Cataclysm: Undead Dragons and Zero Empire
Chapter 62 Depravity and Exile
The wailing almost materialized as the demon successfully reached the rift leading to the warp.
The crack blasted open by the pirate alliance continues to expand, its edges rippling and twisting the surrounding starlight, resembling a hideous scar across the starry sky.
The storm emanating from the depths of the rift is shaking the physical laws of the real universe; even time itself is beginning to fluctuate and become inconsistent. This is the chaotic nature unique to subspace merging with the real universe.
The rift is widening, which should be another front line for the invasion of the real universe from the warp, but the demon is charging in the opposite direction. It senses the signs of the end of all things, and fate seems to be urging it to escape this desperate situation as soon as possible.
It had just struggled to squeeze out of the rift, which was still not wide enough. As soon as the demon entered, it crashed head-on into other entities trying to come out of the warp.
Under the influence of the warp storm, the demon began to rage again. The fear receded like the tide, and it easily tore apart its brethren that were trapped in the rifts, then devoured them.
Whether it was devouring its own kind or the souls that had been sacrificed, it was like rain after a long drought, making the demon's surging mist of souls even stronger.
Just as the demon was about to completely sink into the warp rift, Lin Zimo did not use "Death of Zero". Instead, he transformed pure psionic energy into a large hand, grabbed the demon's half-escaped soul, and held it in his hand.
The demon seemed to be firmly bound by invisible shackles. The more it struggled, the tighter it was bound. Its rage gradually evolved to an extreme degree. Lin Zimo felt a wildfire of fury emanating from it, and the surging spiritual energy repeatedly impacted the power he was pressing down on the demon.
However, no matter how much it struggled, it could only cause a slight ripple in the shackles. Instead, the demon was torn apart, and some of the souls it devoured escaped, like blood flowing away.
The psionic energy suddenly tightened, and the power that the demon was so proud of became vulnerable, like a candle standing in a gale, its flame trembling, about to be extinguished into a wisp of smoke.
Lin Ziming stared at the demon, who could no longer struggle, and then turned his attention to the pirate fleet that was about to escape from the edge of the Heng star system. These fleets, which realized that the situation was not good, were about to leave the sub-light speed cruise state, and the faster-than-light speed engine had been activated to the critical point.
However, this fleet could not escape the land where they had given birth to evil. Lin Zimo's gaze fell on these ships, and his psionic energy transformed into a streak that swept across the entire star system.
The pirates watched nervously as the engine reached 100% completion, their deaths already looming. The moment their psionic energy touched the ship's shields, the shields, strong enough to withstand artillery fire, shattered like a yellowed piece of silk.
The ship twisted, the engines exploded, and the light was blinding, like dense fireworks exploding in the starry sky. Each spark was a ship being swallowed by energy, spreading light and heat to the cold universe.
This galaxy, once ravaged by pirates, has finally returned to its proper silence. In Lin Ziming's eyes, all that remains is the ever-expanding warp rift, the demon bound by psionic energy, and the life-bearing planet not far away that has been completely corrupted by the sacrificial ritual and is half-fallen into the warp.
Lin Ziming slowly withdrew his gaze and focused his attention back on the demon. He wanted to observe this unknown thing carefully, hoping it might help him understand what had happened in this universe over such a long period of time.
This demon cannot maintain a stable physical form in the real universe. Its body is incredibly illusory, like a rootless duckweed. If it were not sustained by the psionic environment emanating from the warp rift, it would soon dissipate under the solid rules of the real universe.
This state is quite bizarre. When Lin Zimo was traveling freely in the subspace, he had never seen such an existence that was not tolerated in the real universe. Back then, countless monsters born in the subspace could adapt to the rules of the real universe. Even if they were subject to certain restrictions, they would never be as fragile as this demon in front of him.
To further confirm this discovery, Lin Ziming moved the demon's body away from the warp rift little by little, and as the distance increased, the demon became more and more illusory.
Once outside the area contaminated by psionic energy, the demon became semi-transparent, its psionic energy rapidly dissipated, and the souls it devoured struggled to escape, their aura gradually weakening.
Lin Ziming looked at the demon on the verge of annihilation before him, and slowly brought it back to the vicinity of the warp rift, re-entering the psionic environment, where its body gradually stabilized.
After confirming the state of the demon, Lin Ziming looked at the corrupted planet. The sacrificial ritual had completely distorted the planet's nature. There was no violent geological collapse, only a continuous stream of warp energy flooding the area like a tide.
The concentration of psionic energy soared, gradually condensing into a tangible mist that enveloped every inch of the earth's surface, continuously seeping into the soil and atmosphere, with unenlightened life forms being the first to be eroded.
The once neat and sun-facing vegetation broke free of the soil and began to grow wildly, its branches twisting and tangling into bizarre shapes, and its leaves losing their original color and beginning to be tinged with the colors of psionic energy.
The creatures of the forest went completely mad, killing each other. New horns sprouted from the skulls of the once docile herbivores, irregular lumps bulged under their fur, and muscles and bones mutated wildly. Some grew extra limbs, and some split their heads.
As the concentration of psionic energy exceeded the critical value, blurry subspace spirits began to emerge on the planet's surface, emitting faint and mournful whimpers and roars.
Unable to escape the psychic fog, these spirits attach themselves to the mutated plants and animals, amplifying their ferocity and dominating their weak souls.
The planet's very foundation in the real universe has been shaken, and its psionic energy concentration is spiraling out of control. Unlike physical damage, this planet is slowly "dissolving," like dust blown away by the wind, gradually becoming ethereal and transparent in the real universe, and beginning to fall into the subspace.
Looking at the wretched planet, Lin Zimo made the decision to cleanse the entire star system. He simply couldn't bear to look at the filth here. He wanted to banish the corrupted planet, along with the demon that couldn't maintain its physical form in the real universe, back to the subspace.
This time, the psionic energy far surpassed that of the previous ones, transforming into a boundless ocean that enveloped the corrupted planet. Without the slightest hesitation, it was as if a pebble had been picked up and skipped across a lake, directly throwing the massive, corrupted planet into the warp.
This "fall" did not occur on the physical level. It was as if a ship was being dragged into the deep sea by psionic energy. The blurring speed increased instantly, and the outlines that were already becoming blurred became even more transparent. The mist that permeated the surface and the warp spirits dissipated together, like ink dissolving into water, gradually merging into the warp without leaving any trace.
This exile severely impacted the veil between the real universe and the warp, causing the warp rift to widen abruptly, with warp energy continuously pouring into the real universe.
The rudiments of a giant vortex have already begun to appear deep within the rift. If it is allowed to continue expanding, it will soon evolve into a massive subspace channel, constantly devouring matter and energy from the real universe and radiating outwards to surrounding galaxies.
