Hogwarts: My Grandmother is the Queen
Chapter 43 Dumbledore's Reward
At breakfast time, the auditorium returned to its usual order, but what happened last night was still the topic of conversation at breakfast today.
At the Gryffindor long table, Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat together. Hermione's eyes were still a little red and swollen, but she was clearly in much better spirits. She was whispering something to the two boys.
Harry and Ron nodded from time to time, their expressions serious yet tinged with lingering fear, while the other Gryffindor students looked at them with admiration and curiosity.
After all, five points were deducted and ten points were added last night, so even rounding up, it still counts as points.
As Henry walked into the auditorium, he could feel many eyes on him.
He walked calmly to the middle of the Slytherin table and sat down, and Draco, Pansy, and Daphne soon followed.
"Look," Draco said in a low voice to Pansy and the others, "it seems the trolls didn't teach them a lesson with their clubs last night..."
"Looks like they weren't scared out of their wits by the trolls," Pansy said, pursing her lips. "That does fit the Gryffindor's reckless image."
Henry didn't say anything; he just started peeling the boiled eggs on his own.
However, nowadays, Slytherins... at least the Slytherins around him have improved a lot compared to before. At least they no longer use harsh and sarcastic language to describe others.
Halfway through breakfast, Professor Dumbledore stood up.
At the same time, Professor McGonagall gently tapped her cup.
The auditorium fell silent instantly, and everyone looked towards the faculty and staff section.
Dumbledore surveyed the Great Hall, his voice clear and loud.
"Before we begin our delicious breakfast, please allow me a moment to spare." He paused. "First, I want to reiterate that last night's incident has been handled properly, the castle is safe now, so please rest assured. I would like to especially thank Professors Minerva McGonagall, Felius Flitwick, Pomona Sprout, and Severus Snape for their swift and professional response to last night's events, which ensured the safety of all students."
The professors whose names were called nodded slightly. Professor Snape remained expressionless, but his lips were pressed even tighter.
"Secondly," Dumbledore's gaze slowly swept across the long tables of the four houses, "in the chaos of last night, in addition to the efforts of our professors, two students also demonstrated extraordinary composure, keen observation, and a strong sense of responsibility. They promptly reported to the professors the situation of a student who might be in danger, buying precious time for our rescue operation."
A buzz of whispers filled the auditorium. Many people had already vaguely heard something, but hearing it from the principal himself carried a completely different weight.
Dumbledore's gaze finally settled on the Slytherin table, or more precisely, on Henry. He smiled slightly and continued, "Therefore, in recognition of the compassion and clear judgment that Mr. Henry Wales and Miss Daphne Greengrass displayed in this critical moment, transcending the boundaries of the House, I add twenty points to Slytherin House."
Exclamations immediately rang out from the long seats of each college.
Since the start of this semester, the situation of receiving an extra 20 points at once is not exactly commonplace, but it's certainly unprecedented.
The Slytherin table erupted in chaos. Draco abruptly turned to look at Henry, his mouth agape wide enough to fit an egg.
Pansy and Daphne covered their mouths in surprise, and Pansy even hugged Daphne.
"Twenty points! Merlin! Let's see how Gryffindor can be arrogant now! Henry, you're fantastic! Daphne too!"
The other Slytherin students, regardless of their previous attitudes towards Henry's actions, now showed expressions of surprise, envy, and even pride—this was real House credit! And it was announced by the Headmaster himself in front of the entire school!
On the Gryffindor side, Hermione suddenly raised her head, her gaze piercing through Henry at the Slytherin table, her face full of shock.
Clearly, she hadn't expected that the reason Professor Dumbledore had appeared in time yesterday was because this prince from the royal family had reported the situation to the headmaster.
Harry and Ron followed her gaze. Ron looked a little awkward, while Harry was more curious.
Justin, sitting on the Hufflepuff table, looked completely at ease, even patting Ernie and Zachary beside him, saying, "I told you His Highness is a man of noble character!"
At the Slytherin table, Henry did not show any overwhelmed or apprehensive attitude, but simply nodded to Dumbledore.
Dumbledore smiled and nodded at him, then gestured for everyone to continue eating.
During the latter part of breakfast, Henry became the center of attention in the auditorium.
The younger students, especially those who already had a good impression of Henry, all looked at him with admiration, and a few of the bolder ones even came over to congratulate him.
Henry handled the situation with ease. To the classmates who came to congratulate him, he humbly stated that it was the result of everyone's joint efforts, and did not forget to push Daphne to the forefront: "Miss Greengrass's careful observation played a key role."
This both appeased Daphne and demonstrated his good manners.
He remained unfazed by the stares directed at him, as if the twenty points were merely a routine reward for fulfilling his student duties, rather than something extraordinary.
After breakfast, Henry and Draco were walking towards their next classroom when they were stopped at a corner of a relatively spacious corridor.
"Your Highness Henry! Please wait a moment!"
It's Hermione.
She strode over like a real beaver, with Harry and Ron following behind her.
Hermione's cheeks were slightly flushed, but her eyes remained resolute.
She was still wearing that robe, with a neatly pressed gray sweater underneath, and her hair was still messy.
Harry looked a little flustered, while Ron had his hands in his pockets, his eyes fixed on the armor beside him, looking cool and indifferent, but his ears were clearly perked up.
Students passing by slowed down and looked around curiously.
The fact that Slytherin and Gryffindor's key figures met in public was big news—and of course, many people wanted to use the opportunity to make a big splash.
Draco immediately assumed a defensive stance, raising his chin high.
Pansy looked at Hermione curiously, while Daphne tugged at Henry's sleeve, a little nervous.
Henry stopped and turned to Hermione, his expression gentle. "Miss Granger, is there something you need?"
Hermione stopped in front of him, took a deep breath, and although she stuttered a little, her attitude was serious enough.
"Your Highness, I've come to thank you and Miss Greengrass..." She glanced at Daphne, who nodded slightly, "to formally express my gratitude. I only learned this morning from Professor Dumbledore that you were the ones who promptly reported my situation last night. If... if it weren't for you, the Headmaster might not have found me so quickly... I..."
Her voice was a little choked up, but she quickly regained her composure.
"In short, thank you so much. Really, thank you so much."
After she finished speaking, she bowed deeply, a perfect ninety degrees.
