Fu Huai’an had spent too much time buying the pads for her. It was because he called Bai Jinyu to ask about things to take note of during a lady’s period. Despite being a doctor, Bai Jinyu was no expert in the field and had to consult his sister before returning the call.

Lin Nuan was shocked. She nodded afterward. “Yes…”

Every girl had to have red sugar in her home.

“Go take a shower!” Fu Huai’an slowly removed his jacket and hung it on the hook of the shelf.

“Alright…”

After she went back to her room to get clean clothes to change into, she heard Fu Huai’an light up the stove in the kitchen. She couldn’t help but feel slightly nervous since it was her first time showering with a man in her house.

Usually, on the first day of her period, the amount wasn’t that much. Her stomach would experience mild pain, and a warm shower could alleviate it.

She took a quick shower with Fu Huai’an in her house. After drying her hair, she tied it into a low ponytail. She then used one of her pads and came out wearing her light blue pajamas.

In the living room, Fu Huai’an was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed. He had already taken off his formal vest and had a half-finished cigarette in his mouth. He was replying to an email on his phone and was still holding onto his lighter in one hand.

Lin Nuan took a plastic cup and made a temporary “ashtray” out of it by pouring a little water inside like the last time Lin Chen came and did so. She then placed it on the table facing Fu Huai’an.

He glanced at the cup and her fair hands and arms. He slowly removed the cigarette from his mouth and asked in the plainest manner, “Another man came to your house?”

Lin Nuan stood up, tucked her loose strands of hair behind her ear, and nodded. “My brother came.”

Fu Huai’an looked up and said, “There’s ginger sugar soup in the pot. You should drink some while I return an email.”

“Do you need the computer?”

Lin Nuan couldn’t help but ask as he frowned at his phone.

He nodded as she brought the laptop out of her room and passed it to him.

In the cozy and delicately decorated apartment, Fu Huai’an replied to his email at the kitchen table under the soft light. Lin Nuan held a warm cup of the soup in the kitchen as she took small sips from it—the atmosphere had never been more peaceful there.

She glanced towards Fu Huai’an through the steam and noticed his dark eye circles were especially evident because of his fatigue.

He must have been tired after rushing to Jincheng the previous day and then all the way back.

She put down the drink in her hands and rinsed the cup. She then made a cup of red tea and gently placed it by his hand without disturbing him. As she was about to leave, Fu Huai’an suddenly grabbed her thin wrist as he caressed her fair, smooth skin with his thumb. He kept his eyes fixed on the laptop screen.

“What do you want to know about me?” Fu Huai’an asked suddenly.

“Huh?” Lin Nuan was puzzled.

He looked back and fixed his eyes on her pretty features and signaled her to look at the screen.

The search history on the screen showed Fu Huai’an’s name in the second row.

Lin Nuan blushed immediately and felt hot like a potato. She explained sheepishly, “I just… felt you were slightly different from the time you appeared in Iraq. So I wanted to check if you had army training experience.”

Fu Huai’an pulled her towards him, and all she could see were his handsome features. She tried to avoid his gaze with a shy look in her eyes.
