Navigator: I have a double six-story house

Chapter 38 The Young Lady's Invitation

Night quietly crept into the sky, and Su Qing was tidying her clothes in front of the mirror.

Although it wasn't a tailor-made suit, it fit him surprisingly well; the deep black suit accentuated his shoulder and waist lines beautifully.

He straightened his cuffs and looked at his completely different self in the mirror, feeling somewhat unaccustomed to it.

A commotion came from behind him; Wang Yao was arguing with himself in front of another mirror.

He was struggling to button up the blouse of his suit jacket.

"Su-zai, did they give me the wrong size?"

The dress was stretched taut by Wang Yao's muscles, as if it would burst at any moment.

"This is probably the largest size they could find."

"What about the banquet later?!"

"When you're embracing the mat, you can just quietly unbutton your clothes."

"That's a good idea!"

Wang Yao carefully buttoned up his shirt, as if afraid of popping the buttons off.

"Let's go." Su Qing pushed open the door and went out.

The young lady next door's door was still closed. Just as Su Qing was about to raise her hand to knock, the door opened from the inside.

So his hand just stood there, frozen in mid-air.

Selena stood in the doorway, her moon-white floor-length dress making her look as if she had stepped out of a painting.

The off-shoulder cut reveals delicate collarbone lines, and the hair is styled into a loose bun, showcasing a swan-like long neck.

A pair of sapphire earrings dangled from her earlobes, reflecting the azure of the sea.

Simple, clean, without any unnecessary embellishments, yet everything is just right.

"Captain, what are you daydreaming about?"

Su Qing withdrew her hand, which had been hanging in mid-air, without changing her expression.

"I'm gone."

Selena smiled, lifted the hem of her skirt, and followed Su Qing down the corridor.

She glanced at Su Qing's dress, her gaze sweeping from the shoulders to the waistline.

"The captain looks quite handsome in his tuxedo."

"Um."

"What does 'hmm' mean?"

"It means you heard it."

Selena pursed her lips and didn't press the matter further.

Behind him, Wang Yao muttered softly, "The captain looks quite good in his tuxedo."

Su Qing pretended not to hear.

The banquet hall doors were wide open, and warm light streamed in.

A large chandelier hangs beneath the high stone dome, and candles illuminate the entire hall.

A crimson tablecloth covered the long table, and the silver cutlery reflected glittering sparkles. There were about twenty guests present, most of them well-dressed, chatting in small groups, each holding a wine glass.

The moment the three walked into the banquet hall side by side, the previously bustling conversation fell silent.

Their gazes all fell on the three of them.

The aloof and cool Su Qing, the imposing and domineering Wang Yao, and the beautiful and charming Selena.

The guests' eyes were fixed on the three of them, and they even forgot about the red wine rims of their glasses touching their lips.

If the city lord hadn't mentioned the identities of these distinguished guests beforehand, they would have thought they were high-ranking nobles from somewhere.

Lord Griffin stood up from his seat, clapped his hands twice, and drew everyone's attention back to him.

"Gentlemen, these three are the heroes who annihilated the goblin ambush team outside the city yesterday."

His voice was still hoarse, but much calmer than it had been in the morning.

"They have agreed to help Redstone City eliminate the goblin threat."

"Tonight, in the name of the Lord of Redstone City, I salute the three of you!"

He raised his glass, and the guests followed suit, the clinking of glasses echoing throughout the room.

Su Qing picked up a glass of champagne from the waiter's tray, raised it in response, took a sip expressionlessly, and then put it down.

After Wang Yao sat down, his gaze was immediately fixed on the table full of dishes. Roasted lamb leg, stewed beef bones, garlic bread, honey-baked quail...

His eyes reddened.

Wang Yao picked up the knife and began to sweep with trained speed and precision.

Forget about this and that, I'm here to enjoy the feast.

The guests nearby glanced at his plate and then at his speed, thinking to themselves that he truly deserved the title of the city lord's hero; Ganfan was indeed generous.

Then he quietly moved the chair.

Selena sat to Su Qing's right, sipping her wine. When guests came over to chat, she responded with ease, her tone gentle, neither cold nor overly affectionate.

After the main meal, the servants removed the tableware and pushed the long table to both sides, creating a spacious area in the center of the hall.

On a high platform in the corner, the musician set up his violin, and with a light touch of the bow, a waltz began to flow.

Several couples walked onto the dance floor, their steps light and their skirts swirling.

Su Qing sat in the chair, holding a wine glass, with no intention of getting up.

Then someone walked up to him.

A young girl, about seventeen or eighteen years old, was wearing a pale yellow tulle dress and had dark brown curly hair draped over her shoulders.

Her features were exquisite, bearing a five or six-point resemblance to the city lord, but her eyes were larger, lighter in color, amber, and possessed a brightness unique to young girls.

She performed a standard invitation to dance, lifting the hem of her skirt with her right hand and slightly bending her knees.

"Sir," she said, her voice a little nervous but trying to remain calm, "would you do me the honor of dancing with me?"

Su Qing was stunned for a moment. He subconsciously turned his head to look at Selena on his right.

Selena held her wine glass, not looking at him.

A smile played on her lips, a smile that suggested she was enjoying the show.

Su Qing shifted her gaze back to Isabella's face.

His brain raced for two seconds, considering all the options, before finally choosing the answer he thought was the safest.

"Sorry, I can't dance."

Isabella's eyelashes trembled, and the light in her eyes dimmed for a moment.

"Sorry to bother you."

She lowered her head, turned and left. A moment of courage in the young girl led to a lifetime of introversion.

Su Qing picked up her wine glass and took a sip, completely unconcerned.

Selena put down her glass, turned to the side, and looked at him.

"Captain, that young lady just now should be another daughter of the city lord."

She paused.

"It would be somewhat impolite to refuse the host's invitation at such a banquet."

Su Qing turned her head and looked at her. "Then why didn't you say so earlier?"

Selena's eyebrows arched, and a smile played on her lips.

"Captain, guess."

Su Qing stared at Selena's small face. "I don't want to guess."

Selena chuckled softly, put down her glass, and stood up.

She extended her right hand to Su Qing, her fingertips slender, her palm facing upward.

"Captain, may I have this dance?"

Su Qing looked at that slender hand.

"Didn't I say I wouldn't jump?"

Selena tilted her head.

"It's okay, I know how."

Without waiting for a reply, she grabbed his wrist.

It wasn't very strong, but it was extremely firm and irresistible.

Su Qing was pulled to her feet and led into the dance floor.

He glanced back at Wang Yao, wanting to ask for help, but Wang Yao had half a smoked sausage stuffed in his mouth and was giving him a thumbs up.
