Chapter 96 Andy meets Boss Bao, Liang Jiaozhou gets jealous
Night was falling. Andy, dressed in a sharply tailored black dress with a light gray silk shawl draped over her shoulders, stood at the entrance of the hotel where the party was being held, her fingertips unconsciously stroking the strap of her bag.
"Wait ten more minutes, I'll come pick you up after the meeting." Liang Jiaozhou's call came in right on time, his voice still carrying a hint of a high-class boss's air, before he started nagging, "Don't drink too much, and don't talk too much with people you don't know, especially..."
"Especially to avoid getting hit on, right?" Andy interrupted him with a laugh, "Got it, you clingy thing."
A low laugh came from the other end of the phone, tinged with a hint of aggrieved domineering: "Who told you to be so eye-catching? I'm worried about you when I'm not around."
After hanging up the phone, Andy took a deep breath and walked into the hotel. The lobby, filled with elegantly dressed women and the glittering atmosphere of business dealings, was devoid of genuine politeness. She disliked such occasions and simply wanted to find a corner to stay in until she was done. Just as she picked up a glass of non-alcoholic champagne, a boastful voice suddenly came from behind her.
"This young lady looks unfamiliar. I wonder which company's elite she is?"
Andy turned around and met a pair of eyes filled with inquiry and amazement. The man, dressed in a white suit, was tall and had a nonchalant smile on his lips; he was Bao Yifan, the heir to the Bao Group.
"Mr. Bao, it's a pleasure to meet you." Andy nodded politely, his tone distant. He had seen him at a previous industry summit and knew that this man was known for his flamboyant and unconventional personality.
Bao Yifan's interest deepened, and he took half a step forward, deliberately closing the distance: "So you know me? Looks like my reputation isn't too bad. But more than reputation, I'm curious, what brings such a beautiful lady here all alone?"
His gaze was too direct, carrying an undisguised aggression. Andy subconsciously took a half step back, frowned, and said, "My boyfriend is waiting for me outside. Excuse me."
"Boyfriend?" Bao Yifan raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced, his tone slightly teasing. "Which lucky guy will win the heart of this beauty? How about we introduce them?"
"No need." Andy turned to leave, but he raised his hand to stop him.
Just then, his phone vibrated, and the words "Jiaozhou" appeared on the screen. Andy, as if he'd found a savior, immediately answered, his voice involuntarily brightening: "Feed?"
"We're at the door, come out." Liang Jiaozhou's voice came through the receiver, steady and reassuring.
Andy nodded slightly to Bao Yifan, walked around him and headed straight for the door, unaware of the resentment and interest in the man's eyes behind her.
Outside the hotel, a black sedan waited quietly. As soon as Andy opened the car door, she was enveloped in a familiar embrace. Liang Jiaozhou, with a faint warmth emanating from him, held her tightly, his chin resting on the top of her head, his voice muffled: "I heard a man's voice on the phone just now. I was jealous."
"Bao Yifan, you know him." Andy leaned against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, "He's a little too enthusiastic."
Liang Jiaozhou's body tensed instantly. After releasing her, his eyes held a hint of grievance, like a big, wet dog looking at Andy. He reached out and pinched her cheek: "He didn't do anything to you, did he?"
"No, I'm leaving now." Andy patted his hand reassuringly. "Why are you so fast? Didn't you say it would be another ten minutes?"
"How can you sit still when you hear others talking to you?" Liang Jiaozhou started the car, and when he turned to look at her, his eyes softened again, with a touch of aggrieved clinginess. "From now on, I have to go to these kinds of parties with you. Even if I don't like socializing, I have to stay by your side, so that some people won't be so blind."
Andy was amused by his "dog-like" behavior: "Didn't you used to hate these kinds of situations the most?"
"Before I met you," Liang Jiaozhou said earnestly, holding her hand and tracing her knuckles with his fingertips. "Now it's different. Wherever you are, I have to be there too."
