Cataclysm: Undead Dragons and Zero Empire
Chapter 43 The Hive
Lin Ziming found a detail.
Monitoring records of battlefield energy in the data revealed that the behavior of these races was never accompanied by psionic fluctuations, and no psionic organs were found in the autopsy reports of captured individuals.
A vague guess emerged in Lin Ziming's mind: this kind of swarm of killing bees had a complex population structure and genetic evolution ability, but it did not have the core power of psionic energy. The insectoid will without emotions and feelings did not exist in this civilization.
Although these swarms of predatory bees share similar habits, they seem to have lost their souls and pose far less of a threat than the Zerg they once were.
Lin Ziming felt a little relieved. At least the insect plague had not destroyed civilization. The world continued to turn. It had not all turned into a swarm of flapping insects. That ominous purplish-black color had not become the only color on the canvas.
They succeeded in the past, whatever the price they paid.
Countless thoughts flashed through his mind, and Lin Ziming communicated with Karen again: "I need the location of the swarm of bees."
"According to the latest report, they are currently active at the other end of this galaxy," Karen immediately marked an area on the star map, "The civilization there is resisting the invasion, but the situation is not good."
Having obtained the information he wanted, Lin Ziming did not linger. He gently activated his spiritual energy as a response to Karen and the others.
"Dragon Lord, if you ever need anything in the future, please feel free to contact us and unleash your will," Karen said, sensing his impending departure, continuing to convey their wish for peace. "The Foundation will always keep its doors open for you and offer you our strength."
After receiving the final communication, Lin Ziming left the star system at faster-than-light speed, leaving the starport a desolate tomb adrift in planetary orbit.
Karen watched the direction where the undead dragon had disappeared, gradually regaining his composure. The ship's technicians reported to him the losses of the Thinker array; some of the psionicists had died in the exchange just now.
"Ambassador, we succeeded," the secretary reported over the phone, sounding both exhausted and relieved. "He showed no hostility and even accepted our star map."
Karen nodded, a smile appearing on her face: "This is a good start. Even if we can't call him an ally, a Leviathan-level friend is of great significance to the Foundation."
"Immediately report the record of this exchange to the board of directors, highlighting 'Zerg,' and closely monitor the movements of this undead dragon, especially his interest in the Killing Swarm."
He pondered for a moment, then added to his secretary who was taking notes, "In addition, we need to submit a recommendation to the board that we collect the latest data on the Killing Bee Swarm and record their population changes. If 'Tianlong' clashes with the Killing Bee Swarm, we might be able to glean more information about his power from it."
The fleet adjusted its course and headed towards the core area of the Foundation, while Lin Ziming was traversing the sea of stars at faster-than-light speed. The surrounding stars were like fireflies flying by, and the nebulae turned into dazzling bands of light in his eyes.
His consciousness was immersed in memories of the past, and he increasingly suspected that there might be some necessary connection between these creatures and the Zerg from back then.
Are the swarming bees descendants of the Zerg? What was the outcome of the war my parents participated in?
These questions took root and sprouted in his consciousness like seeds, and he needed to find the key to unlock them. The first step was to go to the star system where the Killing Bees were located.
Lin Zimo escaped the faster-than-light state and arrived at a new star system. As soon as he entered the starry sky here, he sensed a kind of polluted aura.
In the central region of the Ganges system, a planet is surrounded by countless points of light, as a fleet is conducting orbital bombardment of its surface.
Like a global torrential rain, the violent explosion shook the earth's crust, revealing countless enormous nests where daughter bodies of various shapes were moving rapidly.
Lin Ziming could clearly see the true appearance of those bee swarms: heavy units covered with dark brown carapaces were using their huge forelimbs to block the falling rocks from the broken mountains; swarms of insects with wings shimmering with metallic luster streaked across the sky like lightning, colliding with the carrier-based aircraft launched by the fleet; bloated, pipe-like creatures were repairing the destroyed hatching pools, and viscous secretions were rapidly solidifying to form new wall structures.
These sub-units cooperated seamlessly, demonstrating a high degree of organization. Some immature combat units tore through their cocoons and jumped out of the broken hatching pool, running while fully developing their bodies, before turning to ashes in the orbital bombardment.
Just then, Lin Ziming felt a faint resonance within his body and discovered that it was the remains of the Zerg Tyrant fused into his bones, which began to respond instinctively.
A strange flow of information flooded into his consciousness; it contained a vast amount of reproductive rhythms and the logic of group cooperation, and even complex combat wisdom.
As he drew closer to the battle zone, the resonance within him grew stronger, and he could clearly sense the location of the queen insect deep within the planet.
By simply releasing his psionic energy, he could easily override the command signals of this swarm of bloodthirsty bees, take control of the entire race, and make them all obey his orders, becoming weapons in his hands.
However, Lin Ziming did not do that. He temporarily suppressed the resonance coming from his body and became increasingly suspicious that these sub-entities were related to the swarm of insects that blotted out the sky back then, rather than a hive-like civilization that evolved independently in the universe.
Their forms and strengths are not similar; what they are similar about is their reproductive methods and aggressiveness.
As he watched the swarms of insects constantly emerging on the planet's surface, dark red psionic energy began to slowly surge across his body. The fire of death, like a volcano about to awaken, was about to erupt once more, unleashing its ancient fury.
This time, he was no longer the young dragon who was stepping onto the cosmic battlefield for the first time. He had experienced death and rebirth. He came here not only to fight, but also to explore the truth about the Zerg, about the Killing Swarm, and about his own past and the long history of the universe.
A silver-white dragon shadow soared through the starry sky. Its psionic energy was no longer suppressed, but resonated with the insectoid tyrant who had long since merged with it, unleashing an invisible wave of energy that swept across the entire Heng star system, conveying the wrath of the undead dragon.
The swarm's rhythm became chaotic, and some of the offspring flying into space lost their bearings, blindly crashing into the void.
Lin Zimo ignored the swarms of insects trying to find him and the fleet blocking his orbit. His gaze remained fixed on the depths of the planet, the central node of the entire synaptic network and the location of the queen who led the swarm.
This scene felt like stepping back into ancient times, with the Heavenly Dragon flying towards a planet ravaged by the Zerg, and battle about to erupt.
