Wasteland Lord: Starting from Thirty Days to Live

Chapter 50 Divine Soldiers Descend from the Sky

Serena entered the village through the gap. She breathed a sigh of relief, hoping to find a house and use the building to keep out Venom and the others behind her.

Secondly, she noticed the huge pottery bottle in the center of the kiln.

She stepped forward to examine the patterns on the jar closely, marveling at their beauty. However, as she watched, the patterns suddenly cracked inch by inch, and then a strange sound came from inside the jar, as if something was about to break out of it.

Suddenly, a huge, jelly-like body burst out of the jar and expanded like a balloon.

Serena looked up and watched as the shadow on her face grew larger and larger until it completely covered her.

The refugees standing at the back all looked up at the gigantic monster that suddenly emerged from the jar.

This monster is five meters tall, with a dark brown body and a body like a slime. However, its skin is not as smooth as a slime's; instead, many "tentacles" extend from it.

The tentacles resembled countless legs of a millipede, or like granulation tissue growing from a wound.

But when they looked closer, they realized that they were not "tentacles" at all, but human arms reaching out from them, trying in vain to grab something.

Within the monstrous slime-like body, one can clearly see the human bodies sealed within. They appear to have drowned in this translucent, gelatinous sea, still retaining their expressions before death, their bodies half-melted, their ribs clearly visible.

"Gro...m..."

The monster emerged from the jar, straightened up, and suddenly stretched its massive body, letting out a huge roar that sounded like the word "Grom," casting a shadow over Serena, who was already too terrified to move.

Then it lowered its head, its gaze fixed on Serena—if it had eyes.

But Serena's intuition told her that the monster was watching her.

Serena, trembling, could only slowly extend her two hands and clasp them together.

His eyebrows furrowed, but a smile played on his lips—an expression that conveyed a sense of relief and fear, as well as a kind of martyrdom.

Serena probably had a mental breakdown at that moment.

This is the consequence of the tremendous changes she has experienced in her family in recent days, the tragic deaths of her relatives, and being forced to take on a heavy burden that she is completely incapable of handling.

At that moment, she even somewhat looked forward to death.

"A sweet death... Father, Mother, Brother... I'm coming..."

"Gro...m..."

Grom didn't understand what this tiny, weak, ant-like human beneath him was doing.

Because Grom's core is the corpses and resentment of all the villagers in the clay village, his intelligence is roughly equivalent to that of a berserk slime.

Grom didn't know what human despair was; all it knew was to crush and absorb...

Grom suddenly stretched out a newly formed arm and slammed it down on Serena on the ground.

Serena's eyes remained fixed, resigned to her fate; her only action was to witness her own death.

Just as Serena was in despair and stood motionless, a person on a rooftop not far away raised a bow.

The bow emitted a faint purple light. As the bowman gently pulled it, the pulleys on both sides rotated, and the cold glint of the arrow tip was already aimed at the fully extended grom on the ground.

As Gram emerged from the terracotta bottle, the large terracotta bottle beneath him had lost its unbreakable "toughness" status.

Hold your breath, breathe, aim...

As Grom raised his arm, a sharp glint of light shot out from the bow, whistling through the air, and aimed precisely at the terracotta pot.

Almost instantly, the arrow struck its target with pinpoint accuracy.

The earthenware pot beneath Grom made a cracking sound.

"Gro...m?"

Grom looked down at himself in confusion, but before he could understand, another volley of arrows rained down from the rooftop.

The arrows accurately struck other vulnerable spots on the pottery bottle, embedding themselves in them at varying depths.

Although the subsequent arrows did not penetrate the pottery bottle as powerfully as the first arrow, they all caused varying degrees of damage to it.

The cracking sound grew louder and louder, gradually expanding until it could no longer be ignored, and then reached a certain critical point.

With a "crack," the entire ceramic vase beneath Grom shattered into countless fragments in an instant, like glass broken by a marble.

Grom's center of gravity plummeted, and his massive, bloated body collapsed into a puddle of mud on the ground.

Grom can be considered a giant, enhanced version of the small pottery monsters in town.

But unlike them, Grom doesn't die immediately even though breaking the bottle will cause him great damage.

Edmund, standing on the roof, did not expect him to die immediately.

He calmly fired the first arrow, perfectly executing the first step of the battle plan.

He then meticulously carried out the second step according to the established battle plan.

"Change the oil, load the arrows, and fire!"

The dozen or so archers standing on the rooftop uniformly took out specially made bone arrowheads from their quivers, poured opaque resin on them, and lit them with tinderboxes.

Then launch.

Serena, who was already kneeling on the ground, suddenly stopped moving for some reason, even though the monster that could have killed her in an instant had stopped.

For some unknown reason, the pottery jar beneath the monster suddenly shattered.

All she knew was that she saw fire that day.

The red rockets, like shooting stars, trailed beautiful red tails as they fell to the ground like rain.

None of the arrows missed; they all struck the monster squarely. The monster's body, upon encountering the flames, ignited like hot oil, instantly bursting into flames.

Serena felt her face burning red, even a little hot, but she didn't blink and didn't want to look away from the scene.

She felt that the fire was so clear and beautiful, as if it were burning away all the filth.

Just as she was lost in thought, she suddenly heard a dignified middle-aged male voice coming from a second-floor house not far away.

"Decoy unit, ground division two, all forces attack! Slay Grom!"

Suddenly, soldiers dressed in strange white armor that Serena had never seen before emerged from all directions. They were fully armed and carried spears, while the soldiers in front carried large wooden shields.

They didn't spare a single glance for the terrified, wide-eyed refugees around them, but instead, like resolute weapons, marched in neat rows toward Grom in the center.

Serena didn't realize this until one of the queues brushed past her.

She was saved!

They were saved by heavenly soldiers who seemed to be sent by angels!
