Three Kingdoms: Conquer Wu from Maicheng with Cavalry and Swords, Don't Fall Behind
Chapter 80: Zhou Tai, it feels so good.
Horses thundered and infantry roared as they charged straight into battle. The Jiangdong youths, their faces flushed, steeled themselves and charged forward.
"Why am I so unlucky to have to join the army? I'm just trying to make a living, why is life so hard?"
"Monster, what a monster! How did I have to run into one? Damn this chaotic world, is my life no better than this?"
"We are encountering some absurdity, losing a war we should have won..."
The elite troops of Jiangdong, each carrying a long spear and a large shield, advanced in a winding line, their spears and halberds held high and level.
Two banners fluttered in the wind, one inscribed with "Wu" and the other with "Zhu," uniting the hearts of the scholars.
"You got killed so many times when you were outnumbered by 10,000? White-robed guy, do you even know how to play?!" Qi Ye was a little disappointed when he didn't see the Grand Commander of Jiangdong appear.
The Martial Saint, wielding his blade with imposing might, charged straight into the enemy ranks. In an instant, blood rained down, filling the sky with overwhelming power, grandeur, and unparalleled might. He pushed forward with a domineering stroke, cleaving a man's head in two, red and white blood gushing out.
A thief's face slid off, revealing stark white bones, his eyeballs dangling precariously from his cheek.
The Jiangdong troops were a chaotic mix of soldiers and warriors, their weapons clashing and their vision obscured. Those in the rear could not see what was ahead, and faint, speckled drops of blood splattered on their faces, as light as falling snowflakes.
Scenes of carnage swirled, were imagined, and pieced together in their minds. Their breathing became increasingly rapid, and the fear hidden deep within human instincts involuntarily surfaced.
Hearing the cries for reinforcements, they were pushed to the edge and forward by an inexplicable force, a surging, tumultuous sea of people.
Layer upon layer, pushing and shoving each other, bodies clashing and clanging against shields and weapons.
These are hardly reinforcements; they're clearly being used as expendable troops to allow some unscrupulous individuals to reap the benefits.
Kill one man, take one leg, and you'll be appointed general and ennobled. Born into poverty, wanting to defy fate but not relying on martial prowess, he can only resort to crooked schemes. He trades the lives of his brothers and comrades for wealth and glory.
The Martial Saint's killing intent was solemn, his blade flashing, his aura domineering, illuminating the entire camp. With another sweeping slash, several bandits' bellies were ripped open, their intestines spilling onto the ground, steam rising, and severed limbs flying up and falling back down.
Heaven and earth became a blood furnace, and the flesh and blood of the enemy piled up like fuel, constantly boiling.
The heavy footsteps and labored breathing of the Jiangdong youths mingled together. They ran over the corpses, stepping on them without hesitation. Whenever they encountered a huddled figure, whether feigning death or truly grievously wounded, they would all stomp on it.
The cracking sound of bone breaking was muffled, and the screams of agony abruptly ended.
They felt neither shame nor cruelty, as if extinguishing a tiny ember. On the battlefield, the mind has limited capacity; there's no time for such complexities. If you don't step forward, you'll be stepped on by those behind.
"Hahaha, the men of Jiangdong are truly brave." Zhou Tai was deeply fascinated by this feeling, like a hunting dog smelling carrion.
One man with a sword can shatter mountains and destroy cities, but so what? One hand cannot hold up the sky.
In warfare, a single tree cannot form a forest, and a lone peak cannot reach the sky. True strength is never about standing alone, but about understanding how to connect with the masses.
Zhou Tai was filled with surging courage and felt that he could fight another eight hundred rounds.
"General, the Grand Commander orders you to retreat and preserve the flame of martial prowess in Jiangdong," the messenger urged loudly.
"Nonsense! Such a good opportunity to destroy Guan Yu! You tell me to retreat, what are you really up to!" Zhou Tai knew that the Jiangdong soldiers were all in a state of high tension. If he retreated rashly, their morale would collapse.
All the previous efforts would be in vain. The souls of the fallen soldiers would be restless. He was not afraid of death, but of achieving nothing.
"This is bad," Qi Ye muttered, sensing things were about to go wrong. He had kept Zhou Tai at bay for so long precisely because he was afraid of scaring the rats and hadn't dared to approach him easily. Now, several riders surrounded Zhou Tai, removing his bloodied and mangled armor, as if they were about to mount their horses and flee.
