All of us are one
Chapter 3 The Reason
The Uncle Li that Jiang Yanming referred to was Li Ang's father.
He was wearing a navy blue hooded casual outfit, with a square face, thick eyebrows, and slightly long hair that resembled that of a non-mainstream style.
"What's wrong?" Uncle Li asked, frowning.
"Isn't this inappropriate?" Jiang Yanming hesitated.
The CCPD is, after all, a government agency. To directly send someone to their door to defend themselves is truly insulting.
"He doesn't look like your father at all." Uncle Li shook his head, somewhat disappointed. "Give me his business card."
"Oh." Jiang Yanming took out his business card with a puzzled look, while using his phone to illuminate the other person's path.
Uncle Li took out his phone, dialed the number on the business card, and turned on the speakerphone.
beep……
As soon as the call connected, Uncle Li asked directly, "Hello, is this Director John from the CCPD?"
"Who are you?" John's voice came from the other end of the phone.
"I am Li Kun," Uncle Li replied.
"..." John paused for a moment before asking, "Mr. Li, is there something you need?"
"I told you to come and clean the floor," Uncle Li said calmly.
"When?" John's voice held no trace of anger.
"Right now. I'll have someone waiting for you at the entrance of the block," Uncle Li said, his voice turning cold. "Also, give a heads-up to the people behind you: next time you send someone, don't send such low-level characters."
"Okay, I'll pass it on. Thank you, Mr. Li," John replied and thanked him.
"Here you go." Uncle Li hung up the phone and tossed the business card to Jiang Yanming. "Alright, you can go back now. This is no longer your business, and your father doesn't want you involved either."
"Does Father not want me to get involved?" Jiang Yanming turned and left, puzzled.
Judging from Uncle Li's confident conversation, the other party is not an ordinary taxi night shift driver, but rather like a master who has retired from the martial arts world for various reasons in a movie.
Moreover, when Uncle Li arrived, he said that he was quite skilled at killing those two illegal immigrants, preventing them from firing a shot, which shows that his abilities must be considerable.
"What has the world become?!" Jiang Yanming was troubled.
He thought he had been reborn into a world similar to his hometown, but after waking up, the world had changed to this.
Jiang Yanming dragged his suitcase along the street. As he approached the center of the neighborhood, the number of people on the street gradually increased.
The entire southern part of the island consists of two-story buildings, with shops on the ground floor facing the street and residences on the second floor.
"Ah Ming".
"Ah Ming!"
When these people see Jiang Yanming, most of them will greet him.
Jiang Yanming smiled and nodded in response, then dragged his suitcase to the shop whose sign read "Jiang's General Store".
He glanced at the sign above his head, and then thought of the weapons that resembled an armory in his memory, and a strange feeling rose in his heart.
It's clearly an armory, but the store is called a general store.
jingle!
As Jiang Yanming pushed open the door and entered the shop, an iron bell rang, attracting the attention of the people inside.
A regular customer, holding an automatic rifle and aiming it, greeted Jiang Yanming with a smile as he entered, "Ah Ming's back!"
"Uncle Zhou," Jiang Yanming nodded and called out.
"I heard from Li Kun that you ran into trouble when you came back?" Another regular customer was loading bullets into the magazine with his bare hands, his tone playful.
"How did Uncle Chen know?" Jiang Yanming put his suitcase aside, walked to the counter, and poured the other person a glass of water.
"Hehe, he called your dad, we all heard it." The other person picked up his water glass without ceremony and drank it all in one gulp.
"Tattling?" Jiang Yanming thought to himself, "Why does Uncle Li have this habit?"
"Ah Ming, you can go upstairs first," another regular customer said. "Your father is upstairs."
"Okay." Jiang Yanming nodded, took his suitcase and walked into the inner room of the shop, going straight up the stairs next to the toilet to the second floor.
……
The second floor has a layout of three bedrooms, one living room, one bathroom, and one kitchen.
As soon as Jiang Yanming arrived, he saw his father, Jiang Yi, sitting at the dining table, slowly and carefully eating his dinner.
"You're back." Jiang Yi asked after swallowing his food, "Have you eaten?"
"I ate on the plane," Jiang Yanming answered honestly.
"It was the right thing not to listen to your Uncle Li," Jiang Yi said softly. "After all, you still have to live in New Moon City."
