Love Apartment: Yifei is my junior aunt
Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 49
Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 49
That's right, this book will be available today.
I probably didn't know this much earlier than you are reading this, but there's nothing I can do about it; this is what happens to books that don't perform well.
Adhering to the established practice of writing something after a book is published, I'm writing my first-ever post-publication reflection.
Logically, I should first try to elicit sympathy and ask for subscriptions. While there is indeed sympathy to be evoked, I don't really like that kind of approach. Besides, readers don't need to excessively sympathize with the author's miserable life while reading this book.
So let's briefly talk about some topics related to this book, which are things I've always wanted to discuss with everyone.
First, let's talk about the motivation behind this book. Actually, I already had a vague outline of this story when I watched Love Apartment, but I was busy reading and trying to win over my girlfriend, so I didn't have time to write it.
Even now, without the dual pressures of academics and romance, I've fallen into a rather long period of confusion in my life and still can't find my direction.
I told myself that I still have a considerable amount of free time before the end of the year, so since I still have time, I should do something that I've always liked to do, something I've always wanted to do, but have never done before.
Anyway, life can't get any worse than it is now, and no matter how bad my writing is, I'll still be my only reader.
Does the above sound familiar?
Indeed, part of Nanfeng's character is derived from this.
Next, let's talk about the story and the main characters of this book. Actually, the story of this book is quite simple. It is about a group of friends with different personalities who gradually move towards a happy ending while playing around. You could also say it is a story of friends evolving into lovers and family.
So what kind of protagonist should I create for such a story?
He shouldn't be a time traveler. In other types of stories, being a time traveler might be a very useful identity, but in this kind of story, the identity of a time traveler feels somewhat distant and indifferent.
Love Apartment is an absurd comedy. As for you, my protagonist, you shouldn't be standing on stage with a script in your hand, only changing what you want to change.
You should put down the script and become part of the comedy. Whether you're dazzling enough or not, at least you won't be a lonely spectator on stage.
Moreover, whether it's the love-hate relationship between Meijia and Ziqiao, the unwillingness of Zeng Xiaoxian and Yifei to back down, or the difference in class concepts between Zhanbo and Wanyu, these things cannot be resolved in a short time; they require sufficient time and patience.
So, specifically regarding the protagonist's character design, what kind of personality should he have?
He has to be funny, kind, and eye-catching enough so that he doesn't seem out of place in the funny environment of the apartment. Secondly, he has to spend enough time in the apartment so that he can naturally participate in each story. Finally, he can't be too perfect or too normal, otherwise there's not much to write about.
Just like Guan Gu and Curry, Curry was introduced too early because of a momentary lapse of judgment. As a result, she was still a minor, so many storylines could not be developed, and she could only temporarily play the role of a tool.
Guan Gu is the same. His character is quite normal in Love Apartment. Apart from being too obsessed with certain things and having minor flaws like being jealous, there is really no particularly exciting backstory for Guan Gu before Tang Youyou appeared.
We can only temporarily make do with these two as tools.
Once the basic structure of his personality and character is mostly complete, I'll add a logically coherent backstory to flesh out this extremely awkward personality and identity.
This is the tragic backstory you see now. Why is the backstory so tragic?
Of course, it's because the author is brain-dead. The prototype of this background story, like this story, existed vaguely in the distant past. Back then, the author could still be considered a child, or a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) literary youth.
Please don't be too harsh on the backstory that a silly little boy came up with; at least he was genuinely trying to think about it carefully in the past.
But why do I think this kind of story full of youthful pain can still be used now? It's because it can give the protagonist the most crucial thing: growth.
The protagonist helps everyone in the Love Apartment grow, and in turn, everyone in the apartment helps him let go of his past. Mutual help and give-and-take create a family atmosphere, rather than the protagonist's one-sided, well-intentioned sacrifice.
Moreover, if a character has his own past and present, and constantly draws strength from the present to overcome the past and move towards the future, then he has grown and gained a soul.
This is just a small thought of mine, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. If there is, it's just that I'm not good enough at writing it.
If you think my background story design is bad, you can give your opinions and have your arguments, as long as you don't use abusive language.
Now let's talk about the female lead. It's settled, officially confirmed: Yu Mo.
I originally had quite a few lines in mind, but as I wrote, only one remained. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, because Nanfeng's character is inherently set up so that he can't possibly like two people.
It's quite remarkable that the order of appearance isn't just important in life, but also in novels.
I think my romantic storylines are pretty good. At least I'm quite satisfied with the current romantic storylines between Meijia and Ziqiao, and Zhanbo and Wanyu.
