actually both independent and have not completely abandoned their technology.
It's not surprising that the human colonists couldn't defeat them given their level of skill. Furthermore, some of the Savage Eldar even possessed unique dragon cavalry regiments...
Wait, dragoons?
Leon tried to call Miraberias, but just like he had disappeared suddenly before, the black dragon was as dead as if it had not responded at all.
But that in itself is an answer.
The Blue Star in this Warhammer is really embarrassing.
Li Ang decided not to expose Heilong's scars for the time being and shifted his attention to other issues.
Although the Savage Eldar live on this planet, the ones they just fought against were not the Savage Eldar.
"Why did the Ark Eldar come here?"
Chapter 251 "Gathering of Heroes"
Although the Tao system advocated by the Ark Eldar is different, the relationship between the Savage Eldar and the Ark Eldar is relatively close among the Eldar.
The Savage Eldar often accept those who cannot adhere to the Dao system into their seclusion. Conversely, the Ark Eldar will also send troops to help the Savage Eldar deal with the enemy when the Savage Eldar are unable to deal with the enemy. The relationship between the two is much better than that with the Dark Eldar.
That's true, but after all, they have different philosophies in life, and no matter how close they are, they can't just share what they have. It's not like they can just come over and visit relatives whenever they want.
If that's the case, why are the Ark Eldar here?
Could it be that they are here to help the Savage Elven Tribe deal with this group of human colonists who have run out of options?
Leon began to check the records in the colonial camp.
Although the colonists' means of communication with the outside world had been destroyed, the rest of their existence was relatively intact. Their camp even had a functioning, automated log-keeping system called the Thinker. Leon was able to obtain a complete account from it, rather than the vague records passed down orally.
These records show that the Savage Eldar defeated the humans in the first few months. After ensuring that the humans on the island could not contact the outside world, they did not kill them all, but used them as a test for their dragon riders.
This was not clearly recorded in The Thinker, but Leon was able to guess what was going on based on the regular appearances of dragons and records of attacks.
The dragon riders of each tribe must prove their bravery by hunting humans in order to become recognized Eldar warriors.
