Rest In A Demon’s Embrace

Luo Xiao glanced at the dead beast. The snake-like body was twitching, and its blood was flowing freely. The icicles were slowly melting due to the warm blood, and the dense metallic scent was shrouding Luo Xiao, but he felt no disgust nor pity for the beast.

Instead, he was frowning and looking at Jiang Yao. They had two purposes by coming to the Beast Ridge; one was to get their hands on a Moon Anise for Jiang Yao so that his realm could have a minor breakthrough, but also because of Luo Xiao wanting to learn how to control his abilities, solidify his foundations, and advance his rank.

However, it seemed that Jiang Yao was pampering him too much. Although he had allowed Luo Xiao to deal with the mercenaries and bandits they had encountered when in the caravan, now that they had arrived at the Beast Ridge, he was simply too protective.

It was as if he feared that Luo Xiao would be ripped to shreds in a moment, or did he think that he was too weak?

Luo Xiao's heart sank, and his mood plummeted. He knew that he was overthinking, but he could not help but fear that Jiang Yao would always pamper him.

Luo Xiao's dream was to stand side by side with Jiang Yao, but as long as he was being pampered like this, he would never advance.

Although Luo Xiao understood Jiang Yao's worries, he was still rather frustrated. He wanted to show that he was no longer the weak Luo Xiao, who was always sickly and needed others' defense.

It never occurred to him that Luo Xiao was unhappy with his actions. He had moved for the sake of protecting him, shouldn't he feel warm and fluffy inside?

Luo Xiao sighed deeply. He understood that Jiang Yao was a very arrogant young man. He was not used to accommodating others, and everything followed his thoughts.

Luo Xiao would also rarely go against his wishes, not because of the Soul Contract that they shared, but because he truly loved the demon prince.

However, Luo Xiao might seem weak and easily bullied, but in fact, his personality was too stubborn.

Jiang Yao loved Luo Xiao. He loved every part of him, but he was not aware of all the facets of his personality.

He felt nervous, and he really had to use his entire self-control to meet Luo Xiao's eyes, but what he saw made his heart drop and break.

He saw sadness and disappointment in Luo Xiao's eyes.

Although Jiang Yao was arrogant, he was unwilling to harm Luo Xiao, so he took a step back.

"What did I do wrong?" he asked with a low voice, and if one listened closely, they could hear a tremble within.

Luo Xiao released a breath of relief. He felt like crying suddenly. Jiang Yao was able to sense his emotions so quickly, and there was indeed no doubt that this man loved him.

Although he was arrogant, he was not against lowering himself for Luo Xiao, and this humbling manner made Luo Xiao feel so much sadness and warmth that his eyes turned red.

Jiang Yao was shocked when he saw the unshed tears, and his eyes widened in shock. He took two big strides and dragged Luo Xiao into a warm embrace.

"Xiaoxiao, don't cry," he said as he hugged the younger man into his embrace.

"Yao, I want to improve and stand side by side with you," Luo Xiao said, but he soon found that Jiang Yao had not reacted to the rest of his words; all he had heard was that Luo Xiao called him 'Yao'.

Usually, he would call him 'Jiang Yao', but it seemed that he was much more intimate now. There was something indescribable in his heart.

He wanted nothing more than to lower his head and plant his lips upon those seductive small red petal-like lips of Luo Xiao, but he held himself back.

"Yao, I want to stand by your side," Luo Xiao said again, stressing his words, and his eyes were full of determination.

It was not before now that Jiang Yao truly heard his words, and his brows furrowed. What did Luo Xiao mean?