Who can bear this?
The enemy army was a vast, continuous mass, and if Zhou Tai managed to escape by blending into the crowd, there would be no way to catch him.
Uncle Ji is still tied up.
The Martial Saint, true to his nature, unleashed a powerful slash that forced back the villains. His body was shrouded in a layer of bloodthirsty aura, hazy and indistinct, like a deity descending to earth, an aura of righteous indignation piercing through the ranks.
"If you have the guts, attack my weakest point. What kind of behavior is running away?" Qi Ye stopped killing in place and manipulated the Martial Saint to press down on Zhou Tai.
"General, let's go!" A fierce bandit from the mountains charged forward with a rattan shield, rushing to Zhou Tai's side in the blink of an eye.
This fellow was half a head taller than Guan Yu, with a fierce look on his face. He yelled and slammed his ring-pommel sword against his shield with a loud clang, then lunged forward menacingly!
"Selling the first item by inserting a bid."
The Martial Saint did not dodge, but instead lowered his waist and stood on his horse, slashing down with his battle blade as if splitting the heavens and earth.
The mountain bandits, along with their shields, were cleaved in two on the spot!
Guan Yu charged forward, forcefully taking down Zhou Tai. He cleaved through the wall of men with each stroke, stepping on their slippery entrails, carving a bloody path through their screams.
The thief's severed arm was still twitching when his head flew off with a "whoosh" and rolled back to his feet.
Zhu Huan immediately drew his bow and fired three arrows in quick succession, aiming straight for the Martial Saint's throat: "You traitor Guan, how dare you be so arrogant!"
Ding Feng and Xu Sheng flanked from both sides, their arrows gleaming in the campfire, attempting to block their path.
With a whoosh, the Martial Saint dodged the stray arrows to the side, then leaped up and slashed diagonally with his sword.
"To flee would mean all previous efforts are wasted, and that is not the way of Zhou Youping."
Freed from the constraints of his heavy armor, Zhou Tai struggled to mount his tall warhorse with the help of two men. His confidants shouted "Retreat!" but he paid no heed, spurring his horse and forcing it to move forward.
The horses' hooves thundered, and Zhou Tai, riding with momentum, raised his thirty-pound shield to meet the attack, smashing it down so hard that it shattered the Martial Saint's ring-pommel sword. He laughed loudly, his arrogance boundless.
"How dare you!" Qi Ye was caught off guard and, having not infused his weapon with his own energy, immediately suffered the loss of the durability of an ordinary weapon.
The Martial Saint kicked out a shallow pit with his feet, and his spine transformed into a great dragon, channeling all his power from bottom to top into his right arm. He then leaped forward and swung at Zhou Tai with the force of thunder, violent and unstoppable.
"Huh?!" Zhou Tai didn't expect the Martial Saint to be so decisive, able to fly so high and so far, and he didn't react at all.
The Martial Saint's punch pierced through the bandit general's chest, splattering blood and flesh, scattering bone fragments, and causing half of his body to explode.
"Is it... not strong enough?" Zhou Tai's eyes were filled with deep fear, and his consciousness gradually drifted away.
Those from Jiangdong who witnessed the bloody scene were all terrified, as if they had seen a ghost.
The Martial Saint's might is terrifying!
Zhou Tai was known for his bravery and unparalleled fighting prowess, making him the strongest warrior in Jiangdong.
Unexpectedly, he was smashed to pieces with a single punch, blood raining down and scattering all over the ground.
The crowd stared at the mangled, half-eaten corpse, their shivers of fear washing over them, their hearts pounding with unease.
Time and space seemed to stand still, all things seemed to freeze, and heaven and earth wept together.
"I don't know why, but the feel of my hands suddenly improved." Qi Ye's pores relaxed.
The Martial Saint single-handedly blocked the Jiangdong camp, launching a relentless offensive; he was truly a peerless hero.
"This is outrageous!" Zhu Huan held the bow, his mind reeling, and dared not make a move.
"You could have walked, Zhou Youping, why did you do this? Is your reputation really that important?" Ding Feng spurred his horse to create distance and urged his soldiers forward.
"History will remember our loyalty and bravery today," Xu Sheng sighed, comforting himself.
Looking at the battle situation, Lü Meng's previous worries subsided with Zhou Tai's death, and he became increasingly calm, as if there was nothing to fear anymore.
"Give the order to prepare for death."
The confidant turned and left, his eyes filled with deep regret and fear.
