The Cyanided Heart

Chapter 11: Interrogation

Light filtered in through the cracks in the doors, and the fresh air broke through the stale air in the car.Amy opened her eyes and the truck seemed to stop.

Amy felt her hands hurting from being strangled. Not long after, a few men who looked like soldiers rudely dragged the three of them out of the dark car. Amy struggled desperately, but was still dragged into another truck.

Amy was put on two new sets of handcuffs, one on each arm of the chair. The car smelled of rust and dim lights.

"Ah yes... yes, let's start with you." A blond-haired female officer walked into the car speaking unproficient Russian, and then ordered the soldiers to close the door.

Amy looked around helplessly. The blond female officer sat on the chair in front of Amy and stared at her.

"Oh? I'm so sorry, little guy. Let me introduce myself first. I'm Jessica Franz. If you're polite enough, it's better to call me sister."

Deep fear poured into Amy's whole body. She even forgot to struggle and faced Jessica in silence.

"Then... let's get to the point." Jessica pulled out a small notebook and a pen, "Let me ask you a few questions, and you have to answer them truthfully."

"...do you know a middle-aged man?" Jessica's eyes became sharp. "Has a beard, wearing a gray coat, with a gun. If you know him, what's his name?"

Jessica's words picked at Amy's memory like a dagger.Of course Amy knew she was talking about Reed, but if I'm being honest... Amy couldn't imagine.

"I...I don't know." Amy swallowed, and her eyes moved away unconsciously.

"You're lying." Jessica frowned.

The strong electric current stimulated Amy's nerves, Amy felt her body tremble involuntarily, and she felt her brain buzzing. She wanted to call for help, but no sound came out of her throat. There were wires attached to her handcuffs.

"I... don't... stop...!" Amy squeezed out her voice with difficulty. She stared at Jessica in horror, but Jessica had no intention of letting go of the button.

"...No! I...I said..."

"Really... I hate dishonest children the most, but I want to get information more... So I'll give you a chance." Jessica smiled and let go of the button.

"His name is... Reed." Amy felt cold sweat dripping down her back, "Is it okay...?"

"Reed?" Jessica frowned. "Does he have a full name?"

"John Ornest..." Amy replied timidly, not wanting to go through another shock.Jessica nodded in satisfaction.

"OK~" Jessica said in a joking tone, "Then the second question... where were you and your two friends going?"

"I..." Amy's eyelashes trembled, as if she was about to cry out of fear.Jessica crossed her fingers, waiting for Amy's answer.

"Why are you nervous?" Jessica smiled to ease the atmosphere, "Huh? I don't think there is a more benevolent general than me...in our country."

"I...we are going to escape..." Amy suddenly felt a sense of nausea, not because of Jessica...but because something abnormal was quietly spreading in her body, "run away, yes..."

"What... where are you going?" Jessica frowned, wanting to continue asking. And Amy just lowered her head palely. She felt a strong sense of dizziness in her brain, and the scene in front of her eyes turned into colorful snowflakes of the old TV.She wanted to wipe the cold sweat off her forehead, but she put her hands down weakly because of the constraints on her hands.

"I'm sorry, I... I'm a little dizzy..."

"What's wrong with you guy!" Jessica seemed annoyed because the information had not been collected, "I don't know medicine, but I don't want to waste field doctors on guys like you!"

Amy closed her eyes in pain.In a trance, she seemed to hear Jessica's "really useless" words, but they just went away from her like whispers in her ears.

Jessica seemed to leave, and she didn't forget to close the car door when she left.It was dark again in the car, and she seemed ready to interrogate Kate and Buford.

Amy felt as if she was lying on a soft bed, and the white curtains interlaced with light and shadow. She felt a cool breeze blowing on her cheeks, and could hear the whistling wind around her.

After an unknown amount of time, Amy opened her eyes. The air smelled of damp rust, and in the darkness she could vaguely see the metal panels of the truck.

No matter who has an instinctive fear of the dark, let alone a child.Amy thought that closing her eyes might reduce her fear, but the result was that her brain couldn't bear the delusion and ended in failure.Perhaps it was the sequelae of dizziness, Amy felt weak and heavy, and even her forehead seemed to be a little hot. That's too bad, Amy shook her head.

The bright light stung Amy's eyes. The sound of the metal door being removed came in her ears, and Amy couldn't help shivering.Jessica Franz was standing outside the door, and she was staring at herself coldly at this moment.

Several soldiers came and uncuffed themselves, then threw themselves back into the crowded dark truck.

"Hey, Amy..." A familiar voice called to himself.Amy raised her head timidly. It was Kate and Buford.

"Those guys didn't do anything to you, did they?" Buford frowned. "Well... are you okay?"

"It's...it's okay." Amy still had lingering fears about the electric shock, but she felt that speaking out would only worry her partners. So she chose to remain silent, "What about you?"

"That demon is called Jessica Franz, right?" Kate clenched her fists. "Damn it, there are so many problems...that guy!"

"I was asked about a dozen questions." Buford sighed. "It's really hard to answer."

"So... you all answered honestly?" Amy asked in a low voice.

"Hey...you can put it this way." Kate scratched her head, "After all, we're not together, and there's no way to make it up. But I also lied a little..."

"She was a little negligent." Buford stuck out his tongue, "Ask me if Kate's lie is true...I can only answer yes."

"That's right, that's it!" Kate scratched her head, "Don't worry, we will find a way to escape."

"Eh... is that so?"

Amy replied absently.

Why is it that only you can screw up everything, while others live in success forever?

But the brain always instructs itself to hide the pain it has experienced and show the good side to everyone, but it cannot freely tell its own experience. But even his ability to lie is inferior to others, even if he understands that it is a betrayal.

I'm so... useless.
