Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 13 Newbie Gathering
Inside a spacious room at the Super God Academy, temporarily used as a classroom, the atmosphere was tense. A group of young people, summoned here under various pretexts and in various ways, stared uneasily or curiously at the projection screen in front of them. The screen displayed edited but still shocking footage from yesterday's news—alien mechs wreaked havoc on the streets of Giant Gorge City, buildings collapsed, flames soared into the sky, and people fled in panic. The host's voice came through the loudspeaker, trying to maintain composure, but unable to conceal the gravity of the situation.
Qi Lin sat in the front row, her back straight. When the scene shifted rapidly, and a figure in dark red and silver-black armor flashed by at the edge of the explosion's smoke, her pupils contracted sharply, and her breath almost stopped. Although the image was blurry and the time extremely short, that unique streamlined shape, that familiar dark red… Kabuto! It really was her brother! The one sweeping across the battlefield in the news was really him! A wave of shock, pride, and even deeper worry washed over her, her heart pounding in her chest. Was he already… facing such an enemy alone?
"What's going on here? Are we filming a movie? Why is there such a big production?" Ge Xiaolun squeezed in front of the projector, pointing at the Taotie soldiers and the messy streets on the screen, which were clearly not created by Earth, with a bewildered look on his face as if his worldview had been shaken.
Just then, the classroom door was pushed open with a bang, and Zhao Xin rushed in, his voice booming: "Hey! Have you guys seen the news? Holy crap! I think aliens have attacked! Did they gather all of us together just for this?!" His face showed the excitement of discovering a shocking secret, as well as a hint of barely perceptible tension.
"I heard from Rose that..." Ge Xiaolun swallowed hard, pointing to a clear image of a Taotie infantryman on the screen, "This is what we're going to fight. Aliens."
"Are you kidding me?!" Zhao Xin's eyes widened, and his voice rose. "Really fighting aliens? Us? Fight... what the hell are we going to fight?!" He subconsciously waved his thin arm, feeling that this was more absurd than he had imagined.
"Damn it!" Liu Chuang, who was sitting against the wall, suddenly slapped his thigh and stood up abruptly. His face twitched with a mixture of absurdity and a strange excitement. "I...I'm a mafia boss! This is supposed to be me fighting aliens?!" This turn of events made him feel that it was more ridiculous than a movie.
"Damn, you're here too?" Ge Xiaolun turned around at the sound of the voice, and upon seeing Liu Chuang's face, he immediately bristled like a cat, his eyes filled with wariness and hostility. Their "friendship" in the alley was still going strong.
In the corner, a timid-looking girl named Rui Mengmeng, clutching her books, muttered softly, "How...how could there be gangsters..."
Qi Lin barely managed to pull herself out of her shock at her brother. Hearing Liu Chuang's shouting, she habitually adopted the calm tone of a police officer scrutinizing a suspect, and without even looking at him, added casually, "At most, he's just an older, unemployed young man."
"Heh!" Caught off guard by a well-placed jab (on his criminal record), Liu Chuang immediately turned on her, slamming his hand on the nearest table, making his water glass rattle. "Little policewoman, we meet again! Let me tell you, I'm a standard mob boss! I've got dozens of brothers around, you know that? Scared?"
Qi Lin slowly stood up, turned her face, and looked at him with a calm yet penetrating gaze. Her tone was businesslike and interrogative: "When you say 'gangsters,' do you mean the kind of gangsters in movies who fight with guns, kill and rob? Or do you mean the kind of street thugs we at the police station often deal with, who steal chickens and dogs, fight, and get arrested for collecting protection money? Please define it clearly."
"Oh my god, you're so sharp-tongued!" Liu Chuang was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled slyly, his gaze sweeping maliciously over the women in the classroom—Leina, Rose (who wasn't present but was mentioned), Qi Lin, Rui Mengmeng, and Rose who came in later. "What's this? A bunch of girls hanging out with us guys? Ha, what's the deal with this Super God Academy? Mixing men and women, makes work easier, huh?"
A suppressed chuckle and discontented murmurs rose from the surrounding area. Rui Mengmeng shrank back, her voice even softer: "Who...who is this person...?"
Just then, Lena, who had been sitting in the front row with her legs crossed, seemingly watching the show from the sidelines, lowered her arms and slowly stood up. Her long, wine-red hair swayed gently with the movement.
Liu Chuang's gaze was immediately drawn to Reina's stunning figure and aloof face. Oblivious to the danger, he pointed with his finger and chuckled, "Especially this one, those long legs in black stockings...hehe, awesome!"
