Dragon Raja: The Divine Man Lu Mingfei
Chapter 6 The Big Dog Barks
Lu Mingfei strode out of the residential compound gate. Just as he was wondering where to find a place to stay, the security guard at the gatehouse called out to him:
"Lu Mingfei, here is your letter."
Lu Mingfei stopped and looked at the gatekeeper with some confusion. The gatekeeper tossed him a letter:
"Here, it was sent from America."
Lu Mingfei touched it and found only a thin piece of paper inside. Too lazy to guess what it was, he casually tore it open, took out the letter, and saw that it was written in Chinese:
Dear Mr. Lu Mingfei:
Thank you for your interest in the University of Chicago, but unfortunately you were not admitted.
However, as we often say, there is more than one path; it just depends on whether you are willing to choose it.
First, let me introduce myself. Kassel College is a private university located in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is an affiliated school of the University of Chicago and has extensive academic exchanges.
We are honored to have received your application materials from the University of Chicago. We believe you meet the admission requirements of Kassel College and are therefore extending an invitation to you.
Please contact Professor Guderian of our university as soon as you receive this letter. He is currently on an academic visit to China and will arrange an interview with you.
If you have any questions, please contact Professor Guderian. We will assist him in providing you with services. I am Norma Lauens, the secretary of the Kassel College. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Your sincere,
Norma.
"Kassel?"
Lu Mingfei recalled that when Lu Mingze described his script before, he seemed to have casually mentioned this name, but Lu Mingze did not say what the school was specifically about, and Lu Mingfei did not ask.
To be honest, Lu Mingze only gave a general outline of the so-called script, and Lu Mingfei knew nothing about the specific people and forces involved.
Although with his current abilities, he could easily pull Lu Mingze out of his mental world and make him explain every detail with just a thought, Lu Mingfei had no interest in doing so—it's like playing a game; if all the plot points are spoiled in advance, what's the point of playing?
Since Master Lu's rebirth, his power hasn't fully recovered, so he can't leave this planet for the time being. Right now, the most important thing is to enjoy a good vacation and find some fun to pass the time.
Lu Mingze had seen through him, which is why he only dared to give a general overview and not reveal all the details, otherwise he would spoil his fun.
Just as Lu Mingfei put the letter down, the gatekeeper threw over a slip of paper and a bulging envelope:
"Sign for delivery".
Lu Mingfei signed the envelope, tore it open, and poured out a pure black N96 mobile phone. He opened the phone's contact list, which contained only one contact: "Professor Guderian".
Lu Mingfei nodded in satisfaction, thinking that Kassel was quite sensible, knowing that he didn't have a means of communication, and even specially gave him a cell phone. He dialed Professor Guderian's number, and after a short ring, the call was connected.
"Hello, this is Guderian from Kassel College."
The clear, articulate Chinese voice came from the other end of the phone.
Lu Mingfei wasn't surprised. After all, this was Lu Mingze's script. If he were to be sent to a place where he couldn't even understand the language to study, he would have to wonder if Lu Mingze had lost his mind.
"Hello, I am Lu Mingfei."
"Lu Mingfei!" Professor Guderian's tone suddenly became unusually agitated.
"Lu Mingfei! The interview is next Wednesday at the Regent Hotel's executive floor, starting at 9:00 AM. Of course, if you don't have enough time, we can also conduct a private interview for you when you're free. Do you have any other questions?"
"Yes, yes, yes, I'm homeless right now. Since the interview is at the Regent Hotel, why don't you give me a room to stay for a few days?" Lu Mingfei made his request without any hesitation. He had just been considering where to stay, and this was like a godsend.
"Okay, okay! I'll arrange it for you right away. Mingfei, please wait a moment."
After a brief silence on the other end of the phone, Professor Guderian's voice came through again:
"Hey, Mingfei, are you there? We've already arranged accommodation for you at the Regent Hotel. You can just give them your name when you get there and check in."
"Okay, thank you, Professor." Lu Mingfei thanked him somewhat casually. He could sense that the school obviously needed his help, so wasn't it only natural for him to make some requests?
"Haha, you're welcome, you're welcome. Our Kassel College will welcome every new student with the highest standards. You can tell us any requests you have, and we will try our best to meet them."
"Thank you, but I don't need it for now. I'll hang up now, see you later." Lu Mingfei said, hanging up the phone without waiting for Professor Guderian's reply.
Lu Mingfei left the residential area, planning to stay at the Regent Hotel first, and then experience the local customs and culture of this world.
However, after taking only a couple of steps, he felt something was amiss. He wasn't used to walking like this; taking off directly would be too ostentatious, which he disliked; taking a taxi would involve waiting, which was also a bit of a hassle; in short, he needed a means of transportation.
Lu Mingfei stood by the roadside, pondering. The technologically advanced mounts from his previous life were indeed cool, but bringing them out would definitely cause a huge uproar, and they would also have to find materials to manufacture them, which was a headache just thinking about it.
That makes sense; biological mounts are more convenient. Which one should I choose?
The first thing that popped into his mind was the smug, smiling face of the little devil Lu Mingze.
However, he quickly dismissed the idea after just thinking about it. Although that guy had given him a terrible script, he was still his twin brother. If he really used him as a mount, wouldn't that be "I ride myself"? Just imagining that scene made Lu Mingfei feel embarrassed all over, and he got goosebumps.
