Chapter 32

(32)

"Would you like to play a little longer?"

"No, I'm hungry. Let's go get something to eat first."

Bestella sat alone at the dark dining table, listening to Yeoerman and Ymir playing the piano in the living room while talking and laughing.

Yeorman turned on the light, and saw Bestra sitting there with red and swollen eyes. The woman wasn't as pretty as she had been a few months ago, or rather, she was pretty much what most women of her age, crushed by life, have. Her skin is no longer flimsy, her hair is no longer soft and smooth, and her eyes are no longer as passionate as they used to be.

For some reason, a strange sense of satisfaction rose in Yeorman's heart.

"I often think about, why do we have children? I come to the conclusion that sometimes we suddenly realize that our life has been messed up beyond repair. So we decide to start over, write off the mistakes and start over. So we have children and say to them, 'What I failed at, you can succeed at.'" She looked at Ymir, who was standing next to Yorman, holding his arm, and said every word , "But that's not me, Ymir. I can't wait to see, you are broken by life, and then you have nothing. Your beauty will eventually grow old, just like me. By that time, people around you will not see won't even look at you."

Ymir looked at his mother coldly, as if he was looking at a lunatic who was about to be imprisoned in a mental hospital.

"Ymir, how did you become like this? Shouldn't you love me?" Bestella sobbed softly.

She stood up and walked upstairs to the bedroom. She paused as she passed Yorman.

"Please come up to my room," she said, "I admire your acting skills."

Seeing Ymir's worried gaze, Yeorman kissed him on the forehead.

"Wait for me to come back. You go and pack your luggage first."
