Infinite Hunter

Guns and bullets are managed separately, especially when receiving bullets, the shells must be handed in. The loss is within a certain proportion. If it exceeds, a report must be written and the quantity received will be less.
At the station, Cheng Yijiu heard that the management system for adventure groups would soon be implemented. The circular buildings surrounding the station would serve as the bases for each group, under official management. All weapons and armor for the adventure groups would be stored in the base's armory. Upon returning to the city, they would be inspected and allowed to leave without weapons or armor. Unlike these officials, Cheng Yijiu could take his guns and some ammunition home.
Aside from the forest growing deeper and deeper day by day, nothing much seems to be happening. While the wildlife population is certainly multiplying, and there are a number of dangerous mutated creatures, these haven't affected the base or the city within. This isn't something humans should interfere with; it's just a natural process, isn't it? Consequently, many good things will emerge, and that's the responsibility of the adventure group and the official investigation team.
Cheng Yijiu arrived at the base, put his belongings away, and went straight to the rooftop. He set up a large electronic zoom telescope. The integrated eyepiece had a soft silicone sheath, and Cheng Yijiu leaned forward to see nothing. The bracket supported the dual-lens telescope, which was as large as a large camera. The built-in low-light and infrared vision allowed Cheng Yijiu to see a considerable part of the forest clearly.
He adjusted his focus because he'd spotted creatures moving in the clearings and ponds deep in the woods, at least four or five kilometers from his base. "Aha, it's a giant deer." It was another fixed mutation, arguably the largest deer to have been revived from extinction. Each one was larger than a heavy draft horse, averaging over two meters at the shoulder. Not counting their antlers, it was common for them to be over three and a half meters tall.
Female deer lack antlers, while male deer possess enormous, magnificent, palm-shaped horns, the widest of which can be three and a half to four meters. Male Megalodon deer are truly exceptional hunting treasures—even a hunter like Cheng Yijiu, a specialist in hunting ferocious beasts, would be tempted to shoot a full-grown male deer. These male deer are over a third larger than females, standing two and a half meters tall at the shoulder and up to five meters long. Their massive horns are four meters wide at their widest, and when they raise their heads, they can stand nearly five meters tall.
It is truly a magnificent and beautiful animal.
Cheng Yijiu counted the deer: one male, seven females, three fawns, and four sub-adults, making it a single population. "I guess those sub-adults will soon force the male out of the herd," he said, taking photos and videos through his telescope. This was connected to the internet, and he would create a database to record these animals, which would then be uploaded to the forestry department's larger database.
"I didn't expect the database to reveal at least one mutated South China tiger, along with three non-mutated ones—it seems nature has healed well, and the biodiversity is abundant enough to support top predators." Historically, the area near the Magic City was also home to South China tigers; tigers thrive in areas with dense waterways. Now, these areas are already teeming with sambar deer and wild boar, swarming in droves. Cheng Yijiu has long since given up counting their numbers.
He could only make an estimate based on the time period and area. Within the approximately fifty square kilometers here, there were more than a thousand wild boars, at least two thousand small and medium-sized deer, and perhaps three populations of giant deer, totaling about forty heads. There were also four to five hundred wild buffaloes - mainly wild water buffaloes. It could be said that the dense water network here was extremely fertile, much more fertile than the tiger reserve in San'er.
This place is a paradise for carnivores. Foxes, badgers, and the like are common, and even wolves can be found in packs of at least two or three, forming groups of five to seven individuals. Cheng Yijiu has even seen a black bear. All of these include mutants. He hasn't seen a South China tiger yet, though reports have been received from other bases. That mutant South China tiger is even larger than he, a tiger, perhaps comparable in size to a giant hyena? Standing 1.5 meters tall at the shoulder, it should be the type capable of preying on giant deer...
I've heard that mutated tigers in the north and south are even larger, and of course there are more large herbivores there. "Ah ha, I'll just have to wait and see what new missions there are. The interval is pretty short this time."
Volume: Bones
Chapter One
The mission's deadline was still long, and this time the display was different from the past. "A life in a new world? Are they asking me to leave? That's impossible. My parents are still here." Of course, with the hut's ability, perhaps it could be seamlessly connected to the past. All it would take is a few minor revisions to my parents' memories...
However, Cheng Yijiu really hadn't thought about this.