Jiang Yanming nodded, intending to ask Uncle Li why he had said those things, but was stopped.
"I know you're curious," Jiang Yi said. "Unless you want to go back to the Divine Martial Kingdom, it's best not to know."
"The Divine Martial Kingdom..." Jiang Yanming murmured the name in his heart.
This world... or rather, this planet, is larger than the planet where my hometown was in my previous life.
Seventy percent of the planet's surface is covered by oceans, and the remaining thirty percent consists of land and islands, including four continents.
The Western Continent has only one nation called the Holy Union, which is probably the most powerful nation on the planet. It once fought a war with the Four Nations Alliance of the Southern Continent.
What's strange is that both the internet and books only record that the two sides fought a war, but the specific details are unknown.
Besides the developed and peaceful Western and Southern continents, there is also the Northern Continent, where many countries and warlords are fighting each other, as well as the mysterious Divine Martial Kingdom.
"Your mother didn't want you to return to Shenwu Kingdom; that was her last wish," Jiang Yi said calmly, his tone unchanged.
Jiang Yanming remained silent.
Even though he was born with this knowledge as a time traveler, he had never seen his mother's face, or perhaps he had seen her but then forgot.
"Your mother hoped that you would stay away from the strife in the Divine Martial Kingdom, study hard, be a good person, and live an ordinary life," Jiang Yi said softly. "So after Master Jia told your fortune and said that you had a fire calamity in your destiny, I named you 'Yanming'."
"Your fate is to suffer a fire calamity..." Jiang Yanming suddenly realized upon hearing this.
Earth generates metal, metal generates water, and water overcomes fire. The "Inkstone Inscription" was a way to ward off misfortune according to the principles of the Five Elements, while also fulfilling his mother's last wish.
"Alright, go wash up and rest. Don't take Uncle Li's words to heart," Jiang Yi's voice came.
"Okay." Jiang Yanming nodded and dragged his suitcase into the bedroom.
After closing the door, he put his suitcase aside, went to the bedside table, pulled out a drawer, and found a contract inside.
Jiang Yanming opened the contract, and the first page clearly stated the identities of Party A and Party B.
Party B, Jiang Yanming.
Party A: Professor Tarot.
……
"Professor Tarot, it's been a long time."
In a luxurious banquet hall, a well-dressed middle-aged man smiled and raised his glass to a refined and amiable elderly man.
"have not seen you for a long time."
The refined elderly Tarot professor smiled and raised his glass in response, then continued his conversation with his companion.
"Professor, we have news."
A young man quickly approached Professor Tarot and whispered in his ear.
"Excuse me." Professor Tarot nodded apologetically to his companion, then turned and led the young man out of the banquet hall to a private, soundproof room.
"Speak."
Professor Tarot sat on the sofa, his refined and easygoing demeanor vanished, replaced by a daunting indifference.
"The latest news from CCPD is that test subjects 03-4066 and 03-4068 have died. Both of them have severe fractures in their limbs, and it is suspected that they were subjected to severe torture."
The young man bowed his head and reported, "In addition, the laboratory also sent an email stating that, based on the location of the test subjects and the pulse detection device, it can be determined that both died three minutes after entering the target area."
"Including the severe torture, the two test subjects were discovered as soon as they entered the target area, which is a huge difference from the laboratory's expected discovery time of one minute."
"Based on the above conclusions, the laboratory declares this experiment a failure."
"Understood." Professor Taro's expression was indifferent. "Report back to the lab and record the data from this experiment for the board of directors to review."
"Yes," the young man replied.
"Is there anything else?" Professor Tarot asked.
"The CEO asked me to pass on a message..." the young man hesitated before speaking.
"Ha, tell me, what does your grandfather want you to convey?" Professor Tarot sneered.
"The CEO said you've overstepped your bounds. Considering you're the group's founder and the experiment is a group project, this won't happen again," the young man said tactfully.
"Crossing the line?" Professor Tarot sneered inwardly. "This is nothing..."
……
The Jiang family residence in the southern part of the island.
After reading the contract, Jiang Yanming casually put it into the bedside table drawer, then lightly tapped the surface of the drawer with his fingers.
"According to the contract, I will receive 2% of the shares after the contract takes effect on September 22 this year, but these shares will revert to the professor's name after my death."
He was puzzled. "These shares belong to the professor. Why would he sign this contract with me? What's the point?"