The car drove smoothly towards the apartment complex where 2201 was located. Since confirming their relationship and obtaining Andy's consent, Liang Jiaozhou had moved in permanently. He owned quite a few properties, including a large riverside apartment and a detached villa with a garden, but he insisted on squeezing into Andy's apartment. His reason was simple and straightforward: "Living with my girlfriend is what makes it a home."
Now, 2201 is filled with traces of the two living together. His black slippers are in the entryway, and half of the shoe cabinet is filled with her high heels and the other half with his casual shoes; his gray blanket is draped over the sofa in the living room, and the coffee table has the two of them sharing a water glass; even the refrigerator is crammed with the groceries and snacks he prepared.
As soon as they entered, Liang Jiaozhou pressed Andy against the shoe cabinet in the entryway and kissed her. The kiss was a mixture of possessiveness and lingering fear, conveying the unmistakable meaning of "you are mine."
"If you ever run into Bao Yifan again, please, stay away from him." After the kiss, he pressed his forehead against hers and said breathlessly, "The kind of person he is, handsome but too much of a womanizer, I don't trust him."
Andy smiled and nodded: "Understood, my dear Mr. Liang."
"Don't call me President Liang, call me Jiaozhou." He nuzzled her cheek like a clingy large dog. "At home, you can only call me Jiaozhou."
Unable to resist his persistent calls, Andy whispered, "Jiaozhou."
He immediately beamed, bent down, picked her up, and carried her into the living room: "Are you hungry? I made you some fish maw and chicken soup, just heat it up and you can drink it."
Soft sounds came from the kitchen. Andy leaned back on the sofa, watching his busy figure in his apron, feeling a warmth in her heart. This man, so composed and capable in front of others, was always so clingy and gentle with her.
He would get up half an hour earlier than her in the morning to make breakfast, and no matter how late he came home at night, he would leave the light on for her. When he was on a business trip, he would make at least three video calls every day. Even when she went to work, he would drive her downstairs and watch her get into the elevator before he would leave.
It's not that he's possessive or weird; he's genuinely clingy. After all, puppies like to stick close to their owners.
"Oh, right, my parents called me today." Liang Jiaozhou came out with a plate of cut fruit, sat down next to her, and casually pulled her into his arms.
"What's wrong?" Andy picked up a strawberry and stuffed it into his mouth.
"What else can they do but urge me to treat you better?" Liang Jiaozhou chewed on a strawberry, his tone both helpless and amused. "They say that after living for so many years, I've finally come to the point of dating, and the person I'm dating is such an outstanding, intelligent, and beautiful woman like you. It's like my ancestors' graves are emitting auspicious smoke. They told me not to be temperamental and not to drive you away, or they'd disown me as their son. They told me I absolutely must cook for you well. The way to a woman's heart is through her stomach. That's what my dad did back then."
Andy smiled, his eyes crinkling: "Your parents are quite interesting."
"Grandpa and Grandma are even more exaggerated." Liang Jiaozhou pinched her chin, his eyes full of affection. "They keep telling me to be good to you, and they even said that if I dare to bully you, they'll come and deal with me themselves. By the way, my sister is coming to deliver some ingredients to us later. My uncle and the others brought them from overseas for Grandpa and Grandma."
A little while later, the doorbell rang.
Liang Jiaozhou got up to open the door.
The person standing outside the door stunned Andy for a moment.
She was an exceptionally striking girl, with short, neat hair, her black leather jacket open, revealing a simple white tank top underneath, showcasing her clean-cut collarbones and arms. A black earring gleamed coldly in her left ear, and her eyes were bright yet slightly arrogant. She was about 1.82 meters tall, and standing there, she exuded a commanding presence.
She's someone who's sped along the racetrack, possessing a cool and edgy aura that carries a sense of speed and danger.
"Brother, Grandpa and Grandma asked me to deliver some groceries and a bunch of jewelry they bought for Andy." She shook the insulated box and gift boxes in her hand, her voice slightly lazy and magnetic. When her gaze fell on Andy, it clearly lit up. "This is Andy? She's much prettier than in the photos on my brother's WeChat Moments."
