Chapter 9 Love
Cheng Yijiu led the way, and the two of them walked cautiously on the roof. "It's better than I thought. At least the ridge is pretty solid," he muttered. The villagers walking around below probably hadn't seen them yet. They quickly advanced along the ridge, leaping across the gap between the houses and landing safely on the other side. But Xiao Zhang had a harder time.
Although he was definitely from some special forces and his physical fitness and combat qualities must be first-class, he was ultimately not as good as Cheng Yijiu who possessed the ultimate physical fitness of humans or even the abilities of large cats that surpassed it. So although he jumped over, there was a slight error in the landing point, causing a tile to slip off, and with a snap, a tile fell from the roof to the ground and shattered.
Almost all the villagers looked up at that moment, and Cheng Yijiu immediately recalled the scene when Li Sanguang came to the village. "Where is Ada? Where is Ada? Ada is in the house next to her..." He immediately recalled the CG scene of King Ada watching Leon running around the village from the house next to her. And now, a similar scene appeared before him, these dull-faced villagers raised their heads and looked at them, one, two, ten, twenty...
Their eyes must have been red, and then someone shouted. Of course, Cheng Yijiu didn't understand what he said, but he understood the actions. The guy pointed at them, and the others quickly took out their weapons and surrounded them. "This is considered an exposure." Cheng Yijiu still had time to speak. "I wonder if the alert will be lifted after we hide in a place with an iron gate in the house? Hahaha." He was quite relaxed.
Soon, however, Cheng Yijiu's relief was over. The other party hadn't even pulled out a long ladder to climb. Instead, they simply rushed into the house. It looked like half of them were preparing to climb the roof, while the other half were tearing it down. The ground shook under their feet; the gang was actually breaking down the wall. "Oh, damn! This isn't a game!" Cheng Yijiu and Xiao Zhang yelled, running quickly along the rooftop, trying to jump to another roof.
Someone was climbing onto the roof over there, too. Not only was their house being demolished, but someone had also started setting it on fire. Some villagers outside even pulled out their hunting rifles. "These aren't just ordinary villagers anymore. It seems the parasite hasn't ruined their intelligence," Cheng Yijiu yelled. He had already reached the end of his run, ducking down to avoid the rifle fire from below while also firing at the villagers on the rooftops, who were waiting in anticipation.
"At least my gun is pretty accurate," Cheng Yijiu consoled himself with this, aiming at a villager standing on a rooftop about five meters away, ready to swing his axe. Against these guys, hitting the body wasn't going to be much use; you had to aim for the head. Cheng Yijiu gripped the pistol in a triangular formation, tilted his head slightly to aim, and pulled the trigger. The .45mm bullet accurately hit the villager's eye socket—it was easier to hit the soft eye than the hard skull, allowing the bullet to enter through the eye socket and turn the brain into mush.
The shot villager didn't even scream, falling headfirst from the roof. Xiao Zhang, holding a 9mm M17, turned to watch and praised, "Excellent marksmanship!" The roof began to shake, and with the dull crack of gunfire, the villagers below, armed with hunting rifles, opened fire. A shotgun shell shattered an entire tile, sending debris splattering onto Cheng Yijiu's pants. He and Xiao Zhang both quickly ducked down the reverse slope, and the other man's marksmanship was clearly mediocre.
The house was shaking. The villagers who had climbed up were shot by Xiao Zhang with his pistol, and they tumbled off the roof one by one, landing heavily on the ground. Cheng Yijiu was delighted to find that someone had broken their neck and hadn't gotten back up. "The parasite isn't going to explode? It seems the villagers here are so clever, but maybe it's because the parasite hasn't developed yet." This was just speculation, but it did help calm the two people down.
Where do the parasites grow? Cheng Yijiu believes they're most likely in the chest cavity, where there's plenty of room for such a monster to colonize. Perhaps the parasites have even replaced some of their organs—a high probability, given that these villagers, after being shot, still possess sufficient stamina, seemingly insensitive to pain and unaffected by the damage, and their strength is even greater when they move. Even if their brains were shattered, these guys could still move—the previous one was probably just underdeveloped.
Cheng Yijiu couldn't jump over now because there were many villagers on the opposite side, and the violent vibrations under his feet made it difficult for him to aim. Not long after, amidst a loud crash, the roof suddenly sank. "Oh damn! Hold on!" Cheng Yijiu yelled. Not surprisingly, the house collapsed. "Are those guys desperate?" Cheng Yijiu also felt puzzled. "Or can the parasite heal their physical injuries?"
It's hard to say. Parasites can cause physical mutations, as proven in the game. Perhaps after a limb or torso is damaged, as long as the parasite is alive and receiving adequate nutrition, it can regenerate damaged tissue? It's quite possible. Otherwise, why would Umbrella Corporation want this thing? Isn't it to continue to strengthen their most successful product, the Tyrant?
