In October 1964, Ennis and Jack were back in Wyoming.

His brother wrote to tell him, first scolded him, and then told him that after he left Alma had married a grocer, and that at the end of September a little girl was born, called little Alma.

Ennis decided to go back and see, and Jack also said he wanted to go back and see his family.

After arriving in Wyoming, the two separated.

Ennis was standing outside Alma's grocery store with a bunch of presents he'd bought from Los Angeles for his little Alma.

"Ennis, Ennis..."

A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind Ennis.

Ennis turned his head and saw Alma standing behind him with a baby in her arms.

"Erma", Ennis looked at Erma with moist eyes, and then he set his gaze on the baby's hand in Erma's hand.

"Little Alma? My brother wrote to tell me you had a girl and I'll come and see you," Ennis said.

Alma didn't know whether Ennis had ever liked herself, but in her heart, Ennis had always been not only her lover, but more like an elder brother who had always taken care of her.

Alma is shocked when Ennis suddenly tells her that he can't marry him because he found out he is gay.

She was indeed frightened, and she even forgot to comfort Ennis with a word or two.

She thought of Ennis a lot in those days, of the time they had grown up together, Ennis protecting her day like a brother, a best lover.

Then she thought of the way Ennis painfully identified himself in front of her.

Alma regretted it, she should have said a few words, she should have said at least one or two words to comfort Ennis.

She has always regretted it.

Alma invited Ennis to their house for dinner, a trace of surprise appeared on Ennis's face, but soon that trace of surprise turned into ecstasy.

Alma's husband was Tommy Howells, whom Ennis had known in a previous life and who was a very nice man.

Ennis could see that they were happy.

After lunch, Tommy kindly reserved a room for Alma and Ennis, and went to the grocery store by himself.

Ennis liked little Alma very much, he hugged and teased little Alma.

Alma watched Ennis loving little Alma, her eyes moistened unconsciously, she looked at Ennis and said, "Tell me, Ennis, how have you been this year?"

Ennis turned around and looked at Alma and said, "Erma, I'm fine. Although it's hard, there's nothing happier than being who you really are."

"I'm sorry, you must have been in pain back then, but I only cared about myself..." Alma looked at Ennis and said.

"No, don't say that, Alma." Ennis put little Alma back in the cradle, he walked up to Alma, opened his hands, "I can hug you, dear Alma ?”

"No, don't say that, Ennis," Alma rushed into Ennis' arms.

They talked a lot that afternoon.

Alma asked Ennis a lot of things, Ennis told Alma about him and Jack, and Elma invited Jack to eat at home tomorrow.

Ennis asked Alma about life now, and then asked a lot about Alma Jr.

Ennis had a nice evening at Alma's.

The next day, Ennis and Jack had a pleasant lunch at Alma's house.
