All Realms and Worlds: The Lost Home

Chapter 8 Dimensional Escape

On a weekend afternoon, sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto the living room carpet, casting dappled patterns of light.

Lin Nannan curled up on the soft sofa, clutching a bag of potato chips, her eyes fixed on the TV screen in front of her—on the screen, the female protagonist of Doctor Strange 2 was waving her magic cloak, traversing through dazzling dimensional rifts, and shuttling between different worlds.

Sometimes they fight fiercely against bizarre monsters, and sometimes they step into a fantastical world with floating castles.

She just started junior high school this year, an age when she is full of longing for new and exciting things, especially science fiction themes that involve crossing dimensions and exploring the unknown world.

Watching the female protagonist freely roam the world using her time-traveling abilities, Lin Nannan couldn't help but mutter while munching on potato chips, "That's so cool... If I had that ability, I'd definitely explore every world in every animated film. First, I'd go to Hogwarts to learn magic, then go to Douluo Continent to see Tang San, and finally, I'd go to the world of anime to eat all the delicious food!"

The plot on TV is reaching its climax, with the female protagonist traversing several dimensions to escape her pursuers.

Each crack shimmers with a different colored halo, and the world on the other side of the crack is even more bizarre—there is a cyber world full of mechanical creations, a cluster of stone islands floating in the starry sky, and a medieval city-state full of retro magic.

Lin Nannan watched intently, not even noticing the potato chip crumbs falling on her clothes, her heart filled with envy for this ability.

Just as she was immersed in her fantasy, wondering which world she would go to first if she had the ability to travel through time, she suddenly felt a slight sense of weightlessness beneath her feet.

At first, she thought the sofa was too soft and she had sunk in, but the next second, a cool airflow surged from her feet and instantly enveloped her ankles.

"Huh?" Lin Nannan looked down in confusion, her pupils shrinking instantly.

The carpet beneath her feet had become twisted, and a dark crack was quietly spreading outwards. The edges of the crack were tinged with a faint blue-purple halo, like a dimensional rift in a television drama, exuding a mysterious and eerie aura.

A powerful suction force came from the crack, pulling her body downwards.

"Mom! Dad!" Lin Nannan screamed in fright, dropping the bag of potato chips in her hand and scattering crumbs all over the ground.

She instinctively tried to grab the sofa armrest, but the suction was too strong; her fingertips were pulled away as soon as they touched the armrest.

My body plummeted uncontrollably toward the crack, a wave of weightlessness washing over me. The wind howled in my ears, and the view of the living room before me quickly distorted and blurred before being swallowed by darkness.

The intense dizziness made Lin Nannan close her eyes. Her mind was a mess, filled with excitement about the time travel, but even more so with sudden fear.

She didn't know where she would be taken, or whether this rift was like the dimensional rifts in the TV shows.

She didn't know how much time had passed before the dizziness gradually subsided, and she could feel the solid ground beneath her feet. Only then did she cautiously open her eyes.

What came into view was a gray and hazy world.

The sky was a dark gray, without sun or clouds, only a depressing haze; beneath my feet was cracked earth, riddled with crisscrossing gullies, without a trace of green, and without the sound of any living creature.

It was eerily silent, as if the whole world had been muted.

Lin Nannan stood still, instinctively wrapping her cartoon hoodie tighter around herself, her excitement instantly replaced by fear.

There is no Hogwarts castle here, no soul beasts from Douluo Continent, only endless desolation and oppression.

"Where...where is this?" Her voice trembled as she couldn't help but cry out, but she only heard her own voice echoing in the empty space, gradually dissipating into the gloom.

She recalled the plot of the TV show, and a glimmer of hope rose in her heart: Could it be that I really have the ability to travel through time? Did I accidentally create that crack just now?

But this place is too scary... How about we try to travel through time again?

Just as she was figuring out how to trigger her ability, a sharp whooshing sound suddenly came from behind her.

Lin Nannan subconsciously turned around and saw a blood-red blade of light slashing towards her like lightning. The blade's wind carried a bone-chilling coldness and arrived in front of her in an instant.

The blade's gleam was accompanied by a faint black aura, exuding an eerie and deadly presence.

"Ah!" Lin Nannan was so frightened that her soul almost left her body. Her body instinctively retreated, her legs went weak, and she almost collapsed to the ground.

She could even clearly feel the wind from the blade grazing her cheek, leaving a stinging sensation.

Just at this critical moment, the familiar feeling of weightlessness suddenly returned beneath her feet, and the void rift with the blue-purple halo reappeared silently, instantly swallowing her up with its powerful suction.