There were no restrictions on his missions in this world—modern rifles, low-light night vision goggles, and so on were all allowed. Unfortunately, Aldimura couldn't bring any, nor could Black Dog. So—an M70 rifle, a double-barreled short-barreled pistol, and a Rambo knife. That was all he needed, along with a combat jacket, overalls, and combat boots.
Cheng Yijiu just hoped he wouldn't end up in Chinese territory right away. If he did, he'd probably get picked on, maybe even jailed. He just hoped he could end up in the US. The description of the hunting target was strange. What on earth was this "distant echo"? Cheng Yijiu was completely baffled, but after pushing the door open, the man crouched down.
"Oh no... We're really in China. I think we're doomed! Quick, find a place to rent or something and hide this thing! Luckily, it's all hidden and not exposed out in the open." When they walked out, they were in a park, but wasn't there a Chinese sign just outside the bushes? If Chinatown also had Chinese signs, then that familiar road sign on the pole outside couldn't be in Chinatown, right?
Besides, he was familiar with this park, "Fuxing Park! Damn, if he gets caught this time, he might not be able to get out for three to five years." This is the core area of Shanghai... Fortunately, Cheng Yijiu used to be an official, and he looked very calm and composed. The pocket where the gun was placed looked more like a sports bag for badminton rackets, so Cheng Yijiu took out his mobile phone and found that all the apps were still usable.
He transferred a small amount of money, proving his bank account actually worked in this world. Feeling reassured, he hailed a ride-hailing service to return home. Getting there would still cost money, and the subway was certainly a good option, but he couldn't take it. "Since my bank card works, there's no reason this address can't be mine. Even if it isn't, there's a budget hotel nearby," Cheng Yijiu thought.
He touched the wallet that suddenly appeared in his pocket. This person could only carry a few folded currencies and some precious metals like US dollars, British pounds, Japanese yen, and euros, and of course, RMB. He opened it and found not only an ID card, but also a passport and an invitation letter. He opened it again and found a small notebook. "So this is what I do."
Cheng Yijiu finally figured out that he was actually a well-known animal behaviorist, wild photographer, and "animal trainer", and that the invitation letter was inviting him to attend an exhibition held somewhere. Of course, his passport was issued for the purpose of participating in this event, and it already had a visa to the United States.
"It seems that the target of this mission is in North America - that's strange, why did you leave me in my hometown? Maybe in the end the problem has to be solved here..." After Cheng Yijiu's car arrived at the destination, he was able to use the key to open the door of the two-story building he bought - this place is close to Hangzhou Bay, and it is almost out of the Magic City. The money for the online taxi alone cost nearly two hundred.
After entering, he looked around and confirmed that it was indeed his house—because Cheng Yijiu could smell his own scent, his heart was at ease. He immediately went to the storage room and put away the gun, bullets, and knives—they couldn't take any of these on the plane. So what should he do in the United States? He couldn't buy a gun with a visa alone, but the good thing was that he could buy a crossbow—which didn't require any documents to buy in the United States.
"Although I'm a little unhappy, I'm afraid I can only rely on bows and crossbows to solve the problem this time - I hope it's an opponent that can be defeated by bows and crossbows." Cheng Yijiu sighed a few times. He checked the plane ticket on his mobile phone and found that it had been booked, and it would be in a day.
The flight from Shanghai to the US was essentially a torture, with a layover and taking almost a day. Afterward, he had to take a domestic flight to Montana. The person who had invited him was Nathan, a "good friend" he'd met at work. He'd heard that Nathan worked for a Silicon Valley unicorn biotech company specializing in biological cloning technology.
What they were actually developing was a technology that allowed human cells to degenerate into stem cells, which could then differentiate into various organs. The gimmick was to resurrect ancient creatures like saber-toothed tigers. When Cheng Yijiu realized this, he naturally thought of scenes from various American movies, where a cloned beast escapes due to a loss of control, killing people one by one, and a hero steps in to take care of everything.
"Could it be that this happened after I went there this time?" Cheng Yijiu shook his head. "It shouldn't be like this. Normally it should be a white or black person. A yellow person as the protagonist will definitely not be a hit." Nathan took him to the company - not in the city, but in the wilderness of Montana, a farm surrounded by electrified barbed wire and high walls.
There were several buildings inside, and an area that looked like a pig farm. After Cheng Yijiu entered, he found several small animals inside. "This is a bison," Cheng Yijiu immediately recognized it. "There's something wrong. It doesn't look like a North American bison. There's something different." He looked up at Nathan, who was smiling. "Don't tell me this is a long-horned bison. It's been extinct for 20,000 years."