"Liu Chuang, I'm warning you, don't think that just because we've moved to a different place, I can't deal with you." Qi Lin's voice turned cold, and her hand subconsciously reached for her usual sidearm (although she wasn't carrying it at the moment).
"Treat me? I, Liu Chuang, have been a gangster for so many years, who have I ever been afraid of?" Liu Chuang's arrogance flared up. He stiffened his neck and looked Qi Lin up and down with a flirtatious gaze, deliberately drawing out his words, "Besides, in my eyes now, you're not a cop, you're just a—girl! Understand? You're quite pretty..."
The last syllable of his word hadn't even fully faded yet.
call!
A figure appeared beside him as if teleporting, so fast that only a blur remained! The next second, a hand wearing a black tactical glove gripped his throat with the precision of an iron clamp!
"Bang--!!!"
With a tremendous thud, Liu Chuang's burly body was slammed against the solid classroom wall by an irresistible force! The impact caused plaster to flake off the wall. His eyes bulged, his face instantly turned a deep liver color, and a choking "hoarse" sound came from his throat.
Lena's face was inches away, her golden eyes devoid of warmth, filled only with a disdainful indifference as if looking down upon ants, her voice icy and chilling:
"What is Black Boss? Compared to 'God,' isn't he... a bit too insignificant?"
Liu Chuang was being choked so hard his eyes almost rolled back. He futilely pried at Lena's unmoving arm, squeezing out broken words through gritted teeth: "Hey... Big... Big Sister... Sister Dali... who... who are you...?"
Lena tilted her head slightly, a completely unsmiling smile curving her lips, clearly declaring:
"Your goddess, the light of the sun, Lena."
"Oh! You...you are that...too...sun-shining!" Liu Chuang managed to utter such a suicidal remark even while suffocating.
A golden glint flashed in Lena's eyes.
boom--!!!
A dazzling burst of solar energy erupted without warning from the spot where she was holding Liu Chuang! It wasn't an explosion, but a violent release of pure light and heat!
"Ah—!" Liu Chuang screamed in agony as the force of the energy sent him flying backward like a kite with a broken string. He crashed into the reinforced glass window at the back of the classroom (or rather, part of the window frame and wall), landing in a disheveled state on the corridor outside, his body smoking and unable to get up for a moment.
Meanwhile, inside the classroom.
Strange, dark metallic particles appeared and coalesced from the void as if summoned. Pieces of jet-black armor, exuding both futuristic technology and ancient grandeur, materialized out of thin air with a deep, pleasant metallic clicking sound, flying precisely toward Lena and automatically attaching themselves to her torso and limbs.
In the blink of an eye, a set of dark alloy armor with sharp lines, perfectly combining power and beauty, covered Lena's slender and powerful body. The black armor set off her wine-red hair and cold and beautiful face, making her look like a war goddess descended to earth, exuding a breathtaking sense of majesty and power.
The classroom was deathly silent.
Everyone stood up in shock, staring dumbfounded at the irregular hole in the wall and Liu Chuang groaning in the corridor outside. Finally, all eyes were focused on Lena, who was now fully dressed and exuding an aura of power.
Lena walked calmly to the edge of the hole in the wall, looking down at Liu Chuang who was struggling to get up. Her voice carried clearly throughout the classroom:
"By the way, I'll tell you an open secret. Actually, I'm also an alien—the chief god of the planet Lieyang. I came here to protect your world for... well, friendship. However," she changed the subject, her gaze sweeping over the shocked, fearful, and bewildered faces in the room,
"You all seem to be lacking a certain amount of necessary 'manners' right now."
"Manners?!" Hearing this in the corridor, Liu Chuang's anger overwhelmed his pain and fear. He struggled to his feet, pointed at Lena, and roared, spitting as he spoke, "You alien! You dare to lecture us Earthlings?! I…"
With a roar, he mustered his strength once more and charged towards Lena at the hole in the wall like a mad bull!
Lena didn't even move her feet, she simply raised her hand gracefully.
A dark gold round shield with an ancient design and sun patterns engraved on its edges instantly materialized in her hand.
Boom! ! !
Liu Chuang's fist, thrown with all his might, slammed solidly into the center of the shield. The force of the recoil made his entire arm go numb, and with a scream, he was thrown back again, rolling to the ground.
He refused to give up, his eyes red, and he staggered to his feet again. He had just turned around—
A gleaming, exquisitely sculpted Tang sword, its tip precisely poised just before his Adam's apple. The icy touch instantly froze him, all the harsh words stuck in his throat. Rose, wielding the sword, had appeared silently, her eyes colder than the blade.
