Chapter 13 Catapult Start
Charles's face turned even paler, and his finger trembled as he pointed at Kiki.
"Art?! Aesthetics?! Kiki Wrench! You're not relocating, you're destroying! The shockwave will tear you and all of us apart first, and even if we manage to survive, all that will be left behind are burning logs and corpses!"
Qiqi argued back, sticking out her own reasoning.
"Do you really think your colossal teleportation array is feasible? Not only does it cost an astronomical sum, but if it could teleport such a large forest, humanity would have already teleported its capital to the dragon's lair, and along with ten thousand adventurers, wiped out your home base!"
"You..." Charles was so angry he almost fainted.
Ian and Lilith listened silently to this absurd debate.
It requires a traditional magic circle that is so complex it's practically impossible to move.
One of them wants to use a super explosion to blow the forest to smithereens.
No wonder Charles looked so exhausted and lifeless.
Ian saw Kiki waving the Overload Explosion rune in her hand and spoke again before they completely started fighting.
"Butler Charles, Miss Kiki, perhaps we can try a different approach. How about a transplant?"
Charles took a deep breath to calm his blood pressure, which had just spiked because of Kiki, and explained to Ian, "The soil in Sweet Forest is very special. Transplanted plants will slowly degenerate into ordinary species."
Ian continued with his idea: "What if we divided the Sweet Forest into pieces and then teleported them away?"
"Why don't I blast Sweet Forest into pieces!" Kiki suddenly leaned over and interjected.
"Shut up!" Ian and Charles roared at the same time.
Charles turned back and continued, "The Sweet Forest has a special magical network. Even if it's divided along with the soil, the ecosystem on it will die very quickly. And if it's not pieced back together according to the network during the reconstruction, the ecological death cannot be stopped."
Ian was a little confused, but he still caught the key point: "Magic...channels?"
The vampire rubbed his throbbing temples and said patiently, "If we could draw the accurate magical energy pathways, we could follow them to successfully reassemble the divided forest. But even the elemental sprites, who are most sensitive to magic, cannot accurately analyze the elusive magical energy pathways, so... it's simply impossible."
Upon hearing the word "analysis," Ian naturally thought of his talent, "analysis."
Perhaps I could try to find the magic pathways myself?
Even if it's truly impossible to achieve, it doesn't matter. After all, I'm not the project manager, and I don't need to be responsible for success or failure.
Ian decided to go to the forest first; just looking at a bunch of blueprints wouldn't be enough.
He turned to Charles: "In short, we need to understand the forest first. I need the most detailed maps, and... to see it in person."
Charles looked at Ian, his contempt not completely gone.
But at least this slime came up with a different idea than "explosion," which at least sounds like a human being (even though it came from a slime).
Moreover, it's always good to do a field survey. Even if this slime can't help, sending him to the edge of the forest is better than letting him stay in the camp and be tricked by Kiki into doing explosive experiments.
Oh, right! Kiki... instead of letting this explosive maniac stay in the camp and confront her, why not let her go with the slime to conduct an on-site investigation?
Thinking of this, Charles sighed in resignation: "I can give you the map and basic information. But, Lord Ian, please be careful not to provoke the half-elves. Lilith, you... protect him."
Looking at Lilith, who seemed on the verge of fainting, he spoke the last part of his sentence without much confidence.
"Also," Charles added, his voice weary but tinged with a warning, "bring Kiki along. She might be able to offer some advice from a craftsman's perspective."
Charles waved his hand, signaling the clerk beside him to fetch the documents, while he slumped back into his chair, continuing his mental exhaustion as he stared at the despairing blueprints.
Kiki leaned closer to Ian, her eyes sparkling behind her goggles: "You want to cut it into pieces? Sounds like a lot of cutting work! My newly improved 'Magic Explosion Ray' might come in handy! Although it's still a bit prone to overload and explosion..."
Ian: "...Don't blow it up."
Lilith, forcing herself to straighten up, whispered to Ian, "Should I first infiltrate the forest to clear obstacles and draw a map of the shadows?"
Seeing that she wasn't doing well, and that it was already late, Ian said, "No, tomorrow, we'll go together. You, me, and..."
He glanced at Kiki, who was pondering what other exciting and interesting things there were besides the explosive rays.
"We might need someone skilled in magical engineering, but we don't really need explosions..."
The on-site survey team was decided so hastily.
Exhausted Charles didn't pay much attention to it; his mind was still preoccupied with the giant teleportation array.
In his view, Ian's job would be to simply keep Kiki from blowing up the camp.
......
......
As night deepened, the noise of the camp gradually subsided, with only the crackling of the campfire in front of us.
The moment Lilith was free to move around, she started munching on several buckets of berries. She ate them until she fell asleep, still holding half a bucket of berries in her arms.
The forest was very cool at night, and the chill made Ian's jelly-like body shrink.
I don't know if the Shadow Fairy will catch a cold, so I'll make sure it doesn't affect my plans for the next day.
Ian thoughtfully conjured a small magical tentacle blanket for Lilith, hoping that Lilith would understand his good intentions when she woke up the next day.
In the evening, Charles handed Ian a thick parchment map, which marked the basic terrain and the approximate area where the half-elves were active.
He was also given several "beast-repelling incense" for temporarily dispelling low-level monsters and a magic whistle that could release a distress signal when in danger.
And he repeatedly instructed her to take Kiki out for as long as possible, treating her like a novice adventurer about to embark on a harmless picnic.
Ian put away the map in front of him.
Ian had roughly memorized the map and marked the planned route for tomorrow.
Although slimes don't sleep, Ian still planned to let his consciousness rest for a while.
Just before shutting down the computer, Ian opened his control panel and took a look.
Suddenly, I noticed that there was an extra skill on the panel.
【Launch Launch LV.1】
"?"
Ian found it strange that some skills hadn't been included in [Mind Manifestation].
He experimented a little and found that the skill did not use any magic at all; it was simply a matter of compressing the body and then jumping out.
Isn't that a big jump?
He roughly figured it out: mind manifestation can only contain magic, while [launch start] is a combat skill, belonging to the physical skill category.
It seems that acquiring this skill is quite simple; it's just a matter of changing the way you move from rolling around to hopping around, and you gain this martial art.
However, his current role is that of a mage, and this crude, primitive slime fighting style is not what he wants.
Thinking of this, Ian enveloped himself in shadow magic and sank into the shadows.
Hibernation.