Since Lu Mingze is out of the question, there is only one option left to choose from—Lu Mingfei turned his gaze to a black mudfish in his mental world that was trembling with fear after being terrified by his single glance.
I choose you! Nidhogg!
Lu Mingfei raised his hand and grasped a ball of pitch-black spiritual energy firmly in his palm. The black energy twisted and struggled wildly in his hand, like a trapped wild beast, letting out a silent roar, desperately trying to break free of his control. Lu Mingfei didn't care at all, and raised his other hand as well, kneading and shaping the black energy as if playing with clay.
Under Lu Mingfei's kneading and shaping, some white markings gradually mixed into the black spiritual body. Soon, Lu Mingfei finished his action and casually threw the black and white spiritual body on the ground. The spiritual body wriggled on the ground twice and then slowly solidified into a black and white husky.
His fingers pressed and twisted deftly, and from the originally pure black spiritual body, wisps of white patterns gradually seeped out, like snow spreading on an ink canvas. After a short while, Lu Mingfei stopped and casually tossed the black and white intertwined spiritual body onto the ground.
The lump rolled twice on the ground, then began to wriggle, constantly condensing and shaping as if it were alive, eventually transforming into a black and white husky that was more than half a person's height.
The husky tilted its head, its eyes filled with confusion, seemingly not quite understanding what was going on. It looked down and circled around, examining its own body. When it saw its black and white fur and furry paws, its blood seemed to freeze instantly.
It abruptly turned its head, staring intently at Lu Mingfei. Its previously loose fur suddenly bristled, each hair standing on end like steel needles, even its tail taut. Its amber pupils instantly contracted to the size of pinpoints, surging with a sharp, icy rage, as if trying to pierce through Lu Mingfei.
Its body slowly lowered, its forelimb muscles taut like hard rocks, its sharp claws digging deep into the ground, leaving several clear scratch marks. Its hind limbs were slightly bent, full of power, like a drawn bow.
It grinned, revealing sharp canines, and made low, guttural "groaning" sounds from its throat. The sound was like a roar from the depths of hell, filled with endless anger and resentment, as if it were about to pounce and tear Lu Mingfei to pieces at any moment.
Lu Mingfei frowned as he looked at the husky's menacing, clawing posture, as if it wanted to devour him alive. He stepped forward, walked up to the husky, and slapped it hard across the head.
The husky howled in pain after being hit, its head buzzing, and it spun around twice before regaining its balance. But as soon as it came to its senses, it immediately glared at Lu Mingfei with wide eyes, its anger undiminished.
"Smack!" Another crisp sound rang out as Lu Mingfei mercilessly slapped it again. Before the husky could react, he grabbed its ear and pulled out his phone with his other hand. The screen was playing a video of a husky doing something silly that he had found online.
Lu Mingfei held the phone close to its face, his tone threatening: "Look closely, this is how you should be! Watch carefully, learn well, and if you dare breathe on me again, I'll smash your head in!"
The husky was so angry its fur stood on end—what a joke! It was the mighty Nidhogg, the ruler of this world! When had it ever suffered such humiliation? Being turned into a dog by a human was bad enough, but to be forced to bark and act cute like a dog? It would remember this debt, and once it regained its power, it would make this arrogant human taste the most painful punishment in the world!
It turned its head menacingly, intending to bar its teeth and hiss at Lu Mingfei, but the moment it met Lu Mingfei's eyes, all its anger froze on the spot.
Those eyes were as calm as a deep pool, but the moment they met, they erupted with an overwhelming spiritual force, as if countless invisible blades were about to tear its soul apart.
The instinct for survival instantly overwhelmed all pride. The husky's face visibly brightened, its fierce expression vanishing in an instant, replaced by the typical silly look seen in the phone video: tongue lolling out, eyes sparkling, and tail wagging involuntarily, looking just like a cute little baby begging for food.
"Hmm, not bad, not bad at all." Lu Mingfei patted the dog's head with satisfaction, then said, "Come on, bark a couple of times."
Seeing Lu Mingfei's "I'll kill you if you don't call me" attitude, the husky had no choice but to obediently lower its head and squeeze out two soft "woof" sounds from its throat.
But who knew that Lu Mingfei would slap the dog on the head again:
"Your voice is so soft, haven't you eaten? Call me again!"
"Woof woof." The husky had no choice but to bark again reluctantly.
"Can't hear you! Can't hear you at all! You think you can be a mount with such a low voice?!" Lu Mingfei slapped the dog's head again.
"Woof woof woof! Woof woof woof! Woof woof woof!" The husky could only raise its head and puff out its chest, barking loudly, its eyes as determined as if it were about to join the Party.
"Good! Very energetic!" Lu Mingfei, straddling the husky's back, continued as if he had just thought of something:
"Now that you've become my mount, from now on you won't be called Black King Nidhogg anymore. I'll change your name, removing the middle part and only taking the first and last parts. From now on you'll be called Nigger, Black Dog Nigger."
After Lu Mingfei finished speaking, he nodded seriously, as if he was very satisfied with the name.
The husky beneath him—the once-mighty black king Nidhogg—felt a surge of humiliation.
How glorious it once was, ruling the world and with all races submitting to it! Now it has been reduced to someone else's mount and forced to accept such an insulting name! But it can only roar wildly in its heart. Who told it that it is no match for Lu Mingfei? Blindly resisting would only result in a beating.
In the end, it could only hang its head, its tail drooping listlessly, and obediently accept its fate.