The crimson blade flashed through the air, landing on the parched earth and sending up a shower of flying stones.

Lin Nannan's figure had already disappeared into the crack, leaving only a gradually closing halo that flashed by in the dead silence of the world.

After experiencing dizziness and weightlessness again, Lin Nannan fell onto a soft patch of grass.

She lay on the ground, still shaken, gasping for breath, her heart pounding, her back already soaked with cold sweat.

That scene was so dangerous; she almost got hit by that blade of light.

She slowly raised her head and looked around at the world before her.

This place is completely different from the desolate land just now. It is surrounded by lush green grass and trees, the air is filled with a faint fragrance of flowers, and the sound of flowing water can be heard in the distance. The sky is a clear blue with a few white clouds floating by, full of vitality.

"Is it...safe here?" Lin Nannan murmured to herself, her fear gradually dissipating and replaced by an irrepressible excitement.

She really did time travel! And it was an ability she triggered subconsciously in a life-or-death situation!

In other words, she really does possess the same ability to travel through dimensions as the female protagonist in the TV series!

She stood up, dusted herself off, and couldn't help but spin around in place, a bright smile spreading across her face.

"That's amazing! I really can time travel!"

She even started thinking about which world to explore next, and whether she should try to travel back home first to tell her parents the good news.

But the excitement didn't last long. A few low voices suddenly came from the woods not far away, breaking the tranquility.

Lin Nannan subconsciously stopped what she was doing, held her breath, and carefully hid behind a big tree, peeking out towards the source of the sound.

At the edge of the woods stood four people dressed in purple robes.

Their robes were embroidered with eerie black patterns that covered most of their faces, revealing only pairs of eyes that gleamed with greed.

They were tall and straight, surrounded by a faint purple energy, exuding a mysterious and dangerous aura.

"Is it her?" one of the men in purple robes asked, his voice hoarse and dry, like rusty iron scraping against each other, his gaze fixed on the direction where Lin Nannan was hiding.

Another man in purple robes nodded slowly, his tone tinged with excitement and greed: "That's right, it's her. That spatial rift just now was definitely the aura of dimensional travel. This little girl actually possesses the innate ability to traverse dimensions; it's truly heaven helping us!"

"The ability to traverse dimensions?" The third purple-robed figure laughed, his voice sinister. "Doesn't that mean that with her, we can freely travel between different planes and plunder endless resources? Whether it's rare treasures or the very essence of a plane, everything can be at our disposal!"

"Hahaha, that's exactly right!" The fourth purple-robed man laughed loudly, his greed undisguised. "If we capture her, we'll be rich! With her abilities, not only will we dominate this plane, but we could even roam the heavens!"

Lin Nannan hid behind a tree, feeling a chill run down her spine as she listened; her earlier excitement vanished instantly.

It turns out these people were after her abilities! They wanted to capture her and use her abilities to plunder resources!

As they walked towards her step by step, Lin Nannan's heart jumped into her throat again, fear gripping her heart like vines.

She forced herself to calm down, and recalling her ability to travel through time, a glimmer of hope rose in her heart.

She had to escape immediately!

But as the purple-robed figure drew closer, she couldn't help but feel flustered. She instinctively stepped out from behind the tree, stammering as she tried to buy time: "You...you hello...I..."

But before she could finish speaking, the four men in purple robes moved at the same time.

Their eyes turned cold, and the purple energy around them surged instantly. Four sharp purple energy beams shot towards Lin Nannan like venomous snakes.

Wherever the energy beam passed, vegetation withered instantly, and the air itself was scorched and distorted.

"Oh no!" Lin Nannan turned pale with fright and instinctively activated her time-travel ability.

She focused her mind, with only one thought in her mind: escape!

Just as the energy beam was about to hit her, the void rift beneath her feet reappeared, a flash of blue-purple light appeared, and a powerful suction force instantly swallowed her up.

Four beams of purple energy slashed through the air and landed on the ground, blasting four deep craters.

The people in purple robes showed no panic. One of them raised his hand and waved it, sending a purple mark flying from his fingertip, which landed precisely on the edge of the crack that was about to close.

The mark, as if alive, slipped into the halo of light along the crack and disappeared.

"Don't worry, I've already planted a tracking mark on her. No matter which dimension she travels to, we'll find her," the purple-robed man said sinisterly. "Her abilities are still unstable; she can't go far. Let's go after her!"

Before the words were finished, the four purple-robed figures leaped into the air simultaneously, their bodies enveloped in purple energy, transforming into four streams of purple light that entered the void rift that was not yet fully closed.

