Chapter 12 Potions Lesson

The stairs at Hogwarts are like the stairs at Jacqueline's house, changing their positions from time to time. And those ghosts also like to jump out from behind the door to scare people, especially Peeves. And the course itself is enough of a headache.

Every Thursday night, they go to the observatory to observe the starry sky with a telescope, and learn the names of different stars and the trajectories of planets.

"It's as if they can tell me about my future." After returning from her first stargazing class, Jacqueline complained to her roommate Pansy.Pansy just gave her a blank look, and continued to study the image in his hand.

Three times a week, they were led by a squat witch named Sprout to the greenhouse behind the castle to study herbology, learn how to cultivate these exotic plants and fungi and understand their uses.

Probably the most annoying class was History of Magic, the only one taught by a ghost.During the class, Professor Binns kept talking in a monotonous voice, and the students scribbled notes, and Malfoy simply fell asleep.

Malfoy originally planned to "borrow" the notes of the Hufflepuffs who were in their class after class, but he completely gave up after being rejected and said that I could tutor you after class.

The magician was taught by Professor Flitwick, a sorcerer who was so small that he had to stand on a stack of books to reach the desk during class.

Professor McGonagall was different from all of them.Jacqueline was right. She is strict, intelligent, and head of Gryffindor. As soon as they sat down for their first class, she gave them a big blow.

"Transfiguration is the most complicated and dangerous spell you have in your Hogwarts class," she said. "Anyone who tries to misbehave in my class, I ask him out and never let him in again. I But I warned you."

She then turned her lectern into a pig and back again. The students were all fascinated and wanted to start learning right away, but they soon realized that it would take a long time to turn furniture into animals. After they had jotted down a mountain of intricate notes, she gave them each a match and began to make them try to become a needle.

A class that is really somewhat anticipated is Defense Against the Dark Arts. But Quirrell taught this lesson almost became a joke. The classroom where he taught was filled with the smell of garlic, which everyone said was meant to drive away a vampire he met in Romania, fearing that the vampire would come back and get him.He told them that his scarf had been a gift from an African prince who thanked him for helping him free himself from the revenants, but no one could really believe his story.

If he could drive away the vampire once, why couldn't he drive away the second time?Isn't it said that what makes perfect? Moreover, even if it is really a gift from an African prince, is it necessary to be around all day long?As if he was trying to hide something.

Slytherin students' favorite class has to be Potions.Potions class is held in an underground classroom, which is colder than the main building of the castle above. Most importantly, the teacher is the dean of Slytherin, their "respected" snake king Professor Snape. And they were in class with Gryffindor.

Snape, like Flitwick, picked up the roster as soon as he was in class, and like Flitwick, always stopped when Harry's name was called.

"Oh, yes," he whispered, "Harry Potter, this is our new and famous character."

At this time, the Slytherin students put their hands to their mouths and giggled.Jacqueline rolled her eyes at them helplessly, please tell me, where is the joke?

Snape looked up at the class after the roll call, eyes as dark as Hagrid's but without Hagrid's warmth. His eyes are cold and empty, making you think of two dark tunnels.

"You have come here to learn the delicate science and exacting art of potion-making," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, but every word caught him.Like Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape has the intimidating power to bring order to the classroom with little effort.

"Many of you won't believe it's magic, as there's no foolish wand waving here. I don't expect you to really appreciate the beauty of that simmering cauldron with its white smoke and fragrance, You don't really understand the liquid that flows into people's veins, the magical power that makes people's hearts sway and their minds blur. I can teach you how to increase your reputation, brew glory, and even prevent death, but there must be one thing. Only the kind of stupid fools who come here will do."

Of course, before that, don't forget the process of cutting herbs that can make people cut off their hands, and from time to time, you have to guard against your cauldron being blown.

After he finished his short opening remarks, the class fell silent.Malfoy sat upright, and Hermione Granger almost moved to the edge of the chair, leaning forward, looking eager to prove that she wasn't a dumbass.

"Potter!" said Snape suddenly, "what would I get if I added powdered daffodil root to an infusion of wormwood?"

Harry froze, and Hermione threw her arms high in the air.

"I don't know, sir," said Harry.

Snape curled his lips contemptuously.

"Tsk, tsk, it seems that fame doesn't mean everything."

Snape deliberately ignored Hermione's raised arm.

"Let's try again. Potter, if I asked you to find me a bezoar, where would you go?"

