How to keep a human in captivity
Chapter 28
"We want to talk to you and come to an agreement."
When Kirk made his proposal, he was standing at a small round table, and his Vulcan first mate was ready to record the conversation, and he would put together a written agreement.
"Don't worry, your companions are safe."
"Oh, that's how you negotiate, and put the one who negotiates with you in jail?"
Khan admits that for a short period of time, he had a few thoughts of worry about his own fish.
Mermaid Arthur.
His mermaid is so soft and has a special sense of humor, sometimes you can't help but smile when you look at him.
But how do you expect that softness to take away all the malice from the world?
"We all know that you are dangerous." Kirk shrugged nonchalantly, "And we are not going to take risks."
"So you haven't considered that maybe I'll refuse to cooperate?"
"We rescued you from the hordes of zombies."
"I believe the situation was not so dangerous as to warrant your special assistance."
"Right, we could have handed you over to the starship headquarters directly." Kirk stopped pacing, and he said solemnly, "But we didn't, I think, this is enough to show our sincerity."
"We can also directly seal you into the freezer." The Vulcan pointed out rationally and logically, "The reason why you stay here is because our captain wants to talk to you."
"It won't do you any harm," Kirk added. "Try it and be nice. It won't do us any harm."
Khan was still standing straight in his glass prison. He smiled, as if he had compromised: "Then, let me hear what you plan to talk about."
Kirk and his first mate looked at each other, and the latter nodded imperceptibly.
"So." The captain of our Enterprise cleared his throat. "How about talking about Earth?"
"Interesting topic." Khan suppressed his voice and smiled dangerously.
In Khan's view, war is sometimes necessary, and he also knows that there are many people who enjoy the convenience of war but criticize it.
Better people should be allowed to rule the world.
This is the belief that superhumans follow.
And Kirk knows that if we can't completely change the other party's concept, at least we can seek common ground while reserving differences.
This is what he deeply realized during the voyage of the five-year plan. The universe is so vast, and the thoughts of human beings and aliens are not necessarily superior to each other. These thoughts have their own distinctive characteristics. From the history of their respective planets, but in general, some ideas are similar.
When a civilization evolves to a higher level, their trajectories are almost the same.
In Kirk's career as a captain, negotiation has never been an easy time, especially negotiating with a superhuman.
They made a lot of preparations for this. They searched all the information about Khan. Fortunately, those were saved by the computer. They naturally knew that all this was related to the eugenics war 300 years ago.
To be honest, Kirk is not worried that Khan will destroy all the zombies and rule the earth. What he is worried about is whether he will try to start a eugenic war again after Khan rules the earth.
——Let better people rule the universe.
This was the chilling consequence that the captain and first officer of the Enterprise feared.
"There are zombies all over the earth." Khan glanced at them, and said slowly, "If you want to know, some zombies seem to be incurable, and they seem to be able to do some simple thinking."
When Khan tries to appear convincing, he becomes very convincing.
First of all, he had to lower the vigilance of these two ordinary humans towards him.
"It's an interesting phenomenon." The Vulcan raised his head and raised one of his eyebrows.
But his captain's focus is on another aspect: "So, have you thought about how to deal with these zombies, including those who can think."
"If we can get your help." Khan continued to smile, "then we can help some zombies regain consciousness, and then destroy those who are hopeless and create a new world."
"We're not going to help you start a new war."
"Don't let prejudice and rumors control your thinking, Captain." Khan's voice was low and firm, "It is war that came to us, and history always repeats itself. If you want to restore the original appearance of the earth, then you You know, it's going to take a war."
"No, we don't need a new war, history tells us that peace is the only way to survive."
"History tells us that peace comes after war."
Negotiations stalled as neither Khan nor Kirk would back down.
So the Vulcan stepped in among them.
"A devastating war nearly destroyed my planet," said the Vulcan. "It is more logical to settle disputes than to kill."
"Deal with uncivilized threats, Vulcan." Khan smiled. "You can't negotiate with zombies and tell them, hey, let's sit down and talk about how to make peace."
"Logically speaking, if they can think and heal, as you said," the Vulcan said without hesitation, "then we can look forward to such a peaceful meeting."
"You can't be so naive," Khan replied. "Logic and intelligence by themselves are useless in battle. Vulcans, if you are not willing to break the rules, how can you expect you to break the bones of the enemy."
The Vulcan stared straight at the superhuman in front of him, who had an unreadable smile on his face.
This superhuman is of course dangerous, and then, you don't know where he is dangerous, this is the biggest threat.
"I think we need an intermission." Kirkla left his first mate.
They paced along the corridors of the library, continuing to discuss the Khan's problems.
"I really regret that I didn't seal him directly into the freezer." Our captain looked worried, "He can't be controlled by anyone, can't he, he wants a new war wholeheartedly."
"However, logically, I agree with you. We can't just seal him back into the freezer. It's like planting a time bomb."
"And the question is, we can make a deal with him, but how can we be sure that Khan will not be the leader of a new war?"
"The face of war never changes, Captain," the Vulcan replied, "but, logically, we will consider something else."
"Anything else?"
"The purpose of the war, Captain."
The author has something to say:
I don't think I'll ever get around the dangers of the Khan... so we'll have to address that, so forgive me if these two chapters seem dull and tedious.