Lin Nannan time-traveled again, landing on a frozen snowfield.

Here, the wind howls, snowflakes dance in the air, and the temperature is so low that it can freeze your breath instantly.

As soon as she regained her footing, she felt a sharp pain in her back. A purple energy spread along her meridians, clinging to her soul like a leech.

"What is this?" Lin Nannan asked in horror, trying to dispel the energy, but no matter how hard she tried, the purple energy remained motionless and instead became clearer, as if marking her location.

Just then, four streaks of purple light flew out from the void rift behind her, and the purple-robed people reappeared in front of her.

"Little girl, stop struggling." The man in purple robes sneered. "The tracking marks we planted can lock onto your location across dimensions. No matter where you run to, we can find you."

Lin Nannan was so frightened that she turned and ran, desperately trying to activate her time-travel ability as she ran.

Void rifts kept appearing beneath her feet, and she traversed them time and time again, from frozen snowfields to blazing volcanoes, from the deepest abyss to the highest clouds, changing world after world.

No matter where she traveled, the four men in purple robes followed her like shadows, always able to pinpoint her location accurately using their tracking marks.

Each time she traveled through time, Lin Nannan had to expend a lot of physical and mental energy, her face grew paler and paler, and her breathing became more and more rapid.

Her abilities are still unstable; she cannot accurately control her destination and can only travel randomly. Furthermore, she cannot escape the tracking marks that lock onto her.

The purple-robed figures pressed closer, each strike deadly, forcing her to flee in a sorry state, nearly being hit by the purple energy several times.

"No... I can't let them catch me..." Lin Nannan gritted her teeth and forced herself to activate her ability again.

Her vision blurred, she felt dizzy, and almost lost consciousness.

This time, the void rift glowed with a more dazzling blue-purple aura than ever before, and its suction force was exceptionally strong, instantly pulling her into it.

This journey through time was longer than any before, and dizziness washed over her consciousness like waves.

She didn't know how much time had passed when she felt herself crash into an invisible barrier, and then she fell onto a hard surface, completely losing her strength and collapsing to the ground.

She struggled to open her eyes and found herself lying in a desolate valley.

Looking up, the sky was a deep blue, and the air was filled with a rich and violent energy, completely different from any world I had ever traveled through before.

This energy was powerful and majestic, carrying an indescribable sense of weight, which subconsciously filled her with awe.

Just then, four streaks of purple light flew out from the void rift beside her, and the people in purple robes landed steadily on the ground, their eyes warily scanning their surroundings.

With a hint of surprise in his voice, he said, "Where...is this place? The aura is so strong, and the spatial barrier is exceptionally solid, far stronger than any previous dimension."

"No matter where it is, let's grab this little girl first," one of the men in purple robes said, his gaze once again locking onto Lin Nannan, who was lying on the ground, and he walked over step by step.

Lin Nannan looked at the approaching purple-robed man, her heart filled with despair.

She had exhausted all her strength and could no longer trigger her time-travel ability.

Just then, an even more powerful energy fluctuation suddenly came from afar, accompanied by faint dragon roars and Buddhist light, as if countless powerful beings were approaching this place.

The purple-robed people's expressions changed, and they subconsciously stopped in their tracks, looking warily in the direction from which the energy fluctuations were coming from.

"This is bad! There are other powerful individuals here! And quite a few of them, and they seem to be very strong!"

Lin Nannan followed their gaze and could vaguely see countless figures rushing towards them on the distant horizon.

Among them were giant dragons shimmering with purple-gold light, cultivators floating on lotus platforms, and monks draped in Buddhist light.

She didn't know who these people were, but she could sense that their strength far surpassed that of the purple-robed man in front of her.

What she didn't know was that this was the edge of the primordial world, only a few hundred miles away from the Forbidden Soul Land.

Those figures rushing towards them were none other than the powerful figures from various primordial forces who had gathered on the outskirts of the Forbidden Soul Land and sensed the dimensional fluctuations here.

A dimensional escape surrounding her is about to intertwine with the power struggles of the primordial world.

The people in purple robes looked solemn, glancing at the approaching figure of the powerful figure, then at Lin Nannan who was lying on the ground, caught in a dilemma.

They wanted to capture Lin Nannan, but they were also wary of the approaching powerful beings from the prehistoric world, so for a moment they dared not make a move.

Lin Nannan lay sprawled on the ground, her heart filled with trepidation and confusion as she watched the approaching forces.

I have no idea where my fate will lead me next.
