Jujutsu Kaisen: I have everything I need now!
Chapter 56: Dividing the Army into Three Routes
Tokyo Higher Education Institute, conference room.
The atmosphere was unusually heavy.
This place is less of a conference room and more of a combat command center. The walls are covered with maps of Tokyo and its surrounding areas, densely marked with symbols.
At one end of the long table, assistant supervisor Kiyotaka Ijichi was adjusting the projector, sweating profusely. His hands were trembling slightly, clearly indicating that his colleague who had turned into a monster last night had left him with considerable psychological trauma.
"Cough cough."
"Everyone, please look."
Ichiji cleared his throat and pointed to a photo on the screen.
It was a blurry screenshot from a security camera, taken late at night. The photo showed a black shadow, and although it was only for a fleeting moment, everyone recognized its distinctive, enormous wings.
"The 'Night Bat General' that attacked the college last night didn't completely disappear after its retreat." Ijichi pushed up his glasses, his voice dry. "According to 'Window's' observations, it seems to be moving westward. And... there seems to be something we're looking for along its path."
The scene changed, and three different map markers appeared on the screen.
These are the three locations we identified as potential sites for the appearance of the 'masks', based on feedback from Lord Tengen's barrier and information provided by Miss Mai.
Upon hearing this, everyone focused their attention on the three red dots.
"The first one is an abandoned cargo ship in Tokyo Bay, where there have been frequent rumors of ghosts lately, with workers claiming to have seen a huge dark shadow."
"The second one is near Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto. Although it is a popular tourist destination, recently the forest behind it has been shrouded in a persistent black fog."
"The third one..." Ijichi paused, his expression somewhat strange, "is in an old amusement park in Yokohama. It's been abandoned for ten years and is a famous haunted adventure destination."
After the introductions were finished, the meeting room fell into a brief silence.
Hisahito Itadori sat in a chair, pen in hand, his brow furrowed as he stared at the map, seemingly pondering some profound mathematical problem. Megumi Fushiguro calmly flipped through the documents in his hand.
"We need to split into three groups," Maki broke the silence first, clutching the cursed longsword with sharp eyes. "That guy, Rōsō, is definitely looking for these things too. We have to be faster than him."
"That's right."
Finally, Gojo Satoru, who had been sitting in the main seat with his legs crossed, spoke. He was twirling a marker in his hand, and his pale blue eyes swept over everyone present.
"Last night's attack was just the beginning."
Satoru Gojo stood up, walked to the map, and drew a circle around Tokyo Bay with a marker.
"Tokyo Bay is the closest, but it could also be a trap. After all, Tōsō's thoughts are always unpredictable." He turned to Itadori, Fushiguro, and Kugizaki. "Yūjin, Megumi, and Yūta, you lead the teams here. The main force of the Tokyo school must ensure the safety of this area."
"Yes!" Itadori and Fushiguro nodded in response. Otsuko Yuuta, carrying his sword pouch, nodded gently but firmly.
"Then there's Kyoto." Gojo Satoru's pen moved to the left side of the map. "The magical energy fluctuations near Kinkaku-ji are very obscure; it's possible a top-tier magical spirit is at work. Todo, is it alright to leave this area to your Kyoto branch?"
Despite the battle the previous night, Toudou Aoi was still shirtless, revealing his well-defined muscles, and laughed loudly, "Kyoto was always our territory!"
Kamo Noriyuki closed his eyes helplessly: "Todo, put your clothes on. This is a meeting room."
"It's alright, it's alright, you're full of energy!" Gojo Satoru waved his hand with a smile, then his eyes became slightly serious. "But be careful, since we're in Kyoto, there might still be some remnants of the conservative faction causing trouble. If you encounter any obstacles, don't hesitate to take action."
"Understood." Nishimiya Momo nodded earnestly, holding the broom.
After assigning the two groups of people, Gojo Satoru's gaze fell on the last marker—the old amusement park in Yokohama.
"As for this last place..."
"I'll go."
A cold voice interrupted Gojo Satoru's words.
Mayi sat in the corner, with no documents in front of her, only a gleaming revolver. She looked up and stared directly at Gojo Satoru.
"I'll go to Yokohama alone."
These words immediately caused a stir in the conference room.
"Mai, are you serious?" Maki frowned, her tone stern. "Although you did very well last night, that was because...that person was helping you. If you encounter an enemy of Special Grade or higher, or multiple Shadow Legions, it would be too dangerous for you to go alone."
"Yeah, Makoto-senpai," Itadori said worriedly, "That amusement park sounds really creepy. How about I go with you?"
"No need." Zhenyi shook her head, her body leaning slightly to the left as if she were leaning on something. "More people would just get in the way. Besides, I'm not 'alone'."
As she spoke, she stretched out her left hand and gently patted the air around her.
"Right, Saku?"
Everyone's eyes instinctively turned to the empty seat next to Zhenyi.
There was no one there. Only dust particles floated in the sunlight. Although last night's battle had changed everyone's attitude somewhat, it was ultimately limited.
Standing beside Zhenyi, December 1st looked at the room full of sorcerers staring at each other and sighed helplessly.
"Tell them not to look at me like that," December Shuo complained. "Besides, Yokohama has a complex terrain, suitable for small-scale infiltration. Too many people will only alert them."
As Zhenyi listened to the voice beside her, a slight smile appeared on her lips. She relayed the message: "He said the terrain there is complex and suitable for infiltration. If you go, you'll only cause a big commotion and alert the enemy."
Gojo Satoru looked at Mayi, or rather, at the wisp of air beside Mayi.
"Since Mai has said so," Gojo Satoru suddenly laughed, capped the marker, and tossed it into the trash can with a flick of his wrist. "Then it's settled. Mai, you...you guys are in charge of Yokohama. Maki and the other students from the Tokyo campus will stay behind."
"Gojo-sensei!" Maki was about to say something more.
"Don't worry, Maki," Gojo Satoru interrupted her. "Mai is very strong right now. Besides, if that 'Ghost' is really like he was last night, Mai is actually the safest."
As he spoke, he waved his hand at the air around Zhenyi.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Ghost. Please keep an eye on my students for me."
December 1st rolled his eyes at Gojo Satoru's smug grin.
"You really believe me?"
End of the meeting.
The crowd quickly dispersed, each preparing to depart.
Zhenyi walked out of the conference room, the wind in the corridor ruffling the hem of her trench coat. She walked steadily, the sound of her footsteps echoing crisply on the wooden floor.
"Why Yokohama?" Mai asked softly. "Tokyo Bay is clearly the place where General Night Bat is most likely to appear."
"intuition."
"Huh?" Zhenyi raised an eyebrow.
"Don't forget, I have special senses." December pointed to his head. "Tokyo Bay is indeed suspicious, but that reaction is too abnormal, like deliberately shouting 'I'm here.' And Yokohama..."
His voice turned somber.
"It's too quiet over there. Often, the most dangerous things are hidden in the quiet."
Zhenyi nodded thoughtfully.
"Besides," December suddenly laughed, leaning close to May's ear, "think about it, what is Yokohama? Chinatown, Ferris wheel, red brick warehouses... Since it's a business trip, of course we should choose a place with a good view, just like a date."
Zhenyi stopped abruptly. Her ears turned red at a visible speed.
"Who...who wants to go on a date with you!" she hissed through gritted teeth, reaching out to pinch the December 1st beside her hard.
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" December 1st cried out dramatically.
Seeing Zhenyi's embarrassed yet somewhat excited expression, December's smile deepened.