A woman's voice rang out, "That's right. It seems you're not undeservedly famous." Her words were rather proud and a bit rude, as if she were calling Cheng Yijiu a charlatan. Cheng Yijiu turned around and saw a woman in a white coat, about thirty years old, with a good appearance. Cheng Yijiu felt that she was more suited to being a scientist than here.
"Is this the spokesperson of your company?" Cheng Yijiu also asked Nathan, and of course his words were rude.
"Hahaha, this is our chief technology officer in charge of the local laboratory." Nathan patted Cheng Yijiu. "Elizabeth, Cheng... is the best wildlife photographer I know, one of the best hunters, and a magical guy who can 'telepathically connect' with wild animals."
The woman was still quite proud. She nodded to Cheng Yijiu as a greeting, "Nathan is not the kind of guy who likes to brag. I temporarily acknowledge your ability." Cheng Yijiu couldn't help but wonder if this woman was sick.
Chapter two
"So you extracted DNA from the bones of the long-horned bison? And then found a North American bison to be a surrogate mother and give birth to a calf?" Cheng Yijiu asked Nathan. "Luckily, the expedition team I led went to the tundra of Canada a few months ago and found several long-horned bison corpses frozen in the tundra." The guy winked.
Since Nathan knew Cheng Yijiu and invited him, it was because he was also an excellent field photographer and paleontological excavation expert. This bastard was very good at finding fossils, especially at discovering Cenozoic treasures in the permafrost zone.
"Don't tell me that your company has restored the North American lion and the saber-toothed tiger?" Considering his mission, Cheng Yijiu immediately asked Nathan this question with doubt, but was perfunctorily brushed off by this bastard - this guy didn't say whether it had happened or not, but just spoke vaguely.
Cheng Yijiu could only wait, figuring these guys would definitely show him—otherwise, why would they bring it up? Without making it public, there's no way to tell a story, and it won't drive up the stock price. "Mammoth? Or Smilodon? Smilodon can use a lioness as a surrogate mother, mammoths can use Asian elephants, and short-faced bears are a bit more problematic because their existing relatives are so small... probably not."
Cheng Yijiu began to have a foreboding feeling, which reached its peak later when Nathan approached him for a drink. While drunk, he recounted his fossil excavations, "Using a high-pressure water hose to flush away the frozen soil reveals the bodies. That's how we found the DNA before."
The reason why they built the project in Montana and called Cheng Yijiu over...the reason was finally revealed. Nathan knew that Cheng Yijiu was still an Indian under the skin of a photographer and biological behaviorist, just like him, and the company happened to discover an ancient Indian relic in Montana.
Unlike other so-called ruins of civilization, which only yielded a few artifacts of ancient culture, this one was clearly different—the murals depicted people piecing together bones from different creatures, and then, with the support of some force, bringing them to life. The reason this was a research topic, rather than just some ancient Indian fantasy, was explained by a photo Nathan showed Cheng Yijiu.
"You said this is an animal skeleton?" Cheng Yijiu looked at the half-rotted monster in the photo. It had the body of a bear, a huge head like a crocodile, a long neck and tail, and even huge appendages on its back that looked like folding knives. This thing must have been dead for hundreds of years. Judging from the background, it was in a cave, so it was only half-rotten now.
Nathan nodded. "Well, I asked you to come here so you can check it out, and then we can go inside together—one team has already disappeared." His adventurous spirit was evident in his words. "That's why there are so few foreigners," he muttered inwardly, while Cheng Yijiu continued to study the photo.
Then he found that Elizabeth rushed over in a rage and snatched the photo from his hand, "You are crazy, Nathan! How can you show the photo to outsiders! Have you eaten the company's confidentiality system?! Damn it! I will fire you before anything happens!" The woman was very fierce, and Cheng Yijiu had felt the situation on his body before - Apollo's divine power did not move, which meant that in this world he could not expect human body illumination, and the ointment was probably just an ointment for stopping bleeding and healing, and had no other effect.
This place was beyond Apollo's reach; it had its own set of rules. "In that case, Nathan, it seems you can't do anything about it. I'd better go back." Cheng Yijiu wasn't trying to retreat, but rather he really didn't want to hunt where his target might be. He hoped that unlucky Nathan would "lure" the target out so he could solve the problem himself.
