blue lotus

4. No one sleeps tonight

At night, I lay in bed and couldn't sleep. Outside the window was the bright moonlight, big white clouds like lotus flowers, and the hazy mountain shadow like ink.The night in the mountain village is beautiful, quiet, and terrifyingly quiet.Even the singing of a night owl or the soft chants of crickets are like water bubbles emerging from the underworld, blooming like flowers, exuding the gloomy light of the undead.

I don't know why I have such a strange association, Tongzi Town, the natural scenery like a fairyland, and the people here, with thin bones and smiling faces like skeletons, are clearly hell on earth.

He also remembered the back view of Uncle Jun when he resolutely returned to school on his motorcycle. It was so late, no matter how much I begged, he just smiled miserably, "I'm used to living in school." His expression was like the sun soaked by rain, gloomy, rebellious from the day.Are you used to living in school?Obviously it's just an excuse. I can't live in such a good attic, and I'm willing to travel three miles to live in a school on a mountain road alone?

Could it be that he and my dad have some festivals?

Uncle Jun helped me decorate this bedroom. This is the world he gave me. I lie in the world in his heart, but it is difficult to fall asleep.Scenes during the day came back to my mind. Uncle Jun’s bold character, clean gestures, mountain-like firm forehead, and warm and soft eyes all made my heart flutter.Love at first sight is inevitably exaggerated. I really like it. No matter what the relationship between the two is, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that he made my trip worthwhile.

Uncle Jun is over 30 and still not married. With his straight and burly body and the strength of a tiger, what kind of girl can't be found.According to my mother, there were no less than ten girls introduced to him, and all of them were as beautiful as flowers and jades. He was just like a stone bodhisattva practicing cultivation, standing still and not looking at any of them. And I also noticed that when it came to his personal problems, he was always evasive, saying that he didn't want to get married in this life, he just wanted to be alone. When I heard him say these words himself, I looked into his eyes in amazement. His expression was serious, his attitude was firm, and he was extremely serious.

Maybe it touched the most painful place in his heart, so after everyone fought for the landlord for a while, Uncle Jun got up and went back to school without hesitation.Alas, my military uncle.

Tomorrow my uncle is going to burn incense at Changshou Temple, so naturally I have to go to school to have a look.I don't know what Uncle Jun will look like when he sees us tomorrow.

Just as he was thinking wildly, there were a few miserable cries faintly outside the window, like howling ghosts and wolves, sometimes strong and sometimes weak, like a rice field blown by the wind.

I was so scared that I wrapped myself tightly in the quilt, not daring to listen any more.I was busy sending text messages to my uncle:

"Dad, are you asleep?"

Come back soon,

"Dad can't sleep."

I was about to continue editing text messages when my uncle followed up,

"Son, open the door, I'll sleep with you in the past."

How dare I get up and open the door for him?

"There are ghosts crying in the town, I'm afraid."

No reply.

Suddenly I heard a rattling sound on the door, I stuck my head out of the quilt, listened carefully, and then it turned into a gentle knock on the door.As soon as the door was opened, my uncle squeezed in with his clothes in his arms.

"What's the matter?" The two were lying next to each other under the quilt, and my uncle leaned close to my ear and asked softly.

"Listen carefully, there are really ghosts."

My uncle was more courageous than me, so he listened quietly for a while, "Really, the guest room was sealed too tightly, I really didn't hear it just now. Son, son?"

"Huh?" Lying beside my uncle, my sleepiness came to me immediately.

"Are you willing to leave Dad?"

"My dad won't let me leave him." I replied in a daze.

"I mean, are you willing to leave me?" Uncle seemed really impatient.

"I'm willing." I closed my eyes and murmured, turned over and leaned my face against his chest.

Uncle sighed, "Oh, you boy—" sounded disappointed.

"I lied to you." I couldn't help but burst out laughing, raised my chin, and kissed my uncle gently on the cheek.