Amidst a cloud of smoke and dust—it had to be said that the house was truly filthy, having not been cleaned for years—the entire roof collapsed, bringing down half of the second floor and two walls. At least three or four villagers who had been frantically smashing the walls inside were pinned beneath the second-floor floor and roof. Cheng Yijiu and the principal, however, managed to hold onto the roof beams in time and escaped injury. Cheng Yijiu glanced at Xiao Zhang, who quickly nodded to indicate he was alright.
Next, these two people will start to run away like Li Sanguang...
"Separate!" Xiao Zhang called out. "If we stay together, we two might not be able to make it!" Cheng Yijiu felt his command was inadequate, but Xiao Zhang had already turned around, smashed open the remaining window, and fled from the other side, dragging a dozen villagers with him. Cheng Yijiu simply raised his hand and fired, blowing half the head off the villager holding the pitchfork. He then tumbled out of the room, pulling out a dagger and holding it in his left hand.
"This guy, does he really think this is a game?" Cheng Yijiu smiled, "It's really a rare experience. I didn't feel satisfied with my last trip to Biochemical, but now I have a chance to enjoy the highest Biochemical in history. Hey, I want to keep this secret realm and come to play more often next time - for example, bring a Chicago typewriter, a .50 Magnum hand cannon, or an RPG..." Cheng Yijiu became more and more happy as he spoke.
So delighted was he that, as he rushed forward, he swung his saber in his left hand and, at almost point-blank range, cleanly and efficiently severed the upper half of a village woman's head, right through her mouth. Luckily, it was only a single joint that needed to be overcome, yet the strength displayed was already remarkable. "There weren't any disgusting bugs, not even much blood. Sorry, I take that back. There really were bugs."
Several limbs suddenly protruded from the cut surface, sharp as swords, followed by what looked like growths of vertebrae—but in reality, it was a multi-segmented insect, similar to a centipede, with slender limbs that were sharp and flexible. The only pity was that it couldn't close at its back to cut Cheng Yijiu, and instead, the hunter stabbed it hard with his saber. "This thing is quite hard, almost as hard as a block of iron—unfortunately, it's still not as good as a saber forged from powder alloy."
This strike was a powerful swing with a reverse grip, Cheng Yijiu simply wanting to test the parasite's strength—he had an estimate of its strength, which would be considerable due to its hydraulic muscles, and the shell, at least, was still relatively tender after being broken. Cheng Yijiu's strike must have caused considerable damage to the parasite, causing its upper body to sag from the jawline to the chest, seemingly unable to move.
But the fact that the human body could still move indicated that the parasite was still alive, so Cheng Yijiu simply delivered another blow, completely severing the creature's connection. After the upper half of the body slid off, the entire body fell to the ground. After the parasite died, it quickly decomposed, and in a short time, it turned into slime that seeped into the ground. Cheng Yijiu whistled. He had already faced the second villager, who was holding a scythe.
Cheng Yijiu dodged the scythe with ease, slipping his pistol back into the holster at his waist with a flick of his right hand. With a twist of his left hand, he shifted his saber grip from reverse to forward, thrusting it upwards through the jaw, easily piercing the man's brain. Cheng Yijiu's strength was immense; he pried his left hand back and forth a few times before kicking the villager away, pulling the knife free as well. Of course, the villager wasn't dead; the knife tip had only scratched his brain, leaving only a few cuts.
It certainly wouldn't work for an ordinary person, but since they were parasitic, it wouldn't be a problem. "I guess stabbing from behind to damage the brainstem or cerebellum wouldn't be very effective, right?" Cheng Yijiu guessed. Of course, he was on the run now, taking a group of villagers with him. As he ran, he would occasionally stop suddenly to take out a villager. He had learned his lesson now, not insisting on a single kill, but using multiple damage.
In short, he had the villagers stretch out their ranks and slow down. Even if they didn't feel any pain, ruptured tendons and ligaments wouldn't work. "These guys have brains, but they're mad dogs. They're so persistent even though I'm not someone to be trifled with, and they won't retreat even when they're injured." This time, Cheng Yijiu blew up the skulls of two villagers following him with his 1911 rifle, but no parasites exploded. This gave him time to start dealing with the problem—like reloading.
Cheng Yijiu seldom used the M17, which was holstered under his armpit. He still used the 1911 as a starting point. As for the guys who were rushing towards him from behind, Cheng Yijiu was ready to use his knife to help them go to hell. "Then I'll go to the square and the room to search. I'm starting to like this world."
Chapter 10: Running
Xiao Zhang seemed to be still holding out on the other side. Cheng Yijiu could occasionally hear the sound of 12-gauge buckshot being fired, a stark contrast to the pistol fire. "This guy must be doing some hit-and-run, too," he thought. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to see how Xiao Zhang ran. Cheng Yijiu holstered his pistol, drew his saber, and began to deal with the pursuers. No matter how fearless he was, a bullet was still a bullet, and movement was definitely going to be difficult.