Elizabeth and Nathan were arguing, and Cheng Yijiu was not easy to persuade - it was easy to get himself involved. He also had a very bad impression of this woman. This kind of treatment of him as an enemy made Cheng Yijiu leave here on his own and return to the residence Nathan arranged for him. "Hey, Nathan, remember to give me a set of crossbows - I think I probably can't carry a gun here because it would be illegal..."
Nathan waved his hand during a break in the argument to show that he could handle it.
Elizabeth was adamantly against letting Cheng Yijiu enter the ruins, but she did not object to him observing the small animals in the company's breeding base - yes, in addition to bison, mammoths could also be bred, because there were two pregnant Asian elephants waiting to give birth, and the fetuses were mammoths.
Longhorn bison are easy to manage. They can quickly establish a population by using bison as surrogate mothers, and then naturally reproduce. These are the largest cattle ever, weighing over two tons. Mammoth reproduction, on the other hand, is much slower. Pregnancy is long, they only give birth to one child, and their growth cycle is also long. An optimistic estimate of a population of around 1,000 mammoths within 50 years is already quite optimistic.
And long-horned bison can breed more than a thousand in at most twenty years.
"Is this an echo of the past?" Cheng Yijiu touched Xiaoniu's forehead.
Later, Nathan came to him with a crossbow, but Cheng Yijiu chose the bow over the crossbow. "There aren't many opportunities to shoot, so speed is paramount—especially for follow-up shots." Cheng Yijiu took the powerful hunting bow and, to suit his shooting style, specifically selected one with a right-side arrow rest. Because Cheng Yijiu wore a ring on his finger, he practiced traditional Chinese archery.
The aluminum alloy shaft, coupled with the extremely lethal blade-shaped arrowhead, could kill even an elephant with a single arrow. Cheng Yijiu's bow strength started at 80 pounds and could be adjusted up to 120 pounds, which was more than enough for his heavy arrows.
At the same time, Nathan apologized to Cheng Yijiu, "Man, I'm sorry you can't get in. But it doesn't matter. I have secured a subsidy for you. Just watch me succeed." The guy laughed frivolously.
Two days later, Cheng Yijiu stood by the window, watching Nathan lead a group of six fully armed men toward a cave on one side. The cave was surrounded by a circle of barbed wire and even two low buildings that looked like fortresses. Elizabeth stood outside Cheng Yijiu's window, occasionally glancing at him warily. "Don't worry, I won't go in. I hope Nathan can return safely."
Cheng Yijiu had a premonition that his mission was likely about to begin...
third chapter
Then he could just wait, and practice his archery, shooting practice arrows at fixed and moving targets. Cheng Yijiu had always used guns, so he needed to get used to the bow and arrow. He could shoot accurately, but he needed to find the feel. Putting on the brass ring, Cheng Yijiu easily pulled the powerful bow, took aim briefly, and with a flick of his thumb, the arrow was nailed to the target. "Not bad, but I'd feel better if I had a gun."
Cheng Yijiu nailed arrow after arrow onto the target, and soon put down his bow. "It's really a physical job. My arms are a little tired after shooting just these few arrows." He shot the nearly 100-pound bow more than 100 times in a short period of time. This is an inhuman performance... The food here is pretty good compared to the United States. The hamburger patties taste okay, at least they can fill my stomach.
Cheng Yijiu was not clear about the specific situation, but he could see the atmosphere - "The atmosphere in this place is a bit heavy, I have a bad feeling..." Cheng Yijiu played with the newly delivered hunting knife, a Boyi knife with serrated blade and a length of nearly 30 centimeters. It had a sturdy full-length handle, which was probably enough to pierce a brown bear's skull with one blow.
A day and a night had already passed, and nothing had happened, except that the air pressure in this place seemed to be getting lower and lower. Cheng Yijiu felt that he needed to find a way to escape first. There were cars in this place, quite a few, but the one Cheng Yijiu had his eye on was a light off-road motorcycle - unfortunately, it wasn't his, so he couldn't buy it for the time being. "I hope that bastard Nathan is lucky enough and doesn't cause anything he can't handle." Cheng Yijiu knew that this was probably wishful thinking.
Because in this world's records, especially from his own notebooks, every time he and Nathan worked together, there was never a single incident that didn't result in major trouble. Either he or Nathan would always cause something incredibly difficult to deal with... To this day, a small country in Central America is still suffering from the "vampire bat crisis" they caused. Of course, this was the work of the original Cheng Yijiu in this world, and the current Cheng Yijiu had no memory or responsibility for it.