Hermione kept her hands up as high as she could without leaving her seat, and Harry continued to be unable to answer.

Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, all three of them were shaking with laughter.

"I don't know, sir."

"I don't think you've read a single book before term started, have you, Potter?"

Snape still ignored Hermione's trembling arm. "Potter, then tell me what is the difference between the boat-shaped aconite and the wolfsbane aconite." At this moment, Hermione stood up, her hand stretched straight to the ceiling of the dungeon.Jacqueline really, really, admires her courage.

"I don't know," whispered Harry, "but I think Hermione knows the answer, so why don't you ask her?"

Several students laughed out loud.Jacqueline glared viciously at Malfoy, who was smiling like a fool, and Malfoy raised an eyebrow at her, "If you want to know, just answer it.

"Professor," Jacqueline raised her hand before Professor Snape went mad, "can you give me a chance?"

Snape glanced at Harry coldly, and then his tone became even colder. "You know, Miss Graham?"

From his tone, Jacqueline knew that if she answered wrongly, her future life would be like hell.

"I want to try."

"Okay." Snape walked back to the podium, "Then you tell Mr. Potter."

"Yes, Professor." Jacqueline stood up. "Daffodil root powder and wormwood can be mixed together to make a powerful sleeping pill, which is a dose of life and death water. Bezoar is a kind of medicine taken from the stomach of a cow." Stones have a strong detoxification effect. As for the boat-shaped aconitum and chamaejasma aconitum, they are the same plant, and they are collectively called aconitum."

"Exactly." Snape nodded slightly, and suddenly shouted at the class, "Got it, why don't you write it all down?"

Then there was a sudden rustling of quills and parchment.Amid the din, Snape said, "Potter, Gryffindor will take one point for contradicting the teacher. Five points for Slytherin, Graham."

Potions class continued, and Snape divided them into pairs and instructed them to mix and concoct a simple potion for scabies.Snape dragged his long black cloak around the classroom, watching them weigh dried nettles and crush snake fangs. Almost all the students were criticized, except Malfoy, who seemed to be the only one spared. Foo was Snape's preferred student.

As for Jacqueline, she kind of hated herself for being so rash, because Snape's hooked nose was about to stick into her cauldron. "Do you think you have special rights, Miss Graham?" Snape tapped Jacqueline's cauldron, "Or, you can't read."

"This is what my mother wants to buy." Jacqueline replied tremblingly, while carefully adding porcupine quills into her crucible, which was much better than others, and the color of the liquid instantly became transparent.

"As a Graham," Snape waved his wand, and Jacqueline's cauldron was emptied immediately, "you barely pass. Slytherin plus 5 points." Snape lowered his voice again, "If you make the slightest mistake," he didn't finish, turning to look at Malfoy.Jacqueline shook her body, she finally understood why Snape was called the Snake King.

Quickly packing up her things, Jacqueline was about to retreat from the classroom when she caught sight of Neville about to put the porcupine quills directly on the cooking pot.Jacqueline glanced over at Snape, who was demonstrating how perfectly Malfoy cooked the tentacled slug, and slipped behind Neville.

"Take the pot off the heat and put the porcupine quills in, Neville," Jacqueline said softly. "I don't want to see anyone get hurt because of you."

Hearing this, Neville's hands trembled, and Seamus hurriedly removed the cauldron before Neville could put the porcupine quill in.

"Add 5 points to Slytherin." Snape's cold voice came from the front, Jacqueline looked up, and the way Professor Snape looked at her made her feel like she was being watched.

Because there was no class in the afternoon, Jacqueline went back to the common room to write a letter to her parents, introducing her time since school started. It's just that Malfoy and Pansy interrupted the letter halfway through.

"Jacqueline," Malfoy lay down on the sofa as soon as he returned to the common room, Goyle and Calaboo stood behind him like bodyguards, and Pansy also walked behind him, "What did you just do?" What's going on?"

"Which one just now?" Jacqueline continued writing the letter without raising her head.

"Master Malfoy is asking you, why did you help Gryffindor just now?" Pansy asked, looking at his nails.

"Help Gryffindor?" Jacqueline raised her eyebrows, recalling what happened just now, "Because 'helping' them is good." Jacqueline put down the pen in her hand, "Please allow me to remind you , Master Malfoy, just now I scored 15 points in the Potions class. So, are you sure I am helping Gryffindor?" Jacqueline went straight to the owl shed after she finished speaking.
