Germany does not seek survival

The German Communist Party and the National Socialist Party each won five ministerial seats. The five ministerial seats won by the National Socialist Party were important positions such as the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

Of course, because the Berlin government was actually unable to perform administrative functions, even these most important ministerial positions were nothing more than empty titles promised.

Compared with the heads of government departments, the title of Prime Minister given to Faust and the five ministerial positions given to the National Socialist Party are more like rewards similar to knighthood.

But for the National Socialist Party, which has weaker political influence, Faust's nomination of five ministerial positions is still very useful. This can at least make the five members of the National Socialist Party famous nationwide.

Faust nominated Hitler as Minister of the Interior, Rommel as Minister of Defense, Rudolf Hilferding as Minister of Finance, Robert Bosch as Minister of Transport, and Rathenau as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications...

The young generals of the National Socialist Party in their early twenties, together with a group of experts recommended to Faust by Rathenau, a combination of professional military officers and technical experts, form the main background of the National Socialist Party today.

As a socialist revolutionary party, its worker component is very low, which is one of the hidden worries of the National Socialist Party.

But at the moment, Faust has no time to solve this hidden worry.

Applause rang out again. Behind the scenes of this conference, Liebknecht actually did a lot of work to persuade the representatives of the German Communist Party and the Independent Party to support the arrest of the Social Democratic Party representatives. He also had to persuade everyone to give Faust this special political status.

Kautsky was still somewhat worried: Would Faust become a dictator even more terrifying than Ebert in the future?

Faust is more like Napoleon than Albert...

I just wonder whether those present here will be the Jacobins who were sent to the guillotine, or the Thermidorians who became Faust's stepping stone?

After the arrest of a large number of Social Democratic Party members, some people also raised the question of whether the legal status of the Center Party, the Progressive People's Party, the Conservative Party and the National Liberal Party should be restored.

These parties were the main right-wing parties during the imperial period. Among them, the Conservative Party and the National Liberal Party were both parties that clearly supported the monarchy. Naturally, it was impossible for them to be given the right to participate in the Greater Berlin Workers, Peasants and Soldiers Council in the Republic.

The remaining Center Party represents the power of the Catholic Church in Germany and supports constitutional monarchy, while the Progressive People's Party supports the republic. Comparing the two, among the major parties during the imperial period, perhaps only the Progressive People's Party is qualified to fill the vacancy left by the Social Democratic Party.

However, the leader of the Progressive People's Party, Gustav Stresemann, had already fled revolutionary Berlin and was most likely in Ludendorff's army, so it was impossible to restore the legal status of the Progressive People's Party.

The legal political parties in a revolutionary regime must, at the very least, not support the monarchy, and they must not cooperate with rebels who attempt to overthrow the revolutionary regime by violence.

These two points are definitely non-negotiable.

After the conference, Faust breathed a sigh of relief. He had to take things one step at a time. Luxemburg was the first to come and congratulate Faust on his election as the Prime Minister of the first official government of the Republic.

Faust brushed the nonexistent dust off his shoulders and said calmly, "Rather than being a figurehead prime minister with no real national administrative authority, I'm actually more suited to being a defense minister."

Luxemburg smiled and said, "You are still young, Comrade Faust. Chairman Liebknecht can only serve one or two terms as president. You will have another chance to become president in the future."

Among the core members of the National Socialist Party in the capital Berlin, Hitler was the most dissatisfied with the outcome of the conference.

Hitler stood in the back row and secretly complained to Sorge: "Mr. Faust is the president, and I am the chancellor. This is the best arrangement."

Sorge raised his eyebrows. "You're kidding, Comrade Adolf. It would be better to merge the titles of President and Prime Minister and have Sir Faust hold both positions."

Hitler put one hand on his waist, raised the other hand and made a fist and said, "You are right. If you add President and Chancellor, you should still be called Führer."

The most lonely person at this conference was Kautsky.

During the two Battles of Berlin, the Independent Party, which was originally the most powerful party in the left-wing coalition, fell behind everywhere and even became a bit unpopular, only half a step away from the counter-revolutionary camp.

Kautsky learned from his mistakes and realized that Germany would not calm down so easily in the future. The civil war would still have to be fought, and it would probably take many years.

Without troops, we have no say and will only have less and less say. The Independence Party cannot continue like this.