Andy snapped out of his daze, smiled, and nodded: "Hello, I'm Andy."
"Liang Jiaoyue." She stretched out her hand, her palm large and strong, with a few calluses. "She's my brother's cousin, a professional race car driver. She lives with my grandparents all year round. From now on, I'll be the one to deliver any good things to her. My grandparents are worried that he might treat you badly. If he has any problems, just tell me, and I'll deal with him."
Andy took her hand, somewhat surprised: "A race car driver?"
"Hmm." Liang Jiaoyue raised an eyebrow and smiled, a mischievous yet incredibly charming smile. "I occasionally dabble in modified cars. My brother once raced against me and lost pretty badly."
Liang Jiaozhou sighed helplessly, "Can you please stop bringing up things that are obviously unpleasant to talk about?"
"I'm praising you." Liang Jiaoyue walked in and casually placed the insulated box on the kitchen counter. "At least you dare to compare yourself to me."
She turned and leaned against the kitchen island, looking Andy up and down with interest: "Brother, you have good taste. You're incredibly lucky to have managed to win over a beautiful woman like Andy, who's both intelligent and gorgeous."
"Jiaoyue," Liang Jiaozhou said, his tone carrying a warning.
"I'm just telling the truth." Liang Jiaoyue shrugged, then leaned closer to Andy and lowered her voice, saying, "Sister Andy, you don't know, my brother used to be a work machine. His life consisted of nothing but meetings and signing contracts. We all thought he was going to be alone forever. But ever since he got together with you, he posts on social media every day, either showing off the breakfast you made or photos of you holding hands. Grandpa and Grandma are overjoyed and say he's finally made something of himself."
Andy recalled Liang Jiaozhou's WeChat Moments, and it was indeed true. Before, it was all work-related, but now it was full of everyday life: her profile as she worked intently, movie ticket stubs from their movie outings, even a picture of her sleeping in the car when she was tired. Every single post radiated undisguised affection.
"He's just too clingy," Andy complained, but a smile involuntarily crept onto his face.
"Being clingy is a good thing." Liang Jiaoyue raised an eyebrow. "It means he cherishes you. My brother seems cold, but he's actually very timid around people he likes. One word from you can make him happy for half a day, and if you frown, he can reflect on it for three days."
Liang Jiaozhou, who was listening nearby, turned pale: "Did you come here to deliver ingredients, or to sabotage me?"
"Both." Liang Jiaoyue's smile became even more mischievous. "Grandpa and Grandma told me to remind you that if you dare to bully Sister Andy, they will personally come and deal with you."
"How could I possibly bully her?" Liang Jiaozhou retorted, but his tone softened unconsciously. "I'd be too busy feeling sorry for her."
Andy felt a warm glow inside as he watched the siblings bicker.
"Alright, I won't disturb your time together anymore." Liang Jiaoyue picked up her helmet. "I have a race tomorrow, I need to go back and practice."
She walked to the door, then turned back and winked at Andy: "Andy, come watch my race sometime, I'll reserve a VIP section for you."
"Okay," Andy nodded with a smile.
After Liang Jiaoyue left, the living room returned to silence.
Liang Jiaozhou came out carrying two bowls of fish maw and chicken soup, sat down next to Andy, and reached out to brush the stray hairs from her forehead: "That's just how she is, she's always been wild."
"I think she's cool," Andy said.
"I'm glad you like it." Liang Jiaozhou held her hand. "But you can only think I'm the most handsome."
Andy chuckled, "How can you be jealous of your own sister?"
"I'm only jealous of you." Liang Jiaozhou lowered his head and gently kissed her lips. "Because you're mine."
His kiss was both gentle and firm, carrying an undeniable possessiveness.
Andy leaned against him, listening to his strong heartbeat, and felt a wave of tenderness wash over her.
She knew that she had found the most secure support.
This clingy and affectionate man will be her only answer for the rest of her life.