"Nathan in the notebook has a talent for messing things up. I guess he thinks I'm also a genius at messing things up..." Cheng Yijiu thought maliciously. He closed the door and slept well at night - if there were any big changes, he would wait until he woke up. Because Cheng Yijiu had checked, the door of this room was a sturdy anti-theft door, and the windows were double-layer tempered glass. The building was a multi-story reinforced cement concrete building, so safety was guaranteed.
After waking up, I dressed and headed to the restaurant for breakfast. "Nathan and the others haven't come out yet? Oh, this makes me feel even more uneasy." Investigating a place like a cave for more than a day is quite dangerous, as camping inside is dangerous—this isn't a journey to the center of the Earth, so there's no way we're going all the way to the center. Sure enough, after noon, Nathan emerged—and there was only one other person there, leaving the six-person team with four members missing.
Cheng Yijiu didn't know, because he wasn't allowed to approach this side of the cave, and his restricted range of activities was limited to his room, the hall, the dining room, and a portion of the wild cattle grazing area outside the dormitory. Cheng Yijiu was currently in the dining room, flipping through a newspaper and drinking coffee, his bow and arrows at his side—it was essential to carry a weapon at all times. And here they were—a loud bang was heard from outside.
"Damn it! I knew something must have happened," Cheng Yijiu muttered, grabbing his bow and quiver before running out of the restaurant. "Oh! Holy shit!" Even Cheng Yijiu sighed at the sight—because even though he couldn't see the entire cave, he could see the smoke rising into the sky, along with the explosions and gunshots.
The constant sound of gunfire and explosions indicated a serious situation. Cheng Yijiu decisively ran to the parking lot, connected the motorcycle circuit without hesitation, started the light off-road vehicle, and drove it up the hillside from the side. He planned to observe what was happening from a distance before considering how to deal with it. "Is Nathan still alive?" he muttered, raising his binoculars.
"Oh, holy crap! What kind of monster did Nathan provoke?!" What appeared through the telescope was a flayed, gorilla- or monkey-like creature with incredibly long, lizard-like arms and legs. Dark red in color, withered and lanky build, it was larger than an elephant, its arms and legs probably four or five meters long. The creature nimbly navigated the complex terrain, while the company's guards and the two bunkers fired relentlessly at it.
As for the explosion? It seemed to be caused by the monster's vomited spheres contacting something, and the explosion was as powerful as a defensive grenade. "This thing is almost immune to bullets—the strength of its bones is probably comparable to that of steel. This is too exaggerated, it's fucking unscientific." This thing moves in an unpredictable and fast manner, and the guards can't keep up. And doesn't this monster attack people?
Just looking at it, five or six people were probably dead. And as Cheng Yijiu watched, someone turned and ran. The entire guard unit fled, and the bunker stopped firing—explosive materials were sprayed in through the firing holes, and then the fire inside went out. Nathan was running away, tumbling and crawling, and of course, the skinned long-legged monkey was chasing him.
The telescope turned to an angle. Elizabeth seemed to be in a state of impotent rage, but judging by her pale face, the woman must also be afraid. "Damn, this is a bit difficult." After thinking about it, Cheng Yijiu decided to be the sixth one - let Nathan be the bait. When the monster caught Nathan, Cheng Yijiu would shoot an arrow through the monkey's skull. That's what he thought.
"Did this guy wake up the monster or what? Why is this skinned monkey chasing him? There's a weak-legged security guard closer." Cheng Yijiu thought this guy must have taken something deadly, so he was being chased by the monkey. He started his motorcycle and quickly approached. After estimating a position, Cheng Yijiu abandoned the motorcycle and stood there, ready.
He estimated that if Nathan continued running for about a hundred meters, he would be caught by the monkey. At this time, the monkey would be completely exposed to him. The distance was only about twenty meters, so a single arrow would be perfect for killing him. "I hope Nathan is lucky enough and won't be caught early," Cheng Yijiu said.
Chapter Four
Although Nathan looked desperate, his movements remained perfectly steady, and he ran at a furious pace. Cheng Yijiu finally understood why the strange monkey had been chasing him. It was because the creature was holding an irregular, rectangular, glowing crystal, at least half the length of his forearm. Seeing the skinning monkey about to catch Nathan, Cheng Yijiu nocked his arrow and prepared to shoot.
The change happened almost immediately. Elizabeth was still quite far away, and the skinned monkey simply disdained this woman and went straight for Nathan. At this distance, the crystal in Nathan's hand automatically flew out. Cheng Yijiu was watching this thing actually fly without power, and this place should be a parking lot. The cars in the entire parking lot were shaking.