Cheng Yijiu, his saber in hand, easily knocked the villagers to the ground, then used the saber to free them. It wasn't as foolish as in the game, nor was it as dangerous as the less skilled players faced. These guys were only slightly more difficult to deal with than the average person—average people would collapse after being hit by bullets, but these guys could still hold on. With the knife, they all died naturally.
Only two villagers spawned bugs, fragile centipede-like creatures—emerging from the necks of the fallen villagers, making it incredibly easy for Cheng Yijiu to attack them from behind. They couldn't possibly turn around and attack Cheng Yijiu, so he easily sliced them in half with his knife. "The chances of a headshot aren't very high, so I guess more bugs won't appear until later."
At this time, Cheng Yijiu ran back again. He had to go see how Xiao Zhang was doing. Then he saw this guy climbed up the tall bell tower in the village. It seemed that he relied on the advantage of the stone building and the only access to it to squat inside and grind. Not surprisingly, Cheng Yijiu saw villagers carrying explosives and detonators. In the game, they would just throw firecrackers at the top, but in reality, they just let Xiao Zhang prepare to fly a homemade plane...
There were quite a few people surrounding them, and even Cheng Yijiu wasn't sure rushing in would solve the problem, so he aimed his M17 at the villagers holding explosives—the M17 was a better choice at this distance, as the 9mm bullet had a relatively straight trajectory, and he didn't want to make a mistake. Cheng Yijiu leaned against the wall, first looking around to see if any villagers suddenly appeared, then he used the wall to stabilize his aim.
Cheng Yijiu shot the villager holding the explosives box, the bullet piercing his skull from the side. He quickly fired two more shots, knocking the villager to the ground. "Any more buckshot?" Cheng Yijiu shouted. "Evacuate!" He was about to run away, but there were at least twenty villagers gathered below, and among them he could even see a burly man holding a chainsaw.
"There's no sack on my head," he muttered, running as fast as he could. The shouts from behind proved that several villagers were already charging towards him. Of course, the sound of the chainsaw engine indicated that even the strong man was coming to attack him. "I wonder if I can get the ruby after killing him..." Cheng Yijiu was in a really good mood, moving quickly between the houses, looking for an opportunity to fire a shot from time to time.
This time he was using an M17 SIG Sauer. The game-like trick of shooting someone in the knee and then running over to mow down a whole group with a single kick wasn't going to happen—shooting knees while running was incredibly difficult. So he just shot at the body. The 9mm wasn't very effective at stopping someone, but it still killed them. After a few rounds, the average villager would fall to the ground.
Cheng Yijiu didn't intend to waste ammunition. He just fired a few shots to lure the villagers to chase him, giving Xiao Zhang a chance to retreat. Of course, he took advantage of the corner and his running ability to kill a few villagers who were chasing him quickly. By the way, Cheng Yijiu also discovered something: the villagers who had parasites appearing after the headshot lost the ability to run and could only chase people at a slightly faster pace.
Moreover, after the parasites appeared, the villagers likely lost their sight, relying on hearing, air flow, and smell to chase prey. "Will bright light kill them?" Cheng Yijiu wanted to test it out. He had a tactical flashlight, and finding an opportunity, he adjusted the brightness to the brightest flash mode, then suddenly turned and flipped the switch. Some villagers were hit in the eye, and it looked more painful than being shot.
Each one of them bent over, staggered, covered their eyes, and screamed. The parasites protruding from the necks of the two villagers whose heads had exploded suddenly retracted into their chests. The movement was so violent that it even caused several cracks in their necks and even seemed to rupture their chests. As for whether the parasites could still survive in this situation, Cheng Yijiu didn't know, but it didn't stop him from quickly advancing and using his pistol and knife to exorcise these people while they were unable to fight.
"It seems the explosive flash is a special attack on these guys." Cheng Yijiu happily took care of the six villagers here. He ignored the two guys who retreated like insects. After killing the villagers, he quickly ran to the square. In front of him was a crashed helicopter, two Stallion Kings. The helicopter was burned to a mess. It seemed that there was nothing decent to find. "No body..." Cheng Yijiu checked and found no body.
"How did the helicopter fall?" Xiao Zhang had also arrived. Cheng Yijiu had previously aimed his gun in the direction he had rushed from, but it seemed he had successfully shaken off the villagers. "I don't know. As a soldier, you should check it out." Cheng Yijiu shrugged and went to examine the armored vehicle that had also been damaged. The vehicle was simple enough, its armor plating riddled with dents from large-caliber bullets, and the hole on one side was likely the work of RPG fire.
There were bloodstains inside the carriage, which was not surprising, but some of the marks made Cheng Yijiu feel a little ominous - he ran his fingers over the long marks on the inner wall, Cheng Yijiu stretched out three fingers and compared them, "Hmph... claw marks, this is it." There was no doubt about it, this was definitely the claws of something he had seen before. There were also some rags in the carriage, and the seats were twisted and deformed, with the surface torn.
