Shengyan: What are sentient beings?

The master said: All living beings in the six realms (heavenly, human, asura, evil spirits, hell, and animals) are sentient beings, while plants, microorganisms, etc. have vitality but no sentient consciousness, that is, they have life but no life, and they are regarded as sentient beings.Heartless does not belong to sentient beings, heartless is a thing, there is no sincerity at all, and there is no root of life.

Shengyan: The Buddha said that there are eight sufferings in life: birth, old age, illness, death, parting from love, long-term resentment, not being able to ask, not being able to let go.Sentient beings practice with karma, commit body, speech, and mind karma all the time, and eat the fruit of karma all the time, how can they attain the Tao?

The master said: The realm of sentient beings is equal, as flat as the realm of space.It is not difficult to become a Buddha if he is able to do this.

Victory: All appearances are illusory, and all conditioned dharmas are like dreams and bubbles, like dew or electricity, and should be viewed as such.Why do men and women in the world fall into love and prevent themselves from practicing?

The master said: My Buddha is merciful. "The love between a man and a woman is also included in the great love. The love of all beings is love. There is no difference between big love and small love. Only when there is pain can we know the pain of all beings. Only when there is attachment can we let go of attachment. Only when there is concern can we be free. care."

Shengyan: How can one be as wise as a Buddha?

The teacher said: Buddhas are people from the past, people are future Buddhas, and Buddhas were once as naive as you.

It is the time when the cold winter is killing, and the grass in the field is covered with morning frost.The wintersweet elsewhere has withered, but the wintersweet in the Jialan Temple is in full bloom. The head master said that because of the blessing of my Buddha, ruthless sentient beings can ask the magic day and night, and the fate is very special.

Jian Yan asked Master Fajue: "Can all sentient beings become Buddhas?"

Fajue said: "Sentimental and merciless, plant in the same circle. Sentient beings who become Buddhas can turn to the outside material world and be contained by their own pure mind. It does not mean that ruthless sentient beings can also become Buddhas. The nature of plants and minerals is called Dharma. Nature. There are also spirits attached to plants and minerals. Seven days of Buddha will be held seven times, and the last day will be recited at three o'clock. All believers in ten directions can participate with joy.

In the "Amitabha Sutra", "When you hear and speak of Amitabha Buddha, hold on to the name, if one day, if two days, if three days, if four days, if five days, if six days, if seven days, if the mind is not disturbed, the person will come. At the end of his life, Amitabha Buddha, together with all the sages, will appear before him."

During the Buddha Seventh period, the master teaches the eight precepts to the public every morning, and the master gives instructions and instructions in the afternoon.On the eighth day, we do three-hour remembrance, to save the dead, parents, teachers, relatives, karmic creditors, aborted infant spirits and all sentient beings who are predestined to be saved.

During this period, laymen can concentrate their energy, let go of their external relationships, recite the Buddha's name diligently, accept the eight precepts, and not eat after noon, and strive to achieve a state of undisturbed mind.

Jian Yan wakes up from a seven-day sleep in Jialan Monastery, and has forgotten all the reasons. He only remembers that his father is dead and his family is dead. He doesn't know why he came here and where he should go.After being taught by the master, I stayed in this ancient temple, cleaned the Buddhist hall every day, changed the great compassion water, and did morning and evening classes with the monk treasure.Cherish blessings in everything, and clean everything.

I have beaten Buddha Qi four times in this temple, and now I have accepted the three refuges and five precepts, and the name of the Dharma is beyond words.Originally wanted to go directly to Buddhism, but Master Fajue said: "The mortal relationship is not over, and the six senses are not clean. You are just missing a part of life, and there will be a day when you will find it. You will not have love in this life, and you will be reincarnated after death. If you don't fall into hell, you won't be reborn. Eternal reincarnation, until the extinction of love and fate, everything becomes empty."

Therefore, Jian Yan is still a disciple of the lay school, recites the Ksitigarbha Sutra every day, eats vegetarian food and abstains from killing, recites the Sutra to eliminate karma, releases life and accumulates blessings, but there are still two steps left: repent and resolve grievances, and become a Buddha by reciting the Buddha’s name.

Jian Yan asked Master: "I repent of the evil karma I created in my previous life, but I have no way to repent in this life. How can I become a Buddha by reciting Buddha's name?"

Fajue asked, "Shengyan, what do you think of this tea?"

"My disciple thinks that this tea is good tea, but the aroma of pine smoke is so strong that it almost overwhelms the mellow taste of the tea itself."

Fajue didn't comment, just smiled slightly: "Then you boil another pot of water for Master."

Simply put.A pot of boiling water was placed on the table, but the master did not brew it immediately, but still held a Buddhist bead, isolated everything, and chanted Amitabha Buddha.After chanting ten times, the master put back the rosary beads, picked up the kettle and started brewing.

It is still Lapsang Souchong, and still has the tangy aroma of turpentine, but the taste of the tea is not affected by the aroma at all.

The master asked: "Shengyan, what do you think of the tea for the master?"

"Master's tea is bright red in color and full-bodied in taste. The more you taste it, the sweeter it is. It is completely different from my tea. I don't know why the same water and the same tea have different tastes? Is this also because of my Buddha's blessing?"

"All living beings are blessed by my Buddha. Why are you and me different? It's just that the karma of the world is different, and the retribution is different. The taste of good tea does not lie in the few Buddha's names, but because the Lapsang Souchong is originally a red crushed tea. For tea, the water temperature does not need to be the highest, you have to wait for it to cool from boiling water to the required temperature before brewing, and the soup comes out very quickly. Just now you brewed with boiling water, and the soup was delayed for a while, how much tea tastes At the same time, it is concentrated in the first brew, which will inevitably lose the taste of tea."

Life is nothing more than a cup of tea, a wisp of smoke, random fragrance flies by, only one product is taken, the world tastes tea, the tea cup is the same, but the aftertaste is different.

"Master, you said that the disciple's mortal relationship is not over, but when I wake up, this world is like this. In this illusion temple, there is no desire, no pursuit, no obsession, and no distinction. You said that I can't escape the Buddhist door because the six sense organs are not exhausted, but I can't even remember the origin and extinction, how did I go to the Tao?"

The master still smiled kindly and didn't say much.With a rosary in hand, eyes closed and concentrated, he has meditated again.

It cannot be said, it is wrong to say it.If the love and hate in the world can be wiped out just because of a word of forgetting, how can all living beings suffer so much?Where is the need to endure the pain of reincarnation?
