I would rather betray the gods

Chapter 14 What's that master thief up to?

Warm moments are always too short.

After eating the dumplings her mother made, Youzi was about to return to her home in the city.

Regardless of his own ambitions or the major crises to come, he was under immense pressure and had to work tirelessly.

As expected, the moment he opened the car door, the passenger seat was filled with all sorts of daily necessities that his mother had prepared for him, making it seem as if he were about to embark on a long journey.

This is the essence of a mother's love, so he would gladly accept it even if he didn't need most of it.

There were plenty of valuables in the bags, but the phone was nowhere to be found. Yuzi searched inside and out.

"Mom, did you see my phone? It was just sitting here." He pointed at the watch and questioned her.

"No, I would never touch your phone without permission." Yuzu's mom shook her head.

Yuzu remembered very clearly that she had placed it on top, and since her mother hadn't touched it, it must have been someone else.

So he glanced at his older sister standing to the side.

That's right, his older sister is fiddling with his phone, I don't know what.

"Mom! Look, my sister is messing with my phone again!" He didn't dare confront his sister directly, so he went to his mother to complain.

"Why do you keep taking his phone? Give it back."

Yuzu's mother's tone was more of a helplessness. These two sisters have been so troublesome since they were little. She originally thought they would be better when they grew up, but they haven't changed even after they got married.

Since Mom had spoken, Yuzu continued fiddling with her phone for a little while longer before tossing it to Yuzu in the driver's seat.

It turns out that Sister Yuzu was downloading some social apps for Yuzu's otherwise monotonous phone.

Before leaving, she couldn't resist mocking Youzi, telling her to stop spending all her time reading news and browsing forums, and that if she couldn't find someone suitable in real life, she should just browse online.

These days, even real monks use the apps she just downloaded. If he doesn't keep up with the times, he'll be worse than a real monk, and he deserves to be single.

On the other hand, Yuzu was basically immune to her older sister's sarcastic remarks and scoffed at her sister's insistence on installing various apps on her phone.

Out of politeness, he patiently waited for his older sister to finish speaking before stepping on the gas and driving away...

Upon returning to her residence in L City, the first thing Yuzu did was turn on her computer and start writing.

This one thing took up most of his life.

The month he spent in the second layer of heaven provided him with countless inspirations, and he had to hurry up and write them down.

The crisp sound of keyboard typing, once it begins, flows endlessly like a river flowing into the sea.

He only stopped when he felt tired.

He glanced at the time and was surprised to find that it was already eight o'clock in the evening!

He then realized that the world outside the window had transformed from daytime to a neon-lit world, while inside the room, only the faint glow of the computer screen remained.

That's how life is when you're alone; no matter how engrossed you are in your work, no one will ever remind you to eat or anything like that.

A strange sense of loneliness suddenly welled up in his heart.

But it's okay, Yuzu is used to it. She just let out a helpless sigh and then got up to turn on the light.

The nights in late spring were still a bit chilly, but the brightly lit room instantly warmed it up several degrees.

Once again, Yuzu, feeling lonely, washed her face, then grabbed a coat from the hanger and went out to buy food.

Walking along the food street, the rich, lively atmosphere always fills you with a sense of warmth.

"Haven't seen you in a while, boss! Where have you been making your fortune?" When Yuzu walked up to a food stall, the stall owner greeted her warmly.

Yuzu really doesn't deserve the title of "boss." Apart from getting a "god king" for free, he's just an ordinary person in real life.

He swallowed his polite words, and just smiled shyly, saying, "The usual, a crepe with two eggs."

"Alright! One egg pancake, two eggs on it!" the vendor called out as he skillfully prepared the pancake.

Standing to the side, enjoying the long-lost fragrance, the pomelo was thoroughly enjoying itself.

Ok?

Suddenly, he smelled an unusual aura.

At first, he hesitated slightly, after all, this was the place where he had lived for many years and there had never been any strange occurrences.

But as the feeling grew stronger, he realized that the fluctuation he had just experienced was the power of the stars.

Who and what?

Driven by intense curiosity, the pomelo ran toward the source of the ripples.

When the stall owner took out the finished pancakes, he was stunned to find that his regular customer had vanished without a trace...

Pedestrians hurried by the street corner.

Only one young man with a tattoo on his wrist sat idly on a round stone stool.

The fluctuations originated from this young man, the so-called superhuman.

Yuzi pretended to be a passerby and sat on another stone stool a few meters away, observing secretly.

He got so angry after watching for only a short while that he wanted to curse.

It turns out this young man was using his supernatural abilities to steal!

Whenever a target passed by the young man, he would steal their valuables with lightning speed, leaving the unfortunate passersby completely unaware.

It's worth mentioning that one little girl, who seemed to have a strong sixth sense, instinctively touched her handbag after the cash was taken from it, and even slung it over her other shoulder. But that was all she did, and she didn't realize that her valuables had been stolen.

But her subconscious avoidance of risk makes one marvel at how amazing humans are, especially women.

Yuzu watched in amazement.

He had never realized before that this world was different from what he knew, whether it was for ordinary people or people with superpowers!

Just then, a middle-aged man walked over, scratching the back of his head, and asked Youzi, "Young man, how long have you been sitting here? Have you noticed someone found a cell phone nearby?"

"No... what's your phone number? I'll call it for you." Yuzu pretended to be confused, deliberately speaking loudly.

He noticed that the young thief next door was looking in his direction guiltily.

After the uncle finished giving his phone number, Youzi added, "Oh, by the way, the guy next door arrived earlier than me, why don't you ask him?"

He thought that once the call was connected, the uncle standing next to the young man would hear the phone ring directly.

The man did as instructed, but the result was negative; the phone on the other end also indicated that it was switched off after dialing.

It was clear that the young man had removed the card after committing the theft.

Yuzu had originally planned to tease him a bit more, but now she had to come clean up the mess early, saying to the uncle, "If he doesn't know, just ask him about his backpack!"

The young man was stunned. He clearly didn't think anyone could figure out what he had done.

After being reminded like this, the uncle immediately understood, so he grabbed the young man's backpack tightly and questioned him about whether he had taken his phone.

Before he could figure out what was going on, he stumbled and fell to the ground. When he turned around, the young man had vanished.

His arm was bleeding from the fall, but his face showed more astonishment, as if he had seen a ghost. What kind of speed was that?

Yuzu stood up, cursing under her breath, and stared intently into the distance.

He didn't expect the young man to be so ruthless. In order to break free from the uncle's restraints, he actually used his superhuman speed to kick the man down and then ran away.

If he had the ability, he could have just pried open the old man's fingers! Stealing someone's things and then angrily kicking them—it's utterly despicable...