"It should be that after the fighting stopped, the rear door of the carriage was destroyed, and then a creature of at least the level of a Licker rushed in, causing a panic - I think there may be more people killed by accidental firing from their own people than those killed by the Lickers." Cheng Yijiu thought as he looked at the bloody bullet holes. Fortunately, even so, there were still considerable supplies left here - at least a lot of 9mm pistol bullets, there were about 240 rounds at a glance.
There were also 7.62 NATO rifle bullets and magazines, but the rifle was nowhere to be found; it was probably dragged away with the body. Cheng Yijiu did find grenades, however, so he stuffed six of them around his body. Xiao Zhang also arrived at this point and stuffed the remaining grenades around his body. "They were shot down by the Stinger," he said. "There's an enemy here that can use the Stinger. Could it be a Tracker?"
It's a good thing the villagers can use hunting rifles; otherwise, they should have used captured American assault rifles. Cheng Yijiu and his men would have been dead long ago. And who else in the biochemical world can use modern missiles and bazookas? Isn't it just the Tyrant series?
Chapter 11: Explosion
Xiao Zhang found fragments of Stinger missiles, confirming his theory. According to his assessment, the two heavy helicopters carrying commandos were caught off guard by multiple Stinger missiles launched from several directions, tragically shot down along with the crews. As for any survivors?
There wasn't a single human body part in the helicopter wreckage. There were traces of burnt blood, but no one. "You didn't find any weapons or ammunition? But we did find two unburned medical kits, which was a bit of luck," Cheng Yijiu said. Xiao Zhang gave him a kit, and Cheng Yijiu also distributed the bullets he had taken from the armored vehicle.
Xiao Zhang found plastic explosives and the corresponding electrical pipes inside the armored vehicle, about a kilogram. This amount was enough to easily blow off the doors or walls of some buildings. "It's just that we didn't find the assault rifle, otherwise things would be much better later. Okay, we should get that girl back—if we continue like this and get discovered by the villagers, it won't be a good idea."
Besides, the houses in the village hadn't been completely searched yet, so there might be something valuable there. However, if they did that, they would definitely have to fight the villagers, and having assault rifles would be much easier, but right now, they only had shotguns and pistols. "Hopefully, we can ring the bell and leave, otherwise who knows how many villagers will 'spawn' in the village," Cheng Yijiu muttered.
Xiao Zhang checked the M17 and hunting rifle in his hand. Cheng Yijiu was doing the same thing. He used the gun cleaning accessories he found to clean the 1911 and M17 - he had to pay attention to the maintenance of the weapons in his hands so that they could be fired when needed. Xiao Zhang looked at Cheng Yijiu meaningfully while he was cleaning, "Very skilled..."
Cheng Yijiu smiled, "Studying in the United States, these are all essential skills for survival in the United States." There was a nostalgic expression on his face, "shooting guns, cleaning guns, repairing guns, buying guns, but I can't bring them back." He reset the slide of the 1911 with a click, "I'm familiar with this thing." Then the two of them started loading bullets and filled all the magazines.
After tidying up, drinking some water and eating a piece of dry food, the two of them quickly returned to the village. At least two-thirds of the buildings on the map had not been thoroughly searched. There were quite a lot of villagers in the village. Cheng Yijiu had clearly killed at least twenty villagers before, but now there were at least thirty villagers walking around the village and doing incomprehensible work.
"There are only about twenty or so one- and two-story houses here, so where did all these people come from?" Xiao Zhang and Cheng Yijiu both complained. They were ready for battle, and this time they had to clear the village out. The guy with the chainsaw disappeared along the way last time, so this time, no matter how many showed up, they would be wiped out.
The two men quietly infiltrated, hoping to eliminate a few villagers through assassination. "I hope they'll be like the enemies in Shenhai, easily eliminated from behind or from below," Cheng Yijiu, a veteran gamer, also expressed his own prayer. This seemed to be the case, at least when Xiao Zhang approached a lone villager with his back to them from around the corner and grabbed his neck, dragging him backwards, the man was effectively dispatched in a snap.
"The neck was broken, but the bugs didn't explode. Dead." Cheng Yijiu, squatting beside the villager, examined him and came to this conclusion. "Villagers killed by physical techniques won't explode? But isn't that a setting in the game?" Both of them felt a sense of unreality. "If we could find the true form of this world, I think it would be very useful," Cheng Yijiu said. "At least we could use it to train real combatants, right? Even if we die?"
"A life." Xiao Zhang raised a finger. "Isn't it too dangerous?"
Cheng Yijiu and Xiao Zhang separated, about 20 meters apart, preparing to cover each other's stealth. Xiao Zhang's assassination ability was stronger than Cheng Yijiu's, and he quickly took out four villagers with a sneak attack. Cheng Yijiu, on the other hand, didn't take out any of them. He was indeed a hunter and a swordsman, and could be called a "sword master", but he was not an assassin. To attack from behind, he had to rely on a dagger.
Cheng Yijiu gestured to Xiao Zhang, then pulled out his 1911 and shot a villager with his back to him from three meters away. This stirred up a hornet's nest—almost all the villagers let out strange cries, gathering their friends and surrounding Cheng Yijiu. Cheng Yijiu broke into a run, pulling out the grenade hanging from his waist, flipping the safety with a flick of his thumb, and throwing it directly into the throng of villagers.
