【Wolves】Sugar, Spice, and Good Taste
Chapter 2
Logan walked to Scott's side with a plate of latte on it. The young man carefully moved his notebook, raised his head slightly to thank him, and then took the white porcelain cup with the gray wolf's head on it. Scott and the wolf with bright paws looked at each other, then the corners of their mouths turned up a little.
The owner of the dessert shop felt that he was being laughed at, but he just said bluntly: "Please take it slowly." He walked back, intending to see how Rogue's cake was doing. Scott leaned on the back of the chair and looked at the back of the boss with broad shoulders, took a sip of latte, and swallowed the beautiful maple leaf flower into his throat.
Scott was quite satisfied with the just right soft taste, but he still opened the granulated sugar on the table and poured two packs into the cup. The crystal sugar granules slowly melted in the temperature of the drink. After taking a few sips of the latte with increased sweetness, Scott, who had supplemented the sugar, felt inspired. He put the cup aside and started typing again.
Back at the front desk, Logan saw that the cake that Rogue was making in the display window was already in the final stage. The man knocked on the glass window, and the girl gave him an OK gesture. Logan brought the cake out of the window and set it on the counter. The whipped cream cake covered with various cream flowers is waiting in this freezer, and its owner will come to pick it up in a few hours.
The girl took off her overalls and came out from the back kitchen. She also saw the young man sitting in the corner. Rogue elbowed Logan who was wiping his glass next to him: "Your VIP is here?"
The man paused for a moment, raised his eyebrows and said, "He's not my VIP."
"Almost." The girl didn't care about her boss's rebuttal, and looked at the lower half of the young man's face not covered by glasses. From the outline, Rogue could be sure that he must be a handsome man.As if feeling someone else's gaze, the young man who bowed his head while typing looked back. Rogue immediately grabbed Logan's glass and began to wipe it, so the robbed dessert shop owner and his customer's eyes collided. The two stared at each other for a while. Although Logan couldn't see each other's eyes through the glasses, he still felt a little stressed when he was stared at by the man. The red glasses seemed to start firing lasers. The awkward atmosphere didn't disappear until Scott looked back at the computer screen nonchalantly and continued typing.
When the number of customers increased during peak traffic hours, Logan also forgot about the young man in the corner.
The shop was quiet again, and the lights of the small shop were turned on.The young man in the corner stopped and put away his computer. He walked to the front desk, "Check out," Scott looked at the shopkeeper who was a little taller than him, and asked after thinking, "...Boss?" Rogue, who counted the remaining cakes, couldn't help laughing.
"Rogue!" Logan called his employee's name threateningly before handing over the receipt.
Scott paid and took the receipt, and when he was about to leave, he heard the shopkeeper in a low voice: "Logan."
"Logan," Scott repeated subconsciously, before responding and said, "I'm Scott, well, you should know."
The young man took the handbag in one hand and continued, "Thank you for saving the seat." He nodded and said goodbye. After a crisp wind chime, he disappeared from the sight of the two.
Logan went to the corner to clear the cutlery and saw two empty sugar bags on the plate.
"Don't laugh like that, Rogue." The deadpan Logan said to the girl whose back was twitching his shoulder.
"I'm not laughing, Boss!" The voice, which was one degree higher than usual, was completely unconvincing.
"Forget it..." Logan totally understands people who feel like they're more of an arms dealer. He looked at the wall clock on the wall, and Logan asked, "Are the unsold bread bags ready for today?"
"Well, that's it." Rogue replied.
"You can get off work." Logan said, he will send the leftover bread and cakes to the orphanage two blocks away. Ororo is the caretaker there. She signed an agreement with Logan to buy them cheaply and not fresh enough. Desserts for the kids didn't expire though.
"Your biscuit made all the kids fall in love with you." Ororo once said, "But you better come back after they're asleep." Logan held two bags of food, watching the children bouncing and screaming around him. The screaming children agreed with a headache.
"So, you met the guy who saved you a lot of money?" the dark-skinned woman asked as she stood aside and watched as Logan stuffed the food he had brought into the refrigerator.
"Yes." Logan shrugged and straightened his back. "It seems that he will come here often."
"You can make him something delicious as a thank you, like a desert eagle and a grenade or something." Ororo had obviously heard Rogue say about him.
"Storm."
"I'm kidding, don't take it seriously, Logan."
In the days that followed, Scott often came to Logan's shop. After he ordered coffee and cake, he sat quietly in the corner typing and stayed all afternoon.Although Logan didn't have much interaction with him, the owner knew that the cakes he made would always have extra icing.
"So you're a writer?" Rogue asked, watching Scott eat honey cheesecake with a spoon.
"Just write some novels." Scott took the spoon out of his mouth, and he pushed his glasses, "About friendship, love and so on."
"Has it been published?" The girl became even more excited, which caused Logan to look at them a few times, "Which one is it, maybe I have read it too."
The young man thought for a while and then began to read in a soft and gentle voice: "Loveispatient.Loveiskind.Lovemeans..."
"...slowlylosingyourmind! *" Rogue immediately picked up, "You are Cyclops!" This line of the male protagonist's self-mockery to his friend made her feel very distressed, and she couldn't wait to go into the book and tell the boy with golden brown curly hair The boy rubbed into his arms.
"Have you seen it? It was my pleasure." Scott replied with a smile, and they chatted for a while until Rogue came to greet the guests, and Scott promised the girl would give her an autograph.
The desserts made by Logan are completely different from Logan's, they are all delicate and cute in appearance, and have a sweet taste. The young man dug another piece of dessert and put it into his mouth. The soft cake was wrapped in fine and sweet cream, and he also tasted a bit of the mellow aroma of mint wine.
Logan, who was sitting at the front desk, naturally heard Rogue's exclamation, and he was also a little surprised, not that he really wanted to beat Cyclops for venting his anger—after all, the author didn't do anything, he just wrote Find some perfect boyfriends and let yourself get dumped a few times.
The man sat sideways behind the counter, and he could see that "damn novelist" ate up the food he had cooked, and then began to press the keyboard quickly.Because of the angle, he couldn't see Scott's full face, and the glasses made the young man's expression not clear enough, but Logan could imagine his demeanor when he was typing, and the words that flowed out after the cursor flickered were all about his help. A beautiful dream weaved.
"Logan." The author in the corner called him, "Please give me a white mocha, thank you."
"OK." The man curled his lips in response, and started the seemingly complicated machine. After making it, Logan sprinkled an extra layer of candied sunflower powder on top of the whipped cream.
