Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 58 Layout
Earth, inside the secret command center of Demon One.
Morgana leaned lazily against the window, crimson wine swirling slowly in her goblet, reflecting the neon lights of the city outside. She was having a conversation with Karl, the god of death, in the Styx Galaxy, via an encrypted dark communication channel—a conversation that would decide the fate of the gods.
"What?! Blow up the Great Gorge first, then kill Keisha?" Morgana's voice suddenly rose, sharp with disbelief. "Karl, are you fucking kidding me? This is too risky! What if I die?!"
She took a big gulp of wine and let out a cold, mocking laugh at the invisible person she was talking to.
"Who the hell told you I'm immortal? Huh? That bitch Keisha's Silverwing inflicts damage with a divine code, making it extremely difficult to heal! She dreams of tearing me to pieces and stuffing me into those damn glass jars like a specimen! You understand?!"
Frustrated, she got up, poured herself another glass of wine, and paced around the room. The crisp sound of her high heels hitting the floor revealed her intense inner struggle.
"No... I need to think this over some more, I absolutely have to!" She stopped, her tone firm, as if speaking to Karl, yet also as if convincing herself, "This operation depends on what kind of support you can provide! The Grand Clock, you must keep it running the entire time!"
As she spoke, she unconsciously walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling mirror. The figure in the mirror was alluring and powerful, yet at this moment it also revealed a rare hint of hesitation about an unknown fate.
She gazed at herself in the mirror, her voice suddenly lowering, carrying a rare, almost candid vulnerability:
"To be honest, Karl... if you really want to kill me, this might be your best chance."
From the other end of the channel came what seemed to be Karl's gentle and patient explanation. Morgana's complex expression quickly faded, replaced by her usual sarcasm and impatience.
"Okay, okay, fine, fine..." She waved her hands repeatedly, interrupting Karl, "Save it, don't talk to me about past relationships, it's disgusting."
Her gaze sharpened and hardened once more as she looked at herself in the mirror and at Death on the other end of the communication line, and she spoke each word clearly:
"Tell me more about your 'ultimate fear.' Yes, do it this way, brainwash me, make me... afraid of you."
Earth, Lin Yu's home.
As Lin Yu stepped out of his room, he saw two angelic kings, each with a distinct yet equally dazzling aura, sitting side-by-side on the living room sofa. The silver-haired He Xi still exuded a touch of languor, while the blonde Keisha sat upright, radiating an undeniable air of authority. They seemed to have been waiting for a while.
Lin Yu walked over calmly and sat down on the single sofa opposite them, his gaze landing directly on Keisha: "Have you thought it through?"
"Hmm," Keisha nodded slightly, her sacred face showing no fear of "dying," only a calm resolve, "I'd like to hear your more specific thoughts."
"Adapt to the situation," Lin Yu said succinctly. "I will act in secret to ensure the process follows the 'script,' but I won't expose myself too early. If Karl uses the Great Clock, I'll be caught in the crossfire and teleported to that battlefield..." He paused, a strange light flashing in his eyes, "Then 'that person' will appear to help us."
"That person?" Keisha's delicate eyebrows furrowed. The top powers and forces in the known universe were all recorded in her treasure trove of knowledge, but the one Lin Yu was referring to was clearly beyond her comprehension. "Who is it?"
"You'll find out when the time comes." Lin Yu didn't say it explicitly, but simply picked up the tea that had been brewed on the table sometime earlier and gently blew on it. The red Kabuto insect device appeared out of thin air beside him, swirling around him slowly and steadily, tracing streaks of light.
Keisha's gaze was drawn to the peculiar mechanical creature, and she temporarily put aside her questions, commenting with interest, "This thing looks quite interesting."
The Kabuto insect device seemed to understand, hovering in front of Keisha and emitting a disgruntled electronic voice: "You're the little one!"
He Xi, who was standing next to her, laughed and held out her finger towards the Kabuto insect device, teasingly saying, "Little guy, come here and let me see?"
The Kabuto insect device flickered a few times, seemingly hesitant. It turned to Lin Yu, and seeing that Lin Yu made no response, it reluctantly flew over and gently landed on He Xi's slender fingertip, dimming its light, as if it were truly just an exquisite piece of metal art.
Keisha looked at this scene, then turned her gaze to the boundless starry sky outside the window, her tone unusually weary and longing: "You two have it so easy. After this is over, I can finally... get some proper rest."
"Who do you plan to let take over? Angel Yan?" He Xi asked casually, yet hitting the nail on the head, while teasing the Kabuto on her fingertips.
"Yes," Keisha confirmed, "Let her hold the fort for now. Until Annie Cid grows up and is able to shoulder the responsibility." She looked at He Xi, her tone becoming serious, "At that time, you will need to guide Yan from the side; she still needs experience."
"Me?" He Xi finally raised her head, pointed to herself, and gave him a "don't bother me" look. "I don't really like fighting and worrying about things." She changed the subject, her icy blue eyes flashing with a sly smile as she glanced at Lin Yu beside her. "Besides, isn't there a ready-made 'god' here? He's capable enough and has plenty of free time."
Upon hearing this, Keisha immediately turned her gaze to Lin Yu, her all-seeing eyes filled with scrutiny and a hint of... expectation?
Lin Yu looked at the two who instantly turned their anger towards him, especially He Xi's mischievous yet expectant gaze. He opened his mouth, but finally uttered three words helplessly: "You naughty Xi..."
He Xi didn't speak, but tilted her head slightly and looked at him quietly with her water-blue eyes. Her gaze was clear, yet it carried a power that was hard to refuse.
After a moment of eye contact, Lin Yu finally gave in, sighed, and conceded, "...Okay."
He shook his head, a resigned expression on his face, and muttered to himself, "Sigh, it seems these leisurely days are truly over."
Keisha's lips curled into a slight smile, revealing an almost imperceptible curve of satisfaction. With Lin Yu's promise, she felt much more at ease about the future of the Angelic Civilization after "going offline." Meanwhile, He Xi, like a cunning little fox, continued to twirl and play with the Kabuto on her fingertips, clearly in a very good mood.
