Super God Academy: Kabuto

Chapter 7 The Gluttonous Attack

Inside the police car, Qi Lin and her partner Lao Jin were discussing the details of Liu Chuang's bizarre case from the previous night in hushed tones. Occasionally, a few routine patrol reports would come through the car's walkie-talkie, and the atmosphere was relatively calm.

Sudden--

"Sizzle—! Vehicle 143! Vehicle 143! Emergency report! A vicious attack has occurred on Feiliu Airport Road! Unidentified armed men are attacking our police vehicles! The firepower is fierce! Vehicle 143, please proceed to the scene immediately for support! I repeat, proceed to support immediately!"

The urgent, almost distorted call sign shattered the calm on the channel, each word carrying the scent of gunpowder and blood.

Qi Lin's brows furrowed instantly. She grabbed the walkie-talkie, her voice rising in shock: "Terrorists attacking the police? Are you kidding me! This is Juxia City!" As a police officer who grew up in peacetime, this was a term she had only heard in counter-terrorism drills, but it had actually come true in her jurisdiction.

However, what answered her was an even more chaotic and desperate follow-up call on the walkie-talkie, the voices of different officers mixed with the roar of explosions and screams:

"Another car got blown up! Watch out! That thing's coming this way!"

"We can't hold them off! We absolutely can't hold them off! Requesting heavy firepower support! Repeat, requesting heavy—ah!!!"

"Attention all support units! Evacuate civilians first! Establish a firebreak! Protect civilian safety! Target... there's only one target! Exceptionally tall, wearing an unprecedentedly heavy exoskeleton! Our bullets can't penetrate it! RPG rockets won't cause any effective damage! This is no ordinary enemy! No!"

In the sky, the roar of armed helicopter rotors grew louder as they approached, tearing through the clouds. A formation of several fighter jets, laden with live ammunition, roared past, their sharp whistling echoing through the air, heading straight for the airport road where thick smoke was rising. Everything indicated that this was no ordinary security incident.

Qi Lin and Lao Jin exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock and resolve in each other's eyes. She jerked the steering wheel, floored the accelerator, and the police car roared off towards the area that had become a war zone.

Upon reaching the outer perimeter of the cordon, the scene before her eyes almost froze her blood.

In the distant sky, an armed helicopter carrying out suppressive fire was precisely struck by a beam of energy emanating an ominous, eerie blue light that suddenly shot from the ground. Without the delay of an explosion, without any chance of struggle, the steel behemoth was crushed in mid-air like a toy by an invisible giant hand, instantly transforming into an expanding fireball. Metal fragments, wreathed in flames, scattered in all directions, trailing black smoke as it plummeted to the ground.

On the ground, the scene was even more horrific. The wreckage of several tanks and armored vehicles was burning fiercely, their twisted gun barrels pointing skyward, like the skeletal remains of a colossal beast with its eyes wide open in death. Thick smoke billowed, obscuring half the sky, and the acrid smell of burning and gunpowder could be faintly detected even through the vehicle windows. The once-smooth roads were now riddled with craters and cracks, as if they had been brutally plowed by the claws of a monstrous beast.

Just as Qilin's police car was trying to find a safe route to the legendary "single target," a chilling, hair-raising premonition of death suddenly gripped her.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the enormous, menacing figure bathed in flames and smoke in the distance—the Taotie Vanguard mech, blue and white with a cold metallic sheen, its unsettling energy cannon muzzle slightly adjusted, a deadly blue light locked directly onto her vehicle!

It's too late to hide!

In Qi Lin's perception, time was infinitely stretched and frozen.

The deadly blue light slowly advanced into her eyes, and everything around her—the falling ashes, the billowing smoke, and even the distant explosions—fell into a strange, viscous, sluggish state.

It was as if... the world had been put on pause.

In that critical moment, when life and death were frozen in time!

A silver-black phantom appeared and coalesced in front of her car at a speed beyond visual perception!

That was no illusion. The silver-black armor components, like living metal with life, or like fragments of stars falling from the sky, traced smooth and complex trajectories in the air, emitting a deep and pleasant metallic clicking sound, instantly covering, assembling, and taking shape!

