Wasteland Lord: Starting from Thirty Days to Live
Chapter 85 Amnesia?
"You don't understand at all!"
As Lapland spoke, he spread his arms out, protecting the unconscious Lina behind him like a chick.
It was so anxious that it paced around in circles, seemingly wanting to explain, but not knowing where to begin.
So he chose a more direct approach. Suddenly, he held two crossbows in front of his chest, pulled his wings back forcefully, and exerted all his strength as if he were holding something in.
Vittorio cautiously took a step back, thinking it was about to enlarge.
But then I thought, how much harm could such a small thing possibly cause?
Just as he was thinking this, Lapland on the other side finally finished its preparations and released what it had been holding back.
Transparent ripples spread out from its body, like the scorching heat of summer air. The ripples were fast and impossible to defend against. Vittorio couldn't dodge in time and the ripples passed right through his body.
He had expected it to harm his body, but it didn't. Instead, in the next second, he suddenly felt an emotion flowing into his brain.
An extreme emotion mixed with anger, resentment, fear, pleading, self-harm, and so on.
The emotion was so intense that Vittorio had never experienced anything like it in his entire life, so much so that he instinctively clutched his head, somewhat dazed.
The emotion came quickly and went quickly. Almost two seconds later, the intense emotion dissipated from his body, leaving only an aftershock, as if it had just been an illusion.
Vittorio was full of questions and was about to ask something when Eileen stepped forward from behind him and answered his doubts.
"Nature spirits, a magical creature that has gone extinct, possessed the ability to sense and release the emotions of all things."
"This creature often inhabits forests and is regarded as the guardian of children. It is mischievous and lively, and often sneaks into villages to play pranks."
"In the past, some people tried to capture these harmless and cute little creatures and sell them to nobles as playthings, but most of them starved to death, so very few people have ever seen a living elf."
"And after the cataclysm, these magical creatures that live in the forest suffered an even greater impact."
"According to the book, this creature should have been extinct."
After Eileen finished speaking, her usually cold and stone-like face inadvertently revealed a hint of pride and confidence, as if she were waiting for someone to praise her.
Isolde was the kind of person who was very generous with his praise for those he admired, so he patted Eileen on the shoulder and said, "Learned."
Vittorio understood the little sprite's thinking; it seemed to be trying to awaken its empathy through the emotions emanating from Lina, thereby protecting Lina from being killed by itself.
"But if I don't kill her today, who can guarantee she won't cause me trouble in the future?"
The little elf blushed, as if he wanted to say something, but couldn't find a reason to convince anyone.
In the end, all he could say was, "I can take her away and never come back here!"
And as if to fit the occasion, Lina on the ground suddenly began to groan, seemingly showing signs of waking up.
Vittorio and his group immediately took a step back warily, staring intently at Lina on the ground.
However, Lina's first words after opening her eyes surprised everyone present.
"Who are you? Why are you all staring at me? Ouch... my head hurts so much, did someone hit me on the head?"
Vittorio looked left, right, up, and down.
They called in a bunch of people to check, and finally used the system to confirm Lina's condition.
Finally, he came to a conclusion.
Lina has lost her memory.
"Is it really that much of a coincidence? Even the most melodramatic screenwriter couldn't come up with such a melodramatic plot." Vittorio muttered to himself.
"What are you talking about, pretty boy?" Lina looked at Vittorio muttering to himself, feeling a little uncomfortable, and the annoying words just came out of her mouth.
Seeing this situation, Vittorio's initial thought of simply tossing the person away somewhere far away suddenly vanished.
This guy caused him so much trouble, he lost his memory, and his personality is still so awful.
How can Vittorio quell his anger if he doesn't teach her a lesson?
Moreover, although she has amnesia now, there's no guarantee that her mind will clear up again after a while.
Keeping her under my watchful eye allows me to check on her condition at any time.
then……
Vittorio cleared his throat, coughed twice, and spoke to Lina in full view of everyone.
"Watch your words, maid."
Everyone was stunned, including Lina herself.
Lina pointed to herself, then to Vittorio, as if to ask, "Who are you calling?"
Vittorio, however, remained expressionless and showed no sign of panic, nodding firmly.
"I'm talking about you, maid Lina. Although you were accidentally caught in the crossfire during the battle and suffered a head injury, that's no reason for you to disobey your master."
"I...I...I..."
Lina said "I" several times in disbelief, and was just about to say something in rebuttal when...
Suddenly, a small thing hit her head like a cannonball, smashing it so hard that her head swelled up.
Lina looked up and saw a little elf standing with his hands on his hips, glaring at her angrily.
"That's right! You're this gentleman's maid. Apologize to him right now!"
Lina stared at the little elf with suspicion, questioning the credibility of what it was saying.
But for some reason, staring at this little thing in front of her, she had a familiar feeling, as if she had known him for many years.
Because of this subconscious impulse, she ultimately chose to believe what Vittorio was about to say.
"Okay, I'm sorry."
In mid-air, the little elf Lappland, who had just been standing fiercely with his hands on his hips, breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this scene and wiped away imaginary sweat from his brow.
This wasn't something Lapland said casually; it was because it realized that the only way for Lina to survive was to acknowledge her identity as a maid.
Only by making Lina temporarily forget her identity can she avoid posing a threat to the man in front of her, and only then will the man not kill her.
Although Lapland was just an innocent fairy, she understood this simple truth.
That's why Lapland went along with Vittorio and continued the conversation.
To its surprise, Lina's mind wasn't very sharp after losing her memory, and her temper became much more docile.
Lina had just bowed her head, looking dazed and confused, and said, "I'm sorry."
"Say sorry? You actually said sorry?"
Lapra muttered to himself in disbelief; the moment those three words were uttered, he almost couldn't hold back anymore.
You should know that this little devil can kill, mock, and play pranks on people, but she will never apologize.
Getting those three words out of her mouth is harder than climbing to heaven.
"If amnesia can make people more polite, then amnesia does have its advantages."
"What did you say?" Lina asked, still somewhat dazed.
Lapland quickly scratched his head and chuckled.
"It's nothing."
Lapland thought of the little devil in front of him from the past, who kept mocking him and occasionally tormenting him.
Although it won't cause any real harm to me, the mental humiliation is something I'll never forget.
Thinking of this, Lapland became even more determined to let Lina continue to suffer from amnesia.
This was all to save her life, and it was definitely not a matter of settling personal scores!
Thinking this through, Lapland nodded to convince himself.