"Don't move." Rose's voice was flat.
At this moment, Ge Xiaolun glanced at the disheveled Liu Chuang, then at Lena, who was clearly an "alien" but had saved the day (in a way), and then at Qiangwei holding the knife. A surge of inexplicable passion and a naive sense of justice rushed to his head. He gritted his teeth, his gaze sweeping over Qi Lin's waist (because she hadn't had time to fully change her equipment since she arrived), and mustered the greatest courage of his life. He took a step forward, drew the pistol from Qi Lin's holster—clumsily but resolutely—and pointed it at Lena!
"I...I don't know if this gun will work on you!" Ge Xiaolun's voice trembled with nervousness, and his hands shook, but he stared intently at Lena. "But...but if you dare touch it again, I...I'll fight you to the death!"
This action stunned everyone, including Qi Lin, who had just been "disarmed." But she quickly recovered and did not blame Ge Xiaolun for his recklessness. Instead, she stepped forward, calmly reached out, and clicked the safety off Ge Xiaolun's pistol. Her skillful and professional movements surprised Ge Xiaolun again.
Lena raised her carefully drawn eyebrows, looking at the simple-minded boy in front of her who was holding a toy gun that was probably less than a toy to her, yet he looked like he was going to fight to the death. A playful look appeared on her face: "Really going all out?"
Before she finished speaking, she casually waved her hand.
Several jet-black armor components appeared out of thin air, moving with a smooth trajectory, and instantly covered Ge Xiaolun's body! Amidst the clanging sounds of assembly, a set of dark alloy armor that perfectly fit his body and had a cool and stylish design enveloped him from head to toe!
Ge Xiaolun felt a sudden weight on his body, then looked down in surprise at the cool armor he had only ever seen in science fiction movies. He then touched the cold edge of the visor and was completely dumbfounded.
A chorus of barely suppressed exclamations of "Wow..." and "So handsome!" rippled through the crowd, especially from Zhao Xin, whose eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Ge Xiaolun paused for a few seconds, feeling a strange sense of security and power from the armor (mostly psychological), then glanced at Reina opposite him, who had a half-smile on her face, and the shield in her hand that looked intimidating...
He scratched the back of his head, which was covered by his helmet (making a metallic scraping sound), chuckled sheepishly, and unconsciously lowered the muzzle of his gun: "Well... well... I'm not going to fight anymore, I'm going to study... study, hehe..."
The tense atmosphere from just moments ago was made somewhat comical by his sudden change in attitude.
Outside the hole in the wall, Liu Chuang's eyes widened when he saw Ge Xiaolun suddenly acquire such a cool set of armor. Ignoring the blade at his throat (Rose had already sheathed her sword), he scrambled back to the edge of the hole, clinging to it, and flashed Lena a fawning smile: "Sister Na! Goddess! Dear sister! Can you get me one too? Huh? I'll do it! I'll really do it this time! I, Liu Chuang, keep my word!"
Lena haughtily tossed her chin up, not even bothering to look at him: "No." Two words, crisp and decisive.
She ignored Liu Chuang's antics and her gaze swept over the diverse young people inside and outside the classroom—people of different backgrounds, distinct personalities, and destined to shoulder the fate of the Earth. She cleared her throat and began calling out names one by one, her voice regaining the clarity and unquestionable authority of an instructor:
"Ge Xiaolun".
"Here...here!"
"Qilin".
"arrive."
"Zhao Xin".
"Here it is!"
"Ruimengmeng".
"Here...here!"
"Cheng Yaowen".
(A deep male voice from the corner) "Here."
"Rose of Du"
(Rose, arms crossed and leaning against the wall) "Hmm."
"And you, Liu Chuang."
(A loud response immediately came from outside the hole in the wall) "Here! Sister Na!"
Lena nodded slightly, and a genuine smile, tinged with anticipation and a hint of challenge, finally appeared on her lips.
"The Super Soldier Company has assembled for the first time without formality. Everyone's here. Although the opening was a bit...unique."
She paused, her golden eyes gleaming.
"So, from today onwards, your boring, ordinary, and predictable lives officially come to an end. Welcome to... the real world, rookies."
The story of Super Soldier begins amidst this peculiar gathering filled with gunpowder, drama, absurdity, and shock, accompanied by shattered walls, lingering gunpowder smoke, and eyes forcibly pried open to gaze at the universe, officially opening its magnificent yet perilous prelude.