Finally, standing between her and the death ray was a war god, seemingly born from both futuristic science fiction and ancient armor aesthetics. The streamlined, silver-black main armor, its sheen as cold as deep-space iron, was meticulously crafted, every joint and plate connecting with unparalleled precision, brimming with explosive power and speed. On her chest, a crimson breastplate, as fiery as molten lava yet as resilient as a biological carapace, contrasted sharply and sacredly with the austere silver-black, forming a powerful inverted triangle core area, resembling the incomparably strong back muscles of an insect king, exuding absolute majesty.

"Who...are you?" Qi Lin stared blankly at the armor that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, standing between her and destruction, and murmured to herself, forgetting to breathe.

Upon hearing this, the figure clad in imposing visor slightly turned her head. The compound eye-shaped lenses on the visor gleamed with a calm blue light, clearly reflecting her face, which was still resolute despite her shock.

A voice, so familiar it made her heart stop, yet so warm it instantly brought tears to her eyes, came through the imposing mask, tinged with a hint of teasing, yet crystal clear:

"You don't even recognize your own brother?"

It's Lin Yu!

Before he could finish speaking, the armored man, Kabuto, had already raised his hand. The strangely shaped weapon in his hand, the "Kunai Gun," which combined the melee combat form of a kunai with the characteristics of a gun, instantly lit up with a blood-red light at the muzzle, its energy highly concentrated and emitting a deep energy hum.

There was no aiming process, no hesitation, as if the trajectory of the target had already been etched into instinct.

boom!

A condensed, intensely hot crimson beam tore through the stagnant air, shooting out at a speed beyond the reach of the naked eye. It pierced the sky and struck the energy core of the Taotie Vanguard Mech in the distance, which had just finished charging and was preparing to launch its second attack!

boom--!!!

A deafening roar, far more devastating than the previous helicopter explosion, resounded. The once invincible Taotie mech, which had rendered modern armies helpless, along with the alien warriors inside, was instantly transformed into a dazzling fireball that expanded violently and illuminated half of the smoke-filled sky under the penetration and detonation of the crimson beam. Countless fragments, carrying flames and thick smoke, scattered in all directions, announcing the complete end of its existence.

Just as the aftershocks of the explosion had not yet subsided and the heat wave was hitting us.

Not far from Qi Lin, a faint ripple, like water, suddenly appeared in the open space, and space silently folded and opened. Rose, with her long wine-red hair and dark red leather outfit, instantly appeared using micro-wormhole teleportation technology. Her eyes immediately locked onto the imposing silver-black-red armor in the center of the arena, exuding an aura of non-earthly technology. Her sharp eyebrows furrowed, her eyes piercing, and she demanded in a stern voice, her tone carrying an undeniable wariness and accusation:

"Who are you? A super soldier from another planet? What is your purpose in coming to Earth?!"

Kabuto slowly and calmly raised his right hand, extending a single index finger covered in red armor. The gesture was simple, yet imbued with an indescribable, all-encompassing majesty and a sense of ritual. A steady, calm voice, seemingly containing the will of heaven and earth, emanated clearly through the visor:

"Grandma said..."

He paused, then his signature declaration, delivered with unwavering force, resounded loudly. Though not loud, it strangely drowned out the distant crackling of explosions and flames, echoing across the ravaged battlefield.

"I am the man who walks the path of Heaven and is in charge of all things."

The moment the words fell, before Rose could react in any way—whether by further questioning or by adopting an attack stance—the space around Kabuto's figure, along with the astonished Kirin in the police car behind him, suddenly experienced an extremely slight distortion, almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

As if gently erased by the most skilled painter with an eraser, or as if merged into the surface of water in another dimension, the two people and the car disappeared instantly, without warning or trace, right before Rose's eyes.

Left alone, Rose stood with a furrowed brow, her face a mixture of astonishment and deep thought, facing the crackling of the burning wreckage of the Taotie mech in the distance, and the faint, lingering, strange fluctuations in the air that did not belong to any known energy system. The battlefield remained chaotic, but a crucial variable had quietly intervened, writing its first stroke with absolute dominance.