Amidst the massive explosion and shockwave, a dozen villagers were blown away, dying instantly. It seemed that even villagers blown away by grenades wouldn't produce insects. But as the grenade exploded, the doors of the villagers' houses suddenly flew open, revealing American soldiers and Japanese people dressed in various clothing—all zombies.
"Damn it!" Cheng Yijiu cursed loudly, and immediately put away the 1911 and took out the M17 with more bullets - this was enough to deal with zombies. After all, zombies' skulls were relatively fragile, and a 9mm rifle could also blow their heads off. As for the villagers, they could leave them alone for now. The sudden appearance of hundreds of zombies was the real trouble. "Now I know where all those Americans and the notebooks from the early exploration went..."
This group of people had the misfortune of being killed and infected by the T virus, turning them into zombies. Judging from the scars left on their bodies, the most likely victims were zombies. The American's situation was less certain; the wounds looked strange. However, now was not the time to investigate. Cheng Yijiu kept firing. Since he was still at range, he could patiently aim for the heads and fire, but he had to be careful of the villagers who moved faster.
Cheng Yijiu had to frequently throw grenades to blow up the rapidly approaching villagers. Fortunately, Xiao Zhang could also provide support. He distracted many villagers, and the crossfire killed many of them. However, every villager who was shot down by the gun exploded with insects...
These bugs were completely uncooperative with the zombies. The bugs that emerged from the necks of the villagers who walked slowly would attack the zombies approaching them - in fact, the zombies would also attack the villagers before... The sharp legs of the bugs were driven by hydraulic muscles to swing quickly and powerfully, and because of their position, they were attacking the zombies' vital point - the skull.
Cheng Yijiu was still under a lot of pressure, because the number of zombies seemed to be increasing, and the villagers had hunting rifles in their hands, and he also heard the sound of chainsaw engines...
Chapter 12 Refresh
This was indeed very troublesome, and Cheng Yijiu had to run away quickly. The stone houses had iron doors and windows at the back, so Cheng Yijiu had to try to use the iron doors to fight the monsters. He hoped that the villagers' IQ would disappear. It seemed that after the insects exploded, they had indeed lost the IQ to execute tactical encirclement. Perhaps they could only open a door?
Zombies were even more clueless, at best able to climb stairs and ram doors, and again lacked any tactical flanking abilities. But the Chainsaw Ancestor was a bit more problematic—first, Cheng Yijiu and Xiao Zhang had to deal with the villagers who still had bugs popping out of their heads and were therefore using their shotguns. They weren't Li Sanguang or the Hand Sanitizer God of War, and if they were actually hit by a villager's spray gun, they wouldn't be able to heal themselves by simply eating herbs or washing with hand sanitizer.
Fortunately, when the villagers weren't exploding bugs, their intelligence seemed to be a bit flawed—for example, they didn't care much about the tactical exploitation of allies or zombies within their range, often aiming recklessly at Cheng Yijiu or Xiao Zhang. The result was a loud and terrifying sound, but it was other villagers and zombies that were struck down. The hunting rifle was quite powerful; the 12-gauge 00 buckshot could easily blow apart the skulls of several nearby zombies, and of course, it could also completely destroy a villager without exploding bugs.
The villagers' firing relieved Cheng Yijiu of some of the pressure. Of course, he didn't give them an easy time, shooting them in the head whenever he saw an opportunity. Once a bug appeared, the villagers immediately stopped firing—if there were still bullets in the chamber, they would pull the trigger, but they wouldn't aim or reload. After a few attempts, Cheng Yijiu had dispatched all the villagers with guns and retreated directly to a room with an iron door.
Anyway, these guys won't flank him, so he just needs to block the door and treat them to physical attacks or saber attacks when they open the door. If he had a shotgun, he would definitely treat them to a shotgun attack, but he didn't have one. Cheng Yijiu didn't block the door, but instead pushed the bed in the room against the door - the iron door was opened outwards, and these guys couldn't come in immediately once the door was opened. At this time, Cheng Yijiu could use a stick or a pistol to hit them a few times.
Just as he expected, the villagers, whose heads had transformed into long, multi-legged insects, opened the door. The length of their bodies and legs prevented them from striking Cheng Yijiu, who calmly shot him in the heart with a 9mm bullet. Cheng Yijiu had tried, but the 9mm bullet wasn't lethal enough against the hard-shelled insects, and it wouldn't stop them in one go. However, hitting the heart of the parasite effectively stopped its functions.
As for whether they were dead or not, I didn't know, but it was true that they weren't moving. "I'd guess it would be difficult for them to even repair their hearts? These bugs can replace a lot of internal organs, but I guess they can't replace their hearts." Zombies were easier to deal with; a shot to the head would generally do the trick, though if they were wearing helmets, a kick would be more convenient. The sound of the chainsaw was getting closer. This old chainsaw was no pushover either.