Nathan was very clear-headed about this change. He just had to keep running. Any pause to check the situation would be disrespectful to his own life. Cheng Yijiu was similar. What happened to the thing wasn't the most important thing. The most important thing was the skinned monkey. He immediately drew his bow and aimed at the hesitant monster. The monster was now shaking its head, unsure whether to chase the flying crystal or kill the bastard who took it first.
Just when it was in trouble, Nathan ran farther, and a strange whistling sound suddenly appeared in front of the monkey's eyes, and its body paused and then felt a huge pain. An arrow that was long enough directly penetrated its body. The arrow shot at the monster's neck. It used a large hollow arrowhead, and the extremely sharp blades on both sides easily cut half of the opponent's neck, causing a very horrible open wound.
"Isn't it bleeding much?" Cheng Yijiu was no longer surprised. He immediately pulled out his second arrow—a specially crafted arrowhead, sturdy yet pre-fractured, conical with a grooved tip. It had a time-delay fuse at the tip and was filled with twenty grams of RDX. Cheng Yijiu drew his bow again and released an arrow, its graceful arc piercing the monster's chest. Since he was going to explode, he naturally aimed for the largest area, otherwise it would be a waste if he missed.
After the arrow hit, there was a huge explosion. It was unclear whether the skinned monkey was dead or not. Nathan and Cheng Yijiu were both stunned looking at the other side... because those cars were flying! And then they were put together! Twisted and deformed and connected to each other! "Isn't this the fucking Transformers set? Is this a magic ball? A leadership module?" Cheng Yijiu muttered to himself, and Nathan had already crawled closer to Cheng Yijiu. After hearing what he said, he replied, "Don't ask me, I don't know!"
These cars were linked together, twisted and deformed, and a fire broke out due to the gasoline leakage. In the flames, something gradually took shape - and at this time, the situation on the other side also ended. The skinned monkey was blown to pieces and must have lost its vitality.
"What's this? What the hell did you get out of there, you piece of shit, Nathan?!" Cheng Yijiu saw a four-legged, crawling mechanical monster at least thirty meters long. Judging by its flat head, it was probably a giant salamander. It was a thirty-meter-long mechanical giant salamander. Its shape was roughly discernible, but its skin was covered in fragments of mechanical structure. Elizabeth had also run over, staring at the thing in a daze, but then her eyes suddenly lit up with enthusiasm.
Cheng Yijiu glanced at the woman and put away his bow and arrow. This thing in front of him was not something a bow and arrow could handle. He needed a 120mm smoothbore cannon. At the very least, he needed 250kg of aerial bombs, or at the very least, 30mm depleted uranium rounds. In any case, a bow and arrow would be useless. Even a rifle would be useless. What to do if it was useless? Of course, run. This mission was not that easy.
This robotic giant salamander before him was no match for a normal human—one look at its eyes, formed from multiple car headlights, and then at the sharp jagged teeth of broken steel bars and plates within its gaping mouth. It was immediately clear this wasn't a creature a mortal could handle. "Let the American soldiers handle this, damned piece of shit." Cheng Yijiu decided it was best not to get involved. His most important thing to do now was to return home immediately.
Hopefully, the company, blinded by greed, will suppress this information until it's too late—I believe that in this land, wealthy corporations are truly more capable than the federal government. Cheng Yijiu will have to flee back home before this is exposed. How powerful is this thing? Cheng Yijiu believes it can do nothing but damage. What if the Americans actually put this thing on an aircraft carrier, hoping to create a super Transformer? Cheng Yijiu can only wish them good luck.
The giant salamander's movements were fluid, just like a real one—not very fast but incredibly destructive. "Hey, buddy, I'm leaving now. Call me when you're all right," Cheng Yijiu patted Nathan, signaling his departure. He then picked up his motorcycle and tried to escape. Nathan tried to catch him, but couldn't. "Hurry up, Nathan! How much money is the company paying you to be worth your life?" Cheng Yijiu shouted out, out of kindness, before disappearing.
Nathan woke up as if from a dream and immediately looked for a means of transportation to escape, but was caught by Elizabeth. "Don't even think about running! Catch it with me!" The woman's eyes shone brightly, completely ignoring the fact that the robotic monster was wreaking havoc on the parking lot and other buildings, and had already killed several unlucky security guards. Nathan also cursed the crazy woman, "What are you going to catch it with?"