So, we can also look forward to the main characters' romantic storyline.
Now that we've discussed the creative motivations of the male and female leads, let's talk about other things related to their journey.
As the author has written this far, there is only one feeling.
tired!
As we all know, humorous articles are the most difficult type of writing, especially when the author is not a particularly funny person.
The author seems to be constantly thinking about how to make the story funny, but hasn't really had a proper laugh yet.
The main problem is that I still don't know if the funny scenes I wrote are funny enough, and you guys don't give me any feedback!
Enraged!!!
The kind you can't coax! (If you're willing to subscribe, I'd still be happy to give these old folks a smile.)
Moreover, although the author enjoys writing novels, most of his previous ideas remained in his mind. Now that he has picked up a pen to write, he realizes just how difficult it is to write a novel.
This book has been written so far, including the wedding chapter, the moving chapter, the military alliance chapter, the "You Are Not a Fish" chapter, the Harley Quinn chapter, and the one I'm writing now...
I haven't decided on a title yet. I'll summarize it by picking the most upvoted title from the comments after I finish writing this section.
All of the author's previous drafts ended with the Military Alliance arc. Starting with the Zi Fei Yu arc, the author began writing and releasing the content as it came up. So you can see that starting with the Zi Fei Yu arc, the author fell into a rhythm of irregular update times and increasingly unrestrained content.
The original content in each chapter is increasing, and the tricks are getting more and more complicated. By the fifth chapter, they were already burning the table. Who knows what I'm going to do next?
Of course, this doesn't mean I'm completely abandoning the TV series. Firstly, some plot points are really important to certain characters, such as Valentine's Day in the first season. Secondly, some plot points are popular, such as the Forbidden City and the time travel when the internet is disconnected.
Don't worry that I'm just copying the TV show plot exactly... You've read this far, you're not really worried about that, are you?
No way, really?
Since everyone has read this far, you should know that I've now started using a plot from a TV series as a starting point, and then completely letting loose with the plot development.
I think this is very interesting, and I can also copy some dialogues to start this way, saving me some brain cells.
just kidding.
The biggest problem with fan fiction is that the scope of the original story must be carefully managed; otherwise, some people will want to read it, while others will not want to read it at all.
However, some commenters said that I skipped through too much of the original plot. I guess that guy skipped the parts that I skipped to, and he just happened to be reading the parts where I was lazy in writing the original plot.
cry.
In short, I feel I've made great progress after finishing these sixty chapters. Although I'm still rubbish compared to many writers, I'm constantly analyzing the works of great authors and thinking about how to write better. I think there's still room for improvement.
Let's all look forward to this.
Alright, our chat time is almost over. The main thing is that if my author's post about going public is longer than the chapter I actually publish, I'll lose face!
Let me say a few more words.
One issue is subscriptions. All I can say is that everyone should support the author as much as possible. No one writes a book without wanting to make money, especially since the author is a poor person. If they can earn some extra pocket money, they can help ease the burden on their family.
If any brothers want to support this book but don't have much money, you can check out the welfare center on the Qidian app. The chapter cards you get every day after reading should be enough to support your subscription.
This book isn't doing well. It only got a contract after it was over 100,000 words long, and even the trial promotion didn't work. Today it only has a little over 2,000 favorites. I don't know how many favorites or how many subscribers it will have after it's finished.
One issue is the reader group. It's simple: trying to create a reader group without achieving any success is just humiliating. Once I've achieved enough and the opportunity is right, I might start a reader group to chat with everyone. After all, there are some brothers I've wanted to talk to for a long time.
Without everyone's support and encouragement, Sweet Potato Pigeon wouldn't have been able to persevere until now.
Another issue is updates. The author is a complete novice when it comes to typing, so the writing speed is extremely slow. However, the author will try to update more frequently after the book is published, so you can rest assured.
Next is the thank-you section. Since the word count is almost exceeding the main text, I'll talk about this part separately tomorrow or the day after. I also need to organize the brothers I need to thank.
Finally, I shamelessly ask for a first subscription.
Your friend, Sweet Potato Pigeon, is extremely grateful.
What should I write here?
I might update some side stories later, such as the cast of Love Apartment playing tabletop role-playing games together, which feels like time travel due to a network outage, as well as the six nights Nanfeng and Yumo spent together, the childhood stories of each character, and the childhood stories of their children.
That depends on the results.
If I am fortunate enough to become a writer who can make money, as the first book on this account, I will come back from time to time to continue writing the side stories of this book, whenever I have inspiration.
