Chapter 2 Truth and Lies

"This news is still top secret in S.H.I.E.L.D., but you know, I always have a way to find out."

"Yes, I will always know." She repeated slowly, and then, the white-haired old woman smiled, her eyes were full of connivance as if she were treating a child.

Perry has long been used to Margaret Carter, that is, Paige's pampering and pampering.

Tsk, this is a bit awkward, isn't it?

But it is true.

"I don't want to lie to him. But in a way...I didn't lie to him, did I?" Perry asked her tentatively.

Peggy was silent for a moment, and something flashed in her eyes. "From an outsider's perspective, a granddaughter who looks exactly like Perry would be the best. But to Steve, you're Perry Carter. You're the only thing that can't go wrong. You're me. The only person who can make him believe this lie in his absence..."

The remaining half of the sentence was interrupted by a rapid coughing sound, followed by the soft sound of slapping and pouring water.

Peggy took the water glass, she looked at the still youthful and beautiful face in front of her, and suddenly felt a strange feeling in her heart.

Could it be... jealousy?

"Perry, you're luckier than me," she said.

The woman who had been standing in the shadow of the curtain smiled, and she took Peggy's hand.

"But you've waited, Margaret. What about me?" The corners of her eyes brightened, and the smile on her lips faded. "If someone can tell me if it's 70 or 100 years, well, I'll wait. But no one can tell me a definite number, Margaret."

She laughed suddenly, her dark green eyes flickered under the dim yellow light, more like black.

"But no one told me the exact number," she repeated. "Your Steve is back, and I'm still waiting. But Margaret, how long will I have to wait?"

How long do we have to wait?

This is an unsolvable answer, only the unpredictable time knows.

But whether Perry or Peggy, they are not time.

"Take good care of him for me, Perry."

In the meeting of lights and shadows, Perry stood up.She looked at Margaret, who was already an octogenarian, and it was of course an irresistible request.

Of course Perry wouldn't say no.

Because that's what Sergeant Barnes said, too.

"Good afternoon, Margaret." Perry raised the corner of his mouth, "Goodbye, my Aunt Peggy."

So she saw that familiar indulgent smile again.

Perry leaves the nursing home and bumps into Paige's niece Sharon on her way out.Perry's granddaughter and Peggy's niece greeted each other politely, and then went their separate ways.

Perry returned to the United States three years ago, and she found Margaret.

The reunion after 70 years was full of tears and silence. There may be many things that need to be said, but Peggy said that it is good to see each other again.

So everything is just right.

Seventy years ago, Margaret Carter had a sister named Perry.

Seventy years later, Margaret Carter has a granddaughter named Perry.

And right now, Perry is on his way to a lie woven specifically for Captain America Steve Rogers 70 years ago.

To outsiders, Perry's granddaughter played Perry was a brilliant idea.SHIELD's ordinary clerk Perry finally played her due role.

So Mr. Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., thinks so too.He finally asked this little-known clerk a few words, and found that she was surprisingly calm.

"You don't think that everyone who sees the famous Captain America will look like Agent Coulson." When the elevator door opened, Perry asked his biggest boss with a smile.

Fury glanced at this "Miss Carter" with her only eye. She had already put on the military uniform of 70 years ago, and there was an indescribable... harmony all over her body.

Agent Carter was right. No one in the world was more like Perry than Perry's granddaughter.thought Fury.

She takes one last look in the mirror before taking on the role of Perry Carter to meet an old Popsicle who's been sleeping for 70 years.

The woman in the small round mirror has dark green eyes, and the same black hair as the 23-year-old Margaret is tied into the most popular appearance during World War II.

In Perry's hand is a replica of Dan Qi's lipstick, a rare item 70 years ago.

Danqi... Perry blinked vigorously, and he was still in SHIELD in the mirror, not in the barracks 70 years ago.

She carefully applied her lipstick, and Fury nodded for her to go in.

What will you say when you see Steve again?

Good morning Steve?Or follow the script line by line?

Perry felt that it was better to be an obedient ordinary clerk.

She took the steps that belonged to Perry Carter, but couldn't wait for Fury's next instruction.Perry turned and looked back. Fury was pressing the miniature headset with his right hand, frowning.

That's probably not good news. She turned sideways with a puzzled expression.

And she already knew the answer.

The plan to pretend to be Perry was killed in the cradle, but Fury looked at this beauty in military uniform who seemed to have walked out of a poster of the last century, and he suddenly decided to take this clerk to solve the trouble.

Who knows if she will play any wonderful role.As useful as it looks?

Sitting in the S.H.I.E.L.D. car all the way to the busiest street in New York, there are other black cars that look bluffing enough.

Perry was distracted by his incongruous modern attire, and Fury had already got out of the car.

She didn't get instructions, so she could only sit in the car and look at the target that was guarded by layers of guards in the distance - Captain America, while Steve looked blank.

He seemed to say something, and Perry guessed from his mouth that one of the words was... date.

She felt like she couldn't sit still.

"Steve, long time no see."

Steve suddenly heard an all-too-familiar address, and a voice that originally came from 70 years ago.

He looked up, as if he had returned to the era of the military camp in an instant.

"Perry Carter...?" He froze.

The woman in military uniform tilted her head, and she remembered what she said to Margaret this morning.

[I don't want to lie to him.But from a certain point of view... I didn't lie to him, did I? 】

So she looked at Steve Rogers, and her eyes seemed to pass through a long 70 years.

"I'm Perry Carter."

She blinked her eyes, as if in the next second, a young man in military uniform who also came from Brooklyn would appear next to the small and big painter.

He would wear his hat on one side, with a wicked grin on his face.

He would say to himself—

"Just call me Bucky."