He's Cheng Yijiu's best friend, wielding his chainsaw to slice through anything in his path—especially when he sees Cheng Yijiu or Xiao Zhang, when he seems to go berserk. This makes villagers and zombies easy to deal with; just let the old man slice them up. "Will the Chainsaw Ancestor spawn bugs?" This is an interesting question. Unlike in the game, there's not just one Chainsaw Ancestor; six appear at once.
Six elders, the approaching noise of a chainsaw was deafening. Could an iron door stop a chainsaw? Actually, it could—after all, the saw's teeth were designed for sawing wood. While it could work on sheet metal, cutting steel would risk chipping and breaking the blade. Hence the iron door's rattling and shattering noises. "A chainsaw isn't very effective for cutting human flesh—it's fine if it's frozen solid, but at normal body temperature, blood and fat will easily clog the blade, eventually blocking the saw's rotating mechanism."
Cheng Yijiu muttered, pulling out his 1911 and bracing himself. He was going to shoot the old man in the head the moment he emerged. He was just a mere Chainsaw Old Man, how could he possibly be as tough as he was in the game? The door looked ready to break, and a portion of the old man's skull was already visible. "Hmm, this position isn't perfect yet. It'll be fine if it's a little more exposed." A few seconds later, just as the perfect moment was about to arrive, a heavy blow was heard from outside.
The whole house shook, and dust fell from the walls of Cheng Yijiu's room. The stone walls were cracking, and the putty used to paste the walls had broken due to the protrusions of the stones inside. Something very heavy hit the wall, and Cheng Yijiu felt very bad, so he started to work - kicking the wall behind the window hard.
Kicking open the wall near the window made it easier to escape, because Cheng Yijiu had a bad feeling. Sure enough, a second heavy impact soon followed, shaking the entire house. The iron door frame was deformed, and the door was stuck, but a large part of the wall next to it also bulged out. A huge crack almost ran the entire length of the wall... "If it happens again, the wall might collapse." Cheng Yijiu had already kicked open a hole and was ready to escape.
The third impact came as expected, and unlike Cheng Yijiu's prediction, the wall didn't collapse, only a large hole. Amidst the smoke and dust, Cheng Yijiu estimated the hole to be at least a man's height, and that the thing that had smashed the bed along with the rubble was a chainsaw ancestor. The chainsaw ancestor looked utterly miserable, his entire body twisted and distorted, covered in blood. It was likely that something had "knocked" him out of the water, leaving him with nothing more than a torn bag.
The zombies and the villagers with exploding brainbugs outside were gone, but I could vaguely see what looked like these things on the ground. Perhaps they'd been beaten to a pulp... Anyway, the culprit who might have caused all this was now bending over, kicking the bed away, and stepping through the gap. "Damn it!" Cheng Yijiu cursed and quickly left the room, running away. He had spotted an expressionless, burly man, at least two meters two inches tall, wearing a boonie hat and a long military coat, walking out of the cave.
Cheng Yijiu had seen this thing before, the Tyrant. The problem was, it spawned so early? And isn't this the "4th generation"? Why spawn a second-generation Tyrant? Despite the complaints, this "game" seemed to be getting more and more interesting—which would explain why the American vehicles and soldiers were destroyed...
Chapter 13: Escape
Cheng Yijiu didn't see Xiao Zhang when he rushed out. He probably ran away too. Because Cheng Yijiu saw at least four tyrants wearing long military coats. Aside from the one who smashed open the wall of his room, the other tyrants were holding weapons. They could be Gustav recoilless guns, Stinger shoulder-fired missiles, or even Minigun six-barrel Vulcan cannons. Seeing this made Cheng Yijiu's scalp tingle.
He relied on the small pistol in his hand to fight against the tyrant? Don't even think about it, it's completely impossible. Cheng Yijiu's speed has reached his highest level, and he has been forced to use the stealth ability of a tiger. He must not be discovered by the tyrant, otherwise he will be dead. Apart from anything else, Cheng Yijiu felt that he might not be able to dodge Minigang alone - the stone house blocked the bullet? He must be dreaming.
Even if it was a 5.56mm caliber Minigun firing an SS109 bullet, a mere stone house wouldn't be able to withstand it—it would have to be reinforced concrete or at least ten centimeters of granite. A wooden door or ordinary stone wall definitely wouldn't be able to withstand it. If they were discovered hiding behind it, the result would be just the same: they'd be riddled with bullets. As for killing the tyrant? If they didn't have modern weapons, Cheng Yijiu wouldn't mind giving it a try, but they did.
Even these tyrants were not indiscriminate with their weapons. The tyrant who had previously smashed the wall of Cheng Yijiu's room soon broke through the wall near the window and came out. Cheng Yijiu saw that this guy had a holster outside his windbreaker, and inside it were specially modified large-caliber pistols - or two. One was a .44 automatic Magnum pistol with an extended handle, which must have increased the ammunition capacity, and a larger trigger guard. The other, which Cheng Yijiu recognized as a .50 M500 revolver, also had an enlarged grip and trigger guard.
