Hogwarts: My Grandmother is the Queen
Chapter 95 Dragon, but...
In the days that followed, Henry never heard the Gryffindor trio mention Professor Snape again; they seemed to have completely given up on that lead.
However, they were still observing the cubicle on the fourth floor, wary of anyone trying to break in and steal the magic stone.
When he had nothing to do, Henry would go to the library to study with his classmates. Draco was obviously not interested in studying, but seeing that everyone around him was studying, he also suppressed his wandering thoughts and sat in the library pretending to study hard.
Actually, it's better to go out and have some fun; at least you'll gain happiness from it.
The first Saturday after Easter was quiet in the Hogwarts library.
Henry sat in a quiet corner of the library, browsing through the twelve uses of dragon's blood. Zhang Qiu sat opposite him, reviewing for her second-year final exams.
Suddenly, he heard Ron's voice.
"Hagrid! What are you doing at the library?"
Hagrid shuffled over, hiding something behind his back. He was still wearing that mole-skin coat, which seemed quite out of place.
Spring is almost over, yet he's still wearing such thick clothes.
"Just looking around." His gaze was somewhat evasive, but when he noticed Henry over there, he rushed over like a drowning person seeing a lifebuoy. "Oh, Henry, you're here too—are you alright?"
Henry smiled and nodded. He knew that this half-giant couldn't keep anything to himself. Rather than being tempted by the gods during the conversation, it was better to find an excuse to slip away.
"Not bad, it's nice to see you, Hagrid." He greeted Hagrid.
Hagrid exchanged a few more hurried pleasantries, his eyes darting around, before making an excuse and fleeing the library as if escaping.
The Gryffindor trio hadn't noticed Henry until Hagrid left, after which the three of them immediately gathered around him and, after receiving permission, sat down together.
"Your Highness, Miss Zhang," Hermione said with a slightly embarrassed smile, "I really didn't expect to see you here. You're here to study, right?"
Oops, you caught me.
"Yes," Henry said with a smile, "final exams are coming up soon, and if I don't do well, I'll get a scolding from my grandmother when I get home."
"Grandmother? You mean... Her Majesty the Queen?"
Hermione practically pounced on the table in front of her, slammed the thick book she was holding onto it, leaned forward, and her eyes gleamed.
"Could you tell me? I mean, if you'd like—what is Her Majesty the Queen like in her daily life? Is she really as serious as she appears on television? What does she do every day? She—"
"Hermione," Ron interrupted her with a look of disapproval, "you asked three questions in one go, or four if I hadn't interrupted."
Hermione's face flushed red instantly.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness. I just... I mean, I've read a lot of books about the royal family. I've studied the history of every monarch, from Queen Victoria to Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is one of the people I admire most—she swore an oath to serve the country for life when she was twenty-one, and now she's sixty-six and has never slacked off for even a day."
Hermione is not exaggerating when she says this. Even before she ascended the throne, Lieutenant Elizabeth, number 230873, was a hardcore ruthless man who drove a truck to catch shrimp during World War II.
(Master Yi, repair his middle section)
Henry smiled.
In the original books, Hermione is a smart, hardworking, and sometimes overly familiar and know-it-all girl.
But now, she's just a thirteen-year-old girl full of curiosity about everything, who gets so excited by the mention of the Queen that she becomes incoherent.
"What do you want to hear?" he asked.
"I want to hear everything!" Hermione said without hesitation. "Like—what does Her Majesty the Queen usually eat for breakfast? Does she really look at those red boxes every day? What do she talk about when she meets with the Prime Minister? And—"
Ron coughed, interrupting Hermione's barrage of words once again.
"Hermione, ask them one by one."
Hermione then realized that she had been impolite again and quickly stood up and gave a ladylike bow to express her apology.
This time she learned her lesson and asked one by one, and Henry patiently answered them one by one.
Ron only spoke after Hermione had stopped asking questions, satisfied.
"Your Highness," he said with a hint of curiosity, "your family is so powerful, do you still need to study?"
This is a very direct question, and very Ron's question.
"What do you think?" Henry asked.
Ron scratched his head: "I think... if my family were that capable, I wouldn't bother learning. I could just lie around and everything would be fine.
Hermione glared at him. "Ron! How could you think that?"
"What's wrong?" Ron retorted. "I'm just telling the truth—Harry, don't you think?"
Although Harry didn't say anything, he seemed to agree with Ron's words.
"Learning is very important; it's a process of self-accumulation," Henry said with a smile. "There's an old Chinese saying, 'Jade that isn't carved won't become an object; a person who doesn't study diligently won't understand the principles of life.' Even if you possess mountains of gold and silver, if you don't understand the principles of being a good person, you'll eventually be eliminated by this world, won't you?"
"Your Highness has actually read the Book of Rites?" Zhang Qiu's eyes lit up.
"I've only skimmed a few articles," Henry said casually.
Hermione's eyes lit up even more—simply because she felt she had found a kindred spirit in this school full of academic underachievers.
"By the way," Harry quickly interrupted Hermione to prevent her from launching into another barrage of questions, "what was Hagrid hiding behind his back just now? I had a feeling he really didn't want us to see it."
"I'll go see what books he was looking for." Ron quickly got up and soon returned with a large pile of books in his arms, which he threw heavily onto the table.
"Hagrid is looking up information about dragons," he whispered. "Look at what he's looking for: 'Dragon Species in Britain and Ireland,' 'From Dragon Egg to Hell,' and 'The Dragon Taming Guide.'"
"Hagrid always wanted a dragon. He told me that the first time I met him," Harry said.
Henry raised an eyebrow. He remembered that in the original story, Hagrid had kept a fire dragon when the main characters were in their first year, but he couldn't recall why he stopped keeping it later.
"A fire dragon?" Zhang Qiu's interest was piqued.
"Does China have dragons too? How do they compare to those in Britain? Which is bigger?"
Harry immediately seized the opportunity. He had been wanting to talk to this pretty lady for a while, and now that he had finally found a chance, he was eager to strike up a conversation.
"The Chinese dragon looks different from the Western dragon, and their symbolic meanings are also different," Zhang Qiu replied with a smile, gently resting her chin on her hand in an elegant posture.
"If I remember correctly, the flag of Wales is a dragon, isn't it, Your Highness?" Hermione asked, looking at Henry.
"Yes, the dragon is the royal emblem of Wales," Henry replied with a smile.
"Really? That's similar to China!" Zhang Qiu's eyes sparkled, and she clapped her hands lightly. "In China, the dragon is also a symbol of emperors..."
