Chapter 98 Giant Beast

Blue Crystal Mountains.

The biting wind cut into the skin of every soldier, while snowflakes swept in from the horizon, obscuring every inch of their vision.

The faint light of the blue crystal tree was reduced to a tiny outline in the snow curtain, becoming distant and blurry, only occasionally trembling with the roar of artillery fire, like a candle flame flickering in the dead of night.

The sounds of battle echoed through the valley, shaking the snow off the blue crystal trees and mixing it with the bloodstains on the ground, turning it into filthy dark red soil.

One by one, warm bodies fell, quickly buried by the snow, their bodies growing cold. The soldiers' cries and roars were scattered by the gale, leaving only faint echoes.

Until, an explosion resounded in the middle of the valley.

boom-!!!

Hundreds of soldiers stopped moving and looked at the crack that had suddenly appeared in the ground.

Black smoke billowed from the crack, torn apart by the cold wind, and mixed into the heavy snow. The ground sank, and the people fighting nearby almost fell into it.

Then, a figure climbed up.

He was covered in snow, obscuring his face. The longsword in his hand gleamed with silver light, and the javelin on his back was wrapped with crimson runes. Scales could be faintly seen shimmering beneath his tattered black robe.

The air felt slightly stagnant.

The soldiers on both sides stared at the unknown man, trying to figure out why he was there and what was going on below.

In the brief silence, only the faint sound of snowflakes falling to the ground could be heard.

A few seconds later, it's unclear who made the first move.

The screams ripped through the silence, and a cloud of blood mist exploded on the snow, only to be quickly dispersed by the gale, splashing onto the faces of the surrounding soldiers and bringing them a little warmth.

As if awakened by the scream, the two groups of soldiers clashed again with a loud crash, their blades emitting sharp explosions and their spells bursting with dazzling light.

Black armor, red robes, gale, snowflakes—the sounds in the valley were noisy and chaotic, and the lingering smell of blood permeated the air, lingering at Roland's nose.

Whoosh!

The arrow shot towards him, but its clear trajectory was interrupted by the gale, and it landed on the snow beside him, bursting into purple flames and burning.

A tall, thin Imperial soldier charged at him, raising his heavy hammer high with both hands, the spikes on the dark red hammer tip still stained with the blood of the previous victim.

Roland, of course, would not surrender without a fight.

Although he was slightly surprised that this was a battlefield, the magical energy he sensed was not strong, and he could still cope with the current situation.

The silver blade flashed, leaving a trail of crimson blood in the air. He didn't even glance at the corpse frozen in place, and walked forward.

Two soldiers surrounded him from the left and right, their faces still showing the satisfaction of killing, but they were immediately slashed in the throat by a sword tip as bright as moonlight, and they knelt down, clutching the gushing blood.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, another soldier in black armor appeared out of nowhere from behind, his dagger aimed at his back at a tricky angle.

The sword tip continued its relentless attack, killing the two people in front of it before striking the assassin's throat with incredible speed, taking away his life.

The ring blade strike is surprisingly effective on the battlefield.

"Kill him!"

A roar rang in his ears, piercing through his still-buzzing eardrums. Roland frowned and drew his javelin with a backhand motion.

Grip tightly, gather strength, pierce!

call out-

A crimson light flashed, pinning the commanding imperial officer to the snow, while those around him took a half-step back in fear.

Even though this is a battlefield, it doesn't mean everyone is willing to die in vain.

Such a powerful figure would naturally attract the attention of higher-ranking officers.

Roland soon found a way to deal with him.

A war behemoth.

It was three feet tall, covered with thick, lead-gray scales, with two rows of sharp bone spikes on its back, and its thick limbs left a deep pit in the snow with every step.

Its head drooped slightly, its scarlet eyes standing out like red lights in the snow, and dark purple beams of light flowed around it. Each breath brought a heavy roar.

A female figure was vaguely visible sitting on the neck of the beast, with dark red runes forming chains from her wrists, binding the beast's head.

It is charging toward Roland.

It moved with incredible speed, carving two deep furrows in the snow, indiscriminately crushing every enemy in its path, carrying a murderous intent as it rolled straight towards them.

"We can't beat them."

Roland knew at a glance that this behemoth was far beyond his capabilities, so he decisively picked up the javelin on the ground and ran toward the edge of the battlefield.

The behemoth roared, and as its master changed its position, the bone spikes on its back stood up one by one, then hovered in mid-air and shot out with a sharp whistling sound!

boom.

Roland leaped lightly, landing on the helmet of a heavily armored soldier. He then swung the rope from his waist, tied it around the neck of a soldier not far away, and pulled sharply.

Boom! ! !

The soldier's vertebrae snapped instantly, and his body was thrown into the air by the immense force. Roland swung his arm and used the corpse to block the bone spikes.

Blood mist filled the air.

Roland landed on the ground, barely able to catch his breath, when he saw even more bone spikes breaking off from the giant beast and raining down upon him.

"This is never going to end."

He cursed under his breath, having no intention of lingering on this battlefield; he just wanted to get away as quickly as possible.

"In that case, I'll help you finish the fight!"

A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He took out a magic crystal cannonball, flicked a coin onto it, then leaped into the air, twisted his body, and kicked out.

boom! ! !

The magic crystal projectile streaked across a dark golden trajectory, flying straight toward the oncoming war behemoth.

The female knight's pupils contracted sharply, and she jerked her wrist, causing dark red runes to flash wildly as she tried to dodge the incoming magic crystal projectiles.

But it was too late.

boom-!!!

A blinding dark golden light exploded, and a powerful shockwave spread out, blowing away and tearing more than a dozen soldiers around it into dust. Then it contracted, expanded, and spread.

boom-!!!

What has emerged this time is not just glory, but destruction.

A dark golden energy storm surged from the center of the explosion, spreading in all directions, engulfing the wind and snow, the fireflies, flesh and blood, and life itself.

The charred powder swirled in the air; it was the remains of the dead soldiers.

The war behemoth let out a deafening roar.

Most of its scales were peeled off by the magical impact, and the blurred flesh beneath was melting, falling down its thick limbs onto the snow, corroding deep pits that emitted white smoke.

The female knight had escaped the giant beast moments before the explosion. An invisible force around her blocked the shockwave, and now she stood on the snow, her eyes fixed on the direction Roland had left.

"Chase!"

A chilling sound emanated from her throat as she raised her wrist again. Dark red runes flashed once more, binding the struggling behemoth like chains and controlling it to continue fighting.

But the giant beast could no longer stand up.

Its massive body lay on its side, sharp bone spikes scattered among the gray-white snowflakes, blood pooling into a steaming lake, its limbs convulsing wildly, leaving only deep furrows.

"Useless." The female knight glanced at the giant beast and coldly uttered two words.

She glanced again, unwilling to give up, in the direction Roland had gone, but finally turned and walked in another direction.

There was a deep, sunken pit.

At this moment, rows of imperial soldiers poured out of the rift, taking control of the battlefield.

Then, they will charge into the fortress together.