Both of these guns were unusual, high-powered pistols, practically impossible for most people to wield, but they were perfect for the massive Tyrant. This reminded Cheng Yijiu of the old movie RoboCop, where Murphy's AUTO-9 was exactly like that, except it was actually an M93R submachine gun. Cheng Yijiu had witnessed the Tyrant using it to blast a chainsaw wielder's skull apart.
"Damn, this tyrant knows how to aim. I'm afraid it's really like RoboCop, but without emotions." Cheng Yijiu was assessing the danger of the tyrants. It seemed that the tyrants had human-like thinking, but it was hard to say whether they had any tactical coordination with each other. Right now, these tyrants were also slaughtering villagers—not deliberately, but when those uncontrolled villagers blocked their path or attacked them, they would be counterattacked and killed.
The Chainsaw Patriarch had his entire skull blown off by a .50 hand cannon. It can be said that he completely lost the tough style in the game. However, if he had a hand cannon with a power of 99 in the game, this Patriarch would have been killed with one shot... "Parasites... useless things with eggs." Cheng Yijiu muttered. The insects that exploded were really garbage in front of the Tyrant - even with the drive of the hydraulic muscles in their bodies, their sharp claws could hardly cut through the Tyrant's special coat, and instead caused his body to be crushed in the Tyrant's hands.
Cheng Yijiu was very lucky. The out-of-control villagers distracted the tyrants and kept them from being discovered. These tyrants were surprisingly restrained, mostly using fists and pistols to solve problems instead of going straight to Minigan or Gustav. Cheng Yijiu once again raised their danger level. At this time, the church bells rang, and the villagers who had not yet been shot in the head quickly filed into the church. The tyrants also quickly formed their team and left the village from another direction.
At this moment, Cheng Yijiu emerged from his hiding place—yes, he'd decisively hidden in the chimney, completely oblivious to the charcoal ash. Xiao Zhang had crawled out of the stone well, and finally, Aso was found—her hands and feet were numb, and she even looked a bit unconscious. The village was much easier to deal with now, as only a few zombies were still active.
They were barely a threat anymore, so after casually killing them, they began their extensive looting operation. Before entering the large houses through the church, Cheng Yijiu felt it necessary to conduct a thorough search, as this was the proper way to conduct the game. "Since this is a world constructed based on human 'fantasy', this is likely possible," Cheng Yijiu said, while Xiao Zhang mentioned the Americans. "I finally understand how these hundreds of heavily armed Americans ended up."
Cheng Yijiu also nodded. "How easy! Just spawn a dozen fully armed Tyrants, and then the Americans will be in big trouble. I suspect it won't just be Tyrants and Trackers, even so-called 'Flying Dragons' and other biochemical modulation weapons may appear, and then we can deal with those Americans in the shortest possible time. As for the battlefield, I don't think it will all be here. After all, this is a 'fantasy world', and the specific local conditions can be 'switched', right?"
It's entirely possible that those Americans had run headfirst into Raccoon City and were ambushed by the tyrants during the street fighting. Or perhaps something even worse was happening. Cheng Yijiu and Xiao Zhang were talking while Aso listened, stunned. The girl seemed to understand a little Chinese, or at least she was trying to understand the situation. The three of them searched the entire village with maximum efficiency, rummaging through boxes and even smashing down the walls.
They did find some success. They found two shotguns—both Remington pump-action 870s—and plenty of ammunition and grenades, a typical game feature. Sadly, they didn't find any herbs, not even a single color. There were plants, but who would dare put them in their mouths? Besides, they couldn't even see their own health bars. What good would a crafted health-boosting potion do? Did they really think this was a game?
Cheng Yijiu also found three bottles of spray, the English instructions on which he could understand. "Ha, it's indeed a wound disinfectant/healing agent from Umbrella Corporation. The instructions say to spray 20 centimeters from the wound. If you can close the wound before spraying, it will be even better... it will heal faster. This thing is really not just a slogan?" Of course, he couldn't use one bottle at a time like in the game. From Cheng Yijiu's point of view, for a knife wound around 20 centimeters long, according to the instructions, it should be able to treat at least six such wounds.
He didn't want to try it now because he hadn't found any antibodies to the T virus. Cheng Yijiu and Xiao Zhang didn't want to get hurt at all. "Which way should we go?" Cheng Yijiu said, "Or should we split up? I think you're a good choice."
Chapter 14 Accident
That night, a lot of things happened. Almost all the dinosaurs were out of control. The electric fences, concrete walls, and trenches that separated them were destroyed after heavy rain caused the grid to fail. The power system wasn't restored until morning. Even before that, not only were the dinosaurs out of control, but staff members were missing, the embryo bank was robbed, and the boss's grandchildren disappeared along with a scientist. Fortunately, they likely didn't get eaten by the Tyrannosaurus.
