Star Trek
Chapter 29
ma.Especially Akihi, changed from the silly way of following Kirk's butt in the past, and has completely stuck with the little girl.
Kirk was literally dumbfounded. He couldn't understand why his family had accepted the idea of having an extra granddaughter so naturally and so quickly—shouldn't the lost one be sent to a child shelter, or even contact Pike to give Spock a call? It's like someone has cast a spell on them, and Kirk, dumbfounded, is the odd one.
After dinner, he sat on the sofa, looked at Mima who was having fun with Akihi on the other side, and called Professor Spock for the eighth time, but still no one answered. This is not good.
"Mima."
"What is it, Ko-mekh?"
"Did your father—Professor Spock send you here?"
"indeed."
"Did he say when he would pick you up?"
"No."
"Then can you contact him?"
"Negative, Ko-mekh, Sa-mekh's emergency cannot contact him."
"What emergency?"
Mima shrugged, which made her look more like an Earth kid than a Vulcan.
Later, before nine o'clock to be precise, the little one was driven to bed by the conscientious "grandmother".After Winona and George left arm in arm, Kirk went to say goodnight to her.
He sat down beside the bed: "Are you afraid of sleeping alone?"
The little girl hugged her Mr. Moon and shook her head. There was a slight commotion on the other side of the bed, and Akihi jumped onto the bed lightly, laying down at Mima's feet.
"Well, you're not alone now." Kirk rubbed the dog. "Little traitor."
Mima stared at him with her eyes open, the blanket pulled up to her chin, she didn't speak, the blue that was so similar to himself made Kirk think of another question that he never had time to really ask: "Why did you call me Ko-mekh ?Now I know what it means, kid, and we're not doing any drama." The reason he didn't want Winona and George to go to school was simply because he didn't want the hero parents to cause a commotion at the academy.
For some unknown reason, that shade of blue looks kind of sad. Kirk wondered if he'd said something wrong about poking a kid's heart; kids were always hard to understand. He opened his mouth, and the communicator rang first. Kirk took it out: "Wow." He picked it up, and the screen pointed at the little girl, "Your real dad."
"...Well, okay, it's okay. Then I'll wait for you to pick her up, she's fine at my house. Okay, happy new year, professor, goodbye."
Until Kirk hangs up the call in a daze, he still doesn't really understand why Spock sent his daughter here and why he left, maybe the Vulcans know too well how to blur the point they want to blur.
Mima kept staring at him, listening quietly during their call, not saying a word to her father (apparently, Kirk forgot about that too), and not asking any questions after the call.Somehow, it seemed to Kirk that the little guy was used to being left suddenly. He thought he should say something, but the girl told him softly: "I'm going to sleep, Ko-mekh, good night."
She closed her eyes and hugged Mr. Moon tightly. Kirk tossed her forehead to one side, and tucked her in the corners of the bed like her mother used to do to herself: "Good night, weird little one."
He would go to his room, open the PADD, and do something he had been preparing for a long time—hack into the Starfleet Academy's official Level [-] database to find Professor Spock.

Kirk used all the means at his disposal, including asking Uhura (he knew how much this girl admired Professor Spock), Sulu, a student who didn't gossip but knew all the gossip like a mystery, and even General Pike. All the databases on Spock, the result is still nothing. All he knew was that Spock had come to teach at Starfleet Academy last year, and that he had a recommendation letter from the Vulcan Presbyterian Church and an invitation letter from the Federation, but no one knew about the rest.Maybe he can find loopholes in the data on Vulcan, but it's really not practical to check across the galaxy, not to mention that he doesn't have the slightest authority there.
It's not that he didn't think about asking Mima directly, but Kirk thought about it, what can a five-year-old know? When I was five years old, I would just hide behind George and attack Sam, or play dirty and be ordered by Winona to take a shower.
On the fourth night of Mima's arrival, he had a dream. In the dream, he had himself, Spock, and even McCoy, Sulu, Uhura... They were bigger than now, in a starship, the one he was on the river Binzhen grew up watching the most beautiful enterprise account built in the Federation, but there they were not friendly as old friends: he was pinned on the console by Spock, his neck was stuck, and his face was blue.Just when he was almost out of breath and finally suffocated himself, Kirk sat up suddenly, gasping for breath and covered in cold sweat, this was the first time he had personally experienced the power of a Vulcan - it turned out that those rumors were not joke.
What's this? Why was Spock so cold and cruel to him? What did he do wrong? Is this just a dream?Or a... omen?
It seems so real, as if it really happened.
Maybe...in a different time and space, it really exists.
He didn't mention this dream to anyone, and when he got up the next day, Kirk used the excuse that he had something to do at school, and took Mima back to San Francisco. The little girl kept her face pressed against the glass looking out the window during the shuttle, and asked four times when she would be able to go back to see Akihi (the answer was a day later, when they returned to Iowa).
When they got out of the car, they realized that it was snowing in San Francisco, but no one had an umbrella. Mima looked curiously at these rustling and falling silvery whites. It doesn't snow often in the desert, and there are no time machines running around. She was born on Christmas Eve, but she rarely sees snow. Kirk helped Mima put her hat on, and wanted to entrust her to McCoy temporarily: according to the agreement with his ex-wife, the daughter should stay with her mother during the holidays this year, so the distressed dad must have nothing to do in school - Kirk thought so.
However, the content of the communication was a bit unexpected, McCoy actually stayed with his wife and children, although the tone was edgy, but Kirk could hear the anxiety that couldn't be concealed.
……Wow. Kirk blinked at the hung up phone, new year, new weather, maybe another good thing is coming for his friend.
"Well, it seems that you have to follow me in person." Kirk stuffed the communicator into his bag, exhaled whitely, and looked down at the little girl, "Do you think I should leave you at home to play with Akihi?" ?”
"I prefer to be with you." Mima replied seriously.A snowflake fell on the tip of her nose.
When Kirk used his "relationship" with his children to board the Brave, he couldn't help but sigh that his father's pass was so easy to use—he wouldn't blame himself for sneaking it away from home .He found out from the college's database that Professor Sullivan, who used to teach astrophysics, is now serving as a scientific officer here, and he is also one of the few people who has contact with Professor Spock. Perhaps this will be an unexpected breakthrough. The only trouble was that the Brave was leaving in an hour, so he had limited time and had to find Professor Sullivan as soon as possible.
Even though the Vulcan was the reason he was on this ship, it doesn't mean he expected to see him here—Kirk stared at Spock down the corridor, momentarily at a loss for a reason Why would he take Spock to "entrust" his daughter here at this time.
Spock was wearing a blue uniform, exactly the same one that Kirk had tried to murder himself in that dream. The Vulcan handed the PADD to the crew members who were discussing with him next to him, and after explaining something, he walked towards them.
"...Jim." He didn't call him a student, didn't ask him anything, just looked at Mima, and the little girl waved at him, as if this was an unfamiliar stranger. Spock looked back at him again. "This is not a place to talk about matters."
Kirk also looked down at Mima who was tugging at the hem of his shirt, took a deep breath, and looked straight into Spock's brown eyes with more complicated emotions than many humans hide: "Tell me—who the hell are you?"
"Why do you have such a question?"
They walked the streets in the evening, each with a hot drink, Kirk's coffee and Spock's tea, Mi