Cheng Yijiu ran away, but the motorcycle became increasingly uncontrollable, feeling the urge to turn around and get stuck back on the giant mechanical monster. "Damn it!" Cheng Yijiu cursed inwardly. If he was involved in this, with the US government's tone, it would be a miracle if he could return. He didn't want to swim across the Pacific to get back home. Besides, now that things were serious, he would have to find a way to get fake American documents, and he would probably have to take a roundabout way to escape—first to Europe and then try to get back home.
He scolded Nathan and the others. Now it seemed that he couldn't escape. He could only abandon the motorcycle - this thing could actually be driven without anyone, and headed straight for the huge mechanical giant salamander. Nathan was very happy to catch Cheng Yijiu, "Hey, do you have any other ideas?"
"Shit! You stinking piece of shit! Do you have a rocket launcher here? You don't want to rely on those small water pipes and grenades to solve the problem?" Cheng Yijiu twisted Nathan and cursed. Elizabeth looked at them coldly. Cheng Yijiu turned his head to look at the woman and said viciously, "Give me money! And it has to be a high price!"
chapter Five
Elizabeth woke up as if from a dream, and now she was a little timid. The majesty that Cheng Yijiu exuded at that moment was definitely not the "ordinary wilderness photographer" she had seen before. It was an aura that was ten thousand times more dangerous than Nathan, probably the aura of a cannibal. She nodded. "Do you have any explosives or something?" Cheng Yijiu asked. Elizabeth's question was useless. She probably didn't even know if there was any explosives left in the warehouse.
After wreaking havoc in the parking lot and crushing or otherwise reducing the hapless security guard to a pulp, the robotic monster finally turned its attention to the three idiots—they hadn't taken the opportunity to escape. Cheng Yijiu considered them truly fools. Now, they had no weapons to beat them with. Even the 9mm pistol hanging from Nathan's waist wasn't enough to even scratch them, and Cheng Yijiu's explosive arrows were probably of some use.
Even though the monster's movements weren't fast due to its size, the speed of its claws swishing and its jaws biting was still a headache for Cheng Yijiu and his companions. For every one step the monster crawled, three of them would have had to run several. With terrifying momentum, the mechanical monster charged towards them, shaking the ground. Cheng Yijiu drew an explosive arrow, half-drawn the bow, and released it.
He aimed right at the inside of the man's mouth. The explosion was quite intense, probably blowing off a few pieces of metal, but it had no effect on the overall structure of the thing. "Not enough yield!" Even Nathan knew why. Elizabeth's physical fitness was surprisingly good, at least she hadn't been caught up yet. "Split up! Nathan, take this woman and search the base for anything useful, and call the police!" Cheng Yijiu shouted.
Then Cheng Yijiu fired another arrow—he only had five explosive arrows. They definitely wouldn't be enough to take down the monster before him, but they were enough to draw it in. This time, the arrow hit one of the monster's eyes. Cheng Yijiu couldn't understand how a bunch of headlights could form a sighting eye. It had sight, of course, but headlights? The explosion shattered nearly all of them, and the mechanical monster let out an electric roar—it seemed like the car speakers had found their place...
The headlight shattered and then stopped lighting up. "Does this thing count as losing vision on one side?" Cheng Yijiu was a little unsure, so he specifically ran towards the side of the robot giant salamander that was "blind," while looking for an opportunity to shoot the other side's headlight eye as well. "It actually works!" After trying several times, Cheng Yijiu realized that this thing really had lost vision on one side. Several times, it crashed heavily into the mountains or buildings, and several times, its claws on that side missed or it stumbled.
That's easy, just go around and shoot another arrow. About half a minute later, Cheng Yijiu finished off the other eye. Now the giant salamander was truly on the rampage. "Oh, damn it. Couldn't those two guys have been quicker?" Cheng Yijiu cursed to himself. The monster's threat wasn't much of a threat to Cheng Yijiu as long as he calmed down. If he hadn't thought about risking his life, he would have been attacking it from around the monster.
"What's the point of attacking? There's nothing we can do about it from now on." He did have one more explosive arrow, but it was useless. Cheng Yijiu kept increasing the distance. Nathan should be the one to worry about what happened next. He had already bought them enough time and even destroyed the machine monster's vision. He had already done enough for them.
Cheng Yijiu thought it was time to find a way to leave - but before he could leave, he saw the huge mechanical monster begin to disintegrate.