The lawyer can confirm that the Tyrannosaurus was eaten, as evidenced by the remaining body parts. The missing employee is the engineer responsible for programming the entire park's security control system. He disappeared in his car, and no boats were stolen at the dock. It's possible he created a backdoor in the security control system, causing a power outage and stealing the embryos. The question is, where did this fat guy go? No one knows.
As everyone knows, a major incident occurred during the park's pre-opening trial run, with nearly all the dinosaurs escaping. Had the staff not been in place, there would likely have been significant casualties—so far, only a few are missing. The visitor lobby is currently relatively safe, and the security captain has left with a few personnel. He's tasked with ensuring the safety of the visitor center—after all, everyone still on the island who's not missing is currently at the center.
Fortunately, the tech developers had already left before the storm, otherwise the visitor center would have struggled to accommodate so many people. This was because the attached hotel hadn't opened yet.
The captain treaded cautiously, constantly reminding his men to remain vigilant—for the Velociraptor, a medium-sized carnivorous dinosaur he knew was extremely dangerous, had also escaped. These nimble and swift creatures were formidable killers, and the captain absolutely refused to enter the jungle just yet. He advised his boss that the best option was for everyone to evacuate the island quickly before the dinosaurs could be transported to the visitor center.
But how could the boss agree to this? His grandchildren were still missing...
Hong Long woke up on the reef. He didn't feel the tides, as he kept his head mostly in an area where the tide wouldn't submerge him. The sea dragon's activity had decreased somewhat, and it was almost time for him to shed his shell. Although growth had almost stopped, regular molting was still necessary. This helped remove the barnacles and mussels that clung to his body. Even a creature as tough as a sea dragon still had parasites on its shell.
These creatures have clearly mutated. Sea dragons could originally kill parasites by releasing high-voltage currents, but over time, these creatures have been able to survive the high-voltage currents and appear to be thriving. In the past, these parasites had spread throughout the ocean, to the point where sea dragons would continue to be parasitized shortly after molting. Scientists in that world have also identified several new species of barnacles, mussels, and other parasites.
Fortunately, there were no parasites in the sea dragon's body, and he himself could feel it.
The sea dragon now has a lot of barnacles on its back carapace. While it can use its claws to clean the chest and abdomen, it can only remove them by shedding its shells from areas where its claws can't reach, such as its back. Because of this, the sea dragon is looking for a place to enter a deep sleep. The sleep doesn't need to last long, only about 72 hours. This is enough time for the sea dragon to shed its shell and harden its new shell.
The captain was on patrol in his jeep, determined to gather firsthand information—at least to understand the locations of the extremely dangerous carnivorous dinosaurs. When he crossed the road used to visit the Tyrannosaurus Rex area after rescuing the mathematician, he stopped the car despite knowing it was dangerous. These men, armed with automatic weapons, weren't particularly afraid of carnivorous dinosaurs—be they Velociraptor or Tyrannosaurus, they were both capable of killing them.
The key is to not panic, and secondly, to avoid being ambushed. The captain crouched somewhere beneath a concrete wall. Before him lay a massive footprint. It was a four-toed footprint, completely different from any other dinosaur's, and incredibly large, far larger than a Tyrannosaurus Rex's. The captain scowled at the massive footprint, "Oh, damn! Could those squinty-eyed guys have created some monster I'm not aware of? Damn it!"
A quick glance revealed that such large footprints must have belonged to a massive monster. As an experienced hunter, the captain quickly located the marks left by the creature on the concrete wall and the damaged electric fence. They were large, three-toed footprints with a dragging belly. This creature moved on four legs, much like a crocodile. As a hunter himself, the captain quickly estimated the creature's likely length. Using crocodile measurements, the footprints were likely thirty meters long...
What kind of crocodile could possibly be that big? Living crocodiles were out of the question, and as for those giant crocodiles from history—the captain had studied paleontology in his spare time since taking on this job, and he was considered half paleontologist and at least half paleoethologist—how could those scientists have observed and raised these dinosaurs up close like he did?
He was well aware that none of the ancient crocodile fossils discovered so far were that large, and only a handful of creatures in the entire history of life could grow that large. And now, the slant-eyed team was sure to cause some trouble again—they were bound to cause a major disturbance, the captain had an unwavering belief. And they had immediately fled after causing trouble, leaving him with the entire mess.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex was troublesome enough, and the Velociraptor was even more dangerous, but now those two dinosaurs combined weren't as dangerous as this thirty-meter-long crocodile—at least the captain thought it was a crocodile, not a Brachiosaurus or Diplodocus. A crocodile that big could easily drag a Tyrannosaurus Rex into the water and swallow it, so attacking the visitor center wouldn't be a big deal—hopefully, it would decide that humans were too small and wouldn't be worth it, so it would just go after the Brachiosaurus.
The captain's simple wish was halted by the roar of the spray gun. In the rainforest, the bushes shook, and a stiff tail appeared, rising high and swinging. The team members immediately assigned one person to fire in that direction, while the others, as the captain instructed, stood back to back on guard...