"Is this thing finished already?" Cheng Yijiu had to see the change. Before his eyes, the giant robotic giant salamander began to shed various metal parts in a chaotic manner, while the automotive materials it was made of continued to twist and deform, "regenerating" from the damage. At this time, Nathan also ran out of the building, holding the familiar dynamite tubes in his hands—the kind that came in bundles of three.
Seeing the monster crumbled to the ground and disintegrating, the man ran over to ask what had happened. "No, I just blinded the mechanical monster." Cheng Yijiu was also puzzled. "It's coalescing." After observing for a long time, Cheng Yijiu came to a conclusion. A large number of the chaotic body and underbody parts were shattered and disintegrated, but the remaining structure began to become extremely delicate. Even the car's skin, which had been twisted and compressed inside and out, began to wriggle and spontaneously form sheet metal.
"Holy crap!" the two men exclaimed, for amidst this jumble of metal junk, something seemed to be forming itself at its center. These two were both outdoor photographers with exceptional eyesight; anyone else probably wouldn't have been able to discern it, only to notice the constant movement of the junk. "That's a deer, right?" Cheng Yijiu had already recognized it: the various pipes, gears, bolts, and other things... It looked like an exhaust pipe and a cylinder engine, forming a deer.
The car's skin, surprisingly smooth, formed into the deer's "exterior skin"—part of its neck, chest, back, entire head, thighs, and calves. And then there were the massive horns, constructed from tubes and skin. This was a metallic deer, its horns six or seven meters wide when it raised its head, its head eight or nine meters tall, and its body over ten meters long. Again, the light bulbs, this time presumably the taillights, formed the deer's eyes.
Cheng Yijiu also caught a glimpse of the crystal, a fleeting glimpse of it. He saw it embedded within the chest skin and mechanical structure. After the deer formed, it didn't attack, but instead fled the area at breakneck speed, heading into the mountains. This earned Elizabeth an angry accusation, and this time, neither Cheng Yijiu nor Nathan would tolerate it. "We don't have the ability to capture a monster like this—you don't think we can catch it with just explosives and human flesh, do you?"
Ultimately, this was Nathan's fault! The entire base was in shambles, with most of the security guards dead and most of the researchers relatively unharmed. But could this matter be suppressed? What would happen to the company if the federal government found out? These were all problems, but Cheng Yijiu had it simpler. He felt that this matter seemed to be related to his mission.
Chapter Six
Although he lacked divine powers, his extraordinary physical strength remained. Of course, he was carrying something—that's right. Cheng Yijiu quickly entered the company building and looted some supplies, especially high-energy food bars and a large water bag slung over his shoulder. He then took some water purification tablets and fled. Elizabeth was busy trying to unify the company's narrative and frantically prepare for the aftermath—at least twenty people had died this time, and the trouble was both huge and minor.
"As long as she can cover it up... Montana has a lot of these things going on, right?" Cheng Yijiu thought as he ran. "Damn, I have a bad feeling this might get pushed onto me. I really shouldn't have come here." It was too late to regret now. Shouldn't he go to the federal penitentiary? He should be able to become a real bully there anyway—the Chinese, especially the Han Chinese, have always been a strong people. In a fight, they'd never be outmatched by black or white people.
But according to normal calculations, it should be fine. After Cheng Yijiu sorted himself out, he grabbed his backpack and ran off. Nathan had wanted to run with him, but Cheng Yijiu assigned him an important task: to ask Elizabeth for money. In fact, if there was no money, Cheng Yijiu could get away safely, he wouldn't care about the US dollars. The deer ran away, but it left a trace. The split hoof prints were more than ten centimeters deep in the soil, which was too obvious for Cheng Yijiu.
It's a robotic deer, after all. "But as the deer moves, I feel more and more like it's evolving into a living thing." Cheng Yijiu looked at the bolts and metal frame on the ground, then looked up at the branches and bushes broken by the monster's passage, feeling a bit creepy. It seemed to be constantly adjusting its internal structure, so much so that metal parts fell along the way.
The most crucial thing is that the depth of the footprints is getting shallower and shallower, while the hardness of the soil has hardly changed. Cheng Yijiu looked at the gaps between the hoof prints and the scratches on them, "Damn, this thing is getting more and more agile, and it's starting to be no different from a real animal." The weapon in Cheng Yijiu's hand is still a bow and arrow - this broken company does not have any heavy weapons, and it is conceivable that a 9mm pistol and a small-caliber rifle will definitely be useless against the steel monster.
